Did it for a couple of months last year and found it worked well but I fell off the wagon at a stressful time when my MH went downhill. I comfort eat way too much.

I now feel massive and enough is enough!

I have set a meal plan for tomorrow and will probably follow the same basic plan for a week until I get back into it.

Need to add in some exercise too which I am not looking forward to.

Anyone else want to join me?

Can I join in? I am aiming for about 1300 calories a day, but if I'm honest, I'm struggling! What do we all eat to keep calories low?!

TinkysWinky · 24/05/2022 17:06

@Mrsmch123 that is brilliant, really inspiring losses there

I weighed in at -5lb this week although don't expect those losses every week

@ChunkyKitKat82 anything and everything really, sugar free jelly good for a treat today I had 2x alpen light bars for breakfast, soup for lunch and a mullerlight little dessert pot for 69cal, will have a chicken salad for tea... Saving my calories for a few glasses of wine and a bag of light crisps later watching TV. My limit is 1535 though I would find 1300 difficult to stick to. I have a v sweet tooth and am a snacker so prefer to reduce carbs on my main meals to leave the calories for other things

Mrsmch123 · 24/05/2022 17:44

@ChunkyKitKat82 i generally have wheatabix with a small amount of sweetener for breakfast
lunch tends to be a homemade wrap. Mini wrap with cooked chicken. I shop in tesco so have the sweet chilli and piri piri. Dinner I have chicken but just different flavours. So teriyaki, Jamaican jerk and sticky chicken with Mexican rice.
i have one take away a week.
sometimes I have a sandwich with wafer thin ham.
well done @TinkysWinky 😁

AngelicInnocent · 25/05/2022 06:59

@Mrsmch123 well done, you are doing amazing.

Welcome everyone.

I've had a better week this week. Am finally able to start walking further and doing more, it's been a long recovery but finally getting there. Also celebrating cos my size 20 jeans now fall down as I'm walking 😁 size 18 to be purchased this weekend.

ChunkyKitKat82 · 25/05/2022 13:01

@TinkysWinky @Mrsmch123 Thank you both! Good tips! This morning I had a (disappointing) omelette. The chicken and rice sounds good for lunch, we are a bit unprepared on the food front, trying to run down the fridge before we go away, but we have run out of bread which is always a positive!! Well done on your losses too x

@AngelicInnocent You're doing so well! Congratulations on things improving xx

TinkysWinky · 25/05/2022 13:16

@AngelicInnocent that is fab on the jeans!! I am also a 20 but clothes feeling a little looser now - not ready to go down a size yet though.
@ChunkyKitKat82 This morning I had peanut butter on toast (my favourite) but went with lower calorie bread and one tablespoon split between both slices, which was plenty. Just trying to make those sorts of little changes which all add up rather than drastically restricting myself. Snack a jacks instead of crisps. FYI guys a mars ice cream bar is only around 130 cal compared to far more in the real bar, same for snickers ice cream at around 175 calories. Have found ice cream based things are far less calories but still feels like a proper treat (e.g. a strawberry Cornetto is 155cal). Did I mention I have a sweet tooth 🤣

2anddone · 27/05/2022 06:52

Hi everyone you all sound like you are doing amazing this week.
My weighin day today and I have maintained again!!! Think I need to lower my calorie intake but some days I struggle to stick to that.
Went to dr in the week for my annual pill check and she congratulated me on my weight loss so far so I know I have made progress it's just bloody hard to feel like it when I keep maintaining!!!
Only got half a stone left to shift but it seems to want to stick around Hmm

AngelicInnocent · 27/05/2022 11:46

@2anddone well done on getting so far. The last bit is always the hardest to shift.

Maybe try lowering your intake on just 2 days a week and see if that gives you a little boost.

AngelicInnocent · 27/05/2022 11:52

Anyone fancy sharing their current favourite meals and treats? I'm currently very much in love with the baby jacket potatoes with garlic butter in a foil tray from Asda. Ready prepared so I can just stick them in the oven and then serve with cold meats and salad.

Favorite treat is currently the low fat ice cream range from Lidl. Really nice flavours.

Mrsmch123 · 27/05/2022 22:17

@2anddone im sure you will smash the last half a stone💪🏻@AngelicInnocent mine is sticky chicken (got the recipe from ticktok 🙈)and Mexican rice. Your potatoe sounds lovely. I need to look out for that. Also in love with pickles atm. They are low calories but I find that they fill me up. I'm a hater of veg so my meals end up really sorry looking😂and this helps bulk it out.
treat wise in a blue riband and pickled onion space raiders kinda girl. Or they little copy jammy dodgers from Aldi are decent for the calories. Aldi copy quavers are nice too.

TinkysWinky · 28/05/2022 08:14

Currently having a lot of ham & mushroom omelettes, chicken curry (mayflower Chinese sauce) over cauliflower rice to reduce carbs, fajita chicken bowl over cauli rice...

Was in lidl yesterday looking at the ready meals and ended up with a lovely turkey & ham roast dinner for 465 cal as opposed to the 'slimming' meals beside which were higher cal! (One was 716 cal!)

Pasta n sauce made up with just water (you'd never miss the milk) with added veg / ham / chicken - love the cheese and broccoli with added fresh broccoli for lunch

Snacks any crisps under 100cal and loving fibre one popcorn bars at 85 cal

AngelicInnocent · 28/05/2022 10:00

Sticky chicken and Mexican rice sounds lovely. I shall have a look for the recipe. I'm not big on veg either but I do love salad.

Will have a look at the Lidl ready meals. Would be nice to have something for busy days.

carrottopper · 29/05/2022 18:10

How many calories are you aiming for a day please?

AngelicInnocent · 30/05/2022 13:26

It's individual to everyone depending on age, height, current weight etc @carrottopper

I'm on 1650 calories per day or less, other people are on anything from 1200 to 1800.

Best way to see what you should be having is to go on a tdee calculator.

carrottopper · 30/05/2022 17:39

I’m 43 5’6” and 11 stone 8. I think I should be on 1400 to lose. Does that sound right?

AngelicInnocent · 30/05/2022 19:33

I get that to work out at 1658 calories as your basic energy requirement. Eating under that will mean you lose weight. Most people go for around 400 to 500 calories less each day so you should be aiming around 1200 calories a day.

carrottopper · 01/06/2022 18:50

I find I do really well for breakfast and lunch but about 4-5 pm I start snacking. Hubby doesn't get home until 7ish so I'm hungry and end up having chocolate, sweets and anything else I can grab whilst sorting the kids' dinner out. Any suggestions?

TinkysWinky · 02/06/2022 09:30

Would you be better eating at the same time as the kids @carrottopper? That or if you know that you snack around that time embrace it but limit it eg allow yourself 100cal - couple of snack a jacks and a sugar free jelly would add up to that... Or you could go more protein / filling eg some hard boiled eggs

I had a rough enough start to the week as was starving and only lost 0.5lb last week, but it was time of the month at the weekend which I think contributed on both counts.... Weighed again today and I've another 4lb off since Monday (must have been retaining water) which brings me to my first stone off 🤗

Starting weight 15st 0.5lb
Current weight 14st

Very encouraging to see it coming off again

AngelicInnocent · 04/06/2022 09:56

Well done @TinkysWinky. Very encouraging indeed and a stone is a huge achievement already.

@carrottopper same as tinkys said, I would plan for snacks at that time or have 4 meals a day.

carrottopper · 04/06/2022 09:57

Thanks for the suggestions.
How many calories are you on?

TinkysWinky · 04/06/2022 15:41

I'm on 1545cal I'm 5 ft 6 and sedentary office job. I do a bit of walking on beach etc but not much regular exercise

carrottopper · 04/06/2022 19:08

I'm the same @TinkysWinky. I got around that on the tdee but need to aim for 1200 as aimed below. How do you lose on that amount? I'm 5'6 also

TinkysWinky · 04/06/2022 19:46

My tdee worked out at 1950ish for maintenance so 1545 is me going below - I'm just bigger than you I'd say bear in mind I'm 14 stone

TinkysWinky · 07/06/2022 11:19

Interesting, my calories have dropped now that I've lost weight to 1488 - but my fitness Pal didn't automatically do that, I had to set it to recalculate - just in case anyone is relying on it to reassess automatically as weight goes down

2anddone · 08/06/2022 06:51

Interesting just put my stats into the tdee and I can have around 1500 calories a day and apparently lose weight!
I had a lovely bank holiday weekend which resulted in going up 2lb so trying hard to get back on it now...my mail problem is my bmi is now saying I am a healthy weight so have lost a bit of motivation but I know I am not yet where I want to be for my weight!
How was everyone else's bank holiday are you all getting on ok??
