Hello, my name is Molly, I’m 29, 5ft4 and 13 stone 5. I started nutracheck calorie counting yesterday and wanted to start a support thread for those starting their journey now/ 2023.

My weigh day is Thursday but i sneakily took a peek this morning at the Christmas damage 😭🥹.

Anyone else wanting to join? All welcome!

I'm sorry to hear about your breakup @Mollybeth it's a kick in the teeth and it can't be easy.

I'm doing ok thank you! I have been on nights this week which has thrown my tracking off a bit, and I have majorly craved sugar today after last nights shift 😩 but I'm still hopeful for tomorrow's weigh in. And if it's not so good at least I will know where I have gone wrong! I've enjoyed being back into the tracking and doing more exercise and feel better for it, so I am feeling positive for the week ahead.

Well done everyone on your losses, there are some amazing losses on here for the first week!

Omg I'm sorry everyone 🙈 I was having trouble posting I didn't mean to send that three times 😂

buzzing · 09/01/2023 22:36

Am quite excited to weigh in tomorrow, have been fairly healthy this week while still eating up the Christmas leftovers. I swam today for the first time in 6 months and loved it so hoping to make that a weekly thing going forward.

Good luck for the morning all!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 10/01/2023 06:57

First weigh in and I've lost 3.3lbs. Happy with that.

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 10/01/2023 07:03

Sorry to hear about your break up @Mollybeth . Massive virtual hugs to you.

First week loss was 1lb so down to 11st 3. Well done @FannythePinkFlamingo that's brilliant. X

buzzing · 10/01/2023 07:07

2.2lb lost. I’ll be honest, I had hoped for more but I’ve had that feeling in the past and have consoled myself in a box of chocolates so am looking at it positively.

Another poster talked about mini targets for the week which I thought was a great idea. Definitely going to try and increase my protein and have two days this week when I don’t have anything sweet at all.

Mollybeth · 10/01/2023 07:20

Morning all! I’m 13st 1 this week so that’s a loss of 3 pound! 5 pounds in 2 weeks! I am still on my period…well it’s the final day so hoping that’s still having even a little impact!

Well done to everyone today and this week. I mean anything in the right direction is a win isn’t it?

Well done on the losses!!

I wont weigh until next week due to only starting tracking this week.

Hope you don’t mind if I share something that’s useful to me. I use a spreadsheet where I input daily my calories eaten in one column and my calories burned (I take this from my watch but you can use an online calculator) in another and this lets me work out my daily and weekly deficit. Because I know I need a deficit of 3500 to lose 1lb it helps me to actually see it all in black and white rather than just thinking ‘I’ve been good why have I only lost 1lb’ - when probably 1lb is exactly right. The numbers help for me.

2023caloriecounter · 10/01/2023 07:42

Ps I finished the day on 1546 yesterday so within target.

Dottydoodoo · 10/01/2023 08:37

Well done on the losses!

I am 1.5 pounds lighter this morning 😃 which I'm very happy with after my night shift biscuit binge. I'm feeling very motivated now after seeing a loss so hopefully this will be a good week!

Jackster22 · 10/01/2023 11:06

Well done everyone - a loss is a loss - I have just been to asda and picked up some Cadbury’s bars their new and only 97 calories so hopefully will curb my chocolate fix and like to have a snack after tea

Babalish · 10/01/2023 11:41

Well done on all the losses guys!

I have lost 4.25 lbs this week, current weight is 13st 8.75. I don't expect weight loss to usually be this high, a lot will be water weight after Christmas indulgence. Hoping to lose another 2 next week.

katedan · 10/01/2023 12:27

Well done on the losses. After putting it off for a week I got on the scales this morning for the first time since Nov and I am 10st 11 which is the biggest I have ever been. I am 5ft 4. This is after a week calorie counting. This makes my BMI overweight so I am gutted. Now hoping for losses each week!

Cocoaone · 10/01/2023 18:04

Well done everyone - inspiring losses!

I only lost 1lb but given my week, that's a positive and I'm happy.

Goingtobee · 10/01/2023 21:31

Hi all, sorry to hear you’ve had such a tough start to the year @Mollybeth, hope you feel brighter soon and thanks for starting the thread.
First weigh in for me this morning - just over a pound and a half which I’m pleased with - also an inch and a half of my waist which I’m even more pleased with! We’ve eaten really well this week and never felt ‘on a diet’ so if can carry on target may be in sight by end of May which would be amazing! Well done everyone on their losses.

2023caloriecounter · 11/01/2023 08:13

Finished up on 1004 yesterday which is about 600 under my limit. Not intentional, just a busy busy day with no time eat between meals!

FlipFlops4Me · 11/01/2023 08:49

I didn't weigh in yesterday because (and this is tmi) I really badly needed a poo but the meds I'm on make me constipated. I took some Dulcolax.

This morning's weigh in has to be an anomaly, with a bunch more water weight lost or something as I appear to have lost 5lbs in the last week! That's ridiculous.

I am doing the IF though and that does have a very real effect - I have breakfast and proper lunch (my main meal) but that's all. I just get drinks other than that. It works for me but I do realise it would be hard for others. I'm unusual in doing breakfast & lunch; most do lunch & dinner. Either way, it works for me!

blackcurrantpie · 11/01/2023 11:37

I’m frustrated with my husband - while I know he isn’t, it feels like he’s sabotaging me.

He decided for dinner last night we were having a beef curry which is fine… but it was made with coconut cream and rather than rice he made what might be the biggest naan breads I have ever seen. If I had eaten the entire portion it would have been well over 900 calories. I hate leaving food as it feels like a waste but it wasn’t a large enough portion to split into lunch too so part of it was chucked in the food recycling.

I know one large meal won’t ruin the whole week but it’s just entirely frustrating - he knows I struggle to lose weight and it feels like he’s just not considering my needs.

FlipFlops4Me · 11/01/2023 12:46

He could add half fat creme freche - it only takes a good dollop to make a dish taste creamy.

But I know what you mean. My DH used to do that by buying me chocolate which I found irresistible. In the end I told him that in future every bar he bought would go straight in the bin. He didn't believe me and it wasn't until I threw the next one out that he believed I really meant it.

Can you refuse parts of a meal - eat a small portion of the curry but leave the naan?

theDudesmummy · 12/01/2023 07:57

Hi all, I joined Nutracheck because of this thread and am finding it really really good. So thank you! I especially like the barcode reader, so handy and it just feels a little magical! Have lost 1.3kg since 1 Jan. (Goal is to lose 10kg by the summer, am turning 60 then).

The discussion of the green smoothie piqued my interest. I spend a lot of time at a desk (wfh) and i like the idea of sipping on a healthy smoothie through the morning. But I hate bananas so anything with them is out. I will eat pretty much anything else (prefer oat milk to dairy milk though). Can anyone suggest good smoothie ideas sans banana, with calorie info?

Arushofbloodtothehead · 13/01/2023 18:19

Hi All, I'd like to join you. I started on Monday and have a couple of stone to lose so starting on 1500 calories a day. Its strange though because yesterday I only had 1170 (forgot I meant to include a snack before bed) and today I still have 500 to eat, have just had my dinner and cant see how I'll manage another 500.

Came to this board cos I guess I'm wondering whats the minimum we need a day? I know if you eat too little it can slow down metabolism and wondering if thats actually been my problem all along.

snowday01 · 14/01/2023 10:04

Hey,
Welcome to everyone who has joined its great to have so much support! Well done to everyone on their losses so far. I was down 4lbs this morning since starting on 4th Jan so about 4lbs in 10 days which I'm happy with especially as I went over my calories by a couple of hundred on Wednesday. My big problem and temptation is snacking at night if anyone has any great ideas? I usually have a cup of tea with my Dh when the kids go to bed and I've been having kallo dark choc rice cake thins for 55 cals which are nice but some variety would be nice. Have a great weekend everyone

paulmccartneysbagel · 14/01/2023 10:12

Hi,

I would love to join you all if it's not too late! I've used Nutracheck before and really like it.

I'm 11st 9, would like to initially get down to 11st to be in the healthy bmi bracket. Doing dry Jan which I thought would make the pounds drop off but no change yet!

Well done everyone so far 💪🏻

TinkysWinky · 14/01/2023 10:52

Hi everyone! I haven't read through all the comments yet but welcome to everyone joining. 5lb off this week so I am delighted.

Start weight 15 stone
Current weight 12 stone 11 lb
Loss so far 2 stone 3 lb

My first target is to get to 12 stone by Easter. Hopefully doable.

I am so an evening snacker so I just save the calories for it and lean into it, but with lighter snacks e.g. snack a jacks / small chocolate bar or a Cornetto or similar - works for me
