Possibly no one is with me....but that’s fine 👍😂

I lost weight and got to my target early last year. Then lockdown hit, and I can’t stop eating. I have a stone to lose and I AM DOING IT!

I need to be accountable to someone and my poor DH must be fed up of hearing about it by now bless him. So even if I’m just talking to myself, I’m going to come back morning and night and record my food diary. I’d love it if anyone wants to join for some mutual support and encouragement though!

I’m calorie counting, on 1400 a day. I’m going to have pancakes on Tuesday but then I’m giving up chocolate and bread (including bagels etc but not wraps) for lent.
I’ve eaten my own body weight pretty much in junk today and this just cannot go on!

So there. It’s down in black and white and I’m doing it.
Please feel free to join!
:)

@BonesJones I can relate to eating whatever I wanted for years and then all finding that you can’t do that any more. Heartbreaking.

Question - why do you think you need to go lower than 1500? I know that 1200 seems to be the magic number that is bandied about but what you actually need to do is so personal.

If 1500 is significantly lower than you were previously eating and doable I’d stick with that unless you find after a few weeks you aren’t seeing any results. If you start too low not only will it be less likely that you stick with if, but you have nowhere to go when weight loss stops if you still want to lose a bit more.

sunflowertulip · 18/02/2021 09:59

Anyone else put on weight before their period? Despite still calorie counting I put on two pounds last week, has come off again now but no loss.

A snack I like is the 10 calorie jellies.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 18/02/2021 10:02

@BonesJones I agree with @BasinHaircut you should wait and see before going too low on the calories. It sounds like you're very active so if I were you you I'd try a calculator to work out the best calorie intake for you. I say this as someone who is older (cough, cough) don't make the same mistakes I've made in the past by losing weight too quickly, it goes back on too quickly as well!

sunflowertulip · 18/02/2021 10:03

@nowbringmethathorizon I thought that was a health body fat % for a woman?

middleager · 18/02/2021 10:17

Can I join in?
I'm 5ft 1, aged 48 and was 12stone at the start of the year.

I've lost 1lb a week and am now 11st 7. This is important as I've moved from obese to overweight

I record 1300 cals daily on MFP. I don't cut out any carbs etc. In fact, I eat way too many. I have a day off on Saturday. I don't go wild, but I have a takeaway.

Typical day:
Breakfast:30g cocoa pops
100ml semi skimmed milk

Lunch: Bagel with 1/4 avacado and tomato or 1tbsp Philadelphia Light and salad
Or, a wrap with salad and one single Cheddar Cheese slice.

Dinner: jacket potato, ratatouille and salad
Penguin or fruit
(500 cals)

Snack: 2 x Crumpets 1/2 tsp butter
100ml ss milk for coffee/tea

Also take vitamins.

nowbringmethathorizon · 18/02/2021 10:47

@sunflowertulip I think it's just borderline but I'm certainly no expert, I know I carry fat around my stomach though which is definitely bad!

sunflowertulip · 18/02/2021 11:51

@nowbringmethathorizon google says it's perfect for a woman, but I'm no expert either!

Cocolapew · 18/02/2021 17:08

Food diary for today:

Breakfast - porridge with syrup, coffee with sugar 280kcals
Lunch - leftover risotto, banana 550kcals
Dinner - bbq chicken, potato wedges and cheese 890kcals.

Just over 1700kcals so over by daily allowance by about 100 again, but still evening out as ok on average for the week.

Ate a bit more for dinner than I’d planned but I was hungry so I’m pleased that I’m managing to satisfy my appetite for around what I think I need to be eating.

AesopsMables · 18/02/2021 19:38

Hope you all had a good day. I had another successful one, stayed within 1200 cal range and not feeling at all deprived (ask me again tomorrow when the wine is open:))

Lunch: 373 Cals

Snack: 33 cals
Small bowl of raspberries

Dinner: 627 Cals

Plus 100 cals for milk and vitamin drink

Total: 1133

shinynewapple21 · 18/02/2021 20:04

Well I feel like I've eaten barely anything today and it was 1500-odd, although did include 2 squares of white choc, so I'll see how I go on that I think. I'm still flabbergasted how little food the calories equate to! I think I need to move away from more calorie dense foods to get more bang for my calorie buck as it were.

BonesJones · 18/02/2021 20:17

I've been reading the food logs on this thread, I could definitely do better. I skip breakfast (always do) and had courgette and mushrooms on a slice seeded toast with cream cheese, then kefir yoghurt because I was still hungry. And an Aldi spinach and ricotta cannelloni with salad for tea, plus white choc and half a cup of tea for dessert. The ready meal was quite high in calories, but I don't normally eat them so if I did a normal eve meal I think I'd have been closer to the 1200 mark. I weighed this morn and lost 3lb on yesterday but I did a TON of exercise the day before yest, plus speed walked for 3 hours so I think it was probably mostly inflamed muscle / water retention. Reality is I probably lost around 1lb.

Loopyloututu · 18/02/2021 20:25

Can I join? I need to lose about a stone. I’ve already lost 5lbs and am going to weigh in tomorrow. I’ve got a bmi of 25.5 which is overweight so need to keep at this - hoping writing down what I eat will help.
I’ve ordered some nice new summery clothes and my incentive is imagining myself feeling slim and confident when wearing them (even if it’s just doing the school run!)
Today I’ve had:
No breakfast (I’m another one who finds if I eat breakfast I then can’t stop eating - so i just don’t!)
Lunch: Greek salad (feta cheese, olives etc)with lean ham (350)
Dinner: Waitrose harissa chicken, salad, 1\3 packet Mexican microwave rice.(600)
Walkers baked crisps (109)
2 x coffee, 1 x tea, with a little semi skimmed milk, sugar free squash. (50?)
Total 1109.

I want to stick to 1200 a day with a bit extra on a Friday as a bit of a cheat day (otherwise I find I become fed up very quickly). Going to have a takeout chicken tikka with no sauce tomorrow!
Good luck everyone.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 18/02/2021 20:26

I was STARVING today and ate quite odd things:

breakfast
purition shake 100 with unsweetened soya milk 65

lunch
bowl homemade sweetcorn soup 250 (might be less)
veg sticks 100 and watercress tsatsiki 150

snack
20 hazelnuts 150
cup marigold bouillon 15 (that was brilliant pang suppressor)

dinner
poached salmon fillet 175
salad with half a mini avocado, chilli beetroot, kimchi 200
squirt of norwegian remoulade 50
small slither of dd's margarita pizza 125
3 squares 100% cocoa solids chocolate 100

750 +650 - 1400

BasinHaircut · 18/02/2021 22:56

@BonesJones unfortunately the reality is you are highly unlikely to have lost any fat at all in one day, regardless of what the scales say. From personal experience I can be 6-7lbs heavier the day after a takeaway and then back to normal 2 days later. Also around my period my weight can fluctuate by several pounds.

It’s all about the trend over time and trying not to worry about being a pound heavier one morning than you were the last. I read somewhere that women can only really compare one week in every month as so much is dependant on our menstrual cycles that trying to weigh any more frequently will always be impacted by where we are in that cycle. I though that sounded sensible, even though it’s almost impossible not to weigh more often.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 18/02/2021 23:14

I've just eaten some crisps. I was ravenous. So am over today by 250. Grr.

But it's probably a damn sight better than my intake (calories and nutrition) this time last week.

Tomorrow DH has promised everyone that we will get take out from a new hipster burger place. I'm vegetarian. Do I - 1. Not have any. 2. Have the black bean burger and leave the bread? 3. eat nothing till dinner and just have that?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 19/02/2021 07:11

@BonesJones

I'll join! Logged calories for the first time in my life yesterday. After being a skinny bean who could eat any food and not gain weight my whole life suddenly being mid30s and lockdown and I have found myself, err, a bit soft around the edges. Gained about a stone. I joined noom yesterday for the trial. I'm actually shocked at how few calories 1200 is. I must have been smashing 3500 dsily for years! I feel guilty as hell now about previously wondering why people find dieting difficult! It's barely any food ffs! I've been doing an hour or so of barre, HIIT or yoga daily for about a fortnight, but not lost anything. So calorie counting it is then! I think I had about 1500 yesterday. Going for lower today, and going to try to stick to mostly veggie meals, meat only once or twice per week.
Yep this was me, could always eat anything until I hit early 30s - it’s hard to get used to! But it’s totally doable! 💪💪

Love reading all the menus, great for inspiration!

I did ok yesterday after a few wobbles...! Couldn’t intermittent fast as I was up early and working physically and just needed food by 9am. Day looked like this:

Breakfast - cornflakes (234)

Lunch - McDonald’s cheeseburger (301) wotsits (85)

Dinner - chicken sausages and mash with loads of veg (390) Gu strawberry cheesecake (255)

Cup of tea (40)

Total - 1305

Good luck today everyone!

Enjoying all the menus! I’ve not posted mine for a couple of days but I’ve stuck to around 1300 for both days and tried to get more fruit and veg in.

I’ve been having total 5 yoghurt, banana and mixed seeds at around 12ish and then a second decent meal. Last night it was higgidy quiche Lorraine, potato wedges and a big salad. I need a big meal in the evening or I can’t sleep.

I hopped on the scales this morning and was surprised to see a lb gone. I started on Tuesday so I’m happy with that. Weight loss is usually very slow for me so I don’t mind if that’s it for a week or so.

Can’t decide whether or not to have our usual Friday night takeaway! I might suggest we do it anyway but I’ll try to restrain myself a bit.

Weekends are much harder for me to be disciplined. What’s everyone else planning to do?

PedrosPony · 19/02/2021 08:00

Morning all, hope you had a good day. I was really struggling with hunger but I still stuck to 8 hour windows. I've just totted up lunch and snacks, was 820 so need to add dinner.

Was hello fresh meal, MFP is telling me 1,000! So I'm going to check the recipe card and hope it's wrong!!

BonesJones · 19/02/2021 08:03

Shenanigans5 could you make room for the takeaway by shaving calories off your weekend budget? I know its probably a bit risky borrowing from future calories, perhaps going forward you could eat fewer calories on the Wednesday and Thursday to allow for it? And then make some sensible mini choices within that e.g. have beansprouts instead of rice for example? Or a veggie dish instead of a red meat one? That sort of thing.

BonesJones · 19/02/2021 08:17

Weighed in as same as yesterday, which is fine; my aim is fat loss and muscle/fitness gain rather than being too concerned with a number on the scale. Aiming for 1500 cal today. Just finishing this coffee and going to hit the yoga mat for 45 mins barre and a yoga with Adrienne core strength vid. Hoping to get out for a good walk today too, albeit at the pace of my heel dragging 10 year old! I usually end up carrying my youngest for a chunk of time too, the lazy swine! Might strap on some extra weight with ankle weights and pack some extra weight in my backpack for a workout boost. My welsh rural walks are very hilly so even a stroll can be a killer!

Yes that’s a really good idea, thank you. I think I might do a few days of 1200 maybe Monday to Wednesday and then make it a relatively healthy choice.

Hello. Can I join too? I have 2 stone to lose which has seemed to piled on in recent years (late 30s). I need to take control. Have lost half a stone in January but February loss isn’t looking great as I keep having a day off! Tracking 1200 on mfp and giving up chocolate for lent. Need to refocus now.
