My favourite is Santa Claus the movie. We watched it in the cinema when I was a little girl, it was my first cinema trip and we ate ice cream in little tubs.

Every year I watch it and enjoy it just as much as I did that first time.

Elf is a close second, then Christmas with the Kranks.

What's your favourite xmas film and why?

I love the bit about the fourth lobster, I think that was in Love Actually?

legoplayingmumsunite · 08/12/2013 17:07

Love Actually here for the grownups, they should never have cut so much of Emma Thompson.

For the kids? The Snowman.

ItStillLooksLikeRainDear · 08/12/2013 17:12

Elf all the way!

dolceetdecorum · 08/12/2013 17:14

White Christmas! Watch it every year whilst wrapping presents - such a lovely film.

Die Hard. I don't do sentimental, not even at Christmas but I do enjoy a bit of Bruce Willis yippee-kay-yaying.

Shosha1 · 08/12/2013 17:23

DGD always had the Marie Osmond Christmas Tree (originally on Video) in his Xmas Eve Hamper.

That has brought back a few memories :)

CorrieDale · 08/12/2013 17:25

A muppet Christmas carol. 'We're Marley & Marleeey'. Love it! Also love it's a wonderful life but have to be in the right mood for it, whereas the Muppets will put me into the right mood.

petitdonkey · 08/12/2013 17:26

Elf!!!

Just watched Polar Express with the kiddies inspired by this thread - it was good but I don't love it.

I also love Love Actually but why, oh why, did they feel the need to add in the naked body doubles simulating sex???? It just means that it will be ages before I let the DC watch it with me, apart from that section, it's magical. (and have you watched the deleted scenes with the Headmistress? So lovely)

oldsilver · 08/12/2013 17:28

Without a doubt .... Bad Santa.

It's got everything you could ask for - Father Christmas, cute kid who needs looking after, love story. And of course, a moral at the end Xmas Grin

Is Santa Claus The Movie the one where they have to sing to get the sleigh to rise above Central Park - if so I vote for that one, and that bit Xmas Smile
Polar Express also very good and love the traditional Christmas Carol - great to watch together on Christmas Eve. Elf also amusing and festive.
But I guess it's traditional first past the post voting huh, or it could get complicated Xmas Grin

DancingLady · 08/12/2013 17:32

It's a Wonderful Life.

Isn't Meet Me in St Louis Christmassy (at some point? maybe the end?). If so, that's a good one too.

And Elf!

EauRougemasTree · 08/12/2013 17:32

I like Bad Santa for those cynical Bah Humbug moments.

Nightmare Before Christmas is brilliant, my DDs aren't quite old enough for it yet.

Elf is ace.

It's a Wonderful Life is a classic.

Cutteduppumpkin · 08/12/2013 17:35

Scrooged, without a doubt.

HidingUnderMyDuvet · 08/12/2013 17:35

Definitely Love Actually in this house!

MerryMelawen · 08/12/2013 17:35

I love Christmas films! There have been some very corny ones on the telly these last few weekends! I love Santa Claus the movie, and also Patrick Stewart's Christmas Carol (I once saw him do a live performance as a one man show - it was just brilliant!).

OLittleTownOfBarflehem · 08/12/2013 17:37

No, that's elf. Santa Claus is the one with dudley moore and the lollipops. Xmas Grin I'm trying to add all the faves.
