Chicken pox question. One of my DT's woke up this morning with blistery spots on his tummy, groin, bum and face. Pretty sure it is chicken pox. He seems fine with it not itching yet - does that happen later ?

What creams lotions are good to help wit irriation, itching etc ?
I have heard camomile teabags in a cool bath can help but I am otherwise clueless.
TIA Smile

I'm off to bed in 10 so night night! :)

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/08/2012 08:40

9 hours uninterrupted sleep!!! Grin Shock

Dd is looking less red again today an has been very chirpy. :) I think the AB will run out today so will hopefully keep working for a little bit longer as I'm not convinced the infection is 100% gone yet.

How are everyone else' dc today?

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 08:46

Great news when if you feel she is getting worse, just go back to GP. Hopefully the antibiotics have done their job.

Handsfullandrunningforgold · 02/08/2012 08:54

Morning Poxers Smile

It's good to see DC are getting better.

sleepytime 9 hours sleep sounds fantastic.

MissMavis how is your DS ?

We are all good here, had a settled night . Most of the spots are scabbed over - apart from a few between his toes and on his head. We may even get to go out at the weekend.

I've bought some bicarbonate of soda, how much should I add to the bath? Thanks.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/08/2012 13:24

Hands full - good news on the settled night! :)

Mavis - that's rubbish! :( ds was similar after pox tho - I think he'd it into the habit of waking at night but it didn't last too long.

Cj - just put a sprinkle in. I never measured but probably a tablespoon or two? I don't think you can go too far wrong with it. :)

Ds is at a friends and dd is napping - don't know how long for as naps have become rather unpredictable. Hmm. It's bliss! Grin

Aw Mavis doing nights single handedly is hard. Fingers crossed you get a quiet one!
Is it wrong that I'm slightly Envy of your ds' bedtime routine tonight? Grin scented bath and massage!

Dd went to bed totally normally! For the first time I over a week I was able to bath her, do her bottle and put her to bed asleep. :)
Dh has gone out but as I think we're over the worst I'm not too worried.

Dd has maybe 6 blisters left to scab. I am willing them so hard to scab overnight so I can take her and ds out anywhere tomorrow. Me and dd are suffering from cabin fever!

Hmm next time your dh tells you he needs to work away from home at least you'll know to cancel all plans and stock up on calpol!

I am really tempted to take the dc out tmrw but I can't think if anywhere deserted enough just incase dd is still infectious. At least when ds was borderline infectious we were on hols and we found a deserted rocky beach on a chilly day. Hmm
I wouldn't wish this on anyone tho so I'll be keeping dd home if she's still infectious even if it kills me

Uh oh! That doesn't sound good. How was last night Mavis? Am hoping it was the only stirring from your ds!

Dd slept through! :) but she is still blistery so it's another day at home.

And ds has his pre school jabs this afternoon. I have chocolate bribes. :)

Whenisitmysleepytime · 03/08/2012 06:47

Dd's scabs are starting to lift off from her face!

How do I minimise scarring as there are so so SO many in her lovely face! :( I've got quite used to her looking red and spotty over the last week but I don't want her to look like this forever!

Top tips please! :)

ValiumQueen · 03/08/2012 07:22

when keep the scabs as moist as possible with a nice cream, that way they will hopefully gently fall off bit by bit rather than catch and pull it all off leaving a crater. DD2 has one scar on her forehead where the queen spot was. Quite a few feint ones on her body which will go in time I am sure. I used aqueous cream.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 03/08/2012 08:57

Thanks Valium. :)
She is now slathered in cream (lush dream cream - recommended up thread by someone, maybe Mavis?) she protested a lot less at that than the poxclin. :)

ValiumQueen · 03/08/2012 09:08

Sounds lovely!

Oh Mavis! Shock

I'm assuming your ds is already on piriton. It does seen to limit the itch. I think I'll be stocking up on wheatgerm oil. Dd has so many spots on her face and neck (and everywhere else). She is still my gorgeous girl and I know it'll heal in time but I've just read the thread on here on CP scarring and it thoroughly depressed me. :(

Part of my issue with the scarring is one of the drs we saw at OOH, who would have known from our booking in info that it was CP, first words were "what happened?" like dd had burnt herself of something to produce such red, damaged skin. Shock

What time is your dh home Mavis?
Hand over the dc and run either straight to bed or out the house for a strong coffee and cake somewhere to keep you going till bedtime! :)

I have palmed ds off on another friend today. Blush she did offer but I feel guilty that he has spent 2 days in nursery and then the rest of the week being passed round my friends. He did want to go play and because of our holiday and his pox he hasn't seen them for ages but I feel bad. He's being a right PITA and I know it's because dd has used up all of my energy and attention for the last week. Am hoping with dh being home at the weekend he will get more attention and will revert to his normal happy self.

I have been sudocrem-ing the blisters but they are not drying up! Hmm

Hope dh is letting you rest and is sorting out everything dc related Mavis!

I've had an interesting day. I spotted a mark on dd's eyeball this afternoon do took her to dr. They weren't sure if it wa CP so said monitor it and take her to children's hospital if it worsens.
It looke worse after an hour and worse again after that, so I took her in. That was at 6.45. We're still here. Haven't seen a dr yet and after going mad dd has conked out asleep.

Have no idea how long we will be here but I am bored and stressed so posting to keep me busy. My phone battery is not great tho.
