Mollybeth · 27/12/2022 21:06

Hello, my name is Molly, I’m 29, 5ft4 and 13 stone 5. I started nutracheck calorie counting yesterday and wanted to start a support thread for those starting their journey now/ 2023.

My weigh day is Thursday but i sneakily took a peek this morning at the Christmas damage 😭🥹.

Anyone else wanting to join? All welcome!

Hope it's going well for us all.

Nutracheck generally allow 1400 a day but you must do 200 calories of exercise as well. I suppose it's 1200 if you don't exercise? I'm not sure really.

I'm a happy bunny because my GP has swapped out the medicine that was causing total constipation for one that doesn't do that. Life is so much more comfortable now!

I have a reasonable breakfast and a large cooked lunch (my DH is disabled and confused, and this timing works well for him) but I don't bother after that except for my celery juice and lots of herbal tea. I do feed my DH though! It seems to work for me and I can feel that I'm changing shape slowly and the weight is coming off.

paulmccartneysbagel · 14/01/2023 15:59

@FlipFlops4Me mine gives me an allowance of 1521 (to be precise 😂) but the more exercise I do, the more my allowance increases. If that makes sense?

If I was sedentary all day it would stay at 1521. But the remaining amount adjusts according to how much exercise I've done.

FlipFlops4Me · 15/01/2023 11:03

@paulmccartneysbagel - now I have calorie envy!!

Arushofbloodtothehead · 15/01/2023 14:45

I'm an evening snacker too so try to hold back so I can have something in the evenings.

Found yesterday tough. Monday to Friday I was working and busy. Yesterday I had more time on my hands so had an omelette for breakfast which was a lot more calories than the usual slice of toast I have so felt on the back foot from there. Did manage to stay under calories though.

DM visited this morning and asked me if I have lost weight! I also got a compliment off someone else this week. Neither knew I had started trying to be good so was good to hear others seem to see a difference so soon.

FlipFlops4Me · 15/01/2023 15:58

@Arushofbloodtothehead that's wonderful! What Nutracheck calls an NSV - a Non Scale Victory. Mine is that my tummy is visibly less and I am beginning to regain a shape (other than a block or worse spherical).

Mollybeth · 15/01/2023 17:12

Hello all! How’s it going?

this week has been tough, I’ve been working lots of late nights so it’s been an easy grab where you can situation. Today I’ve survived mostly on chocolate- though I have stayed within my calories!

Even a pound I’d be happy with as that would be 6 pound in 3 weeks! But 2 would be a lovely surprise on Tuesday!

Hi everyone! Haven’t read through yet but still ticking over here. Have done well this week, been under my calorie allowance 6 days and the one day I was over I had plenty spare from the day before.

Well done those who have lost again.

I am going to try and resist the temptation to weigh tomorrow I think - it will have been a week on for me then but I just know I’ll be disheartened if I haven’t lost so I’m going to give it another week or so at least.

2023caloriecounter · 15/01/2023 21:36

@paulmccartneysbagel hello fellow 11 stone 9er! I am hoping to not be 11 stone 9 anymore though. My first mini goal is also to get under 11. Ideally before the end of March but we will see!

Arushofbloodtothehead · 16/01/2023 09:08

I am also not weighing. I dont have scales if I'm honest and know my clothes will start getting looser etc if I'm losing so will base it off that.

I used to drive myself mad watching the scales when I would lose a couple of pounds one week, then the next only half a pound even though I had been equally as good.

blackcurrantpie · 16/01/2023 10:19

Hi everyone I’m at the start of week 2 for me after a frustrating week one. I did speak to my husband about it and didn’t really get anywhere - his argument is I don’t have to eat everything which is true but the waste drives me mad! Onwards and upwards though.

Start weight: 183.4 lbs
Current weight: 181 lbs
Loss: 2.4 lbs

I can see this is a great loss, especially when we had pizza and wine on Friday, but I am a little disappointed I didn’t get that high first week water weight loss - I’d been hoping to get under 180. Just got to soldier on and keep going.

I got some Cadbury Delights in my shopping this week which are sort of like the Skinny Whip nougat bars but 100 times better. I think they’re 91 calories so a great sweet treat snack.

buzzing · 16/01/2023 10:22

Morning all

I'm still here and catching up on everyone's posts. We are all doing so well!

I've had a bit of an up and down week - the exercise side is going great, I made a commitment to hit my step count every day and haven't missed one yet in 2023. My target is only 7,500 as I wanted it to be achievable each day, but I do usually average 10,000 per day over the course of a week.

Food has been quite up and down - I need to realise that I'm not cheating the system by not telling Nutracheck what I've really been eating 😬😆

And my period started yesterday having been threatening to arrive for the three days prior, so I'm not expecting a lot out of tomorrow.

On the upside, I had a glorious spa day on Saturday and feel like a new woman 💆

2023caloriecounter · 16/01/2023 10:33

I am hoping I can wait until 20th Feb to weigh to give myself a good chance. This means I’m roughly half way to the end of March which will let me see if I am on track for my mini target of 10lbs by end of March.

Hi! March sounds like a good target.

I have to resist the urge to weigh myself every morning. It is not useful. Is there a particular day that everyone weighs in? If not then I think I'll perhaps do Fridays.

Well done to everyone here.

Well, bugger me, I've only gone and joined the gym. I want to do couch to 5k and find running on a treadmill a lot easier than outside, I find I can properly switch my brain off and zone out, if you know what I mean. And for £20 a month it's worth it.

I also wanted to learn how to lift weights but felt very self conscious and exited as soon as my run finished. And when I say run, I mean a very light jog that is only slightly faster than walking 😂

buzzing · 16/01/2023 11:03

@2023caloriecounter @paulmccartneysbagel - I'm also an 11st 9er, can I join your club?!

Well done on the gym Paul, I'm the opposite in that I find that time slows to that of a sloth as soon as I step on a treadmill, but put me outside and I can run for hours (ish!). I started bootcamp classes last year which involves some weights and I can definitely see the difference in my arms. Do they do a 1-2-1 session so you can get to grips with what you should be doing? And sod everyone else - we're all on our own journey!

paulmccartneysbagel · 16/01/2023 11:13

Hi @buzzing ! Yeah join the 11 stone 9er club!

They will happily do an induction if I actually book it 😂 DH is a member so will show me next time. I know no one else cares and it's all in my head! There is a real mix of people there which I like.

CactusPricks · 16/01/2023 11:15

Hi all, 6lbs off this week! Been going to the gym more so I think that's helped. Let's see what this week brings. Good luck every one Smile

Mollybeth · 16/01/2023 21:19

Hello all! Brilliant to see how you’ve all been getting on! I won’t be weighing tomorrow as I’ve been in hospital with a kidney infection and have been deliciously plumped with lots of fluid so going to wait a few days (probably until next weigh in) to see if this goes down!

wishing those weighing in tomorrow good luck and also a well done to those who already lost this week!

buzzing · 17/01/2023 07:07

Went to weigh in this morning - battery in the scales has gone 😠still, gives me another day to recover from period / eating.

still hitting my step count every day even though it did mean jumping out of bed at 11pm last night when I realised I was 40 steps short. My husband thinks I’m an idiot 😂

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 17/01/2023 07:11

Hi Everyone! Another 1lb off. Still doing my walking and fitness marshall. I also am doing a challenge by Sharona's Hill. She's so smiley in her videos and really motivating!

Good luck everyone this week and we'll done@TinkysWinky on your loss this week. Brilliant!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 17/01/2023 07:23

A disappointing second weigh in for me. Despite averaging 1250 calories a day for the week I've stayed the same. This always happens to me - weight loss is negligible for weeks and weeks and then I give up.

I'm surgically menopausal which doesn't help I'm sure but it's just so annoying. I've low carbed too which has been tough. Got to keep in the mindset though as otherwise I'll throw in the towel.

paulmccartneysbagel · 17/01/2023 09:13

That sucks @FannythePinkFlamingo . It is hard to keep the motivation when this happens.

I always tell myself that even if I don't see a lot of difference I am still looking after my body better than I was before, which can only be a positive thing.

buzzing · 17/01/2023 11:10

Just what Paul said @FannythePinkFlamingo - maybe do some measurements as well as they could be changing even if the scales aren't playing ball. I saw that Nutracheck has the option to add in and track various measurements which is a great idea... I must do this myself too.

Sorry to hear you've not been well @Mollybeth, you must surely be due a stroke of luck soon. Flowers

FannythePinkFlamingo · 17/01/2023 13:08

Thanks. I've added waist, hip and boob measurements to NutraCheck now too. I definitely feel thinner even if the scales aren't being kind!

Arushofbloodtothehead · 17/01/2023 14:33

Well done everyone on your losses.

Thats exactly the reason I have decided not to weigh this time @FannythePinkFlamingo, it can be so disheartening when I'm so good but my body decides it wants to retain water on certain weeks of the month.

2023caloriecounter · 17/01/2023 20:07

Please all keep in mind it’s a 3500 deficit to lose just one pound.
