ELC sometimes have cracker-making kits (I can't remember how childish they were, though)

IsaacCox · 06/10/2013 18:26

I've bought some cracker kits from Hobbycraft before

MistressIggi · 06/10/2013 18:28

Nancy25's idea sounds good. I would not like two threads etc, wouldn't we all get confused? But heckling on my phone is a struggle because of the length of the OP which loads really slowly - wouldn't want to do without the list, but could find it easily if first post.

I gave up on an online boots order and shopped in store instead today. I do think some of their original prices are a bit inflated, but have got a few presents sorted. Men are always the trouble!

Reastie · 06/10/2013 18:41

I can do the OP as the second message if you like??? The main reason for the OP is as lots of people when it started off last year kept asking for/repeating codes which wasted alot of messages and so the long OP was born. Is everyone happy with that for the next thread?

Someone posting for cracker making kits - there's one on zulily at the min in their 'christmas wrapped up' bit. I've also bought some in the past from Hawkins bazaar but they weren't that nice visually.

OP posts:
Reastie · 06/10/2013 18:43

Oh, and who was asking about new magazine subscription offers, there's one on the OP for a photography mag with free gorillapod (under P for photography magazine) which was mentioned towards the end of the last thread. Another one we found to not get the free gift until the second direct debit was taken so didn't add that one and OP has info on the Glamour mag subscription with free body shop stuff (under G for glamour Grin ). It's one of those alphabet order system that makes perfect sense to me under what I put things as but not to anyone else

OP posts:
VoldemortsNipple · 06/10/2013 18:52

Thanks Reastie, I've seen those ones. I'm sure somebody, maybe Janx, had said they bought a couple of magazines in the shop which had different subscription offers in.

AuntieMaggie · 06/10/2013 18:57

Aww Reastie it makes sense to me too :)

I'm looking to make an advent calendar for DP... what's the easiest way to do this? Is there a kit I can buy?

Doshusallie · 06/10/2013 18:58

caN we have a real push on ideas for blokes? Dh's brothers are soooooo hard to buy for?

milk · 06/10/2013 19:02

www.sportsdirect.com/accessories/gifts-and-toys?mppp=true&mcp=1

Sports Direct have some good bargains you can pre-order for early November delivery...

Oreocrumbs · 06/10/2013 19:05

Disney store, a lot of the medium soft toys are reduced to £12 from £18/£20 A better deal if you have a store near you as the cost of delivery will put you back where you started if you order online!

50ShadesofXmas · 06/10/2013 19:07

Aww reastie youre doing a grand job Flowers

AuntieMaggie · 06/10/2013 19:15

I have 2 adult males to buy for in their 60s... I hate buying for them!

NeverQuiteSure · 06/10/2013 19:18

I love love love those Santa is coming to... books 500internalerror even though we live in the UK and he's actually called Father Christmas and not bloody Santa Claus

Our local one is £4.99 and despite swearing I would not buy any more books, I'm very sorely tempted...

As for lightening Reastie's workload; my possibly hair brained suggestion is for the OP to link to a google documents spreadsheet with all the current links and codes.

How to set up here and How to make publically viewable here

We still get through threads at a rate of knots, but possibly easier for Reastie since updating the spreadsheet could be done at any point in/between threads.

3birthdaybunnies · 06/10/2013 19:20

Thanks Reastie your code post is great but it might help those of us on phones to have it as the second post. But refer to it in the first post so anyone new to the thread can easily find it, and everyone hold off posting until the second post is up.

Maybe try it for thread 12 and see what people prefer, we can soon go back to the original for posts 13-100!

500internalerror · 06/10/2013 19:26

What a relief that two of you like the Santa books - I never seem to come up with popular suggestions GrinGrin

TwerkingNinetoFive · 06/10/2013 19:28

Thanks for the cracker suggestions, I've decided to buy the snaps and make them from wrapping paper with instructions I found when I googled it.

NeverQuiteSure · 06/10/2013 19:28

Almost forgot - I went into Wilkinsons today and there are loads of well priced toys that do not appear on their website. Such as some nice looking fashion dolls (think a less slutty version of Bratz) in fairy/mermaid/princess for £3.50 and 'little sister' type versions for £2 and some little vehicle sets including a military style truck with two hotwheels-sized tanks for £1.

I also popped into Aldi where they had a lot of colourful and well priced silicone bakeware and Monsters Inc (or possibly Monsters University?) fairy cake making kits reduced down to 69p.

Bloodsocks · 06/10/2013 19:35

Response re blueberries:

Some of the Blueberry plants are sold in 9cm pots and I would not recommend keeping these until Christmas in the same pot, they would need to be potted on. However plants sold in 1.5 litre and bigger should be quite happy for a few months provided you follow the aftercare instructions.

janx · 06/10/2013 19:43

Hi
Not subscription offers but I did see nice freebies with mags. I bought the Shite in style for £2 as it had a nice travel kit of Ren products (bigger than the teeny tiny manuka onesWink)

lagoonhaze · 06/10/2013 19:44

Hello where is everyone getting the kindle codes from?

Im tempted to treat myself!

ProtectiveMother · 06/10/2013 19:47

Thanks again Reastie! x

raisah · 06/10/2013 19:49

Baskets for your xmas hampers:

www.homebargains.co.uk/products/5836-christmas-luxury-hamper-basket.aspx

£5:99 for a medium one & £6:99 for a large one.

Damnautocorrect · 06/10/2013 19:50

Thanks reastie,
Might start a "can everyone put a pound in, just got my credit card statement in" thread!
Although other than three or four pressies I'm done so thank you ladies

VoldemortsNipple · 06/10/2013 19:50

I have realised my super bargain hunting has lead to a potentially expensive problem. I have bought Dh's niece's the Zhu Zhu puppies and squinkies bundles. I've been very organised and wrapped them all up. They each have a huge stack of presents to open.

Now the problem is, what about the nephew. He is only 7. I'm going to have to Give him a stack too arnt I. I was thinking about some Angry Birds stuff as this is going cheap in Home Bargains. Can anybody help me out. I want to get 4-5 presents hopefully under £15.

There is a lot of history with sil and Christmas presents, who love a bargain more than I do. But buys my dcs utter shit in the process. Last year, nearly 14yo ds was given an aged 10 t-shirt. Sad Meaning I really don't want to go over budget.

Marne · 06/10/2013 19:52

Just got a few nice bargains from Zulily (you need to join but its easy), got a car/road rug for £6.99 and a chocolate making kit for dd2 which includes 3 silicone chocolate moulds and a little melting pan for £8.99, lots of other nice bits on there too.
