Marking my place too, I love a Christmas bargain and plan to start buying asap...

buildingmycorestrength Tue 25-Jun-13 16:51:05

Ooh, thanks for these!

notapizzaeater Tue 25-Jun-13 16:53:58

If making a hamper approved foods do some good toiletries as well as cheap food, got lots of duchy original hand creams last year for 99p a bottle

zipzap Tue 25-Jun-13 17:17:17

It's worth signing up for the book people emails. They have regular offers and promotions on - a little while ago they had the Lego brickmaster books on offer at a fiver each - instead of £8 and RRP is £20 so a fab saving (guess who got several for presents put by already grin)

There's currently a summer promotion and they often have offers of free delivery on for just a few days. They often tie them to events happening so things like wimbledon or end of term etc would be worth looking out for them!

zipzap Tue 25-Jun-13 17:19:28

Has anybody mentioned the dotcom gift shop's summer sale? That's on at the moment and lots of real bargains.

And the John Lewis sale is on at the moment.

zipzap Tue 25-Jun-13 17:22:28

And it's not christmas presents I know but saving money...

The M&S 20% off schoolwear promotion ends soon - just had an email through reminding me about the fact.

They used to call it their Back to School promotion (and that's what the staff in store are still calling it!) but they can't do that any more as they start the ruddy thing before the Summer half term holidays! [grump]

MortifiedAdams Tue 25-Jun-13 17:25:46

Anyone got a birthday code for ELC?

issynoho Tue 25-Jun-13 17:32:31

I have just bought Series 1&2 and Christmas Special (turkey one! grin for £3 at Sainsburys online! (For Wilfs birthday!) wink
The individual series cost more than the boxset does and Tescos wants £25 for it and Asda want £20! shock

Dysgu Tue 25-Jun-13 23:35:01

Lottie i think I will buy that Mrs Browns Boys stuff - maybe twice so that gets me started.

Zipzap that dotcomegiftshop looks great - off to shop now (as DP has gone to bed!)

Fleetwoodbigmac Wed 26-Jun-13 00:21:23

Am contemplating that airport...

MooseyMoo Wed 26-Jun-13 07:49:59

kotinka Wed 26-Jun-13 11:03:51

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

PoppyWearer Wed 26-Jun-13 11:06:19

reastie did you see that the Money Saving Expert email this morning said about saving/spreading the coat of Christmas? You beat them to it!

I also got some party bag stuff on dotcomgiftshop and I reckon there's some good teacher presents there too if there is anything left.

MooseyMoo Wed 26-Jun-13 11:13:08

Debenhams have further 15% off with FL72 and free delivery with SHBC

Huffpot Wed 26-Jun-13 11:16:17

Loved this thread last year!

Overreactionoftheweek Wed 26-Jun-13 11:23:46

Thanks for the scooter code and info, that's ds sorted! Great thread

TwllBach Wed 26-Jun-13 11:34:10

Oooh well done grin I was on this thread last year but joined too late and was too busy to make real use of it. What a good idea to start it early grin

Cox and Cox have a nice dinosaur rubber and some nice little dog keyrings - have spent £30 and got all of DCs friends presents.

Also spent quite a lot in dot.com giftshop - but that good thing - means only have to get a couple of pressies for the kids stockings now and all done.

WhistlingBay Wed 26-Jun-13 12:14:20

What are you all buying on the dotcom website?

RumersHasIt Wed 26-Jun-13 12:17:12

I've just taken a look at the dotcom site and it all looks a bit... crap. What are you all buying?

I don't know any one who'd want a spoon, or a sticker sheet (which i could get at Poundland), or a butter dish. Maybe i'm not fancy enough. grin

If anyone can help me find a pair of slippers 'that flap their ears when you jump, Mum!', i'd be most thankful. DD says they're called Thumpers or Stompers or something like that.

WhistlingBay Wed 26-Jun-13 12:22:55

Slippeez? *RumersHasIt

LookFantastic.com has some really good bits in their sale and a free purse if you spend over £25.

They do a huge tub of Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour moisturiser (not the greasy one) for about £30 is bargainous - lasts for bloody ages and is the best moisturiser I have ever used.

Fleetwoodbigmac Wed 26-Jun-13 13:40:42

Debenhams have a scale model Mercedes car remote controlled down from £20 To £6 grin

PoppyWearer Wed 26-Jun-13 14:15:19

All the good stuff has probably now gone from dotcomgiftshop now that us vipers vultures ladies have stripped it!

But IIRC I ordered some of the wooden soldier skittles for £5 a set, little wooden pencil box sets for something ridiculous like £2 each, grow-a-sunflower sets for 39p each, and other odds and ends like that. Not all destined for stockings, but I have four little ones to buy for with my nieces too, we give them some odds and ends as well as a main present. And always bits needed for school fairs etc.

FrantasticO Wed 26-Jun-13 14:17:43

Mrs brown ordered.
Thanks!

Reastie Wed 26-Jun-13 14:31:54
LottieJenkins Wed 26-Jun-13 17:26:11

Have just checked Mrs Brown and it is still £3!!

PoppyWearer Wed 26-Jun-13 17:55:12
zipzap Wed 26-Jun-13 18:47:55

Anybody ordering stuff from elc check it o mothercare too. They're all part of the same business but for some reason you can do pick up in store if you order on mothercare but not if you order through elc... Despite the fact that in loads of places they are now combined stores.

Just means that if you are able to pick up anyway you get to save on postage.

Also - the entertainer (aka thetoyshop.co.uk) also has a good sale on at the moment and I think Argos have their summer sale on too.

Finally make sure you sign up for a cashback site like quidco and see if you can get any extra cashback as you go - might end up with some extra pounds come Christmas!

lightrain Wed 26-Jun-13 18:50:45

Where are you ordering mrs browns boys from? It's showing up as £30 on the link to sainsburys for me.

Dysgu Wed 26-Jun-13 19:16:56

Have ordered Mrs Browns Boys from link further upthread. Was £3 for series 1 and 2 on DVD. The bluray might be £30.

Dysgu Wed 26-Jun-13 19:18:32

Hi!! This is a great thread, I am already doing my Christmas shopping as I'm about to go on maternity leave so using up my last pay check!!

I'm a first time mummy though and don't know many people at all with children, so all my presents are for adults. Is there an adult christmas bargain thread/would anyone be interested in one, or are there lots of adulty presents that crop on on these threads too?

HenriettaPye Fri 28-Jun-13 11:06:59

Fab thread! Was just thinking this morning that its less than 6 months now so I better start getting bits and pieces in. Although its quite hard knowing what they will be into at Christmas time!

WhoremoaneeGrainger Fri 28-Jun-13 11:19:48

Thanks for this. Just got loads of hanging hearts from DOTCOM for DD (11) stocking - most expensive was £1.50. And a fab journal, something she mentioned yesterday. Only spent £9.47, but have 8 or 9 stocking bits. Great thread OP.

Another one to add - still kids! - play have Brave DND/blue ray on offer today for £6.99 dvd , bit more for blueray. cheapest I've seen it around anywhere.

And the argos sale is on - amongst other things, lots of lego reduced - lots out of stock locally and online but you might just get lucky!

Murtette Mon 01-Jul-13 22:09:53

So, dedicated bargain hunters, do you think its worth "investing" in a Playmobil advent calendar now or waiting until nearer the time (by which I mean Sept or Aug rather than Nov when presumably prices must rocket)?
I am already getting excited about how excited DD will be to have one!

Oreocrumbs Mon 01-Jul-13 22:26:56

Murtette, I bought mine a few weeks ago, do you know how to use camelcamelcamel?

I bought it when it dropped to £8 odd. You can set a price alert for products so it emails you when items drop to your desired price.

You can also use it to see what the previous prices have been for all amazon products, so you know when something is a good price or not.

I started watching the advent calendars around the end of the summer hols last year and they didn't really drop below the £14 mark until Christmas, so I have bought mine early this year!

Murtette Mon 01-Jul-13 22:43:42

No. But it sounds exactly what I need. I've just signed up for it. How does it actually work though? And any tips so I'm not bombarded with information all of the time?

Oreocrumbs Mon 01-Jul-13 23:42:25

It is an amazon price tracker site.

Select the UK page and register (just email etc). Then just put a product into the search bar, e.g I put in playmobil advent calendar.

That takes you to a list of suitable products, just like amazon does. Select the one you are interested in and click on it. That will give you the page I linked to.

Have a look at the chart, you can select form amazon or 3rd party sellers, and see how the price has charted over the last few months.

If you can see it is, say £20 today, but the chart shows it drops to £10 at certain times, then you may decide not to buy it now but to wait, so you can track it at the top of the page. Just put in a price that you want and click track, when the item drops to or below your set price camel with email/tweet you.

You can do all kinds of other things, porting your wish list from amazon etc but I'm not that technical!

Also, on the home page it has info on what are the best % price drops in popular/your favourite categories. So sometimes you notice something at a good price and buy it, even if you don't need it grin.

Someone posted about it on this thread last year and it is a great site. I started thinking about what sort of things I would probably like for my DD's birthday and Christmas (she is only 3 so still up to me!!) and tracked them in January.

I bought the calendar in May, and will buy things like playmobil, lego, sylvanian familes as and when they drop to a good price through out the year.

Oreocrumbs Mon 01-Jul-13 23:44:35

Oh and it only emails you when you have an alert that you have to manually set, so no daily spamming!

blondieminx Tue 02-Jul-13 00:24:24

Good lord I've blown a fortune on Amazon tonight thanks to this thread blush

stocked up on various Playmobil bits, thanks thanks thanks and also spotted that they have some Sylvanian Families discounts [[http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sylvanian-Families-Games-Gymnastics-Set/dp/B0062VCFPO/ref=sr_1_138?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1372720718&sr=1-138&keywords=sylvanian+families like this gymnastics set was £17.99 now £13.29). Although, I can't beleive they want a fiver for a teeny tiny plastic Sylvanian Families loo hmm

DTismydoctor is it worth ringing customer services to see if any local stores are holding that item at all? Some retailers (thinking here of Debenhams) will do that for you as it's win-win - you get your item and are pleased they've gone the extra mile, they get your spend!

Thanks for the dotcomgiftshop tip. However, I spent £40 on bit and bobs for Christmas and a forthcoming birthday but the parcel didn't arrive during the one-hour allocated slot. I've spent 5 days chasing it (it still hasn't turned up) and I'm a bit cheesed off at being offered a £2.95 refund to compensate. Apart from that - great site!

LaTrucha Sat 06-Jul-13 21:30:53

Would it be ok for someone who will be 6?

PrincessWellington Sat 06-Jul-13 21:51:01

I brought it for dd who was 9 at the time but dd2 who was 6 nicked borrowed it lots so i would think so!

mercibucket Sat 06-Jul-13 22:45:40

the playmobil school really annoyed me. it was on sale last year for around 50 quid when they suddenly doubled the price. i hate those so called half price offers.
still, 39 quid is a good price for it

PrincessWellington Sat 06-Jul-13 23:31:08

LaTrucha Sun 07-Jul-13 14:17:35

Thanks for the paper jamz feedback. I don't seem to be able to make the 15% off code work with it. Anyone had any luck with it ?

LaTrucha Sun 07-Jul-13 14:17:46

p.s. Boden sale now on.

Umlauf Sun 07-Jul-13 15:33:01

Joules has an OK sale, very pretty umbrellas half price (now a tenner) with 1 pound delivery.

sameoldIggi Sun 07-Jul-13 15:49:41

How do you all know what they will (ahem) ask Santa for? My ds (almost 6)'s tastes change so much. I could make a very expensive mistake.

Reastie Sun 07-Jul-13 16:06:27

My DD is 2 same so I can twist and control things easier than when she gets older I think!

LaTrucha Sun 07-Jul-13 16:08:46

Guess!

There are loads of offers that come on nearer to Christmas, so no need to start now unless you want to. DD stays pretty consistent. She has been asking for a microphone for about two years. She also wants a V tech electronic diary, which I know she will want then. DS wants a forestry tractor from Bruder but I know it won't come down much in price, so I won't buy it yet just in case he changes his mind.

PrincessWellington Sun 07-Jul-13 16:28:07

I'm always asked in December what dcs want so if there is something specific its covered like this.

PrincessWellington Sun 07-Jul-13 16:31:05

Car boot finds today were Enid blyton book, joke set and wicked queen from Snow White. All new. Am wondering how much I can do via car boot this year?!? Already got a David Walliams book and several Shirley Hughes books.

MooseyMoo Mon 08-Jul-13 14:05:06

John Deere ride on tractor £64 (normally £139)

Would love to get this for DS 2nd birthday but we don't really have room

PoppyWearer Mon 08-Jul-13 14:31:40

I picked up the Playmobil school today and it's huge! thanksthanks

The lady serving me at Argos couldn't believe the price either.

(I might actually put it aside for DS' next birthday as I think DH might get huffy about another big plastic toy this year. But still, that is his birthday sorted!)

Reastie Mon 08-Jul-13 15:16:53

Another person picked up the playmobil school today and very pleased although the box was rather battered ( angry to argos). Very good value. I'm thinking of putting it aside for DDs 4th birthday - is that the right kind of age for playmobil or is it better before then?

LaTrucha Mon 08-Jul-13 15:38:39

I got one too. Very dusty but otherwise looks great. Thankyou. I think 4 would be fine Reastie.

Chockywockydoodah Mon 08-Jul-13 16:26:00

I'm picking up my Playmobil school tomorrow (visiting Argos without a nosey DD in tow)!

Reastie I think Im thinking the same as you, keep it for DD's 4th bday. She loves her Happyland at the mo grin

poppy my DH sounds same as yours, moaning about the amount of toys we have! We don't have half as many toys as some other children who's houses we have visited! shock

LaTrucha Mon 08-Jul-13 17:50:42

Chocky - Argos are very good at bagging up behind the counter. I usually tell DCs it's something boring for the kitchen. I'm a bit abashed that they always believe me!

MisForMumNotMaid Mon 08-Jul-13 17:53:22

Wow that playmobil school is fantastic. Just reserved for DD's 3rd Birthday in January!

olivo Mon 08-Jul-13 18:20:38

I have bought the school for Dds 4 th birthday. DD1 would like it though, and she is 7! That's why it is perfect, it'll keep them both occupied!

Chockywockydoodah Mon 08-Jul-13 18:21:18

thanks LaTrucha good to know that! wink

Not a huge discount but looks fun... Colour in playhouse £7

Tempted for in the garden this week whilst its hot to keep the girls entertained!!!

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9059722.htm

PoppyWearer Mon 08-Jul-13 18:59:42

The colour in playhouse is a good price - would be a good one for a birthday present.

Taffeta Mon 08-Jul-13 19:25:09

Sarah Raven sale on, lovely stuff in home section

Murtette Mon 08-Jul-13 20:02:42

For those of you with the Playmobil school (which I'm about to take a look at) - DD is 3.8 and has just started playing with Playmobil. She loves it. It is incredibly intricate, especially in contrast to Happyland/Little People stuff. I'd say its more suitable for 4yo than 3yo. But has tiny bits so its easy to lose them & you have to be very careful if you have a baby (as we do) as a lot of it could be swallowed. DD just has a couple of the smaller sets and is only allowed to play with them at the kitchen table & preferably when DS is napping.

Murtette Mon 08-Jul-13 20:15:20

Also just reserved the Playmobil school! That's DD's Xmas present sorted. And for her bday she's having a bike (not that I've got that yet) and DS will be having something down from the loft (DDs old toys are all up there) for Xmas so that's the kids sorted!

MortifiedAdams Mon 08-Jul-13 20:47:00

Anyone woth the school already - does it come with all the people? Just on the website when I clicked on it, it shows alternative products and one of them is "Fully Furnished School" for the £100odd price?

ive found one in stock at a nearish store so will collect tomorrow but am.worried it is just an enpty school.

Oreocrumbs Mon 08-Jul-13 21:02:29

It comes with 10 people, and some school stuff like a blackboard, pens, books, back packs, a skeleton(!).

There are two schools, they appear to be the same school building but the cheaper one (this one) has a small selection of bits, where I think the other has more.

I think there is more than enough in this kit, and certainly for the price difference.

Oreocrumbs Mon 08-Jul-13 21:05:11

Having just looked at the box for Mortified, I'm wondering how long this is going to take to build? There are 491 pieces!

Should I start now in the hope it is ready for Christmas day? grin

Murtette Mon 08-Jul-13 21:08:13

The spec for the more expensive one is :

•The Playmobil Large School Building comes with a classroom complete with a fully functional blackboard, desks, posters and many books, a science lab with skeleton and microscope.
• Also includes office with PCs and drinks making facilities, boys and girls toilets, and an art and music room complete with instruments, paint sets and sculptures.
• Includes 9 Playmobil figures, a chiming break bell and over 50 accessories.

The spec for the cheaper one is:
•The Playmobil School Building features your favourite lessons and comes with 10 Playmobil figure and over 60 accessories.
•The Maths room has a functional blackboard.
•The Science room contains a microscope, test tubes and a full-size skeleton.
•There's lots of activity in the Art room with painting and drawing.
•The music group can practice during break times.
•One supplied.

So it seems you get slightly more in the cheaper one (1 more figure and 10 more accessories). Is the more expensive one the "new improved" version and therefore they're trying to get rid of old stock? Tbh, I don't care. Its such a bargain. DD is going to be so excited and I am getting excited thinking about her excitement in 5 months and 13 days time (or however long it is!).

Oreo - I hadn't even put the school on CamelCamel as it was so beyond my budget I hadn't dreamed I'd be able to get it for DD.

MortifiedAdams Mon 08-Jul-13 21:10:31

Ahh great! totally not worth the extra then!

Oreocrumbs Mon 08-Jul-13 21:10:46

I know, I was tracking it, but it wasn't really with an intention to buy, I'm reluctant to tie that much money up on one toy for a small child!

I'm over the moon that it turned up on this thread grin

MortifiedAdams Mon 08-Jul-13 21:12:55

DH seems to think Im.nuts buying it.in for DD for when she is 3/4 (she is 19mo ) but he will realise how worth it it is when we only need a stocking doing that christmas!

Oreocrumbs Mon 08-Jul-13 21:16:22

Ah bless him, my DP thinks I'm mad too, I stockpile bargains!

Reastie Mon 08-Jul-13 21:17:38

I just hide it all from DH now grin

Chockywockydoodah Mon 08-Jul-13 21:35:12

I hide my batgain buys from DH too! They just "magically" appear at Christmas/birthdays!! grin

Chockywockydoodah Mon 08-Jul-13 21:36:30

Tssk bargain (not batgain) buys!

PoppyWearer Mon 08-Jul-13 21:42:29

491 pieces! shock

I also stash stuff up in the loft away from DH and yes, it appears on the day. So glad I'm not the only one! I do try to stick to a vague budget but DH never believes I've stuck to it when he sees the mountain of stuff.

The problem with hiding it is that I forget what I've bought!

BuffyFairy Mon 08-Jul-13 22:03:13

Mortified I've been wishing I could stockpile it for my DD, 21m but we don't have the space. Wondering if it's worth asking the in laws to keep it at theirs.

Does anyone know if there's a Playmobil 'find' most years?

BoffinMum Mon 08-Jul-13 22:44:31

Mortified, bugger giving that away. Just set it up as a Free School in your back garden and claim £m in Government subsidies wink

jenbird Mon 08-Jul-13 22:47:06

There were LaLoopsy dolls in B and M today for £9.99 and the mini ones for £7.99

parrotsandcarsnips Mon 08-Jul-13 23:10:50

Huge thanks to CURLYGIRL I too have ordered the playmobil school not sure for who or when but too good to miss, sooo delighted. Around this time last year i bought the elc fireman's house with 70% off (also from this thread) and it is for my 2.5 year old this christmas.Loving that the thread is back!

BeaWheesht Mon 08-Jul-13 23:52:28

I seem to remember the school was on this thread last year too.

mercibucket Tue 09-Jul-13 08:17:17

the school was definitely around this price near xmas last year too. it's mostly sold by argos and, i think, amazon.
there will be plenty more playmobil bargains from oct onwards, dont worry!
i have a keywords alert set up on hotukdeals for playmobil as well. xmas stuff has been coming out recently so worth keeping an eye on

Rhinopotamus Tue 09-Jul-13 09:10:32

I got Polar Express on DVD for £2 from play.com today. Thanks for the playmobil school tip. Just reserved the last one at our local store.

500internalerror Tue 09-Jul-13 09:19:12

The playmobil football ground is half price in Argos too @ £20.

laurenamium Tue 09-Jul-13 09:46:57

Remarking my spot as its kicked me off!

MortifiedAdams Tue 09-Jul-13 10:54:05

Picked up my school this morning - its huge!

Warning - Playmobil takes hours to build, do not think you're going to whip it together on Christmas Eve.

But it is fab - dd has only just decided Playmobil is too young (she is 11) and she still sneaks in and plays with my playmobil victorian dollshouse (which is mine all mine and not a toy oh no).

DaddyPigsMistress Tue 09-Jul-13 11:54:35

indeed bertha! I spent Christmas eve last year doing the sodding ship and school. I burst into frustrated tears at 2am and called in my dad to help me get them done

The school was loved though!

whoneedstosleep Tue 09-Jul-13 12:10:27

sad playmobil football is out of stock at the 3 stores near me

Chockywockydoodah Tue 09-Jul-13 12:30:03

Just picked up the huge school (DD in tow) and managed to keep it hidden from her in a large ikea bag (with the help of the kind Argos man)! Very happy with it!

notso Tue 09-Jul-13 12:30:17

It's out of stock at my 10 nearest stores whoneedstosleep, I have reserved the school for my our God daughter though.

Murtette Tue 09-Jul-13 12:46:48

I've also picked up the school. Thanks Curly. Thanks Bertha for the warning on how long it takes to build. We discovered last Xmas Eve that DP views "construction of presents" as my task & I very much viewed it as his. Luckily my brother was bored and drunk.
The lady in Argos said that this must be part of a big pre- new catalogue clearance & to keep an eye on the website as more things are likely to be added.
I'm tempted to set up a HotUKDeals alert on Playmibil but worry I will be powerless to resist more bargains. Dd isn't 4 yet & DS only just 1 so there are plenty of Xmases & birthdays to go.

Dysgu Tue 09-Jul-13 13:02:51

We have managed to find a Playmobil school in Winchester - is out of stock in the 10 stores nearest us. DP can go get it after work (bus and train and then return journey to boat to get home). DDs are 6 and 4 and will be 7 and 5 at Christmas. We don't have any playmobil stuff so - is it worth him making the journey?

MooseyMoo Tue 09-Jul-13 13:11:56

Monsoon sale has started. I got DD two necklace and bracelet sets for her dress up box (and to leave my jewellery alone!) for £2 each

and a dress for me

Oreocrumbs Tue 09-Jul-13 20:35:32

Ooh lovely, another present in hand, I've bought the polar express.

I've missed a couple of good bargains today. Amazon dropped the innotab to £42 and a ceramic gruffalo dinner set to £7.50.

I was alerted by camelcamel but I was sunbathing and didn't act on it, and when I've come to buy them now they have shot up in price. The moral of the story is, if you are using camel and get an alert, buy it then!

Also if you are on O2, you can get O2 priorities app, that gives you discounts online and instore. I got £20 off a £200 spend in pc world the other day, and it searches for stores near you and tells you if they have any deals on. They have free chocolate from WH Smith at the minute too!

So a handy little app if you can get it.

olivo Tue 09-Jul-13 20:57:33

Polar express is all sold out at £2hmm

Chockywockydoodah Tue 09-Jul-13 21:15:41

The Boots "when its gone" bit also has the Ben & Holly Magical Castle playset half price at £17.99. Just bought it for DD. Now have to decide when to give it to her. A bit expensive for a random present but its 3 months until her b'day.

Anyone planning a Christmas Eve hamper? Just seen these Polar Pal mugs at Baker Ross

WaitingForMe Wed 10-Jul-13 11:16:04

Just received my DotCom parcel and am thrilled to bits.

So tempting to buy Playmobil but DS will only be 13mths old!

sameoldIggi Wed 10-Jul-13 11:18:14

Love that space no stuff.
Really fed up with Argos, how can you claim something is for sale when it is impossible to reserve it basically anywhere? (Have tried stores in England, Scotland and N.Ireland for the playmobil football stuff.) wish it would just tell you where it actually was in stock!

LaTrucha Wed 10-Jul-13 11:48:40

phone them

Chockywockydoodah Wed 10-Jul-13 11:53:47

The cheap playmobil stuff we are seeing is discontinued lines from what I can tell, so once stock is gone its gone (and some stores may well have sold out months ago). Just out of curiosity, I tried a number of postcodes for the football set and it came up with nothing either so they must be very scarce.

PoppyWearer Wed 10-Jul-13 13:01:30

Further to Moosey's post about Baker Ross, I've just had a quick look at their website and they seem to have a lot of Christmassy bits in their clearance sale.

I am going to resist as I have a box full of Christmassy crafty stuff up in the loft, but there look to be some good prices there!

PoppyWearer Wed 10-Jul-13 13:02:40

I've been lurking on this thread for ages and finally have something to contribute... 20% off at The Works with code SUMMER ends midnight tomorrow.

I just bought 2 pillow pets at £7.99 each (with discount), Paper Jamz guitar at £10.39 and Paper Jamz pro amp and microphone at £7.99. Postage initially came up as £2.99, but when I paid via the Paypal checkout it didn't charge me. So a bargainous £34.47 for the lot, delivered grin

Topcashback are offering a mahoosive 20.2% cashback so, if that tracks ok, that'll be nearly £7 in cashback.

I also spotted this BRIO rocking horse at £19.99 (£15.99 with discount) which like it would make a good gift for younger children.

LaTrucha Wed 10-Jul-13 14:36:46

Ooo 20% cashback...thanks...

RobinBedRest Wed 10-Jul-13 16:25:55

Anyone with a Lego Chima fan (or many boy's party presents to buy) may be interested in this on Amazon - half price Boulder Bowling. Smaller reductions on other Chima items too so worth a browse.

Hello everyone been keenly lurking on this thread, tis fab.

My contribution is half price dress up outfits spiderman and batman at sainsburys £7.50 from £15 so I got one of each.
Sizes are 3/4 yrs, 5/6yrs, and 7/8 years.

knackeredmother Wed 10-Jul-13 17:15:19

Fortnum and Mason have some nice bits in their sale. I got some half price shortbread in a nice presentation tin (£6.45), in date until May next year. Good for teachers, grandparents etc.

JaquelineHyde Wed 10-Jul-13 17:50:40

I just went to order some of the shortbread biscuits and a box of peppermint creams from Fortnum and Mason which look lovely. However, the delivery charge is £6.95 minimum shock so not really a big bargain unfortunately.

MooseyMoo Wed 10-Jul-13 17:59:05

Thanks for the fancy dress tip wornout. There's not much in my DD's size online, but I'll keep an eye out next time I get the groceries as I have a DD who'd love one of their Ariel costumes.

Jacqueline, when I went to order it brought up different delivery slots and some were cheaper. I don't thin I paid that much. I did order about 10 boxes of biscuits for various people so worth it for me.

JaquelineHyde Wed 10-Jul-13 21:16:46

I had 3 boxes of shortbread and 1 box of peppermint creams (for me grin ) and I was offered £6.95 for normal delivery on a week day and £12 for delivery on a Saturday.

Definitely worth it if you ordered a lot though. I would have just ended up eating it all anyway grin blush

zipzap Thu 11-Jul-13 22:07:18

The Disney store sale has added more stuff in and knocked some prices even further down - got a Minnie mouse rucksack for £2.99 instead of £10 and a Jake and neverland pirates one for £3.99 (the latter in oilcloth so quite rugged, Minnie was in Tshirt jersey fabric with a nylon lining, not very practical as a school bag but fab as a play bag for at home). They also had some half price pants sets and a nice big picture story book of Brave for £3 instead of £10.

ColourfulColour Thu 11-Jul-13 22:27:46

Polarn O. Pyret sale has some good discounts. Toddler t-shirts for 3 or 4 quid and cute things for babies.

Oh and I looked at the Argos playmobil football field for ds1 back in early April - out of stock everywhere then too and hasn't come back in despite using the notify me when back in service. And checking out in lots of places around the country as dh has lots of siblings that we could have pressedinto service to pick it up.

On a brighter note, has anyone mentioned the playmobil house at The Entertainer/www.thetoyshop.co.uk (or is it .com?) anyhow it's down from well over a hundred to about £50.

JaquelineHyde Fri 12-Jul-13 08:17:12

Just found this on the Entertainer site...

Paper Jamz Bargain

Guitar, Amp, Microphone and Gig Bag was £104.99 now down to £29.99!

Oreocrumbs Fri 12-Jul-13 08:18:32

I was in an entertainer shop the other day and noticed a few good deals. Sadly I can't remember most of them!

Craft jar £5

There were lots of Hama sets reduced too, but I can't find them online so probably the stores selling old stock. I was at the Metrocentre and they had loads.

Lalaloopsey had some deals on, Sew cute I really thought in store this was priced at £13 - but it is showing online at £15.

Anyway perhaps it is worth a rummage if you have a store near by.

JaquelineHyde Fri 12-Jul-13 08:23:44

Just tried to buy the Playmobil house and it is showing as not available for any kind of delivery sad

Oreocrumbs Fri 12-Jul-13 08:34:24

Oh no, do you have any shops near you? If so give them a ring and ask them if they have it in.

Hope it's not and Argos type swixx hmm

Oreocrumbs Fri 12-Jul-13 08:35:00

SWIZZ not swixx.

JaquelineHyde Fri 12-Jul-13 09:25:48

It is out of stock for collection in store as well, so I am afraid it does look like another Swizz!

I have ordered the Paper Jamz stuff though, I might give that to DS1 for his birthday in November.

Shall we each do a list of what we have ordered so far thanks to the bargain threads?

dandelionsRflowers Fri 12-Jul-13 09:41:42

The Playmobil school has been reduced to this price a few times in the past couple of months. It's probably been on sale more than it is full price so keep checking it!

MrsBungle Fri 12-Jul-13 10:04:21

I loved this thread last year. Lots to look at. I've ordered the playmobil school for dd. if I find any bargains I'll post them.

HappyAsEyeAm Fri 12-Jul-13 10:54:43

I have tried, but my resistance was in vain. Have succumbed and bought the playmobil school from argos. I said to myself this morning when I went shopping that if it was in stock, it was a sign for me to buy it. And there was one left. £39.99 well spent. I want to play with it with DS now though!

Stocking fillers - decent size bottles of bubbles for 40p and four big pots of play doh for £2 in the entertainer.

I am pondering the playmobil suburban house from the entertainer for £49.99 ...

Also looking for cheaper playmobil pirates (but not the ship, we have one of those already) if anyone knows of anything please!

LaTrucha Fri 12-Jul-13 11:11:04

Does anyone have the code for dotcomgiftshop that you get if you sign p for emails. I had it and now can't find it even in my deleted emails. Odd.

PiHigh Fri 12-Jul-13 11:14:06

Ok, Dh thinks I am totally crazy thanks to this thread but I have started the Christmas shopping. Thanks for the dotcomgiftshop link, I've made good use of that.

So far I've bought:
Most of the Dc's stocking stuff
A couple of books for DD1 (not sure if they were a bargain but they were ones I wanted for her that I liked as a child)
Gifts for my sister, her husband, her daughter, her two sons, my two cousins.

Fragrance Direct has lots of clearance stuff and normal stuff is pretty cheap too. I've got some lip gloss/nail varnish stocking fillers for the kids and some of the more difficult men presents.

BuffyFairy Fri 12-Jul-13 21:01:44

Oreo, thanks for the earrings link. Perfect for stockings.

Trazzle, picked up the IgglePiggle yesterday, DD will love it. Have you got it?

My local Sainsburys didn't have any dressing up stuff on offer. They did have some pretend play stuff in clearance with 25% off. Mine had the tea set, the laundry set and the microwave. Bought DD the tea set for her birthday but forgot to put it away last night. She was do excited when she saw it this morning I had to open it for her. Duh!

Was someone after a Baby Annabel? The Entertainer had this one for £20 instead of £30.

They had this Disney Ariel Doll half price Ariel and all Chuggington stuff on offer, lots of it half price.

Trazzletoes Fri 12-Jul-13 21:21:07

Ooh good tip, thanks Buffy! DS loves chugging ton so I may well have a sneaky peek!

No I don't have the IgglePiggle. DS not as obsessed by ITNG as he once was, and I'm not really sure of DD's feelings about it - though am hoping to take them both to ITNG live regardless!!!!

MooseyMoo Sun 14-Jul-13 19:42:02

Thanks for the tips about the leapfrog house, got it using one of the mother are codes (ignoring fact that is cheaper on amazon now!)
Have wasted much time tonight looking for a pop up tent for ds1 - the usual argos "we sell lots of stuff but none of it is in stock anywhere in the world" hassle. So Halfords it is.
Need to check my mail to see if I can find any codes to offer in return smile

MooseyMoo Mon 15-Jul-13 09:31:16

H&M have a free delivery code 0549 valid until 28th July.

They also have a £5 off code 1304 the minimum spend is £6, so you need to spend £11 so the £5 code will work.

There's still some sale items. Just bought £28 for £13 smile

Chockywockydoodah Mon 15-Jul-13 10:11:28

Moosey Be warned that H&M delivery is incredibly slow. I ordered items a month ago (having paid delivery charges) and they are only just being despatched today!! The items have to be released from their Swedish distribution hub. I phoned and asked them to waive the delivery fee for the delay, they did, but only reluctantly when they saw how I had stacked discount codes on the checkout invoice! blush

Thanks for warning the chocky

I posted a code for jojo maman earlier that I used on the micro scooter.
I have said I'll buy my godson one but that code is no longer working.

If anyone gets another jojo code or spots a bargain on one I would be very grateful. smile

The Tassimo UK facebook page has an offer on - a T4 for £30.

https://www.facebook.com/TassimoUK/app_179219272252969

When you click on the page, you get a unique code. You have to type the code in on the 'buy now' page, not copy/paste.

moosey thanks - bought one for BIL/SIL for a joint christmas present for them. BIL has a January birthday so he will be getting some coffee tablet thingys to put in it for that. He's a massive costa fan hope SIL is too

Thank you Chockywocky, just got the inflatable globe as a stocking filler for me dd

Murtette Mon 15-Jul-13 17:46:31

The H&M code reminds me - if anyone spots a Christmassy (single) duvet set, please post on here as I'd love to get one for DD. I think H&M did one last year and it was quite cheap (which it will need to be given its only going to be used for 24 nights a year for the next 5 years or so)

FairyJen Mon 15-Jul-13 19:11:36

murtette if you look on eBay and search xmas duvet there is a nice one from next that comes up... It's like a big advent calendar. £18. Can't link as on phone smile

Sylvanian families children's room set £5.60.

For any of you planning to buy some kind of SF house (when one appears here at a good price!)

The room sets are expensive around £10-£16, so they are worth picking up when you see them on offer like this.

Oreocrumbs Mon 15-Jul-13 20:36:04

I've just bought the Tassimo - Thanks Moosey! It is for DP's my Christmas present grin.

Oreocrumbs Mon 15-Jul-13 20:43:20

Selection of Tassimo disks £11.88 Much cheaper than the costa disks, so might be worth buying to put in with the machine if it is to be a gift.

The main page is priced at £12.50 but if you look at alternative sellers there is one for £8.29 + £3.59 P+P.

I have spent an absolute fortune thanks to this thread!! The h and m one was great, got lots for my DDs. DD1 has just announced she'd like sylvanian s for her 7 th birthday next month so off to look at the amazon deals- she has a very empty house so sets would be just the job!

Thanks everyone!

BuddhaBelly Mon 15-Jul-13 21:06:29

I don't think this one has been done yet but http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/ have a brilliant sale on, I'm only on page 6 and I've got enough greetings cards to do a year! If you use topcash back you get 5.25% cashback too
