Mollybeth · 27/12/2022 21:06

Hello, my name is Molly, I’m 29, 5ft4 and 13 stone 5. I started nutracheck calorie counting yesterday and wanted to start a support thread for those starting their journey now/ 2023.

My weigh day is Thursday but i sneakily took a peek this morning at the Christmas damage 😭🥹.

Anyone else wanting to join? All welcome!

@Katedan - if you tot your allowed calories up over a whole week, and then divide it by 7 you'll find that averaged out, your daily calories aren't too high at all. I'd suggest you eat them in healthy food, or good smoothies or something.

Having said that it's all I can do to eat my 1400 because I've upped my fruit and veg a LOT. I make a green smoothie every day and split it into morning and evening portions. It's incredibly filling!

I use 12 sticks of celery, 2 small apples, 1 medium banana, 250 ml oat milk and 250 ml water. Chop up the food, add the fluid, blitz to smooth. You get a lot but it's nice and really, really, filling!

Hi everyone, lovely to see everyone doing so well. I'm doing ok, I'm barely eating at the moment. On a pure heartbreak diet. My ex and I split after 9 years in November and he already has a new partner :( I just found out two days ago.

Normally when I'm sad I binge eat, but I can barely even stomach a cup of tea at the moment....but anyway, it'll all help the weight loss I'm sure!

@Mollybeth thats so sad, I’m sorry to hear he’s moved on so quickly I’m not surprised your finding it difficult to eat xx

Sorry to hear this, what a horrid way to end the year and sorry you are finding it hard. At least you have found a silver lining of losing weight! Look after yourself xx

katedan · 06/01/2023 18:26

@FlipFlops4Me Thank you, your smoothie sounds great.

buzzing · 07/01/2023 07:54

@mollybeth - so sorry to hear, take time to be kind to yourself and, as trite as it sounds, it will get easier. Be proud of not finding the nearest chocolate bar to wallow in.

FestivePinkFairy · 07/01/2023 19:54

Proud of myself today. Allowed myself an easy day, it is Saturday after all, which meant I could have 1900 calories. I've come in at 1250 including two glasses of red wine.

I've got the Fast 800 books so all our meals today came from there and I think because they are protein heavy, I'm full up and not hungry.

FlipFlops4Me · 08/01/2023 10:15

@mollybeth - I'm so sorry - this must be very hard for you to try and deal with.

So far so good for me - I have lost weight before with Nutracheck and then left, but luckily I didn't put any more on. I just left myself with 4st more to lose as if that was OK and we all know it's a lot to carry around. I mean - go and pick up 4st of potatoes and then try and carry it upstairs!

I'm hoping the scales will reflect my effort but if they don't, I can already see a lessening of bloat because of the veg, smoothies and juices.

TinkysWinky · 08/01/2023 21:27

Hi everyone - mind if I join? I was on the calorie counting thread last year and lost 2.5 stone, but then fell off the wagon somewhat in autumn due to work pressure and never really got back on despite intending the break to be short term! Put back on half a stone but I am still 2 stone down on my starting weight. The jeans are tight so back into it now since the new year.

Starting weight (May 22) - 15 stone
Current weight - 13 stone
Target weight - 10 stone

I really enjoy the flexibility of calorie counting. Danger time for me is evening snacking really.

I tend to weigh every few days but officially on a Friday

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your kind messages! It’s going to take time but I’m trying to pin my focus on making myself better.

This week has been ok so I’m hoping for a loss tomorrow! Even 2 pound I’d be happy with as it’ll be in the right direction!

I’ve tried to start meal planning as one of my worst things is getting to dinner and realising I only have say 400 calories left and trying to find something for under that :)

Hope you're doing okay OP.

I just want to say thank you as I got weighed today and have lost 2lb 😌 without you starting this thread I might not have been motivated to get started at all! Let alone sign up to nutracheck and get calorie counting. I know I can do better this week as some days I didn't track, plus still been finishing leftover Christmas food etc so I'm hopeful next weigh in I can do even better!!

Amazing @Rosio so glad that you are apart of this friend and have put things into motion! It’s lovely to have you!

Ah don’t worry! It’s SO hard with all the Christmas food still lingering isn’t it? I’ve found that too! However I’m sure over the next week or so you’ll start seeing/feeling the difference:

Hello! So sorry to hear about that @Mollybeth the only time I was able to not eat was during a break up, I'm usually such a comfort eater as well. Hope you're ok and get some appetite back soon.

I'm doing ok, went a few calories over on Saturday but I think over the week it should work out ok. I'm such a chocoholic that's the hard part for me and we've still got lots of Christmas goodies hanging about, need them gone! I'm looking forward to weighing in tomorrow and seeing how the first week went!

Goals for this week are to up my protein and water intake and make my main meal less carb heavy as it takes up so many cals!

blackcurrantpie · 09/01/2023 10:25

Hi everyone, I’m back on it after giving up for most of last year and it’s really showing now - I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been.

I’m 5’7, starting weight is 183.4lbs and my first goal weight is 155lbs. I’ve had great success with calorie counting before and managed to get a stone off with no exercise so hoping for a good start in January. I’m using Lose It as I found MyFitnessPal has really changed once last time. I’m aiming for 1200-1400 calories a day (more on weekends). 1200 looks low for my height but I’m sure I don’t count everything as my husband does the bulk of the cooking and never measures oil etc so I set low to account for that.

Good luck to everyone and well done to everyone who’s already had a successful first week!

katedan · 09/01/2023 11:02

I am not going to weigh myself until Wed so I would have been back on the plan for 10 days and hopefully the Christmas gain won't seem so bad!! I was amazed over the weekend that I kept within my allowed calories despite drinking alchol which I tracked. Today is a fast day so only 500 calories. I am determined that I stick to this and I drop a stone!

CactusPricks · 09/01/2023 11:14

Hi all, 5lbs off this week for me! Keep going everyone you're all doing great!

Jackster22 · 09/01/2023 12:33

Hi everyone

I lost 4lbs this week as I weigh on a Saturday, habit from slimming club - went a bit over this weekend with the odd sweet and biscuit but I’m ok about it and hopefully will even it’s self out this week; I have got healthy snacks in and started a snack box at work and back at netball tonight

FriendofDorothy · 09/01/2023 14:48

4.5lbs off for me this week - just by starting to get a grip of myself.

2023caloriecounter · 09/01/2023 15:54

Room for one more?

Have read through the thread and I am loving all of the positivity and support. It’s just what I need. @Mollybeth I’m sorry to read about your break up.

I started with a PT last week and she has set me a limit of 1600 calories per day which seems a lot when trying to lose weight but should give me a 500 deficit per day which is just what I need to be on track for a 1lb per week loss. I also have a step goal of 6000 per day (I know that’s really low compared to most but I will build it up month by month). So far I’ve hit the step goal each day in January but have only started to tackle the food side of things today as there was too much still hanging around from Christmas last week.

I know I need to up my protein so will be doing that too.

Weight last Monday was 11 stone 9. I am 5 foot 7. Would love to lose 10lbs by the end of March - that’s my mini goal then I will see where I am.

Keep at it everyone :)

Cocoaone · 09/01/2023 18:22

I'm sorrry to hear that @Mollybeth, what a kick in the teeth.

Things aren't going great here, my DM has been poorly, nothing serious but I've been there a lot helping out. I haven't had time to shop so I've been making my way through the left over Christmas food. I'll weigh tomorrow and assess the damage....

In positive news, I've been walking to her house and back, and I've managed to jump on the exercise bike a couple of times, so the exercise hasn't been too bad. That's something at least!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 09/01/2023 18:32

Hello. I've had a post-Xmas name change. I was FestivePinkFairy

I'm doing ok so far. Weigh day is tomorrow so I will see the actual proof of my effort or not then.

Today I had an Aldi Protein mousse for breakfast, salad and some Fast 800 cheese and bean mini muffin things that I made and have cooked a chilli con carne for dinner which I'll have with low carb rice. I'm less than 1000 calories today so far so may have a tiny bar of chocolate later.

Babalish · 09/01/2023 20:37

Well done, some fab losses so far!

Dottydoodoo · 09/01/2023 20:48

I'm sorry to hear about your breakup @Mollybeth it's a kick in the teeth and it can't be easy.

I'm doing ok thank you! I have been on nights this week which has thrown my tracking off a bit, and I have majorly craved sugar today after last nights shift 😩 but I'm still hopeful for tomorrow's weigh in. And if it's not so good at least I will know where I have gone wrong! I've enjoyed being back into the tracking and doing more exercise and feel better for it, so I am feeling positive for the week ahead.

Well done everyone on your losses, there are some amazing losses on here for the first week!
