From Robotgate to Vertbaudetgate, it’s the Christmas bargain thread

girlwiththeyellowhats do we have any news yet? <impatient>

Fifth thread already, how did that happen?! I’ve booked our panto tickets now so am feeling very festive grin . Tips I learnt from the last thread number 24837 - wrap a huge cardboard box in christmas gift wrap to put all the rubbish on christmas day in rather than a bin bag so you don’t get a black plastic sack in all of the photos

Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren’t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don’t work or if there’s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous grin

I put this on the Xmas hamper thread but if you google the Christmas emporium it's a all year Xmas shop that sells baubles and can personalise them. We bought 1 for our ds last year from the shop.

RhondaJean Mon 02-Sep-13 21:13:06

WOOO I'm here...

Nothing to offer right now though sorry.

Just thought I'd close out the last thread!

No news, hope I don't see another thread filled up whilst still brewing this baby

Slainte Mon 02-Sep-13 21:28:56

We're flying through these threads. How many do you think we'll get to by Christmas?!

Thanks again Reastie smile

Slainte Mon 02-Sep-13 21:30:40

Oh girlwith you've still got a bit to go so you never know!! The countdown must be hard, I never got there as was induced early.

WaitMonkey Mon 02-Sep-13 21:32:34

grin at the title.

I picked up a Lego friends pet parlour set in Tesco this morning. Only £7.50, still marked up on the shelf as £30. so probably a miss price. £22.20 on Amazon. Worth checking out if your going to Tesco.

Neeko Mon 02-Sep-13 21:33:03

Wow Reastie. Another epic post. You ladies are so good at these bargains though I'm struggling to keep up with you all. Have just ordered some of those lovely mugs for myself and my coffee switching colleagues.
Don't have anything to add for bargains though I'm keeping my eyes peeled.
Thanks again all.

Leilandri Mon 02-Sep-13 21:38:03

flowers Reastie Thread 5 already! grin

WaitMonkey Mon 02-Sep-13 21:40:41

Girl when are you due ? Is it your first ? A Christmas bargain thread baby. So exciting.

ilove have you heard from Vetbaudet again yet ?

Oreocrumbs Mon 02-Sep-13 21:43:08

Many thanks and much cake again Reastie!

I know on the last thread I linked to the princess nighties in Argos and Poppy posted about the Thomas set, but I've had another look and there are quite a few more bargains on there.

Several sets of slippers for £1.99, there is a peppa pig version of the £10 Thomas set, some peppa pig slipper boots for £5 that I've reserved for DD, and other reduced nightwear. Worth a little look.

Thanks Reastie

paperclipsarebetterthanstaples Mon 02-Sep-13 21:50:59

Thanks for all the work you've put in again Reastie cake

Vertbaudet sent me a wooden pull along train to replace the bag (i emailed before I received the bag but tbh didn't think it was that bad for a freebie). The train is fab!

iloveholidays Mon 02-Sep-13 21:52:58

Thanks for the 10% off at Book People (NBACK). I'd been umming over whether to buy the 20 classic collection books so decided to go for it. £18 for 20 books is pretty good going. MUST NOT BUY ANY MORE BOOKS!!!!

WaitMonkey. I gave up with vertbaudet, they were not budging at all, said they couldn't discuss other customers blah blah blah. I will not be shopping with them again. Also posted a comment on their Facebook page. I'm really tempted to return my items, but bought a cute outfit for my new nephew and a lovely dress for DD (which she doesn't need).

LaTrucha Mon 02-Sep-13 21:55:09

Thanks reastie!

GeekInThePink Mon 02-Sep-13 21:55:47

Hello! Sending you labour vibes girls

Love those magpie mugs...darn it doing mugs last year!

If anyone sees any Emma Bridgewater can they let me know please?

cake and brew for all

God I feel quite schizophrenic, on the one hand looking resolutely away from talk of Christmas Eve hot choc and baileys ( but easily imaging some kind of wunder Christmas )and on the other hand celebrating the end of the summer holidays.
I need to be careful tho', I lose my job on Christmas Eve (really) so I may obsess with making this Christmas too perfect as a distraction.
Thanks to reastie as always for the summation.

GeekInThePink Mon 02-Sep-13 21:56:26

I mean [cake ] and brew obviously! blush

GeekInThePink Mon 02-Sep-13 21:56:38

I give up cake

joymaker Mon 02-Sep-13 21:57:34

Reastie cake thanks

Leilandri thanks for the link to those advent candles on the Ace website, either of them would have fitted the bill nicely, the postage to me though would be an eye watering £5.99 unfortunately

GeekInThePink Mon 02-Sep-13 21:57:36

Thanks reastie <<quietly leaves and goes to bed>>

I returned my Vertbaudet items. Didn't like the pink t-shirt for DD. The sportsbag was ugly. I did get the toolbox in another order, which I paid nothing for at all, as they sent it on its own and canceled the item I ordered.

Leilandri Mon 02-Sep-13 22:03:12

joymaker Ace is the same as Studio, I believe. I recieve the Ace catalogue, my Dmum recieves the Studio one and they are identical. Apparently code 032 works with studio for free delivery? Worth a search ... I recieved my candle today (chose the tall white one) and it is lovely. Going in my 1st December hamper that accompanies our Elfs arrival grin

joymaker Mon 02-Sep-13 22:03:27

LEGO Friends Readers - 4 Books £4.99 at the Book People and cheaper still with the new 10% off code posted in OP

PoppyWearer Mon 02-Sep-13 22:05:58

Thank you reastie thanksthanksthanksthanksthanksthanks

iloveholidays I bought that Book People Classic Collection for my DD a while back and she loves them!

joymaker Mon 02-Sep-13 22:07:35

Leilandri thanks for the tip wink

iloveholidays Mon 02-Sep-13 22:13:38

Great, thanks Poppy. I know DD1 will love them, it's just we have so many books I'd been putting it off grin

kiwidreamer Mon 02-Sep-13 22:15:24

Loving ths years bargain threads, thanks Reastie! Ive reserved a £9.99 designafriend doll for DD's Xmas, thanks to person who posted in last gasps of previous thread smile

I tried my luck with Vertbaudet too, god that sports bag was vile and I ended up with 3 from 2 orders when they said they wouldn't send a second bag and would replace with a CARS beach towel, I phoned back today as got bag with second order no towel and got crappy bollocks from their CS saying towel now out of stock so would more than likely have crap sports bag number 3 on its way booooooo will return at max expense to Vertbaudet!!

WaitMonkey Mon 02-Sep-13 22:18:12

ilove I don't understand how they have gotten away with treating people so differently. I won't be using them again. sad

itsonlysubterfuge Mon 02-Sep-13 22:19:52

Thanks for thread number 5!

WithConfidence Mon 02-Sep-13 22:20:44

Sorry kiwi but the three sportsbags has made me laugh.

DTisMYdoctor Mon 02-Sep-13 22:24:12

I've just seen someone post on another thread that the playmobil pyramid is £39.99 at toys r us - good price for this I think.

NigellaEllaElla Mon 02-Sep-13 22:25:26

Thanks Reastie thanks

Thanks Reastie
My book people order arrived today with Lego readers and the captain Flynn series as presents.

I want to know NOW who my Secret Santa is so that I can buy a mug

Littlemousewithcloggson Mon 02-Sep-13 22:35:27

Yay, another thread, thank you reastie

Smyths toys have the imaginext T. rex for £25 instead of £40. Amazon cheapest is £35 including postage so it's quite a bit cheaper.

Freemilk Mon 02-Sep-13 22:41:26

Was in B&M today got a Lego ninjago set from over 7 pounds to 3.99 it was small but not a super common one since my dc didn't have it already sorry can't tell you which it is in the boot!
They also had a little disney doll (the one with the dress you clip on) for 2.99 Cinderella, Snow White Ariel, etc
asda had the new Disney mermaid DVD for £10 (not sure if that is good or not)

Freemilk Mon 02-Sep-13 22:42:18

Oh and when I looked last night you could get the Christmas finger puppets for 1.51 on eBay.

Freemilk Mon 02-Sep-13 22:43:20

Still resisting the magpie mugs but only just!

ProtectiveMother Mon 02-Sep-13 22:46:01

Thanks for this. I need boys (and maybe girls) towel dressing gowns. Pref not character ones. They change their minds about what character they like and then refuse to wear :-)

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Mon 02-Sep-13 22:54:29

Another bargain book, everyone

Only £1.99 + £2.80 delivery so only £4.79 all in. Going for around £10-£14 elsewhere.

Lovely hardback Disney Fairies Ultimate Guide.

Oh god, I've bought dd around 15 books for Christmas (and that's counting the 'collections' as just one book.) blush. Luckily it's her birthday 2 weeks afterwards, so I suppose I can split them.

IJustNeedANap Mon 02-Sep-13 22:57:49

5th thread already . WOW. We are doing well! Thanks Reastie thanks

I've seriously over spent these last few weeks so all the good bargins need to wait a week before I can buy them sad

shock when did MN get cake ??

JaquelineHyde Mon 02-Sep-13 23:06:28

Bloody hell 5th one already! I missed the entire 4th thread as I have no money thanks to the bloody school uniform shop angry

Hopefully I can start buying in the next week or so, but I suspect we shall be on thread 9 or 10 by then grin

Slainte Mon 02-Sep-13 23:06:50

Thanks Ewe just ordered the fairy book. smile

Trazzletoes Mon 02-Sep-13 23:08:47

Reastie you're fabulouys thanks

VoldemortsNipple Mon 02-Sep-13 23:09:16

Thanks for the new thread Reastie smile

I was in home bargains today and they had loads of Angry Birds toys in stock. DN had one of these sets last year and loved it. You get blocks to build towers and then have to knock them down.

They also had a pink cosy coupè for £40 but I can't see it on the website.

Trazzletoes Mon 02-Sep-13 23:09:37

Argos have an Octonauts Gup-A play tent at half price - £9.99

blondieminx Mon 02-Sep-13 23:09:46

fabulous, obvs. That sounded like I was from Birmingham for a minute there! grin

skyeskyeskye Mon 02-Sep-13 23:12:55

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest Mon 02-Sep-13 23:55:09

Hardback Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator 2.69 (RRP 12.99). smile Plan on giving this to dd alongside her pop-up Charlie. Cheapest I've seen the Glass Elevator so far; currently going for £9.09 on Amazon, so a great price.

Fairy Unicorn Riding Stables Pop up book 2.69 RRP 14.99 Looks really good and looks like it can be used as a play set too. There's a picture of it open here on Amazon for a better look.

Peter Pan Pop up and Sound book 4.04 (RRP 14.99) from the Book People too.

I used 'THANKS' for free delivery from the Book People. And 'NBACK' for 10% off (the prices shown above are including this 10% off) - Thanks for these!

Pop up Alice in Wonderland Book 4.99 (RRP 14.99) from The Works

Might be worth holding out for a free delivery code though if not buying any additional items from The Works. DEL10 gets you free delivery when you spend £10 or over. Just missed out on a 20% off offer which expired at midnight. angry

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Tue 03-Sep-13 01:41:51

The Works - Disney TinkerBell How to draw Fairies only 2.49 (RRP 9.99)

Use DEL10 for free delivery on orders over £10

And this looks wonderful. "The ultimate must-own Barbie DVD Collection. 19 titles compiled in a jewellery box ? every little girl?s dream come true!" 39.20 (RRP 99.99)

The DVDs normally go for around £4-£5 each, so 19 for £39.20 is very much a bargain indeed.

(Feel the need to point out I'm not up this late because of my bargain hunting. Waiting up on a phone call and trying to kill time and stop myself falling asleep ) grin

onetiredmummy Tue 03-Sep-13 06:54:05

I could be the only one excited about this, but I've been looking for the Playmobil Ancient Egyptian pyramid for most of the year for DS2 this Christmas. There's 2nd hand ones on ebay but always with stuff missing & over £35 + shipping whilst the new ones range from £55-£80.

I've just found it on Toys R Us for £40 with free delivery & wanted to share in case anyone else was looking smile

Discount code is Grizzlies and there's also free postage if your order is over £30 (saving £4.95.....I think).

BornToFolk Tue 03-Sep-13 08:26:02

Oooh, I got DS one of those Arm and Hammer toothbrushes for his stocking last year - great value for £1!

Marking my place. I've got lots of 1 year olds to buy for this year as there was a bit of a baby boom in 2012 - any ideas gratefully received!

Anther thread already! Thanks OP (shameless place mark here!)

98percentchocolate Tue 03-Sep-13 08:38:46

Ooh barbeasty where were the Xmas books from? Sounds perfect for my Xmas book tree!

I heard a rumour that tesco have lower prices on the in store toys than marked on shelf. Discounts not appearing on website either so worth a look!

Theonlyoneiknow Tue 03-Sep-13 08:39:45

Thanks Reastie.!!

RockySpeed Tue 03-Sep-13 08:50:09

I've been making friends jealous with how organised for Christmas this year. I've a good excuse though (not that we need an excuse of course!) dc2 is due in 6 weeks grin

RockySpeed Tue 03-Sep-13 08:51:33

Apologies, that last message didn't make total sense! Sure you got the gist..

BuffyFairy Tue 03-Sep-13 08:57:00

Thanks Reastie thanks

Must not buy any more books.

DangerousMouse Tue 03-Sep-13 09:01:39

Can anyone help me finding the best deal for an ipod touch? My DD wants one for christmas, I think it's a 4th gen we are after. Does amazon tend to be competitive on things like this?

Littlemousewithcloggson Tue 03-Sep-13 09:06:54

For the last 3 years tesco has had a toy sale around this date, up to 80% off. Usually all gone in a morning and some fantastic bargains. Usually held within a few days of kids going back to school. Worth keeping an eye out for

ecofreckle Tue 03-Sep-13 09:15:02

Hello from a lurker who never finds anything exciting to share but has purchased lots of things suggested: thank you!
I am not sure it qualifies as a mega bargain but I got these Eric Carle first books for baby sets for a few babies I know at £3: baby books
Also, anyone have their Magpie mugs delivered yet - are they ok?
I'll keep endeavouring to find somethng useful to contribute (am going into city later today)

Barbeasty Tue 03-Sep-13 09:21:38

98percent here are the books, taken from a link on the last thread.

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Tue 03-Sep-13 09:35:23

I have also discovered to track Amazon prices for the past year thanks to these threads. Very interesting to see patterns and what month prices usually increase/decrease, and what might be worth holding out for.

Just a warning, that Tinkerbell Draw book has now gone up to £5 from £2.49 at The Works since the early hours of this morning. Very sneaky.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Tue 03-Sep-13 09:40:02

I've been lurking on these threads & have picked up a few bargains along the way - cath kidston bracelet, fitness mag subscription, celia birtwell scarves from uniqlo, book bundles from whsmith to name a few. Also eyeing up the magpie site, but need to wait for the 'a' cup to come back in stock.

Does anyone know of the best place to buy a Micro 2 wheeler scooter, the aluminium ones? have checked jojo to see if I can use the code in the op but I think they only do the micro scooters.

I will keep my eyes open for bargains and post any I see.

Now have to focus on the grown ups gifts.

GaryBuseysTeeth Tue 03-Sep-13 12:05:59

Ds1 turns 2 just before Christmas, aside from Happyland stuff (which I've been putting away since last year) what else would you get a 2yr old that's also safe to play with around a 4 month old (ds2 is 5wks)?
Wooden kitchen?

Thanks to this thread I've no more toys to buy but need ideas/bargains for 10 yo dd. Also, if anyone spots any good laptop deals I'd be forever grateful.

craigslittleangel Tue 03-Sep-13 12:44:29

The Silver Cross children's pram arrived this morning at nanas. Apparently it looks great. My mum is very pleased to have got it for £20. Thanks again for those who posted about that Amazon flash sale.

jamtoast12 Tue 03-Sep-13 13:00:05

Shopping officially started! Thought I'd start on the Xmas stockings (literally what goes in their hung up stocking..not their extra stocking fillers iyswim?)

Pack of 3 heart shape post it stickers 35p wilkinsons
Cupcake shape lip gloss £1 in primark
Crayons twist crayons and felt tips half price in sainsburys £1.50

And my personal best so far....
Pink "Magnetic" heart shape earrings (magnetic earrings!!!!, who knew! why have I never heard of these!!!, dds aged 8&6 will love them. smile £3.50 from Claire's accessorise for on 3 for 2.

On I'm on a roll but trying to think before I buy this year instead of being blinded by bargains!

jamtoast12 Tue 03-Sep-13 13:03:30

Tried to link earrings but the ones i got aren't on their site...i did see these though...

Not in the sale I know but so cute...will have to get mine them!

JustBecauseICan Tue 03-Sep-13 13:07:20

couch- I would wait until about 10 days before Christmas for laptops and Big Electronic Things. Places like John Lewis tend to go discount bonkers in the immediate runup. Got dd's Toshiba satellite for just over £200 in the first week of December last year. It had been £350 in November.

skyeskyeskye Tue 03-Sep-13 13:34:31

I found some great bargains in Poundland in Minehead, not sure if it is the same store to store? The Carrie Diaries novel, Katie Price novel, both hardbacks, Rimmell and Maybelline makeup, and a Waybaloo set of 1 toothbrush and 2 tubes of toothpaste all costing £1 obviously

Great stocking fillers or for making up a parcel

FriskyHenderson Tue 03-Sep-13 13:35:27

I went to M&S this morning but couldn't find anything in the sale - I was looking for the bargain cashmere PJs sad But came home to yet more Amazon parcels grin

Anyone else waiting for the Club Penguin book?

Pinebarrens Tue 03-Sep-13 13:38:49

marking my place..again...thanks reastie

jamtoast12 Tue 03-Sep-13 13:39:18

Anyone seen any monster high tattoo sheets or stickers? Amzon have then for £1.50 per sheets but wandered if they are cheaper as the sheets only have about 10 on. I've tried home bargains etc

Mainly marking my place but has anyone seen any Xmas pyjamas about? I mean pyjamas in Xmas fabric rather than just normal pj's. I always get the kids some (usually from Primark) and wondered if anyone had seen any in stock in any shops yet?

98percentchocolate Tue 03-Sep-13 14:25:45

Thank you for the advent books!

ilove this is what I'm aiming for in DD's room: tree

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 14:28:02

Any fans of the IT Crowd. Series 1-4 only £8...

[ here]

iloveholidays I've just realised that the 1st December is a sunday, so I'm planning a festive day - not that I'm getting carried away - oh no!! Just ordered a couple of Xmas DVDs from amazon - the nativity and miracle on 34th street - used but like new for less than £3 delivered, so I'm going to put them in the hamper along with some craft and baking things - has anyone found cheap christmas cookie cutters?

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 14:29:35

98 wow, don't think I'd even try to attempt that smile

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 14:30:15

Will try again

IT Crowd series 1-4 8

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 14:37:28

working sounds like me smile we've already booked in the in-laws for 1st to help do the decorations. smile

I bought a cookie set from the works last year. It had some cutter, a mini rolling pin, decorating set and a recipe book. Think it was £2.99.

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 14:39:51

Sounds perfect iloveholidays hopefully they'll have similar this year.

God I can't keep up now I'm back at work!!

coveredinweetabix Tue 03-Sep-13 14:50:18

For those who've bought too many books, my tip would be to give a couple for Xmas and birthdays and save the rest to bring out throughout the year. DD gets a new book from the cupboard each month and then will get extra ones if we're going on holiday, on a long car journey, she's a bit under the weather etc. They also make a good emergency present when you suddenly realise that you've forgotten a child's birthday.
I'm also planning a full on festive day on 1st December. Tree purchasing followed by trip to coffee shop or restaurant (a rare treat for DD but something she loves), biscuit making, paper chain making etc

MooseyMoo Tue 03-Sep-13 14:50:18

For those doing fragrance samples for advent calendar, you can request sample of Gucci Guilty for free

Theonlyoneiknow Tue 03-Sep-13 15:08:30

I got some Xmas shaped cookie cutters in Ikea last year

patchesmcp Tue 03-Sep-13 15:10:10

Just wanted to join in and say thanks for all the bargains. I've been lurking for ages and thought it was about time I posted to say thank you.

Also wanted to say Amazon have a paperback version of The Night Before Christmas down to £2.05 which is the lowest it's been I think. RRP is £6.99 and it's free delivery.

Link is here

That's the first time I've done a link so hope it works!

ShoopShoop Tue 03-Sep-13 15:27:46

Oooh - mugs have arrived here smile. I'm really pleased with them. They're not totally perfect - some small flecks on the transfers but it doesn't detract from them at all. They're really quirky - I hope everyone else is pleased with theirs. thanks to whoever provided the original link.

Oh and I'm really sorry the letter A is now out of stock.....all 3 of my BIL's names begin with A grin blush

Good grief I look away and there's over 100 messages!

Thanks whoever recommended the Morph set - came today and is great.

pickofthepops Tue 03-Sep-13 15:47:34

Ilikeaweetpeas the pop up version is not the full text of the paperback but a long story nonetheless, more than just picture book length.

CoffeeOne Tue 03-Sep-13 15:55:56

Ooh glad you like the morph set, that was my first recommendation and I was all worried haha!

Bought the night before christmas book patches thanks it looks lovely.

ilikesweetpeas Tue 03-Sep-13 16:00:14

Thanks pickofthepops- it looks lovely so think I will order!

Theonlyoneiknow Tue 03-Sep-13 16:01:04

NBACK gives 10% off at Book People, couldnt get the Birthday 25% code to work .;(

coveredinweetabix Tue 03-Sep-13 16:15:01

For those asking earlier about Xmas PJs/jumpers, JoJo Maman and Boots already have theirs online. I think Primark get theirs in around October and I'm going to get mine from there this year, well certainly DS' jumper as it will only be worn a couple of times. DD's Xmas PJs only went in the charity bag the other day as they have been her favourite pair this year.

coveredinweetabix Tue 03-Sep-13 16:22:27

And Boots seem to have a new "up to 50% off toys" sale. Its mainly pre-school stuff but includes some bubble bath things, watches etc. I'm going to get DD the Gruffalo electric toothbrush & expanding flannel for either her stocking or the hamper.

Argh tesco piss me off. You have to show id when you want to collect something. Dp is going past later and they won't let him pick it up it has to be me so I have to make a special journey to our nearest tesco (20 minutes away hmm) to pick it up angry

LaTrucha Tue 03-Sep-13 16:46:57

They've got BIRDIES too!

MissElodie Tue 03-Sep-13 16:56:00

TheEndTisHere Tue 03-Sep-13 17:43:35

Thank you LaTrucha Just placed an order on The Gifted Penguin £1.95 was an automatic discount I don't know if that's just on sale items. But I'm grin as will my Dsis

Posted this at the end of the last thread -
Argos design a friend dolls are half price at 9.99. Really lovely little girl dolls with brush able hair and different outfits. They have only reduced the dark haired ones though

I went into Primark after the kids' swimming lesson today. They had a few bits of Xmas stuff. I got myself some pyjamas (I missed out on the ones I wanted last year as they'd sol out before I saw them) and some slippers (not Xmas ones but still quite winter themed), some non-xmas pj's for the kids (they won't be bothered about the pattern) and I got Dh some Xmas slippers and some superman lounge pants reduced to £5 from £9 (cos they didn't have any Xmas ones).

Not entirely sure Dh liked them but I think he was just relieved I hadn't bought him a Xmas jumper grin

I also got a pack of 5 toothbrushes for 75p. It'll all go in the Xmas eve box hamper along with the book I bought from a link on here, the Santa key we bring out every year, some sweets, some alcohol and some reindeer food.

olivo Tue 03-Sep-13 18:12:41

Oh Lordy, 150 posts already, I'm playing catch up! That's what I bet for going back to work, but at least my credit card has had a rest!

iloveholidays Tue 03-Sep-13 18:16:48

yabbadabba Tue 03-Sep-13 19:29:19

No free gift yet. A mumsnetter said that they send the gift afterwards so that people don't get the gift first then cancel the magazine subscription.
I think she said it takes up to 28 days for the gift to arrive.

PoppyWearer Tue 03-Sep-13 19:32:54

I came back to post about Stick Man but see you have already spotted it! Good work! A brilliant Christmas buy!

PoppyWearer Tue 03-Sep-13 19:36:28

Glad to hear some mugs have arrived! I missed my delivery today.

VoldemortsNipple Tue 03-Sep-13 19:37:10

I've been to Tesco to pick up my Squinkies and Zhu Zhu bundles. I can report they are both great and DNiece' s will feel very spoilt opening all the parcels. In fact I've just ordered another set to put away for a birthday just after Christmas.

Slainte Tue 03-Sep-13 20:00:32

Don't know if anyone's posted about this discounted Peppa Pig Garden Toolkit.

Slainte Tue 03-Sep-13 20:03:00

The Duplo number train has dropped down even further now, to £7! I bought it last month for DD's birthday and it went down really well.

TheEndTisHere Tue 03-Sep-13 20:50:14

Oreocrumbs I love that train set do you think it would be terrible to buy my bump (2.5ish month old at xmas)? was in a mothercare outlet yesterday and nearly bought bump a ball came was £15 down from £50 but as DH said bump wont be able to play with it till she's about 10 months sad <Goes off to think of a way to shrink DD's>

I paid £8.65 and thought that was a good price, it's a good set, DD plays with it a lot (it was her 3rd bday).

Oreo shhh dd is 3 but I'm telling myself she's too old for it wink

NigellaEllaElla Tue 03-Sep-13 21:01:09

Freemilk Tue 03-Sep-13 21:20:45

Was in Sainsburys and tesco today (forgot the chicken grrr)
Anyway tesco has summer type toys reduced the one I was in had very little left but it did have a few sand and water tables prices at 3.75 (I think) we bought some great craft tubes with three or four crafts in for £2 including a make your own pirate ship and a girly tube for a gift with handbag, flowers etc. They also had mister maker for 1.50 (50p off) all make good stocking fillers.

Sainsburys also had lots of craft kits reduced including foam alphabet letters for 1.25 and some reduced school/maths stuff

Found both shops really trying though!!

Sainsburys were interestingly taking all the reduced toys off the shelves not sure why

B&M bargains had Disney Squinkies and the carriage dispenser thingy for quite cheap prices

Tesco also had cheap Squinkies

Sorry I am not good at finding the exact stuff to link to it but I wanted to try and contribute

raisah Tue 03-Sep-13 21:23:54

Have a look in B&M for toys. I bought 2 from the peppa pig range for £5 less than rrp. Both my dc have e winter birthdays but luckily I don't have the added expense of Christmas.

RhondaJean Tue 03-Sep-13 21:42:38

Thank you to whoever it was posted about stopmotion film kits in response to my DDs list. I've found some nice kits for around the £50 mark which is ideal as the software alone for the green screen video editing is £220 plus and at 9 I dont think she would get money's worth from that!

So not a bargain as such but saved me loads and will make her very happy.

chestnut100 Tue 03-Sep-13 23:42:24

Loads of the yellow ticket toys at tesco are scanning much cheaper than the label suggests. Top bargains today; light up Cinderella from £30 to £7, some kind of pony that walks on a lead £33 to £5.50, transformers down to £2 and large light up tonka trucks to £1.50. Get to tescos and get scanning!

Freemilk Wed 04-Sep-13 00:19:38

Oh chestnut didn't happen to us this morning
Do you know can anyone take a self scanner or do you need to be registered? would be good to check going round

RhondaJean Wed 04-Sep-13 04:47:52

Was that the my little pony walking pinkie pie at £5.50???

chestnut100 Wed 04-Sep-13 06:24:45

In our tescos there are random scanners around on walls ( a couple in the clothing area) that anyone can use to check prices. It seemed that the extra reductions were mainly on the items that were on the end of isles, the sort of clearance section? There really were some great bargains.

It wasn't my little pony unfortunately! I forget the brand but my daughter had a kitten version last year and it is still holding up nicely, an absolute steal for £5.50!

chimchar Wed 04-Sep-13 06:56:57

For those who missed the duplo train, if it's the one with number blocks our Sainsburys was selling it at £8.65. Lego friends sets and star wars also reduced.

Patilla Wed 04-Sep-13 09:52:36

It might be a bit random but they were also selling of party bag fillers very cheaply. One or two might be suitable as a little stocking filler for all those children inclined to adore plastic tat!

Pinebarrens this was on HUKD a few days ago, scuttlebug £12.50

WaitMonkey Wed 04-Sep-13 10:33:52

Thanks lily, I've subscribed.

Littlemousewithcloggson Wed 04-Sep-13 10:35:14

Spotty I ordered 3 by mistake proper mistake not like all the other things that I told my husband were and was going to return 1 but if theyre that good I might keep it for a present, can the set be split down at all?

Yes it's split into four. I'm really shocked tbh!

Glad my squinkie post helped someone, no tesco near me but i do keep an eye online

Littlemousewithcloggson Wed 04-Sep-13 10:42:50

Am definitely keeping the extra one then! Thank you . Am seriously considering buying another set as well then but I may end up getting divorced if i do!

Littlemousewithcloggson Wed 04-Sep-13 10:44:54

Thank you sister for the post although if my daughters now become addicted to them I might not be thanking you !!!!!!!!!!! grin

littlemouse i do not want to be responsible for anyones divorce due to massive squinkie over purchasing smile

VeeAndTea Wed 04-Sep-13 10:45:24

Am a lurker, but had to say thanks for
1) the Squinkies - two nieces will be VERY happy at Christmas
2) The Duplo Train - my nephew will be impressed
3) Numerous other things that will make my DS think that we are loaded
and finally for the Magpie links - gorgeous mugs!

LoreleisSecret Wed 04-Sep-13 11:52:22

Are the squinkies only for girls? Any boy versions? Looks like something my DS1 would love (but i definitely couldnt persuade him to play with Disney princesses!) hmm

we have got squinkies of a crane dispenser and spiderman dispenser with little basketball type player figures. they were from Home and bargains and B and M and amazon

The duplo train is back down to £8.64 here .

muchostinky Wed 04-Sep-13 11:59:26

Lots of Squinkies for boys - I got my DS some last year for his stocking

MissElodie Wed 04-Sep-13 12:05:48

oh gosh I think I need to hide this thread. I've just had a quick look in the loft where I've stored all my bargain presents that I've been collecting for the DC and god knows who elses family birthday and Christmas presents and I've got stuff I didn't even know I had and had totally forgotten about shock.

Think my DP may be right when he says I've got a problem blush. I best not ask him to collect the squinkies I've just ordered smile!

LoreleisSecret Wed 04-Sep-13 12:09:36

Thank you Supermario, going to buy the Spider-Man now! His favourite smile

we have the spiderman smile is a handy place to keep them too save them rolling about all over the place

LoreleisSecret Wed 04-Sep-13 12:22:19

Seeings as you are all so good at this bargain hunting iam looking for a toddlers golf set (caddy) made of plastic for my DS2 (17 months!) Very basic.

We had a lovely Mickey Mouse bought from the Disney store that got accidentally given away by MIL hmm that he loved. Can no longer find that on sale! Any ideas bargain hunters?

Livvylongpants Wed 04-Sep-13 12:32:56

B&m do them for about £3, yellow plastic, 3 clubs, 3 balls, 2 holes and 2 flags all in a little yellow caddy.

Very nice my daughters got one

LoreleisSecret Wed 04-Sep-13 12:33:33

Thank you Livvy! You star x

Livvylongpants Wed 04-Sep-13 12:34:06

Livvylongpants Wed 04-Sep-13 12:34:19
lazzaroo Wed 04-Sep-13 12:37:38

Has anyone received their magpie mugs? Are seconds good enough to give as gifts?

JustBecauseICan Wed 04-Sep-13 12:44:42

Not a link, but a tip.......I always prowl round lovely but bloody expensive sites like Etsy and NotOnthehighstreet and then find exactly the same thing on ebay.

Last year I got Norwegian style tealight holders with red cut out santa frills for £2.99 each. They were £14.99 on NoTHS.

JustBecauseICan Wed 04-Sep-13 12:49:12

Oh you beasts!!!!! Why did I just go and look at these blessed Magpie things? Dd is mad about owls and they have so much lovely not-in-sale owl stuff. grin

WaitMonkey Wed 04-Sep-13 12:50:06

I wish Amazon would stop reducing all these brilliant books, I keep ordering them. sad grin

DD would have loved that golf set but I did see 16 of those squinkie things you've all been posting about (on the B&M site). Too small for my DD but they were £2.99.

500internalerror Wed 04-Sep-13 13:05:22

Tescos had a talking charley bear down to £3 today in store - sadly there was only one left, & his talking bit was missing from inside!

Boots have 3 for 2 on toys instore, but not much in our branch.

98percentchocolate Wed 04-Sep-13 13:15:44

No sign of toy sale at boots I'm afraid. Saw a few toys that I want to get dd and just need the discount now!

DD's birthday is Feb, do toys often come into the jan sales? I'm looking at duplo and the fisher price tea set in particular.

cheesecheeseplease Wed 04-Sep-13 13:17:58

what age would you say squinkies are for dns will be nearly 6&9

Penguinbeaver Wed 04-Sep-13 13:18:30

Anyone who of any nice personalised Christmas gifts for a baby's first Christmas? Needs to be post-able overseas so rules out baubles etc. thanks

The Book People are offering 10% off with the code BREEZE

JustBecauseICan Wed 04-Sep-13 13:20:41

cheese- squinkies would be perfect for 6 and 9 yr olds!

I am off to B and M this afternoon.

Just had an email from Photobox with 77% off photobooks. (maybe they have spotted I have been converted to albelli!)

ballinacup Wed 04-Sep-13 13:23:31

Penguin I bought DNiece a beautiful framed print with her name from eBay. Paid about £17 but they are available cheaper. Just search for 'framed name print'.

Name prints.

iloveholidays Wed 04-Sep-13 13:54:01

my samples have arrived for DP which I bought from eBay, really pleased with them. I've got 15 so not sure whether to do an advent calendar or just use for Christmas present. wonder whether DDs will question DP getting an advent calendar unless he does one for me!!! smile

Now you lot have made my buy a million books what will dd keep them in? We've got a sling book case but its already fairly full, any ideas?

Rugbylovingmum Wed 04-Sep-13 14:44:47

Spotty Teacakes - we have a very full sling bookcase too and the rest of our books are in a big box under the bed. Every 2 or 3 weeks I swap some of the books over and DD1 gets really excited about the 'new' ones all over again. When they were all out I found we just read the same books over and over - this works much better.

I've just discovered this thread and it's brilliant - thank you!!! Just off to Argos to collect some things I found in the link you posted to the half price sale. I have a Merida doll for DD1, a Vtech microphone for DD2 and a couple of Disney Princess Magic Clip Mini Dolls for DD1 and my niece.

TheEndTisHere Wed 04-Sep-13 14:48:45

SpottyTeacakes I made my DD's bed caddies very simple one here so easy to make your own if your a beginner.

Christmas hamper ideas here just swap from valentines day to Christmas and I just love these.

Pinebarrens Wed 04-Sep-13 14:52:08

wow thanks littlemouse ! I will check out my sainsburys thanks

Theonlyoneiknow Wed 04-Sep-13 15:38:42

I like the look of thèse

Maraki Wed 04-Sep-13 15:39:28

Book people have Lego Brickmaster Ninjago for £5.99 and code BREEZE gives you 10% off, so thats £5.40!!!

Fab present for little boys I think. I added some Usborne chocolate cookbook (£2.99) and a few Jamie Olivers to get free delivery, most of my Xmas shopping done!

Oh I like that theonly not sure where it would go though? Hmm end of her bed maybe...lots of good ideas though thanks smile

vix206 Wed 04-Sep-13 15:49:02

I'm a bit shock at the cardboard box thing for £13. We did this for DS with our own cardboard box for free. So easy to do yourself, and it's a great way to allow them to select and tidy away their own books smile

Spotty Teacakes - I would second rotating the books. We have one of the bigbooklittlebook boxes linked to earlier in the bottom of DD's wardrobe (where she can reach it), another on higher up in her wardrobe (where I can reach but she can't) and a basket in the living room (mostly for library books and our newest acquisitions)

DS is a little older and has bookshelves in his room plus space for current favourites at the end of his bed.

I have recently started to hide all the seasonal ones away on the recieved wisdom of mumsnet!

ValiumQueen Wed 04-Sep-13 15:58:24

Marking, and 12 pages to catch up! Wow!

Chocchip88 Wed 04-Sep-13 16:04:43

lazzaroo my mugs have arrived from Magpie, I have carefully inspected 2 of them and can't spot why they are seconds so am very happy to give them as gifts.

chirpchirp Wed 04-Sep-13 16:14:46

spotty being a true Pinterest addict I use Ikea spice racks for book shelves :-

Thank you for posting about the Ruby and Ed slippers. I have just taken delivery of a pair of string mules and they are gorgeous. I am putting them away with great reluctance but thankful that I will not be on the receiving end of DH's rather traditional taste in M&S slippers this year.

Chirp that's perfect!! Thank you thanks

ilove I'm using the samples I bought for Dh (20 mixed) along with the lego man soaps and some plastic tat kids' aprty filler bits to do an advent calendar for Dh. I'm doing one for myself (ordered 20 samples for me too) and demanded politely suggested that Dh could buy me some embroidery threads to go in mine.

shock Chirp That is fantastic.

lazzaroo Wed 04-Sep-13 16:29:20

Thanks chocchip might have to order later smile

Also love the ikea spice rack bookshelf idea!

Patilla Wed 04-Sep-13 16:45:32

We use one of these, one side for each child.

this is full price but they come up on eBay as both used and new

LoreleisSecret Wed 04-Sep-13 16:47:12

I have no idea what it is but i REALLY want a brio crab now grin

I must own one.

BuskersCat Wed 04-Sep-13 17:02:51

thanks cake

Patilla Wed 04-Sep-13 17:03:55

Oh bother that was meant to be a tidy books book box.

The crab is from amazon and is on my list for DD for Christmas but don't you all go buying them so they sell out!!!!!

I saw it in a shop today and it is hilarious.

or more likely mildly amusing but exacerbated by my recent sleep deprivation

Either way it is sod all use at storing books!

Patilla Wed 04-Sep-13 17:05:31

not a crab

I hope...

hoppingmad Wed 04-Sep-13 17:08:26

I was just in home bargains and picked up a lego set for £22.99 - currently priced at £30 on amazon
Can't link as on phone but it is number 5891

Re. magpie mugs - mine arrived today. Two are spotless and I would happily give as gifts, the other has blodges all over the squirrel in the wrong colour and I definitely wouldn't. So it's obviously a bit hit and miss. The nice ones are lovely, but the poor one is disappointing.

Oh no I hope my two are ok!

MooseyMoo Wed 04-Sep-13 17:34:14

The Spicery have 25% off their subscriptions until 15th Sept. You can now choose from 6 different options each month. I got DH the subscription and he loved it.

chirpchirp Wed 04-Sep-13 17:48:53

Damnautocorrect Wed 04-Sep-13 17:53:58

Waves to Rumours. Have you started yet? smile

Reastie Wed 04-Sep-13 18:32:22

Patilla I love the mislink. I was looking at that crab video thinking 'how does she use one side for each child?!!!!'

iloveholidays Wed 04-Sep-13 18:42:45

Damnautocorrect (love the name btw)

Lego soap]

If you search for Lego soap there are other options.

If you just search for men's samples on ebay lots come up. I bought 15 samples of aftershave for £13. They look good so hopefully mixed with some chocolate I can do an advent calendar for DP. Is it sad if I do one for myself or should I ask DP???? smile

jamtoast12 Wed 04-Sep-13 18:47:04

Anyone got any codes for toys r us? I'm seconds from ordering lego friends Olivia's house!

So chuffed although this is for dds 6th birthday at the end of the month smile

jamtoast12 Wed 04-Sep-13 19:01:54

Cross posts but thanks guys... I am so pleased with that price as they're not the biggest of toys!

Patilla Wed 04-Sep-13 19:10:26

If you wanted a lot of those Lego soaps you could make your own using the silicon Lego men mould from the Lego shop and basic soap.

But for a few it's not worth the price of the ice cube lego men tray

PoppyWearer Wed 04-Sep-13 19:17:35

I feel responsible for the Magpie mugs as I was the one who linked to them - so sorry to anyone who has not received nice ones. Not yet got mine as I missed the delivery, so don't yet know if I've been lucky or not...

I was a cheapskate a fantastic bargain hunter and bought 20 men's Avon samples from this Ebay shop for £3.49 posted.

Oreocrumbs Wed 04-Sep-13 19:42:31
Oreocrumbs Wed 04-Sep-13 19:43:07

Click on order sample, under the free sample heading, are mini images of samples, I think you can tick three. Scroll left or right to view more. Both men and women fragrances. I haven't received mine yet so not how they are packaged.

ValiumQueen Wed 04-Sep-13 19:48:15

kiwidreamer Wed 04-Sep-13 19:58:47

Did everyone pay postage for Magpie... just checking before I checkout!

hoppingmad Wed 04-Sep-13 20:08:02

Ah, hate these threads. Spent a fortune after last years thread (have name changed since) & now I have just bought Olivia's house with the code.
It's a slippery slope from here!

Hello kitty play kitchen £8.30, small but has 15 accessories with

RhondaJean Wed 04-Sep-13 20:20:57

Thanks moosey I've ordered some samples too and if they come looking half decent I will order more using other emails for DH and for dd1s stocking.

I dont feel guilty because DH likes Hugo boss aftershave and boss orange and will happily spend on it's only fair really...

lazzaroo Wed 04-Sep-13 20:21:21

No worries poppywearer, I am tempted to risk it but I know my luck! Think I'll skip them as they are for gifts. Am sure the majority will be fine.

PoppyWearer Wed 04-Sep-13 20:21:38

Yes, paid postage for Magpie.

RhondaJean Wed 04-Sep-13 20:25:01

The Lego men ice cube tray is only £3.99 though I don't know how much postage is but it looks like a good investment!

TheOnlyPink Wed 04-Sep-13 20:25:04

Thanks for all the bargains so far!

Not sure if there are any other Irish bargain hunters here, but thought I would post this Heatons Toy Sale just in case. Some really great bargains.

TheOnlyPink Wed 04-Sep-13 20:25:44

Sorry for my overuse of the word bargain! blush

poppywearer it was a good link and I knew they were seconds when I ordered! It's a good shop to know about for awkward to buy for people.

nickdrakeslovechild Wed 04-Sep-13 20:48:39

I know this is full price, but at £7.50 its the cheapest ive seen. Its a Mens lego tshirt to go with the soap! Just a good deal on a lego white house or similar and OH is done.
Lego Tshirt

Slainte Wed 04-Sep-13 20:54:36

Thanks lovechild that's half of BIL's present sorted smile

sameoldIggi Wed 04-Sep-13 21:06:00

Mooseymoo, sorry don't know much about spices - if I bought a pack now (I like the gift boxes I think more than the subscription) would they still be usable after Christmas? Do spices have a long shelf life, in other words? TIA!

BuddhaBelly Wed 04-Sep-13 21:09:40

My Charlie and the chocolate factory pop up book arrived today. Absolutely gorgeous so thanks for the tipthanks

Oreocrumbs Wed 04-Sep-13 21:30:11
Leilandri Wed 04-Sep-13 21:32:04

I've been struggling with what to put in DS1's advent calenday this year, he'll be 4.6. DS2 has finger puppets, he'll be 2.4.
Then your comments of ebay and perfume samples gave me a rather randomly related brainwave. Bundles of lego minifigures! Have managed to get a bundle of 9 mixed figures for 3.19 including postage, as he doesn't have any yet (just reached lego age!) I don't have to worry about duplicates grin

RhondaJean Wed 04-Sep-13 21:34:05

Going round looking for free samples online now...

Free Burberry Brit fragrance sample here

My magpie mugs came today and were all fine, thought about ordering one for bil (fishing bargains anyone) and d nephew(absolutely 109% no doubt about it gluten free bargains anyone). (To fit in above mug)
And no doubt the lovely weather is a good thing but I have a marvellous pair of cashmere pj 's that arrived today so could autumn turn up please.

Neeko Wed 04-Sep-13 21:38:45

Hello *Buddha• smile Hope you're well I am quite addicted to these threads!

Am I the only one who does a Cadbury chocolate advent calendar from somewhere like Asda?!

Oreocrumbs Wed 04-Sep-13 21:41:44

Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue set 18 and Accessorize nail wardrobe 5 (currently on sale for £10 on accessorize site). Free del until 10th sept on all orders from superdrug.

Leilandri Wed 04-Sep-13 21:50:45

Neeko my Dh's grandparents buy those choc advent calendars for my boys, so I open them and put the chocs into their nice wooden Xmas advent trees!! In fairness I used to manage a charity shop, and these advent trees came in 4 years before I was even ttc! I originally bought them to give to my friends' children, but I decided to keep them. So glad that I finall get to use them!! grin

lazzaroo Wed 04-Sep-13 21:53:22

If you are ordering from Superdrug, check out their 'free gifts' tab. It's not that obvious but they have quite a few free gifts. Some are related to specific purchases but others, like this toiletry bag, seem to be free with any purchase (if my tired eyes are reading it right!)....

Rumours Wed 04-Sep-13 21:54:30

neeko thanks to this thread, that I'm addicted to too, ive done.loads of shopping.

Waves to buddha smile

lazzaroo Wed 04-Sep-13 21:55:42

Ignore eyes aren't working! They are all linked to specific purchases I think.

list of places offering free samples, some work some didnt for me but worth a try

BumpKitty Wed 04-Sep-13 22:09:23

my mugs arrived today from magpie and they are both lovely - I can't see why they are seconds - and they come in really nice gift boxes. I also ordered the ABC cardboard suitcases from magpie (reduced to £10) and they are really nice too, I'm thinking of splitting them and putting crafty bits and bobs in for SIL and a couple of friends.

runningincircles Wed 04-Sep-13 22:22:19

Thanks Oreo just ordered 2 nail wardrobes. I'm nearly sorted for the kids and ladies. Just lots of gifts to get for hard to buy for men. Oh what to get?!?

Freemilk Wed 04-Sep-13 22:35:48

Not worry autumn is coming, I finally caved in today and bought the sand and water table from Tesco today after walking past it for about 3 weeks so I pdict the temp will plummet any day now!!
If someone can please tell me why, after I had specifically told my kids not to mix the sand and water they did just that and then proceeded to chuck handfuls of it at the wheelie bins making everything filthy I would be pleased
And if they can tell me what an appropriate punishment is I would also be pleased, current one is to confiscate the playmobil specials they bought with the £2 my Mother gave them for weeding her garden

It is not as if I havnt told them how to behave 1,000,000 times already.

So in Tesco I got the amazing Cinderella sparkling twinkle doll for £7 so thanks so much who posted that, there were none on the shelves so I hunted high and low and eventually found one hidden on the top shelf in another part of the shop so i reckon either a staff member or some other shopper had popped it up there for later.
Sand and water table was 3.75, sand 1.75, (fills the table several times over so that's a bargain.
Playmobil specials £2, quite a few different sorts, circus trainer, knight, boy with dune buggy type car, archer, zoo type guy
Got try Disney cakes and sweets mag for me for 99p as a little treat, found a skylanders tee for £3 Disney princess sock 5 pack for 1.50 so all in all a successful trip (except for the kids behaviour!!)

I am however very cross with myself to have missed out on the Mand S cashmere and silk pjs!!

Ordered a couple of things for the kids in the sale and they have done their usual trick of cancelling half the order!

They also still have crayola crayons and felt tips on offer in Asda and Sainsburys and had some school maths type stuff (calculators, protractors etc) for half price.

Still resisting the magpie stuff but rewlly only just, looked at it with one of the dcs earlier and he was trying to persuade me to order the whole alphabet plus a couple of extra es for good measure grin

Freemilk Wed 04-Sep-13 22:37:13

Oh does anyone have an idea what kind of search words would be good for the samples I have tried and just come up with a mass of stuff that is hard to sort through.

RhondaJean Wed 04-Sep-13 22:39:34

Omg I'm addicted to ordering free samples now...
At least the credit card isn't hurting.

I'm doing aftershaves for DH but I think I might spend tomorrow night ordering bundles of perfumes for dd1?

slp123 Wed 04-Sep-13 22:50:22

Has anyone got a free delivery code for the book people?
Thank you

ShoopShoop Wed 04-Sep-13 22:54:20

I'm on the lookout for a Nails Inc discount code or cheap Nails Inc polishes if anyone has seen any around. I make my own crackers and want a few bottles of naice polish to put in cracker for very fussy label conscious DSis and DMum hmm grin.

ShoopShoop Wed 04-Sep-13 22:56:13

Should be crackers....plural. I usually do around 3 per person to spread out over Christmas lunch and Boxing Day. [rod for own back emoticon]

PoppyWearer Wed 04-Sep-13 22:57:26

Shoop Fragrances Direct had Essie nail polish for £1.99 a few weeks ago.

Theonlyoneiknow Wed 04-Sep-13 22:59:08

THANKS might work for free delivery at the book people, it did for me recently

PoppyWearer Wed 04-Sep-13 23:00:42
BeaWheesht Wed 04-Sep-13 23:07:31

Well I've finally caved and ordered the Charlie and re chocolate factory pop up book am v excited

Just reserved an angry birds 'head warmer' aka a hat for £3.99 at argos too. Sorry can't link as phone playing up.

VoldemortsNipple Wed 04-Sep-13 23:15:29

Freemilk, I used a selection of phrases including, samples, women's samples, perfume samples, makeup samples toiletries samples. I also looked for 3ml samples (which are dearer but usually perfume in little bottles instead of vials) I also tried travel size, which gave me loads of new items including 6 Molton Brown miniatures for around £7·50 and 3 Dior eye creams for £2·50. I want to have a few bigger samples mixed in to keep it interesting.

I can't believe my little advent calendar idea has been so successful. [Smile] and I can't believe how many samples of face cream and shampoo I keep finding in the back of drawers!

joymaker Thu 05-Sep-13 00:51:14

chirp the ikea spice rack looks like an exceedingly good idea. How many books are you roughly managing to comfortably fit in each rack?
