Childbirth

How far along where you when you had your first?

I'm 29+3 with my first child and keep getting told I'm more likely to go overdue. I'd rather not, as I'd really prefer not to be induced. I was just wondering what sorts of stages people on here were at when they went into labour with their first?

40+6. Went into labour naturally a few hours before I was due to have a sweep. I was in slow labour for nearly 24 hours though.

39+1 with DS - had stopped work at 38 weeks assuming I'd go over so was slightly peeved he came "early"

Stopping at 34 weeks with number 2 - who will no doubt then be late!

40+14 with DC1.

40+13 with DC2.

Both induced (DC1 with the drip, DC2 by ARM). It was fine.

This time around I have no idea. I'm 27+2 and the moment and been warned that I could go into preterm labour at any time. I have a scan booked for 36 weeks when they'll tell me if I have to have a CS or not. So no idea what'll happen!

40 + 0 with DS1 - first time a male in our family has ever been on time for anything.

38 weeks with DS2

Good to see so many people having positive experiences of inductions on here though.

Induced at 39+2. I doubt I would have lasted much longer as it didn't take much to induce me at all.

Another positive induction experience here.

Went into labour at 4am on 39+2 for DD and 7am on 39+2 for ds.

Nice to be consistent!

41 weeks with DD2!

Induced at 40+12, DS arrived at 40+13 by EMCS.
In hindsight I should have refused induction for a further few days but by then I was desperate to get him out

Induced at 40+3 due to pre-eclampsia; DD born early hours of 40+4.

Were I to be induced again I'd outright refuse ARM; it hurt like nothing I can describe and did absolutely bugger all.

(interestingly, DD was the only baby in our NCT group of 6 who was 'late'! All firstborns - all the others were spontaneous labour and were either early or on due date)

Went into labour at 38 + 6, induced at 39w for gestational diabetes and DS born at 39 + 1.

I'd probably refuse induction for a little longer next time as long as placenta/growth scans are all okay.

Spontaneous labour at 36+4

I was thinking of refusing induction up to 42+4 as long as scans etc good (expectant management)

Report
duchesse · 08/10/2013 10:51

Spontaneous labour at 40 + 10 days with DS.

Spontaneous labour at 40 + 11 DD1

Spontataneous labour at 40 + 13 with DD2

Crash CS after failed induction at 40 + 14 with DD3 (but there were other complications that meant she'd never have been born vaginally)

42 weeks. Was induced and it really wasn't too bad. I was just relieved that the baby was actually going to be born at last. Those last two weeks were the longest of my life.

im jealous of all these spontaneous labours at 38 and 39 weeks, mine have all been late except for ds2 who was 2 weeks early,it was lovely!

37+2 DC1
37+2 DC2

Both times waters broke and labour began spontaneously, both children weighed the same. With DC2 I went for an antenatal appointment at 5pm on the day I went into labour and the consultant said the baby wouldn't arrive for at least another 10 days. By 9pm I was in labour and saw the same consultant when I returned to the hospital! The baby arrived at 1am after a four hour labour.
