Hello, my name is Molly, I’m 29, 5ft4 and 13 stone 5. I started nutracheck calorie counting yesterday and wanted to start a support thread for those starting their journey now/ 2023.

My weigh day is Thursday but i sneakily took a peek this morning at the Christmas damage 😭🥹.

Anyone else wanting to join? All welcome!

@FerreroRocherAreAmazing so sorry to hear about your Mum. Not easy news to deal with.

Everyone is doing so well!

It’s testament to my non existent social life that it’s my pyjamas I am noticing feeling looser rather than me clothes but I am pleased all the same.

Can’t believe I am almost half way through my third week of doing this. I think having a reasonable calorie limit of 1600 is making it a lot easier than trying to stick to something much lower.

@jamrolypolyandcustard welcome and what a fantastic loss you’ve had so far! I would love a similar loss when I weigh next week but would be happy with just 3lbs for my three weeks off effort!

Thank you so much and good luck for your weigh in!!

I have been calorie counting a few weeks now and always seem to slip back into the cycles of being bored with what I'm eating so were trying the calorie controlled meals from gousto for a couple weeks to shake it up a bit Grin

Good morning everyone,

I'm totally new to CC, I joined on Nutri-check last night after weighing myself yesterday and feeling totally disgusted with myself.

I'm 17.4 stone and 5.7'

Everything is tight and I truly hate the way look. I've always loved clothes but since being work from home and gaining about 3 stone I've totally lost my way with myself.

I've just come across this group so hoping I can join in, if that's okay?

I feel I need to start being accountable and I know having group support would really help.

Hello lovely,

I'm only just joining the group too but I'm exactly the same and need the additional group support. Smile

MzMarple · 25/01/2023 16:40

Hi, is it ok if I join ?

This is day three for me using Nutracheck. Really enjoy the app and how easy it is to use. I am 12 stone 12 pounds and 5ft 1 inch. Looking to shift three stone by Christmas.

I have set my daily calories to 1600 daily. Going to be more relaxed on Saturday and Sundays. I still have calories left over daily that I will use on the weekend.

Just hoping that I can stick it this year. I am fed up looking and feeling meh.

Lots of luck to you all

katedan · 25/01/2023 20:49

@FerreroRocherAreAmazing so sorry for the news about your mum, look after yourself.

I have been so good this week, exercised 5 times, calorie counted, I admit a few glasses of wine at the weekend but was so dissapointed to not lose this week, no gain but thought I would at least a 1lb this week. Hard not to think sod it and eat what I want. It is my period week so not sure if that is why but trying to stay motivated.

paulmccartneysbagel · 26/01/2023 07:33

Could be period @katedan

I started going to the gym and noticed I stopped losing but wonder if what I'm losing in fat I'm gaining in muscle? I am clueless just guessing!

paulmccartneysbagel · 26/01/2023 07:34

Hi @MzMarple welcome!

I've tried a few apps and Nutracheck is definitely my favourite. I like that I can check protein and fibre too.

I am struggling to get the right amount of protein. I need to rethink what I eat.

PattyBladell · 26/01/2023 09:05

@Westiegirl3 I've also just joined this week, I weight about the same as you but am a bit shorter. How much are you hoping to lose? I'm aiming for about 6 stone in total but going to focus on 1 stone at a time and see how it goes

@paulmccartneysbagel how many gs of protein do you aim for each day?

paulmccartneysbagel · 26/01/2023 14:21

@PattyBladell I worked it out on current weight x 0.8 - so 58g of protein needed per day. I'm averaging around 55g. But maybe that's because of my reduced calorie intake? I mean 55g isn't far off but it shouldn't be hard to get the right amount really.

I am eating plant based so maybe that's why. I need to rethink.

2023caloriecounter · 26/01/2023 14:34

My PT has set me at 110g!! It’s almost impossible for me.

FlipFlops4Me · 26/01/2023 14:42

@2023caloriecounter - is that of carbohydrate? It is doable, you have to make a lot of food subs though, but it can be done. I used to be on 75g back in the days when I was a lot younger, fitter and training most days.

Today I bought jeans in size 18, joggers in 16-18 and a top in 18. They all fit. Not been this size for a while. Not buying much as I'm hoping to be a 16 in about three months but in the meantime, this'll do!!

2023caloriecounter · 26/01/2023 16:20

No, protein

paulmccartneysbagel · 27/01/2023 09:50

Urgh why am I still the same weight as last week despite watching my calories all week? 😭 very frustrating. I'm hoping it's poo or water retention or something 😂

Still, 3lbs lost since I started.

Alliwantistobe · 28/01/2023 09:51

Just looked at a photo taken yesterday against a photo taken on Christmas and I can see a difference in my face! Still have a double chin but my cheeks and face are less round so at least I can see the progress.

2023caloriecounter · 28/01/2023 10:23

@paulmccartneysbagel just keep at it! It’ll all come off at some stage.

@Alliwantistobe I’m certain I notice a difference in my face too! All over actually, I feel smaller but maybe it’s wishful thinking.

I am finally doing my first weigh in on Monday since my starting weigh in. It’s not often I am wishing the weekend was already over but I’m so keen to see if I’ve lost. It’ll have been three weeks on for me and since my starting weigh in so I am hoping for a 3lbs loss. More would be lovely but I am determined to be happy with 1lb loss per week.

FlipFlops4Me · 29/01/2023 12:07

I am in size 16/18 bottoms! From a shop (not Amazon). I was in an actual shop and I fitted in the clothes without being embarrassed. I cannot tell you how much that lifts my spirits. I didn't lose much weight last week but I changed shape. Even my DH who doesn't notice anything much (as part of his general confusion following his stroke) commented.

Today my Nutribullet arrives and I can choose easily between smoothies and juices. My old blender isn't as efficient any more and I've been stuck with juices.

blackcurrantpie · 30/01/2023 08:50

Let’s get the week 3 stats out the way:

Start weight: 183.4 lbs
Current weight: 179.2 lbs
This week’s loss: 0.4 lbs
Total loss: 4.2 lbs

A bit of a disappointing week but not surprising! I’m an accountant and unsurprisingly this has been the week from hell and a “little treat you deserve it!” Has been my motto. My face has started to lose some of its bloating according to my husband (he didn’t use those words, he was much nicer!) which is a plus.

I don’t feel discouraged, just very tired. I just wish January would end.

paulmccartneysbagel · 30/01/2023 09:19

Today is January 158th, I think?

My aim for this week - eat more fibre and protein.

2023caloriecounter · 30/01/2023 09:31

Oh I posted then lost it so hopefully I’m not double posting.

Thrilled with my loss in January.

Starting weight 02/01/23 11.9
Weight today 30/01/23 11.4
Total loss for January 5lbs

Definitely glad I waited till the end of the month to weigh and will continue with the once monthly weighs now even though the temptation is definitely there to weigh more frequently.

I was aiming for 3lbs as have been food tracking for 3 weeks now but got 2lbs bonus! Am now half way to my mini target of being in the 10s by the end of March and I am so happy.

Good luck to everyone weighing today.

I really feel I can do this.

buzzing · 30/01/2023 12:52

Morning all

Am quietly hopeful about tomorrow's weigh in, which probably means I've just cursed it. My exercise has been good this past week - I've swum, done a HIIT class, run 25km & met my step target every day. Am aiming to add in an extra HIIT class this week and up my running mileage to nearer 30km.

Food however has been a bit of a nightmare... various events combined to mean that I had a heavy 3 course work lunch, an all you can eat Chinese & a MaccyDs... not all on the same day mind Grin

Some great losses have been posted, and I'm liking the non weight loss victories as well - my stomach definitely feels a little flatter - I've taken waist and hip measurements this weekend so will update those once a month I think to hopefully see progress there.

@2023caloriecounter - you have so much willpower to be able to go a month without weighing. I'm proud that I haven't sneaked one in since last Tuesday Grin

theDudesmummy · 30/01/2023 13:39

I was a bit disappointed yesterday. I have been on Nutracheck since 1 Jan and the first three weeks I lost over a kg per week. I didn't do anything differently last week, in fact my calorie balance, with exercise taken into account, was down on the previous week. My weighing day is Sunday and yesterday I'd lost only 0.4kg in the week. I was hoping to keep up the previous weight loss per week...

Mollybeth · 30/01/2023 21:58

Hello all?
Hows everyone this week?

OP posts:
FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 31/01/2023 06:43

Morning. Lost 2lb this week which im guessing is just all the extra trips to the hospital and lots more walking and stress. Hopefully everyone has had a good week x

FannythePinkFlamingo · 31/01/2023 08:40

Weighed this morning and since 3rd January I have lost 5.7lbs. It's been tough though.

I've given up bread apart from German pumpernickel, potatoes, pasta and rice which all used to be staples for me. I do feel better, I'm not starving by 10am as I used to be if I eaten toast or cereal for breakfast. I've also pretty much given up sugar apart from a few berries and some dark chocolate occasionally.

I'm in surgical menopause and nothing else was working so I've decided that I have to radically change my eating habits. In my 30s I could lose 5lbs a week if I didn't drink lager at the weekend and had Ryvitas for lunch, but in my 50s that won't work any more.

I've got a villa holiday at the end of June with some slim friends so taking a long term look, 5lbs a month equates to just over 2 stone gone which would be amazing.
