Sixth thread shock but it’s OK we are allowed to get excited about Christmas now as it’s September

I’ve been a bit sporadic with this OP in what has been selected for adding in or not as there are too many links to add them all in, hope I haven’t forgotten anything major. Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren’t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. I haven’t checked all links to see if prices have altered since last thread so apologies if youg et very excited followed by disappointed. I will try to do better next time. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don’t work or if there’s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous grin

FriskyHenderson Tue 10-Sep-13 17:04:26

John Lewis had some Furbies for £39 - is it really worth it? Or is it the sort of thing that is only played with for a month?

fluffyinpink Tue 10-Sep-13 17:06:27

the other thread got me thinking about a decent santas grotto
It cant be too full on as dd has SN and we live in too small a place for anything decent
Anyone know of a good one in leeds city centre- we could get there on the train
Or any fantastic ones in that area?

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend Tue 10-Sep-13 17:06:37

Thanks Reastie, love the new thread title smile

I've just ordered the character pjs. Got some minion ones for my eldest dd that she will LOVE and peppa ones for my youngest, £13 for them both delivered so thanks again for that bargain!!

Oreocrumbs Tue 10-Sep-13 17:12:51

Fancy you lot running off and starting a new thread while I've been lap top less! grin

Am in need of more bargains than ever now as have had to fork out for a new one!

Reastie that is one hell of an OP! I'm bypassing thanks and sending straight over a gin.

Elainey1609 Tue 10-Sep-13 17:18:40

Another fantastic santos grotto is ruxley manor garden centre
They have ice skating as well as reindeers you can visit every year loved it
Went to Harrods a few years back will admit was fantastic
But it was just so busy and little ones didn't like it
So take them to the smaller just as good one at ruxley.

Boots in bluewater were giving out perfume samples to me when ever I was asking today
Think maybe they just to new stock or something as normally when I ask they don't have any.

Btw stellar treasures on Facebook have one really lovely personal handmade gifts and decorations
I bought some from her before and they are fantastic
Well worth a look

Reastie Tue 10-Sep-13 17:39:03

Elainey we are booked in at Ruxley already! Went there last year and was fab. Can't imagine how busy Harrods grotto is then as I found Ruxley really busy blush

issynoho Tue 10-Sep-13 17:39:22

Has anyone seen a Peppa Pig single duvet cover that's reasonably nice quality? B&M one is scratchy, stiff cotton and not sure about online ones without having a feel of them.

I want to go to Harrods grotto, but I may plan that next year (any excuse to go to London).

We have a steam railway that does Santa Specials so I think I'll take the DC there for our last visit

Does anyone know if Sainsburys will be doing their big toy sale this year?

sameoldIggi Tue 10-Sep-13 18:34:26

Just caved and looked up the Country Living offer - only to see this message -

"Due to an unprecedented response to this offer, we have

now ran out of stock and the offer has now closed"

We drove them out!

Cat it's usually the last Thursday of October half term smile

PoppyWearer Tue 10-Sep-13 18:50:03

winewinewinewinewine Cheers reastie for the new thread. (It's gin but in a Magpie mug, as I have no room for glasses in my kitchen cupboards anymore since buying mine! wink)

Lapland UK bookings opened today (Bracknell/Windsor) if you use the code "BELIEVE" but definitely not a bargain!!

Hi Frisky DS, age 5 had a Furby for Christmas last year from the grandparents. It was great fun for a while, we fed it from the iPad, we all sang along with it and then it had a weird personality change ( apparently what they do now) and so now we don't know what it will do when it starts up!! It doesn't get played with much now, but he might pick it up again at some point....... He's a bit obsessed with Disney Infinity at the mo so nothing else is getting a look in! So if you can get the Furby for a cheap price, it is a bit of fun - but can't say how long it will keep them occupied.

RockySpeed Tue 10-Sep-13 19:03:46

furby was played for so much here for the week or so after christmas then ignoring for a while but has come back a few times being the most played with. we paid 60 and i deffo dont think i would again but would of a lower amount

RockySpeed Tue 10-Sep-13 19:07:24

I live in Leeds and have yet to find a decent FC in the city center. Middleton Railway do a Santa Express steam train ride, never been on it though so can't comment really. We usually go to Stockeld Park in Weatherby for the Christmas Adventure, it's really lovely! (Sorry don't know how to do links but you'll find it through google)

BlackStiltonBoots Tue 10-Sep-13 19:09:03

Thank you all for these wonderful threads, I have been lurking and spending grin.

RhondaJean Tue 10-Sep-13 19:37:15

I loved the joules wellies offer over the weekend but as a size 7 it was never going to work out. Ah well.

fluffyinpink Tue 10-Sep-13 19:37:42

Thanks rocky, I have looked at stockeld park online, will check it out

weebarra Tue 10-Sep-13 19:44:35

Thank you for the Alfie book and the Jumperoo offer!

ProtectiveMother Tue 10-Sep-13 19:45:28

So I have been buying...

Amazon: Lego Technic Power Functions Motor set £22 (cheapest on Internet and good for letting your child fiddle around and create their own exciting battery powered vehicles on Christmas Day)

Amazon: Mog on Fox night book £1.50. My son is obsessed with foxes!

Amazon: Sesame Street ABC hard back £6. Ok not super cheap but the Cookie Monster will be in there and it's a great learning resource so worth the money for my daughter.

eBay: Great fishing rods for children for £13 or so by Boyz Toys. Also a set of two for around. £20. Also available on Amazon but eBay cheaper. My son will go crazy when he sees this on Christmas Day!

Amazon: Snoopy box set of DVDs for £5
Amazon: a Muppet Christmas Carol DVD £4.60. The best Christmas film ever let's face it!

I'm so upset I missed the bargain Stick Man. Now it's £4. Don't want to pay that! ;-)

I'm so jealous of you all who are in England with all your fab Christmas places and Grottos to visit. I am in NI and there's very few great places to go. Would love to go to London too see everything Christmassy but it's such a pain/expense getting flight, hotel etc rather than taking the car/train. envy

Stick Man book (Christmas themed) is only £1.75 again on Amazon haha! :-)

mum2jakie Tue 10-Sep-13 20:06:45

Great thread!

I know the price fluctuates all the time but the Stick Man is currently down to £1.75 on Amazon. We really don't need any more books but hey...

fluffyinpink I agree with Rocky. I've not found anywhere in the city centre with a good grotto. We love the Xmas Adventure at Stockeld Park too though we've never paid for the grotto bit - just some of the other activities. Last year you could visit Santa for free at the White Rose centre (just outside Leeds - lots of buses from the centre). It wasn't really a grotto as such, but ok for being free and they were happy for you to take your own pics rather than pay for theirs.

mum2jakie Tue 10-Sep-13 20:07:24

Cross post! Not quite quick enough!

HenriettaPye Tue 10-Sep-13 20:08:43

Hippo, I'm in N.Ireland too. Last year we went to santas wee cottage near Antrim and enjoyed it!

ProtectiveMother Tue 10-Sep-13 20:08:50

P.S Hippo there are lots of Christmas things to do in NI. There are pantos and the Christmas market in Belfast City Centre almost all of December and lots of beautiful Santas grottos in the gorgeous N.I countryside. My ex DH is from there and we have spent many happy December days there in the past.

BeaWheesht Tue 10-Sep-13 20:17:57

Father Christmas Needs a Wee from the book people £4.99 plus I had a 10% off code - hardback with a free finger puppet, looks fab
3 hand puppets from ebay for £1.39 each in OP, which look good for a stocking filler
Christmas finger puppets on ebay again look good for lead up
Stick Man again fab!!!

We have far too many books, DP and I have decided to give DD1 the classic collection books at the end of this week for finishing her first week at school smile think we'll get more of a reaction without all the toy presents around!!! Plus, I've bought far too many books!!!!!!

Reastie Tue 10-Sep-13 20:42:23

Good grief are you all secretly my neighbours?! First elainey and now raisah . Raisah we've been there too! (not to FC though). I heard mixed reports about it there last year hmm

Iloveholidays FC needs a wee is one of DDs faves!

Julezboo Tue 10-Sep-13 20:42:54

minecraft Lego 35.99 on Lego store online. bought it for ds1 last year. still played with and not mixed with big box of Lego so far! everywhere else was £70+!

oh I got two different mine craft posters asda 2 for £7 (eldest two are mine craft obsessed)

WithConfidence Tue 10-Sep-13 20:48:14

Anyone found out what that Hope Ed statement for -13 quid was about. I'm really busy this week so won't be able to phone but I will be raging if it is store credit as I don't want anything from them.

And I never recieved any free Elemis. I am having a sad and angry bargain time atm...

chicaguapa Tue 10-Sep-13 20:51:57

Does anyone know if the 25% off at the Spicery works on the gift subscriptions or just on the subscriptions themselves?

iloveholidays Tue 10-Sep-13 20:54:15
toisa Tue 10-Sep-13 21:00:45

hippo have you been to St George's Market in Belfast at Christmas time? A more atmospheric market you cannot find... Find it on facebook for a wee taster of what is there. Constant stream of live music too.

RhondaJean Tue 10-Sep-13 21:00:51

Elemis update...

Well one rather bashed box of elemis arrived by courier yesterday. Im not worried its bashed as I've got the body balm stuff and will make up a little set anyway.

I then compared the labels on the mysterious two week fat loss book which turned up and they are identical except fro a different long number across the top.

So I think they have sent me one elemis gift and one fat loss book from the other subscription. Ah well. Probably need the fat loss more than Thr bath milk anyway. Sigh.

toisa Tue 10-Sep-13 21:01:34

hippoherostandinghere Tue 10-Sep-13 21:14:40

Toisa, I've been to the markets at the city hall and enjoyed that, is St George's park a separate market? I should know this really shock

Henrietta I must check out that village in Antrim, there's one in the Mournes too that's meant to be good.

I would just love to jump on a train though and take the DCs to Harrods grin

Julezboo Tue 10-Sep-13 21:32:22

I found many bargains yesterday whilst writing my boys Christmas list (x3) will be back with links tomorrow when I'm on laptop smile

GeekInThePink Tue 10-Sep-13 21:38:09

Marking place, I missed the Alfie book- just popped in my basket and didn't check out. Fool!

kiwidreamer Tue 10-Sep-13 21:44:26

Was all set to check out with Character Shop but £4.95 postage is too steep, hate paying postage anyhoo but nearly a fiver to send pj's is harsh.

HaplessHousewife Tue 10-Sep-13 21:49:57

Been lurking so far but waves to Reastie, elainey and raisah. I live near Ruxley and Coolings too.

Just checked Ruxley's website and all the slots for the school holidays and weekends have gone already so I guess I'll be looking elsewhere!

Rubybrazilianwax Tue 10-Sep-13 21:51:07

Hippo St Georges is in the old market building, on every weekend but as Toisa says, lovely at Christmas. Just across from the Waterfront. We have been to most Santas in N Ireland over the years! The one up in the Mournes is very special, beautiful setting but pricey. Another one we loved was at the Navan centre in Armagh. They do crafts with the dc then you visit Santa in their ancient thatched round house, the ceiling is covered in lights and its fabulous. Armagh's Georgian day at the start of December is lovely, trad characters etc. The Argory manor house is also very atmospheric, think Downton Abbey at Christmas.

ProtectiveMother Tue 10-Sep-13 21:52:37

If anyone sees any slipper socks bargains or ways to buy treacle toffee lol, I would be interested. Also good cheap card-making materials and posh but cheap nail polish sets, would be great! :-) Oh! And Christmas hamper ideas would be fab too! Never made one before and there were great ideas on previous thread. :-)

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Tue 10-Sep-13 21:54:43

Thanks for the Skylanders Pyjamas link.

Just bought the Mog book on Amazon, and also got The Pirate Cruncher and Say Hello to the Dinosaurs for £1.75 each - one for nephew, one for friend's little boy.

gingerpinz Tue 10-Sep-13 21:59:41

chicaguapa I've just ordered a 3 month spicery subscription for my BIL's birthday at the end of this month you just put in the different delivery details and there is an option to add a message and/or state who the gift subscription is from. HTH!

LaTrucha Tue 10-Sep-13 22:01:04

The Alfie book is the World Book Day version. DD loves Alfie, though, so she won't care.

RhondaJean Tue 10-Sep-13 22:04:43

Protective, home bargains had totes slipper socks really cheaply recently. I got dd1 a pair and they were less than £2 instead of £7/8.

VoldemortsNipple Tue 10-Sep-13 22:08:30

My Lego soaps arrived today looking good enough to eat.

Protectivemother, I picked up some lovely crocheted Totes slipper socks, boxed, in Home Bargains on Saturday for £2. I'm not sure if they are online though.

lilylaville Tue 10-Sep-13 22:08:32

Marking place. Think I now have all dds Christmas presents, now for her birthday. Keep em coming!! Thank you.

chicaguapa Yes, it works on either the subscription or the subscription voucher.

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Wed 11-Sep-13 00:03:06

The 6th thread?! We'll soon have enough to make our own bargain-thread advent calender. grin

Does anyone know if the Playmobil Grande mansion 5302 is likely to go any lower than £93 before Christmas?

I've already bought all the sets to go with it throughout the year when they were on offer, but I'm growing impatient waiting for the mansion itself to drop its price. Amazon had it for £87 a few weeks back and I thought I'd hold off in case it went down any further, but it went the opposite way.

Apparently the Entertainer had it for £50 last year (according to Tesco direct), but it's no longer available. I'm following it on CamelCamel.

Freemilk Wed 11-Sep-13 00:12:19

Just a reminder that the Christmas finger puppets can be got slightly cheaper if you search for others.

Had a book people delivery today, got 15% off too which was lovely thanks for that code, all the books were great but one of them was wrong so I will email and see what they say.

Still waiting for my WHsmith order too here, it was coming to the store and is now coming up to the end of the 10 or 14 days they quoted so I hope it gets here in the next day or two.

Another request for any Corolle dolls on offer please, want the ballerina and it is coming up as expensive everywhere.

curiousgeorgie Wed 11-Sep-13 00:19:37

Just marking my place...

I hated Harrods Santa, nothing special, massive queues and far too busy.

I love Chessington Garden Centre Santa, am going there and to Longleat with my DD's this year grin

BuffyFairy Wed 11-Sep-13 00:43:15

Marking place, great OP as ever Reastie thanks

Will check out the Spicery subscriptions, thanks Moosey for that code.

TK Maxx had Nails Inc sets of 4 in nice colours for £12.99.

HaplessHousewife Wed 11-Sep-13 07:45:44

Not sure, on the website the times only went to 14.45 or 13.30 –it was different everyday so I guess they're booked.

CrazyTink Wed 11-Sep-13 07:47:04

Avid lurker here! Thanks to those who post, managed to grab designafriend doll for daughters birthday, Alfie book, horrid Henry book. Keep missing stick man.
Got a bargain last night from asda a pink cupcake maker for £3 reduced from £9.99, not a gift for anyone just me but might help someone x

LaTrucha Wed 11-Sep-13 07:47:50

Has anyone seen Octonauts shipwreck? Dh is going away for two weeks and has promised it to DS as a present when he gets back. I just missed it at £12.50 in the Boots sale. Damn! DH should know to consult over toy bargains by now!

Groupon Now TV 6 months subscription £14.99. I don't really understand how these things work, but it has sold over 7000 units which makes it a very popular item on groupon .

Might be a good gift for some of these teens/adults people are struggling for.

BlackStiltonBoots Wed 11-Sep-13 08:16:29

Kiwidreamer I didn't realise postage was so expensive, I got free delivery as I spent quite a bit over £25. Glad the link was useful for others though.

DD1 would like the Vtech secret safe diary visual here if anyone sees it cheap anywhere I'd be really grateful. It went down to £32 on amazon but I held off and it has gone back up now!

SunnyIntervals Wed 11-Sep-13 08:18:20

Fantastic offers!!

Thank you Reastie and all posters for signposting bargains!

I have bought the occitaine stuff, the £1.95 spy book from Amazon and the reduced Yankee candles.

For any older rellies, there are reduced pot pourri sets on eBay if you search for Greenleaf pot pourri - just bought some for mil!

DownstairsMixUp Wed 11-Sep-13 08:42:27
LaTrucha Wed 11-Sep-13 09:00:06

Blackstilton - I'm on the lookout for that too. It's new, so I don't think it's going to go down too much more. I think I have it on camel camel, so I'll let you know.

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Wed 11-Sep-13 09:16:52

BlackStilton I managed to get that for dd for £32 from Very 2 weeks ago in their sale, i think it might have gone back up to £40 though, but worth keeping an eye on.

I don't see the price going too low before Christmas because it's such a new product. It will be in the next Argos 3for2 on all toys promotion (October-November) so might be cheaper getting it that way? Although i think Argos have it for near £40 too.

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 09:18:12

happyland funfair set half price down to £30 at mothercare. is there still a code to get more off??

BlackStiltonBoots Wed 11-Sep-13 09:57:25

Thanks LaTrucha and Ewe I hope I can get it with a bit of a discount, just so I can have a little more to spend on DD1's other presents.

Hopping there are 2 kinds, the cheaper one has a black and white screen I think and the more expensive one is colour and has a camera.

Update- I just saw an email from debenhams, 20% off Vtech toys, they had the diary for £32 but it has sold out!

hoppingmad Wed 11-Sep-13 10:01:47

Oh hmm. I can be pretty sure which one dd would be hoping for then!

Elainey1609 Wed 11-Sep-13 10:02:50

I still need to do my parents, step parents, two older sister, younger brother and sister, fil and one bil shock

LaTrucha Wed 11-Sep-13 10:16:26

I have to do adults too, but I'm going to wait a bit.

MissElodie Wed 11-Sep-13 10:17:17

Thanks reastie for the thread and everyone posting the bargains!

There are some nice Heathcote and Ivory gifts in the sale.

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 10:19:52

I bought a Hugless Douglas book as a result of this thread (I think) as a birthday present, but ended up taking it on holiday for DD. I want to buy a replacement for the birthday pressie - but can't remember where I bought it from. I've had a look on Amazon and The Works and searched the last couple of threads, but can't find it. Can anyone remember where it was from??

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 10:23:15

I've still got the adults to go although tend to ask for ideas.

In fact still have loads to go apart from my DDs grin

Julezboo Wed 11-Sep-13 10:30:21
zipzap Wed 11-Sep-13 10:33:01

There are 'personal health' gadgets on offer on play.com today as their deal of the day - things like pedometers for a fiver, heart rate/calorie counting watch for £7, blood pressure watch, Electric tooth brushes, manicure sets, razors and epilators etc. some big names like braun and Phillips. No idea how prices compare to amazon sorry.

But might make useful presents for difficult males (or women for that matter), especially if they are into being healthy or maybe need a push in the healthy direction.

Mipe Wed 11-Sep-13 10:34:52

Just got Lego Friends - Poodle's Little Palace, Bunny's Hutch and Hedgehog's Hideaway from Morrisons at £1.35 each (£5.19 on Amazon) smile

zipzap Wed 11-Sep-13 10:35:09

Oh and for the person looking for Melissa and Douglas jigsaws - tk maxx often has lots of Melissa and Douglas stuff in at very good prices.

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 10:36:50

Oh, I think I bought the Hugless Douglas books from The Book People with free delivery. The THANKS code isn't working for free delivery now - anyone got another free delivery code for them? I can't justify spending more money on books to get free delivery...

insanityscratching Wed 11-Sep-13 10:45:58

Home Bargains have Zhu Zhu puppies in very cheap as do B&M near us anyway. They also have this set down from £19.99 to £3.99.

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 10:48:33

snowgirl have you tried CHEERS

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 10:52:30

is anyone still finding deals in tesco? not sure whether to do another visit to a different store?

Mipe Wed 11-Sep-13 11:05:08

Got some of these for birthday presents and everyone loves them so just ordered some more for Christmas presents - box of 6 chocolate loveheart candles for £1.99.

They have some nice little candle holders for £1.99 as well:

How, HOW can you be on page 7 already?!?!

I will have to catch up on the 163 posts I have missed, but in the meantime I wanted to offer thanks to Reastie and the rest of you lovely lot for the Tesco Squinkies bundle (I got the carriage btw, and have used some of the smaller bits to pad out birthday presents); the Charlie pop up book and the Vertbaudet codes which I've used to buy one dressing gown for £6 delivered and another for £10 delivered (including a colouring set but probably another bloody sports bag )

A few more books managed to 'fall' into my basket on the bargain booktime website, including:

This lovely Christmas pop up book for 5 by the brilliant and very collectible Robert Sabuda. For some reason it has not been listed as a pop up, and can been seen better here

This boxed collection of stunningly illustrated fairytales for older children for 7, again, the Bargain Booktime website does it no justice at all. It is also sold by The Works for the higher price of £10, but with the 20% discount codes and free delivery that come up now and again, might be a cheaper choice if you are not planning on ordering any other books. The photos are also much better on The Works website and you can see the presentation box. I have been salivating over 3 of the books from this collection for ages, take a look at the individual book reviews on Amazon for a better idea or google them for photos of some of the beautiful illustrations (Beauty and the Beast for example).

A few cheap Amazon books, for those of you who need a book to get free delivery or just can't resist buying books like me :

Mog on Fox Night for 1.50 inc del. Can't have too many Mog books.

The Pirate Cruncher for 1.75 inc del. Can't vouch for this one, but the reviews are very good.

Other stocking/hamper fillers:

Toothbrush and egg timers for 1.99 inc del

The Flight Before Christmas DVD for 1.99 inc del. We haven't watched our copy as I'm saving it for our hamper, but it has excellent reviews on Amazon.

Apologies if I have listed something already mentioned, but I haven't yet caught up on this thread.

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 11:07:14

can I ask what age people would say the Charlie and the chocolate factory book is aimed at?

would it suit a 6 year old birthday?

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 11:11:29

Never thanks for the flight before Christmas link, had been thinking about getting that and the £1.99 price tag has convinced me grin

Mipe Wed 11-Sep-13 11:25:00

Geek thank you for that diary link, just ordered one for my mil! smile

dingit Wed 11-Sep-13 11:25:36

Yesterday I got Cuponk game in The Works for £2.99. It was marked as £3.99. It's over £5 on Amazon.

HarderToKidnap Wed 11-Sep-13 11:36:48

Bentalls clearance shop in the bentalls centre in kingston had some great bits yesterday. Sylvanian log cabin £22, Disney Cars scalextric really reduced, nice glassware, homeware etc all significantly cheaper than amazon. Got some transformers bash bots for a tenner, Cars puzzle for a couple of quid. Very happy!

I was the same ilove, it had been sitting on my Amazon wish list for a while before I found it on eBay.

I've bought 2 copies of pop up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; one for my own nearly-5 year old DS and one his friend's 5th birthday party. I am hoping to keep my DS's copy until Christmas, but expect I will cave and give it to him as a 'starting Reception' present if it arrives before he goes full time next week.

Thanks I bought that DVD. Never heard of it but will be watching it Christmas Eve now smile

joymaker Wed 11-Sep-13 11:55:45

NeverQuiteSure I went on the bargain booktime website a few days ago too after a poster said postage was cheaper from the site itself (£2) when ordering the charlie a and the chocolate factory. I ended up buying a shed load more books incuding the The Christmas Alphabet: 10th Anniversary Edition that you pointed out -I should be receiving mine any day now so will report back if it isn't as wonderful as it looks smile

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 11:59:48

iloveholidays thank you, that code worked for free delivery! thanks

Balance bikes half price in toys r us- from 49.99 to 24.99! Blue or pink

I haven't read the whole thread but another one near Coolings, Ruxley and polhill. <waves to neighbours and wonders if you're any of my school mum friends>

John Lewis have a sale today price matching a competitors. I was quite excited as it said it had stationery as I'm thinking of buying some naice notepads for mother in law and aunt but it just has lots of Filofax and pens so not really what I'm looking for.

joymaker Wed 11-Sep-13 12:15:13

Can someone give me feedback on the Argos deisgnabear monster. I've reserved one for pick up today, does it live up to the good reviews?

VeeAndTea Wed 11-Sep-13 12:22:20

saving my spot to peruse after library duty!

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 12:25:31

JohnyDeppsfuturewife if Sanderson is your MIL/Aunt's style then it might be worth having a look at [http://www.clintoncards.co.uk/clearance?filter_character_range=Sanderson Clinton's clearance] as they have some stuff at 50% off (but Sanderson stuff is ridiculously overpriced to start with, so you might not see it as a bargain). They also have some Caroline Gardner, Emma Bridgewater and Orla Kiely stuff - all 50% off.

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 12:27:34

Am de-lurking to post about the v-tech diary thingy. The one that BlackStilton linked to is available on the Costco website for £24.99 including delivery. I think the price increases by 5% if you're a non-member.

I got DD at silver one (V-Tech Princess Diary maybe) for £19 at Costco at the weekend though so it does appear that there may be different versions.

thanks for these threads - they're fab! DH is being driven mad though grin

JustBecauseICan Wed 11-Sep-13 12:48:48

Signing in ]grin]

How the feckity have you filled 8 pages when I've only been gone for 24 hours!

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 12:52:12

John Lewis [[http://www.johnlewis.com/special-offers/toys-special-offers/c600001851#!/special-offers/toys-special-offers/squinkies=brand/c600001851 ]] have a 16 pack of Squinkies reduced from £9.95 to £4.98 - not sure if that's a bargain compared to the other posts about Squinkies as I haven't paid too much attention as DD is too young for them, but thought I'd mention it. There's also some Sylvanian families stuff in their special offers.

kiwidreamer Wed 11-Sep-13 12:52:37

Oh good lord, I think I've just received a free Vertbaudet gift to rival the sports bag... its a three piece cat storage unit, three separate vinyl-ish boxes that Velcro together, mucky greeny yellow and tealy blue colour, massive teal cats heat on one end, fish skeleton in the middle and what I assume are cat legs/feet attached to first and third boxes but the legs/feet are stitched so it kinda looks like cat is swimming kindofbutnotreally. If you stand the three boxes up on end the legs are pointing in the right direction but the cat head then is not.

I will not be keeping it nor giving it away, they can pay for the postage to have the god awful thing back.

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 12:52:53
Julezboo Wed 11-Sep-13 12:55:25

Fisher-Price Wheelies Loops 'n' Swoops Amusement Park

Jojay Wed 11-Sep-13 13:04:02

Thank you Neverquitesure, I've just bought 'The Flight before Xmas' too. Perfect for Xmas Eve viewing.

Chocolateteabag Wed 11-Sep-13 13:10:30

Just had an email from H&M cancelling my order for the 98p body sprays as total after discounts is below their £6 minimum spend.
Winder why it took them 2 days to realise - surely they have a setting in their checkout process (or have they realised there was an email link on hot deals....)

No sign of my Elemis bath milk - hoping it's because I ordered after everyone else....
Debenhams wrapping paper has arrived though- vv nice

Tesco in Winchester have lots of Moshi Monster stuff in their clearance section at he moment. DS is a bit young for it so I didn't take great note of the prices but I did think 'I must tell mumsnet!' I've clearly been hanging about here too long grin

ProtectiveMother Wed 11-Sep-13 13:24:14

What size dressing gown should I order in Vertbaudet for a girl who is average 4-5 year size (she's actually 3) Maybe size 8 years if I want it to be a bit big?

MooseyMoo Wed 11-Sep-13 13:34:22

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 13:40:04

Damnautocorrect Wed 11-Sep-13 13:41:42

Not a bargain but lovely all the same. Bakerross stocking fillers, they have lots but live these

kiwidreamer Wed 11-Sep-13 13:42:48

I was in Boots (The Oracle, Reading) this morning got a few bits 50% off and 342 but no massive bargains. There were a couple of Sylvanian Families 50% off £6 / £8, Dr Who sonic screwdriver 3 piece set £10 from £20 and a Lego Chima set £6.50 from £13 and some Mecano sets 50% off... DS has no idea about Dr Who but a magic screwdriver that can unlock the world is right up his alley, need a way to show him the power of the screwdriver without the nightmares that actually watching the show would entail!!!

Wow, marking my place till I get home from work.

Hope are sending me out another 5 microphones as a gesture of goodwill!

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin Wed 11-Sep-13 14:08:18

A gesture of goodwill?!

How can it be a gesture of goodwill if all they're doing is giving you what you ordered in the first place?

Call a spade a spade, Hope. It's a gesture of 'fixing yet another of your grand cock-ups'.

OnlyGirlinmyHouse Wed 11-Sep-13 14:17:37

Joymaker - I've just collected 2 designabear monsters & I'm really pleased with them. they come in a nice box with a passport & birth certificate (think u complete this) and they look good quality. I got 2 monsters & 2 outfits for £14.46. Think my 2 ds's will be pleased with them.

I know, if they just got things right the first time around!!

chirpchirp Wed 11-Sep-13 14:41:17

Oh that reminds me. Saw the Magpie mugs on sale in debenhams yesterday for £2.70. Sadly they didn't have any of the initials I would have bought.

GeekInThePink Wed 11-Sep-13 15:26:55

No problem mipe

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 15:39:36

Chirpchirp what department were the Magpie mugs? Someone else posted they'd seen Magpie mugs in Debenhams on sale and I had a look in my local one but couldn't see any.

SunnyIntervals Wed 11-Sep-13 15:49:34

I've tried to find them in debenhams online - I really want the letter p. no luck so far!

Theonlyoneiknow Wed 11-Sep-13 15:55:49

My mugs arrived great but the other things I ordered ie notecards were made from disappointingly flimsy card that makes them feel cheap. Maybe explains the 70% off!

chirpchirp Wed 11-Sep-13 15:56:09

They were beside the reduced bedding and towels, snow.

Just back from our local (small) Tesco and in beside the reduced food there were packs of 12 miniature green & blacks £5.50 down to £2. Their use by isn't until feb 14 so grabbed them all a few for stocking fillers and a few for my oh shit I forgot your birthday emergency draw.

Snowgirl1 Wed 11-Sep-13 15:56:32

Mothercare have some sound-effect microphones reduced from £5 to £2.50 - might be a good stocking filler? They also had other migraine-inducing keyboards, electric bongo drums and guitars reduced - I think by 50%

Theonlyoneiknow Wed 11-Sep-13 15:56:39

Although to be fair I am using them for making door plaques for the DCs bedrooms!

CrazyTink Wed 11-Sep-13 15:57:17

Just saw on Hukd, little mermaid DVD £8 at amazon, was waiting for the next disney bogof to see if it was included but grabbed it at that price instead

iloveholidays Wed 11-Sep-13 17:51:45

what have people been buying to get free delivery for little mermaid?

Great minds, eh, joymaker grin It's a Robert Sabuda book, so should be brilliant. I was very tempted by this Christmas pop up book for 3 too (better photos on the author's website here ) but we already have something very similar.

For those of you with Minecraft obsessed children, I found a cheaper alternative to those £20+ plush creeper toys:

11" Plush Creeper for around 7 inc del
Smaller Plush Creeper for around 5 inc del

They don't make noises like the expensive ones, and the smaller ones look like they might arrive a little twisted out of shape, but I have taken a chance and ordered one of the 11" ones.

Haven't had chance to catch up on thread, so sorry if already posted, but amazon have Rainbow Aquadoodle down to £10 here from £24.99. Camel says it is a best price. bloody would be when I have no money til Tuesday

HenriettaPye Wed 11-Sep-13 20:04:59

Hmm having a dilemma and wondering what my fellow bargain hunters would do...
DS wants blu blu the dolphin from argos for Christmas. Looks crap- it's something like a fur real friend. And it's fifty bloody pound! However it's the only thing he repeatedly asks for. I wanted to get DD the Disney fisher price little people castle for Christmas, which is around £60 so I was going to wait until argos do the 3 for 2 on all toys and get the stupid dolphin, and the castle then get something else around £50 free.

However the castle is now reduced to £39. Should I buy it now? Argos may not even do the 3 for 2 again! But it's the only way I could justify paying £50 for a battery operated dolphin!

bymoonlight Wed 11-Sep-13 20:08:39

Could you get the castle and then pick up another 2 items in Argos (if they do the 3 for 2) to justify the dolphin?

HenriettaPye Wed 11-Sep-13 20:24:44

That's what I was thinking but there's nothing else around that value I would get- the castle will be DDs 'main' present (she's only 1) and DS's is getting the big castle of doom thing from ELC.

I think I will just get the castle now. Hopefully by the time December comes DS will have decided baby dolphins are no longer cool and Santa won't have to bring it anymore! wink

Oreocrumbs Wed 11-Sep-13 20:28:03

I would wait Henrietta. They are more than likely to do a 3 for 2 on the toys.

This is the amazon price history for the castle - it drops to around £40 every couple of months.

Amazon usually drops it's prices on products when a major retailer puts something on promotion, so if you keep an eye on amazon, you will have a good chance of seeing it around the £40 mark again before Christmas even if Argos don't do the 3 for 2.

Snowgirl if your debenhams is like the one here, there is a section somewhere with all the 50-70% off homewares, ours has all the display furniture, etc, too. In this store, its near where you actually order furniture.

Slainte Wed 11-Sep-13 21:08:33

Thanks for the new thread Reastie.

Thanks leilandri missed out on the aquadoodle when it dropped previously buying like the rainbow one better so winwin! grin

JustBecauseICan Wed 11-Sep-13 22:48:48

Entertainer online has squillions of London 2012 stuff at rockbottom prices still. 24 keyrings and what-have-you for a couple of quid. Plush toys at £1.

Dd is still obsessed with the Olympics so some good stocking fillers there.

There is a 5% extra code knocking about as well. On voucherbox I think. Scouting round for a greedy extra % one at the mo.

HenriettaPye Wed 11-Sep-13 22:51:07

Oh Iheart, I only thought it was argos was that price, didn't know about amazon, thanks!

And that's fab news about the schleich being 3 for 2 in smyths- thanks joymaker. There's a few he spied the other day so should be able to get three for around £10 then! smile

Looking at some type of 'kiddie tablet' for DS1, maybe an Innotab 2? Anyone have any suggestions or seen any deals?

And a good quality, thick jumper/zip-up cardigan for DP? Got a really nice one from the ebay superdry outlet last year but it hasnt washed/worn that well really, looks a bit knackered now and for £50+ I'd want it to last more than 9 months!

And not strictly an xmas one but a bit difficult so hoping you can help - 30th birthday present for a good family friend (DSs Godfather too)

planning on buying Charlie and chocolate factory book from bargain books today (when I get round to turning my laptop on)

I've got a bit lost with all the other links to that website. Is there any other books worth buying?

TeaAndCakeOrDeath Thu 12-Sep-13 09:08:17

attheend I love that! Going to get that for him from the kids... Not sure how happy his girlfriend is going to be when he's playing batman with that light while she's trying to sleep though!

Oreo Those prints are a really good idea, they've just moved too so they'll have space to put something like that up, might look for a 1983 one, whatever film was out that year

TeaAndCakeOrDeath Thu 12-Sep-13 09:12:00

Snowgirl Oooh, I like those! Its between these 2 I think -

option 1

option 2

TeaAndCakeOrDeath Thu 12-Sep-13 09:13:25

Oh, just realised i cant get either of those, they only have XXL left and DP is a S/M!

Tea there's loads of other nice ones in clearance and you can search by size. Perfect for my dad smile

Snowgirl1 Thu 12-Sep-13 09:20:31

Tea that's annoying! You can 'Refine by' size (top left) so that it only shows you what's left in the size you want.

chimchar Thu 12-Sep-13 09:40:37

Good going Santa's helpers! wink

Tea, have a look at fat face. Not reduced but nice men's jumpers all the same

Snowgirl1 Thu 12-Sep-13 10:01:54

I was in Aldi this morning and they had breadmaker for £34.99 - not on sale, and not a brand I'd heard of, but I can't see any on Amazon for that price.

Try Woolovers Teaandcake. Lots of chunky warm 100% wool knits, nearly all under £50. Quality is fab.

This for example - I have it (for myself) and it is not especially thick but it is very warm and I love it!

Rugbylovingmum Thu 12-Sep-13 10:15:01

Hi all,

I've bagged some great bargains on this thread and discoevered camelcamelcamel which is really useful. I wondered if anyone knew any good sites to watch out for bargains on skincare, particularly Clarins stuff. My SIL loves it so I thought I'd watch out for any good discounts pre-xmas. Other than Boots, Superdrug and Debenhams which sites should I watch??

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 10:20:28

Melissa and Doug cookie set down to £10.

Bought it for my 3yo dd2.

On CamelCamelCamel the lowest price is £9 so I thought this was a good price.

Can I ask for a couple of opinions on "Plaque-gate"? sad

26th July discussed, confirmed and paid for custom plaque (they had an offer on at the time)
11th Aug chased as nothing received yet and we were going away, told it would be posted on 15th Aug
19th Aug receive dispatched email
29th Aug I chased it up as nothing received, seller said she was away and would double check when she got back
3rd Sept chased again as not heard back and she'd been posting on fb
4th Sept emailed again, no reply, so I also sent a fb message, got a reply saying her email isn't working. She offered to refund or redo plaque. I asked her if she could redo it. She said she's do it on the 5th and post on 6th.
8th Sept I fb messaged her as she'd not confirmed it was dispatched on 6th, no reply.
10th Sept she posts on fb saying her computer isn't working and that loads of parcels are going out that evening. Still no reply to my message so I comment on her post asking if my parcel is one of the ones going out that evening and she says it is.

It has arrived today and it's broken sadangry. There are a number of hearts under the main plaque (It's for my parents for Xmas from the dc and it has each of their dgc's names on a heart). The hearts are strung together and then the end ones are glued to the main plaque and it looks like they've just come off where it was glued. I could just get some wood glue and glue it back on, though I know that really I should say something. It's just I feel like she's already redone it once cos it got lost in the post. Tbh I'm fed up of dealing with it. I'm just wondering if it's worth the hassle of complaining about it?

BuskersCat Thu 12-Sep-13 10:34:51

You know what, I hate you all for making my buy so much stuff grin

Snowgirl1 Thu 12-Sep-13 10:35:17

bymoonlight thank you - I've just bought the cookie set. So I've got that, cutting fruit/veg from Vertbaudet (freebie) and a Melissa & Doug felt sandwich set (Debenhams sale). Now I just need to find a kitchen I like for DD's main pressie.

FairyJen Thu 12-Sep-13 10:49:21

Dd ( age 6 ) wants a toy pushchair. Bit worried tho as she is tall for her age. Anyone spotted any bargains which would be suitable??

Mama1980 Thu 12-Sep-13 11:00:21

I can't link from the iPad but the book people are having a flash sale until midnight tonight.
Paul Hollywood bread book £5 superman stickerbooks 2.50£ for 2

Crafty that's rubbish. Tell her you want your money back and you're not sending it back and send photos.

I need a knife block for my parents (that's what they've asked for) so if anyone sees a bargain...

enderwoman Thu 12-Sep-13 11:01:42

Just been in Poundland and they had MoshiMonster and One Direction Mini Top Trumps for you guessed it- one pound. Great stocking filler.

Snow last year I got dd a lovely kitchen like this in pink for £25 not too far before Christmas. I would keep an eye on it. It's a really lovely kitchen

chirpchirp Thu 12-Sep-13 11:08:41

tea how about these minamalist batman prints. Just bought them from my friend and they're really good quality. The same seller does some beautiful Star Wars prints too.

Rubybrazilianwax Thu 12-Sep-13 11:08:53

Snowgirl have you a budget in mind for the kitchen? I bought this a few years ago and it has been an excellent buy. It varys in price on different sites though

Snowgirl1 Thu 12-Sep-13 11:22:52

Spotty - that kitchen would be perfect, I think someone (probably you?) mentioned that it had come down in price in previous years, so I've been keeping an eye out when I remember.

Ruby that kitchen looks really nice but it's a bit bigger than I was thinking of, but I think I'll keep it on the list of options. Thanks!

ProtectiveMother Thu 12-Sep-13 12:33:53

Hi all. Got lovely kids mugs in painterly sheep and cow design and moshi monsters bubble blowers in my local pound shop so really pleased about this bargain!

I need an alarm clock for my son. It should be sturdy and good quality with ideally 'minutes' and 'hours' written on hands and help with 'quarter past' etc. ideally will be blue, red, yellow or green and not character themed probably. Anybody seen any?

NewShoesTwoShoes Thu 12-Sep-13 12:34:05

Thanks to everyone for bargain ideas - got some Tesco fancy dress last month and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pop up book - still in the wrapper but is huge and looks fab!

iloveholidays I ordered from Bargain Booktime's own website and bought a few a lot more items to make the most of the cheap postage. Can't link as on my phone, but good buys were:
Charlie and Lola Snow is my Favourite - Book + CD £1.99 (going to bring this out with our box of Xmas books on Dec 1)
Ollie I Love Christmas £1.99
Various Dot-to-Dot books for £0.99 (Space, Pirates) - these have a storyline and pictures to complete as you go.
Magic Bookshop Bears £0.99 - Small box (10cm?) with tiny toy bear and matching storybook. I got Merlin and Cinderella as stocking fillers.

JustBecauseICan Thu 12-Sep-13 12:52:33

rubylovingmum try salon skincare, feel unique, cheap smells, fragrance direct etc for Clarins. A couple of years ago I got my Mum some Clarins serum for about £30 that should have been about £70. It was IIRC the original version of the new double serum.

Sites like the above won't have whole ranges, and you might have unboxed stuff, but especially gift set things tend to be well discounted and there are usually codes around as well. I've used all of the above with no probs.

I have added the bat signal thingy to my Amazon wishlist which is starting to look like the Amazon inventory

Just got Book People flash sale email through but not been and had a look yet.

SarahAndFuck Thu 12-Sep-13 12:59:06

Home Bargains have mugs similar to these in store for 99p. They don't have the scrabble score on them but the big black letter is almost the same (think the font is Times New Roman). Label on them says 'alphabetmugs.com' and a price of £6.00 but the company doesn't seem to have a website yet.

I've bought seven of them for various family members and Home Bargains also have packets of three chocolates, Ferrero Rocher and Raffaello (white ones) for 49p so I bought a packet of each flavour to put in each mug for the older family members and tubes of The Jelly Bean Factory jelly beans (99p) and packs of Love Hearts (4 pack for 49p) to put in the mugs for the younger ones.

So for between £2.00 - £2.50 each I've got seven presents that actually look very good.

joymaker Thu 12-Sep-13 13:20:34

ilove I would really recommend that you look through the books on that site as there are some great buys and postage is a bit cheaper.

I bought 2 christmas books NotQuiteSure provides great links (where you can see what the books are like inside) for two books in her posts on p.7 and p.10 of this thread. I also bought some sticker books one of which was Charlie and Lola -£1 a Big Barn Farm one- £1 and a BBF Magnetic book £1.99 two books about monsters which I know my DS will love and get great reviews on Amazon £1.99 each the Charlie &CF pop up and 2 other books that I cant remember off- hand.

beadyboo Thu 12-Sep-13 13:28:35

FairyJen I got my 6yo DD a pram / pushchair the other week as it was recommended on an earlier thread. Can't link on phone, but it's the mamas and papas urbo from amazon. I paid £34.99, and it's showing as £33.15 today. She's tall for her age, and she loves it.

joymaker Thu 12-Sep-13 13:30:11

I bought some of those mugs a while back SarahAnd and I agree they are really nice (fine bone china as it states on the bottom of each) that's the only thing that stopped me buying the Magpie ones smile

Home Bargains had Moshi 10 pens in 1 pen iyswim with a purple moshi on top for £1.99.

FairyJen Thu 12-Sep-13 13:41:08

thanks for the feedback on the bargain books website, trying not to get too many more books as already bought too many!!! grin at the same time as I'm ordering the Charlie chocolate factory book I didn't want to waste postage costs. will look at the Christmas ones as we tend to get a few new festive books and dvds each year.

Snowgirl1 Thu 12-Sep-13 14:15:59

Chirpchirp and Breakout, thanks, went back into Debenhams at lunchtime and managed to find the reduced homewares section (just a couple of shelves) and found one of the Magpie mugs in a letter that I was after smile. They still had lots of Ws, Hs and Os and one B and one L (in the wrong box). For anyone else who might look for them in Debenhams, it's worth checking the label on the box showing the letter and the mug match up - I almost bought a 'J' but checked the box to find it was initial 'L'

TheSlug Thu 12-Sep-13 14:19:30

Have I told you lately that I love you (all)?

ProtectiveMother Thu 12-Sep-13 14:24:52

Em... What are you all getting your 3/4 y.o girls & 6/7 y.o boys?

Calling ProtectiveMother! Have you placed your Vertbaudet order yet?

My DD's dressing gown arrived today. Just to recap:
- She's 3 years and 5 months old (now)
- She's tall for her age, but thin
- I recently bought her age 3-4 M&S pinafore dresses and cardigans, which fit her well with room for growth

...she is 98cm tall so, knowing Vertbaudet come up small, I ordered 5Y

It is TINY. I'm saving it for Christmas so couldn't try it on her, but I laid it on top of her age 2-3 dressing gown (that barely covers her bottom, and has sleeves halfway up her arms) and it is exactly the same size hmm

Goodness only knows what size I need to order now. Are French children wildly shorter than English children?!

I think you were considering the 8Y dressing gown (would actually be 7/8Y as it's dual sizing from 7) for your 3 year old DD? I am seriously considering ordering that for DD.

NewShoesTwoShoes Thu 12-Sep-13 14:46:31

Has anyone bought a wooden shop in the past for their DCs? I would like to get one (bargain if possible?) for mine this year - age 3 and 5 - and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Wondering about this one from Asda - £50 and was reduced to £25 last year but then went out of stock straight away.
Asda wooden shop

Or this Pintoy one - slightly larger but £79
Pintoy wooden shop

AllThatGlistens Thu 12-Sep-13 14:48:25

Thanks so much for that Theslug! Just had the creaky book set and the smurfs one too, £4 total and free delivery flowers

Dd will be 3.5 at Christmas. I have got her:

Vtech robot
New jumper
Books, books and more books
Hello kitty scooter
Hobby horse
Hello kitty slinky
Peppa pig drawing set
More books
Christmas DVD

I think that's it!

Rubybrazilianwax Thu 12-Sep-13 14:51:24

If anyone's dc like Minecraft, this one on eBay is £40, the seller seems to have a few new sets at this price. They are£50 on amazon or anywhere else

Ilove - definitely take the time to browse through all the books on Bargain Booktime.

I linked to a Christmas pop up book by the brilliant Robert Sabuda for £5, another very lovely Christmas pop up for £4 and a box set of 5 illustrated fairytales for older children for £7. I'm on my phone and supposedly preparing dinner now but joymaker's post gives the page numbers where my links are. I included extra links to better photos of each book as the Bargain Booktime site really doesn't do any of the books any justice.

Jojay Thu 12-Sep-13 14:53:20

Anyone seen any cheap Xmas themed mugs, preferably child sized? We need a batch to fill with hot choc sets to sell at our Xmas fair.

BumpKitty Thu 12-Sep-13 15:04:03

Sylvanian families pig triplets £5.22 here though the RRP is very suspicious!

RhondaJean Thu 12-Sep-13 15:15:47

Do we have any live codes for the book people to go with the sale? < hopeful>

JustBecauseICan Thu 12-Sep-13 15:22:52

I was just looking for BP codes Rhonda- are the ones in the OP not working? Have just filled seven trollies never mind a basket.....will go and have a google.

MooseyMoo Thu 12-Sep-13 15:24:01

Well, blow me down. I walked past Whistlefish Gallery in Padstow today. Good job I hadn't order through their website yet for Christmas cards. 15 cards for £6. Saved on postage grin

JustBecauseICan Thu 12-Sep-13 15:26:23

Rhonda- the 15% off £35 is still valid, until Sunday.

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 15:32:33

Codes for book people - 'Nback' gives 10% off. 'Cheers' gives free delivery but can only be used once per account.

Protectivemother My dd will be 3.10 at Christmas and ds 7 and a half, we're getting them a bike each and disney infinity between them - not sure whether dd will get a look in with it to be honest, but there's nothing else she needs!

BuskersCat Thu 12-Sep-13 15:39:14

ProtectiveMother Dd is 3.6 and is getting

a DSi
'Rosebud' hospital

And whatever else takes my fancy

JustBecauseICan Thu 12-Sep-13 15:45:12

ooooh, an Albelli photo update.....I have just received an email offer for a photobook as big as you like for £23. As many as 100+ pages for the same price as the standard £23 one. (saving of £70)

It's a personal code for l'il ol' me only as I used the GIFT code in the OP for a free book, so if anyone is thinking of using that one, then the further offers come chugging along. Definitely the best quality photo gifts I've ever had. (have now got 10 days to make a 100+ page book....I may be some time grin) And they accept paypal so it's not even real money!

Did anyone order the retro sweets from groupon? I ordered mine over a week ago and they're all 'oh can you just wait until the end of the week' etc etc it's what we always did at work when we were out of stock...

RhondaJean Thu 12-Sep-13 15:53:35

Fab thanks I've lost all track of bp and what is and isn't live.

Re equestria dolls - I'm not sure myself but dd2 thinks they are great :-S

grew Thu 12-Sep-13 15:55:20

Thank you for the book people sale update and discount codes what a great offer

toisa Thu 12-Sep-13 15:58:03

I've now read about so many of you receiving your charlie and choc factory pop up book that I've decided I want one!! Where and how much please?

Pop up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory link for toisa

They are £3.99 plus £2 postage (maybe more on postage if you are not mainland as it asks for postcode before confirming cost)

NewShoesTwoShoes Dd2 got that Asda shop for Xmas last year. She was 3 then and she played with it loads (as did her sister who was 5). We thought it was great but the till that comes with it is a bit pants - it's basically a wooden one that doesn't really do much, just has a drawer to open. She also got a fancy till from ELC that scans shopping which she uses with the shop and a plastic shopping basket of plastic fruit/tins went down really well with it.

CelticPromise Thu 12-Sep-13 16:20:24

TheSlug I bought that set of 10 too, looks lovely. I also bought the Meg Rosoff set, brilliant present for teens. My first Christmas shopping!

nickdrakeslovechild Thu 12-Sep-13 16:28:31

I have just rung up the book people as the 15 collection of Lynley Dodd Hairy Maclary books are showing as out of stock. They are in stock, but not on the website, so ordered over the phone and used cheers (again) and they let me put it through. Been waiting for these to get back in stock for ages. Hairy Maclary

Just ordered lots of books from bargain booktime, spent £20 so got free delivery!

Ordered 4 how to draw books - 2 dinosaurs and 2 superheroes, thought one of each book and some pencils would make a nice present for ds's (7) friends.

Looking forward to getting my order!

Also collected the designabear from Argos and they're lovely.

My offering is www.giftarama-design.co.uk/ - they do mugs with your childrens drawing on for £9 - not exactly a bargain, but a lovely present.

Oh poo. I didn't notice the free delivery over £20 on Bargain Booktime and spent just under £19 then paid £2 for delivery. Doh! I could have bought an extra book for that.

LippyDiDooDah Thu 12-Sep-13 16:53:04

Just received my second issue of Glamour today. Last month they sent me the October issue so I was expecting November but instead I got September. Is the next one going to be August? I wonder if they are back issuing as it was only a £1 and in which case shall I cancel the subscription now?

Did a reserve and collect at Argos today and very pleased with my Lady GaGa T-Shirt for DD for 39p. I also got an amazing Regatta raincoat for £19.99 which fitted me perfectly - have been on the lookout for one for ages and tried the Helly Hanson ones from Studio/Ace and they felt cheap and thin in comparison plus cost nearer double. Thanks to whoever posted the link to the cheap T's thanks

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 16:53:22

Just saw on Bargain booktime website

Not cheap but all books I want to buy dd1. What sort of age do you think they would suit? DD1 will be 6 yo and I would be buying them to read at bedtime to her.

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 16:55:18

Gah - link didn't work. Its the Oxford Childrens Classic Box.

And its on The Works website, not Bargain Booktime!

That usually happens to me neverquitesure!

Gatorade Thu 12-Sep-13 17:19:22

Fairyjen if you are still looking for a puschair for your DD then Kiddicare have some with height adjustable handles which might work, they are reduced from £39.99 to £9.99 and £19.99 depending which one you choose:

kiwidreamer Thu 12-Sep-13 17:27:38

I resisted so well for so long but then caved with the lovely Charlie pop up book and got two of the Enid Blyton books for our Faraway Tree collection plus a Christmas pop up book to get the free delivery. DH is going to proper kill me, but the thing is, my darling DH, there aren't actually any such things as Christmas fairies, so since I do ALL the work for Christmas cos I love it and am a control freak then I neeeeeeeeeeeeed to spend this money!!

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 17:30:18

I'm reading Faraway tree to 6yo dd1 atm kiwidreamer, she is enthralled! I absolutely love sharing books that I enjoyed with her

SarahAndFuck Thu 12-Sep-13 17:56:04

joymaker the Home Bargains mugs are really nice and you are right, they do have a bone china stamp on the bottom. Two of them have my initial and I'm tempted to keep one now.

I'm still very pleased to get them for 99p each.

Those other ones, the magpie ones, I've seen them in TK Maxx recently too.

Well, I received my Albelli photo book this morning, and it's stunning grin

Have now commandeered my brother and DHs emails and work/home addresses to make up some more! Beautiful and the code makes it fantastic value for money.

ProtectiveMother Thu 12-Sep-13 18:41:09

NickDrake I am on the phone to the book people to try and get the Hairy books. How did you manage this? They say they don't have any!

Omg, I left the thread damn kids taking me away from mn for a day and I have 7 pages to catch up on.

Thanks snowgirl1 mil is getting a Sanderson notepad (£5 reduced from £10) and a Sanderson pen (£6 reduced from £12) and dds are getting stocking fillers like hello kitty notebooks and moshi monster notepads. For aunt I was looking for something like an aspinalls pad as she loves her luxury brands. Annoyingly a friend told me that aspinalls have only just finished a sale this week so I didn't get there in time.

Thanks to the person who linked to Argos and the portable playmobile vet clinic. After waiting in for it all day it has just been delivered. I can't open it now in front of dds but I am pleased it's a big box! The child in me always gets excited by big presents so I'm hoping dd2 is excited when she sees it. link here

Zeeky Thu 12-Sep-13 18:55:36

Any The Book People codes knocking around? My order is already qualifying for free delivery so was hoping there was % off code somewhere.

They have the Oxford Reading Tree level 4-6 for £14 (25 books)

lazzaroo Thu 12-Sep-13 18:59:47

Quick question about the albelli photo books. How quick is it at uploading photos? All mine are uploaded to truprint as that's where I usually do my books & gifts, is it worth the time re-uploading?!

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 19:08:46

Was going some reduced Hello Kitty from Clintons but there is option to collect from store and it isn't worth the P&P.

Can't find a free del code either.

bymoonlight Thu 12-Sep-13 19:09:50

Zeeky NBACK and CHEERS for book people.

lazeroo it adds a programme on your computer and you can select them directly from your picture folder, so as long as they're saved on your computer it's very quick, and the books are beautiful!

lazzaroo Thu 12-Sep-13 19:13:38

Thanks working. I think I'll give it a go, have at least one photo book present planned this year smile

RhondaJean Thu 12-Sep-13 19:20:08

Hey guys I just remember bangzo books - they do daily deals and every Thursday is a special deal. Today is 3 teen novels about were cats for 3pm ideal for my dd1, they have a set of 5 monsters uni books for £5.99 too, you can usually buy two days behind in their offers as well.

Postage is £4.95 but if you get a good Thursday deal and order a couple of other sets it's well worth it.

CarmonEileen Thu 12-Sep-13 19:32:22

Just put in my order for Bargain Booktime, MIL around tonight and asked me to order 2 copies of Charlie and the chocolate factory book for her, I've ordered two for myself then put a copy of other books on to get free delivery. The Disney Store has small Pooh character soft toys reduced from £15 to £8. Delivery is £4.95 (free over £50)so may not be worth it unless you buy a few things or happen to live near a store. From past experience they are v nice quality though

issynoho Fri 13-Sep-13 13:10:24

jamtoast12 Fri 13-Sep-13 13:30:50

2012 is style 3316

itsonlysubterfuge Fri 13-Sep-13 13:32:51

I went to B&M yesterday and they had loads of stuff marked down for clearence. They have also brought in some of their Christmas stock as well and they have a lot of toys. Bought a Minnie Mouse Trolley for my daughter, can't decide if I should buy her a kitchen or not, she'll be 18 months, but everytime we've gone past a toy kitchen she's spent ages playing with it, all the kitchens say 3+ on them though.

chirpchirp Fri 13-Sep-13 13:43:40

Oh sweet baby Jesus. I just accidentally hid this thread and have spent a panic strickened 25 minutes trying to work out how to undo my idiotic action. Phew.

Jojay Fri 13-Sep-13 13:53:51

Thank you raisah - those mugs look just the job!

WaitMonkey Fri 13-Sep-13 14:01:15

it'sonly, 18months isn't to young for a kitchen. Sounds like she would love one. We have the Ikea one, it's great.

Chocolateteabag Fri 13-Sep-13 14:04:41

My Elemis Bath stuff has just been delivered by the postie. Box is pretty bashed so may just keep it for me grin

issynoho Fri 13-Sep-13 14:10:31

iloveholidays Fri 13-Sep-13 14:16:18

Did someone say that they had their H&M order cancelled? I've just had an email saying they've despatched the order...... ???

issynoho Fri 13-Sep-13 14:20:00

Elemis Elle update - they replied quickly to say code ELEMISELLE01 is now working. P&P is £3 on top.

Rumours Fri 13-Sep-13 14:22:06

Thanks for the book people codes, I went through them all and NBACK worked for 10% off and CHEERS gave me free delivery, the rest didn't work or I wasn't eligible.

I was thinking of doing Baileys Hot choc mugs for teachers etc - so mug,m sachet of hot choc, packet of marshmellows and a Baileys miniature.
1. Is that a shite idea and
2. I've seen Tesco mugs for £1, has anyone seen any nicer ones for <£1?

Huffpot Fri 13-Sep-13 14:41:04

Tea and Confidence I'll report back if it arrives,,can you too? I want to cancel the crappy mag too!

it'sonly 18 months is a cook age for a kitchen. They're a bit young for real pretent cooking, but love fiddling with the different doors and bits.

chirpchirp shock at hiding this thread! How would I spend my time and money without it?

ProtectiveMother Fri 13-Sep-13 15:09:31

Excellent teacher present but I may just get them the mugs :-)

A good age, not a cook age, obviously.

HenriettaPye Fri 13-Sep-13 15:11:13

I got one last year when they were on a black Friday deal - for me.....and dd (almost 10) has commandeered it to the point that I have let her have it. Thousands of free amazon books, apps etc. What's not to like? grin <encourages others to spend>

Reastie Fri 13-Sep-13 15:39:50

Frisky not less than £1 as £1.29 but I've picked up a couple of these mugs in homebase and really like them. They have different colours/animals and look really nice in RL.

Smyths - Vtech innotab in pink and lue only £19.99 rrp£49.99

raisah Fri 13-Sep-13 16:23:11

JoJay Bymoonlight found the same polar animal mugs at Baker Ross for £1 less so £1.99 for 3 and they also do a box of 24 for £14.99

bymoonlight Fri 13-Sep-13 16:27:20

Charlie and the chocolate factory arrived today and it is fab! A really beautiful book. Puff is also lovely!

I went into Boots today as they half price toys which still work under their 3 for 2 offer. They didn't have a lot left that was half price but I did get a Wibbly Pig puzzle, half price.. I also bought the small Lego pink box, which was £8 ish (cheaper than Amazon) and a Lego creator fire engine, which worked out free under the 3 for 2 offer.

I would advise anyone shopping instore with a smartphone to download the Amazon app (or similar) so you can compare instore prices with online prices just by scanning the barcode. So much of what I scanned instore was cheaper online, despite Boots saying it was 'half price'.

LippyDiDooDah Fri 13-Sep-13 16:39:41

My Glamour mag free gift arrived today. Was expecting one set but 4 boxes of teeth whitening sets have arrived. Don't remember it being for 4 boxes but not complaining - anyone else get 4?

RobinBedRest Fri 13-Sep-13 16:57:12

Woolies still have a sale online, here is a £1 Moshi Monsters water bottle, assume there's postage though, unless anyone knows any codes?

Thrustbadger Fri 13-Sep-13 16:57:35

Currently free postage on everything at toysrus. Gutted as I just paid £5 postage.

RhondaJean Fri 13-Sep-13 17:16:59

My teeth whitening kit isn't here yet either!

Oreo was it you who ordered two women's fitness mags as well? Did they send you two elemis?

Wondering whether to complain DH hasn't has his...it occurred to me that both the elemis and the fat loss book I got both came to ME but the second sub was for him (cough) and the second mag came addressed to him so he hasn't had his gift yet.

I think.

Btw I can't get the Elle code to work either sad

I am trying to build up a lego collection. We only have a basic box of brick atm! If anyone sees any deals on Lego basic bricks or Lego creator I'd be grateful!

PoppyWearer Fri 13-Sep-13 17:45:02

Innotab 2 now out of stock on the Smythson website - you beat me all to it!!!

If anyone sees it back in stock at that price, please can you tell me? thanks

MissElodie Fri 13-Sep-13 17:46:15

Thank you to whoever posted about the Squinkies - collected mine today and can't believe what good value they are!

I still don't really get what they are even now I've seen them now - but I guess I am just too old! smile I'm hoping my DNiece (7) will appreciate them though! I got the campervan instead of the carriage too but can't complain!

issynoho Fri 13-Sep-13 17:46:44

Thanks Elainey - have reserved 2 Octonauts cuddlies for DN.

Chocolateteabag Fri 13-Sep-13 17:48:54

hmm the Elemis code ELEMISELLE01 worked for me on 2 lip balms initially. I then stupidly thought I'd have a look at what else I could buy - and they've taken it back off.

So now I shall buy nothing from them at all

<grumble, grumble>

PoppyWearer Fri 13-Sep-13 17:49:18

Sorry, not Innotab 2, it's the Innotab 1 (without the number).

MissElodie Fri 13-Sep-13 17:54:03

I know that people buy teachers gifts but can I ask - is it the done thing to buy presents for nursery staff? Its my DC's first Christmas at nursery so I wasn't sure and also would I just buy for their key worker? I don't want to make a faux pas with the present giving etiquette! wink

Argh I hadn't even thought about nursery staff!

RobinBedRest Fri 13-Sep-13 17:57:20

Just seen XWORK30, code for 30pc off The Works, not tried it yet though!

I will get dd to draw them each a picture I'm sure I read on here that teachers prefer personal touches.....!

RobinBedRest Fri 13-Sep-13 18:00:42

It did say only full price items and not sets though.

LaTrucha Fri 13-Sep-13 18:09:26

The last two years, close to Christmas, Thorntons have reduced hampers. I have got one for Dcs nursery. They were reduced to about £20 - which works out well between the number of staff they have there. I'd spend much more individually but it looks nice and all the stuff inside is individually wrapped so people can choose what they want. Seemed to work well.

MissElodie Fri 13-Sep-13 18:09:34

oh yes Spotty I have read that too, personal touch preferred. Good idea...if you can get away with it! I don't think my DC's best artistic efforts are able to be given as presents at this stage unfortunately! I'm liking Friskys idea with reasties owl mugs!

ipswichwitch Fri 13-Sep-13 18:10:12

spottyteacakes I got the retro sweets from groupon and mine came on Monday, in time for DHs birthday Wednesday. Box was slightly dented as it was only packed in a plastic envelope, but DH is too busy stuffing his face with the goodies to care!!

Ipswich I finally got mine today! Not sure it'll last until Christmas....confused

Dd can draw people but generally just scribbles grin thorntons hamper sounds good

Crabtree and Evelyn have emailed a one day only offer, box set of hand stuff they say is worth 60 for 25 , look like it might split up nicely for teachers etc

RhondaJean Fri 13-Sep-13 18:25:04

The elemis code on Elle isn't working at all, tried it with several things sad

Jojay Fri 13-Sep-13 18:41:58

Frisky - Argos do 6 plain white mugs for £3.49 - here

Jojay Fri 13-Sep-13 18:42:59

Raisah thanks for the Baker Ross tip - even better!

Marne Fri 13-Sep-13 18:51:58

Marking my place <trying so hard not to buy anything until November or I will forget what I have bought and my house will end up looking like toys r us Christmas day>

For those who have got the InnoTab bargain from Smyths, ToysRUs have got them on BOGOHP at the minute, and it's free delivery this weekend.

WithConfidence Fri 13-Sep-13 19:14:38

Tea, attheend Got Elemis today!

CatAmongThePigeons Fri 13-Sep-13 19:24:14

I managed to get the Elle code to work at about half two, looks like they pulled it soon after.

The email stated that the gift was OOS, so I'll have to see if I get it, or if I get something different.

Leilandri Fri 13-Sep-13 19:37:27

Nice little cooking accessories for those with DC's at cooking age, or to accompany a toy kitchen ...
cookie cutters

Leilandri Fri 13-Sep-13 19:42:36

For those looking for teachers (etc) gifts, maybe the mugs that jojay mentioned, personalised by DC's with ceramic pens? Then filled with sweets/hot choc etc. Cheap and personalised. my DMiL is a TA in a primary school and she always prefers the personal gifts.

Leilandri Fri 13-Sep-13 19:45:44

For Hello Kitty DD's, maybe with hot choc? mug

Oreocrumbs Fri 13-Sep-13 19:46:48

RhondaJean - I ordered 2 women's fitness subs, one for me, one for DP. Have received 2 bottled of Elemis, both addressed to me. Still no magazines though hmm.

I think the person who paid for the subscription gets the free gifts, not the recipient. They both came at the same time, but were in 2 different envelopes, both had my name on.

I would ring up and ask about it.

LippyDi, I got 4 boxes of tooth whitener today too. I can't really remember exactly what the offer was, but I don't think it was this! I thought it was some sort of kit rather than 4 tubes of toothpaste, but I'm happy enough with that. At least they will get used, I suspect the kit would have got dusty in a cupboard.

DP got rather excited by them, vain thing that he is grin.

bigwigg Fri 13-Sep-13 19:47:24

Hello, been nosing on this thread and grabbed lots of bargains so many thanks to the OP. Just thought I'd add, as DH is a teacher, her loves the personal presents rather than shop bought stuff
He got one of these M&M jars is summer and loved it:

Love the mug! Not going anywhere near an Argos though (or anywhere in fact as its Goodwood revival which means horrendous traffic).

I've decided that dd can make reindeer 'tree decorations' with hand and foot prints grinsomething personal but that they can dispose of after Christmas so doesn't end up cluttering their house

HeathcliffeItsMe Fri 13-Sep-13 19:49:22

The Spicery is offering 25% off its spice subscriptions with the code FAVOURITES but only until 15th September.

bymoonlight Fri 13-Sep-13 19:51:39

Have reserved a Hello Kitty mug for my 6yo obsessed dd1.

Thank you Leilandri thanks smile

Oreocrumbs Fri 13-Sep-13 19:52:30

LaTrucha great idea about the hampers. I was just trying to work out what to do about nursery today.

DD has a key worker, but all of the staff seem to have some sort of direct relationship with her.

I had so far come up with a gift (like the molton brown hand cream if that offer re appears this year) for key worker, and a tea/coffee hamper for the staff room.

But the Thornton's hamper would be better.

RhondaJean Fri 13-Sep-13 19:53:51

Hmmm I think I might need to phone them Oreo.

Getting less and less happy about a £5.99 book instead of an elemis product. have not been readig book avidly, allowed colleague to photocopy it and written a shopping list based on it, oh no, not me

The tooth whitening - it did say something about a kit, it sounded like a toothpaste type kit though, I imagined it with a toothbrush and things rather than a whitening gel. I got it for dd1, reckon she will be just as happy anyway.

I have decided to get the DDs each a little box of lucky charms from the American sweet shop thats opened in town, and put them in Christmas bowls and package them up under the tree for breakfast Xmas morning.

If anyone sees nice / cheap Xmas bowls please let me know.

LippyDiDooDah Fri 13-Sep-13 20:06:19

oreo thanks, think that must be right then. Can't remember what the offer was either smile but quite happy as it's a free gift. Did you get the September issue this week also then? So weird as got the October issue a few weeks back confused

RosesInTheRain Fri 13-Sep-13 20:07:37

MissElodie I do a present for all the staff and give it to the room leader. First year I just bought a box of posh biscuits, last year DS 'helped' me bake Christmas muffins and we took those in. Both have been well received. This year we'll bake something again I think.

Leilandri Fri 13-Sep-13 20:08:52

On a bit of a random mug hunt now!
For Cars loving little men cars
or little princesses princess

Theonlyoneiknow Fri 13-Sep-13 20:11:04

I got the DCs nursery staff one of these mirrors each and they loved them

ProtectiveMother Fri 13-Sep-13 20:13:54

Just bought the RC helicopter so thanks for that to the poster!! (The amazon app really is dangerous!)

To whoever suggested those markers, they're for unglazed items so won't work on the mugs unfortunately. Pics will rub off. From a thread on here, I saw that mugs are often a no-no for teachers. I think making a Christmas decoration is a very sweet idea and I will be copying that one mercilessly as I always have 4 teachers or more to buy for and hate spending lots of money! :-)

Now I've got lots for my son but mainly lots of items that are worth about £30 each. So... this brings me nicely to my next question for you Mumsnet Christmas elves- does Santa HAVE to bring 1 'big' present and other small ones. This seems to be the accepted tradition. Discuss. ;-)

BeaWheesht Fri 13-Sep-13 20:16:39

I've just got dd a didicar - they look fab and with a code from FB there's 25% off which equates to 12.50. You just need to like the FB page on a desktop sore.

the code expires today
