Mollybeth · 27/12/2022 21:06

Hello, my name is Molly, I’m 29, 5ft4 and 13 stone 5. I started nutracheck calorie counting yesterday and wanted to start a support thread for those starting their journey now/ 2023.

My weigh day is Thursday but i sneakily took a peek this morning at the Christmas damage 😭🥹.

Anyone else wanting to join? All welcome!

I've dug out the treadmill today and managed a 3 mile walk in between emails and calls. Half my problem is that I do a desk job with two days a week at home and the other three in the office. I sit at my desk all day at home and the office is in the middle of nowhere so I have to drive and once there, there's nowhere to go especially when it's cold and wet. Hopefully burning a few extra calories through some activity will get the scales moving.

Dottydoodoo · 18/01/2023 09:29

Hope you feel better soon @Mollybeth

I was disappointed yesterday as I had only lost 0.1 kg. I gave myself a pep talk, it's still a loss not a gain etc etc. And then today my period has arrived. So I think that may be the culprit!

I'm keen to start measuring too as despite my weight not hugely changing I feel slimmer. I'm going to dig out my tape measure and investigate where to input the measurements on nutracheck!

buzzing · 18/01/2023 12:38

New batteries in the scales and …. Absolutely no change in weight whatsoever Grin

I am still on the tail end of my period so taking the positives, and will be doing my measurements later too as I do feel better even if the scales need to play catch up.

And, as others have said, it’s not a gain so that, in itself, is something of a loss Wink

katedan · 18/01/2023 14:21

Woohoo 3lbs lost this week in first weigh in, I know it will slow down but pleased with my first weigh in ( day 13 of the plan)

Arushofbloodtothehead · 18/01/2023 15:49

What are your favourite dinners? I'm running out of ideas already.

I love having tofu and veg noodles. You just have to be careful how much oil you use.

Tofu is a nice low fat protein and you can marinate and flavour it however you like!

paulmccartneysbagel · 18/01/2023 16:20

What else have I had recently?

I actually had a roast dinner last night. I would usually cook the potatoes in gallons of oil (!) but last night used spray oil instead. They came out pretty good! Cooked chicken breast for the kids but had a vegan chicken roast which was HORRIBLE 😂

Chickpea curry

'Chorizo' pasta using vegan sausages. Had spinach and red peppers in it, came in at 524 calories for a decent sized portion.

I find I can still do burger night but have to tweak mine. - eg no cheese, no bun. An oven baked or grilled burger rather than fried. Lots of salad.

Arushofbloodtothehead · 18/01/2023 19:47

Thanks for the ideas 🙂

Ran out of bagels earlier which have been my evening snack. Instead of falling off the wagon I decided to go to the shop to get some and crashed on the way back 😡we're not hurt luckily but those have turned into some very expensive bagels with the repair needed to the car 😣

Mind if I join?

Downloaded Nutracheck on the 4th January to start my calorie counting journey again! I lost over a stone in 2021 / 2022 using my fitness pal but needed something new to help me get started again.

I started 4th Jan at 10.4lb and I'm now 10.1lb so 3lb down so far. My goal weight is 9.7lb to where I was in 2021!

I'm sticking to calories 99% in the week but weekends I really mess up with take aways, wine... any helpful tips to stay better on track over the weekend?

i'm also gymming 2-3 times a week, little bit of cardio and some weights.

2023caloriecounter · 19/01/2023 11:57

@RosieLemonadeAndSugar this maybe isn’t advisable but for a day where I want a takeaway I just don’t eat much else during the day or try and have very low calorie things so that I can still have my takeaway. Some people will maybe save a few calories from other days to ‘spend’ on a Saturday. Weekends are definitely the hardest. I feel you!

That's not a bad idea, have really low calories all day to allow extras for my takeaway.

I may try and fast until lunch time and then low calorie lunch, ready for my takeaway! It can't be that bad for you once a week!

My problem is I end up having bad food all weekend so its not just one meal! Defo need to keep that in check!

paulmccartneysbagel · 19/01/2023 14:47

I got a Nando's for lunch last weekend and just had soup for dinner. It balanced out 👍🏻

FlipFlops4Me · 20/01/2023 09:35

Weighed in this morning and another 3lbs gone - that's 10lbs since 1st January. Yippee. Only another 3st 8lbs to go.

I'm using the exercise bike for an hour a day split into two halves, and every week the resistance goes up one notch. Sooner or later I'll hit my limit for resistance but the exercise is doing my blood pressure the world of good.

Did you know every kilo lost drops high blood pressure by 1 point? By the end of this year my doctor says he hopes I can be off meds for high bp if I lose all the weight, keep exercising and eat tons of veg. That would be absolutely brilliant!

paulmccartneysbagel · 20/01/2023 13:23

That's fantastic @FlipFlops4Me ! Well done 👏

I am 11st 8 this morning so one whole pound lost. A good start!

I've just finished week 1 of Couch 2 5k and am feeling great from it.

2023caloriecounter · 21/01/2023 14:52

Well done everyone!

I had a planned takeaway last night and just looking at what it’s done to my calorie deficit for the week is horrible so am going to try really hard today to just have one meal to get me some extra spare calories to make up for it. I am so set on a 3500 per week deficit so really want to pull it back for this week.

FlipFlops4Me · 22/01/2023 16:19

I'm following an 18:6 eating plan. I'm having a 500 cal breakfast, a 700 cal lunch with 200 leftover for fruit, celery juice etc. In practice I eat between 9.00 and 3.00 and don't bother again after that until the next day, except for the celery juice.

It's not for everyone but it suits me really well and I'm definitely dropping the blubber every week.

blackcurrantpie · 23/01/2023 09:09

Well done FlipFlops you’ve been doing great. It’s a real inspiration. I’m interested in intermittent fasting but not sure it would fit in with my current lifestyle.

On to week 3 for me!
Start weight: 183.4 lbs
Current weight: 179.6 lbs
This week’s loss: 1.4 lbs
Total loss: 3.8 lbs

Pleased to be back under 180 even if it’s just a smidge and it was a pleasant surprise to lose anything at all with the amount of mini eggs I ate last week (I know I know it’s January but I couldn’t resist!). I’ve been flagging on my water intake so need to try and up that this week.

CactusPricks · 23/01/2023 12:22

I maintained this week, just happy it's not a gain! Well done everyone!

paulmccartneysbagel · 23/01/2023 17:38

I've eaten so much potato today. had a very hefty jacket potato for lunch and shepherds pie for dinner. 122 calories remaining so should make it through until bedtime within my target limit.

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 24/01/2023 06:44

Weighed in today and lost 1lb so a 3lb loss. Wasn't too sure how this week would turn out as got some devastating news on Thursday about Mum. Her cancer is back and is terminal. So have been eating what I want but not as much as just couldn't eat. I will try to stick to my deficit or just actually eat my calories as I'm just not hungry.
Good luck everyone this week and we'll done on the losses

Mollybeth · 24/01/2023 09:15

Hello you lovely lot,

I weighed this morning in at 12:13, so I’m down 7 pounds in 4 weeks. A bit slower than I hoped but the past week I’ve been far from perfect so it’s probably rightly deserved! Just relieved to finally see that 12 on the scale!

Well done to everyone that’s sticking at it, I know first hand that it can be sooo hard however even a pound is a shift in the right direction!

buzzing · 24/01/2023 20:56

Just checking in … everyone is doing fabulously despite some challenging and horrible situations, well done.

I weighed in at a gain of 0.4lb this week, which is actually a bit of a result given that I haven’t tracked, or run, I’ve had a rotten sore throat, and I found another box of Christmas stollen that I didn’t know we had so I ate it 🙊

Onwards and upwards, back to tracking this week but 3 course work lunch out today won’t have helped. Skipping dinner tonight so it all balances out in the end.

Have a good week all!

jamrolypolyandcustard · 24/01/2023 21:50

Can I join please? Been doing CC around 3 weeks now with a loss of 9lb so far x
