Possibly no one is with me....but that’s fine 👍😂

I lost weight and got to my target early last year. Then lockdown hit, and I can’t stop eating. I have a stone to lose and I AM DOING IT!

I need to be accountable to someone and my poor DH must be fed up of hearing about it by now bless him. So even if I’m just talking to myself, I’m going to come back morning and night and record my food diary. I’d love it if anyone wants to join for some mutual support and encouragement though!

I’m calorie counting, on 1400 a day. I’m going to have pancakes on Tuesday but then I’m giving up chocolate and bread (including bagels etc but not wraps) for lent.
I’ve eaten my own body weight pretty much in junk today and this just cannot go on!

So there. It’s down in black and white and I’m doing it.
Please feel free to join!
:)

Teddy I’ve just ordered some sugar free jelly on my online shop to see if that helps with sugar cravings. And I know it’s not exactly ground breaking but having a bit of honey and fruit with yoghurt as a meal ticks the sweet box without it being unhealthy.

Like Cake I also enjoy hot cross buns for brunch to get a bit of a sugar hit.

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 02/03/2021 09:49

@Ewanispurple if you are hypo (underactive) you will have a slower metabolism if you are undermedicated. I measure my waist, thighs, chest. As I run I tend to drop more on the top but not so much on the bottom that I notice, hence the measuring. Plus before I became obsessed with weight, which whilst didn't end up as an eating disorder definitely bordered on one.

NapCracklePop · 02/03/2021 15:49

I am really pants at this dieting thing :(
How do I make it easier?

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2021 17:53

Flowers @NapCracklePop don’t be too hard on yourself. It is hard.

What are you doing at the moment? How many calories are you on? What are you eating?

How can we help?

NapCracklePop · 02/03/2021 18:44

Thanks @BasinHaircut i think the most difficult bit is homeschooling stress and working at the same time.
I'm short (5 foot nothing) so I'm aiming for 1400 a day but ending up at just under 1700 which is my maintence. I'm a grazer during the day so any suggestions for low cal snacks would be really helpful.

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2021 19:49

@NapCracklePop I don’t know how you have the energy to contemplate homeschooling and calorie counting at the same time.

Maybe aim for maintenance until Monday and take the time between now and then to plan out some 1400 days for when they are back at school?

I find that I can’t really snack at all or else it all goes to shit TBH. I might have a banana or a satsuma but that’s about it. If I have more to play with I’ll have nuts but they are not low calorie so looking at 200kcals for about 30g.

I have been known to eat some dry rice crispies or coco pops if I fancy something sweet. 30g is a decent sized portion and takes ages to eat Grin

I’m a crisp girl at heart though. I have to just abstain mostly as the lower cal quavers etc just don’t do it for me. I want a hand cooked kettle chip with plenty of flavour on it unfortunately.

Crackers work though, you can get some pretty low cal ones. Or flavoured rice cakes such as snack a jacks.

sparklyglitterball · 02/03/2021 20:21

Hi all, I'd like to join please I'm having 1500 calories per day. Seem to be in the swing of it now, so would be good to stay accountable here. @NapCracklePop I buy high protein rice cakes from Sainsbury's which are only 30 calories each. Nice with some peanut butter or houmous. I'm hoping to continue sticking to this plan, but realistically we have two family birthdays coming up which will involve cake, pizza, booze etc.......but will try my best to moderate a bit!

Someaddedsugar · 02/03/2021 20:21

Is there a website where I can find out my maintenance calories? I keep looking but not sure if I'm searching for the right thing!

Breakfast - Easy peeler and a coffee
Lunch - Protein bagel with Philadelphia and crisps
Dinner - Prawn, lemon and courgette pasta
Snacks - More crisps Blush, a Special K fibre bar and 6x Charbonnel et Walker truffles that I got for Christmas - not the best day for snacks!

shenanigans5 · 02/03/2021 20:23

NapCracklePop for low sugar and low fat snacks I like:
Popcorn
Rice cakes like snack a Jack caramel
French fries crisps or quavers
Bowl of berries with a squirt of cream in a can
Hot chocolate made with skimmed milk
Mini ice cream/lolly like the mini twisters
A few marshmallows

Best of luck- it’s so hard to stick to calories whilst the kids are around and out of routine.

NapCracklePop · 02/03/2021 20:41

Thanks everyone. Crisps are my downfall too and we always have them in the house because my husband has them. I'll add some snack a jacks to the shopping list.

AesopsMables · 02/03/2021 20:47

Evening all.

I've discovered Barenaked protein Noodles. They are amazing! Had them tonight with stir fry Pad Thai and they taste just like normal rice noodles but no carbs and v low calorie 👍🏽

L: chicken and Dijionaise on Protein bread 397 cals

D: chicken Pad Thai 440 cals

S: Skyr yoghurt and Kiwi fruit 180 cals

quite under today but not been that hungry?!

PutTheCakeDOWN · 03/03/2021 07:15

Morning all! Well done everyone!

@NapCracklePop I’m 5’1 and on 1400 too - it’s hard isn’t it!!
Be kind to yourself. I’ve learned that I need to let myself have frequent days off where I hit maintenance. Slow loss is better than no loss!

I had a strange one yesterday. Under target, but only because I had a sudden attack of extreme nausea and diarrhoea when I got home from work. I’m fine now which is odd, but I had the second Covid jab yesterday and apparently it’s a very common side effect of the second jab.
It was like morning sickness, I was talking to the nanny when I got home then suddenly mid sentence had to just run to the bathroom thinking I would spew. It passed after a couple of hours but at least I couldn’t have any evening snacks 😂

So yesterday:

Breakfast - sausage, beans, mushrooms and 2 hash browns (470)
Lunch - ww curry meal (312) muller corner (150) fibre one bar (86)
Dinner - apple (47) fibre one bar (90)

Total - 1155

The Covid jab saved me from the epic snack fest I’d bought on the way home..! Going to weigh now.

Mummyme87 · 03/03/2021 11:35

Another 1lb down today, 11.5lb total. I don’t know how you guys are doing so little calories! I’m doing 1800 a day, usually sits 1600-1700. My maintenance is apparently 2300 so minus 500 takes me to 1800. Also, Dan Wheeler on TikTok (so down with the kids) talks about calorie counting and says he doesn’t recommend any less than 1600 for any female!

I had crunchy but cornflakes for breakfast 🤤 love them so much

FedNlanders · 03/03/2021 11:54

Not weighing today.
Yesterday wS a good day but still unnecessary snacks but good enough.

4 kids and a manchild husband all love snacks. We have full snack cupboards :(

Mummyme87 · 03/03/2021 12:31

@FedNlanders yes also have all the snacks here aswell. What’s life without snacks

FedNlanders · 03/03/2021 12:33

I'm so used to binging this is a huge learning curve for me. I'm not stopping snacks as I will fail, but definitely limiting. Just had to munch on some carrots while watching ppe training videos for work :(

BasinHaircut · 03/03/2021 12:39

I got on the scale this morning and I weighed 12st 0lbs and change. Just over 2 weeks ago I was around 12st 5lbs and change.

I was going to try not to weigh at all for 6 weeks but curiosity got the better of me. I’m trying not to focus on the number too much because I know I could get on the scale in the morning and be a couple of pounds heavier, but I haven’t seen 12stone 0lbs in a while so I know what I’m doing is working.

I was hoping to be below 12stone before my surgery in a little under 4 weeks so I’m on track for that as long as I keep doing what I’m doing. I don’t want to change my goal to a lower one I’m just going to see where I get to by that point.

FedNlanders · 03/03/2021 12:51

Well done @BasinHaircut

Someaddedsugar · 03/03/2021 18:10

Well done @BasinHaircut.

Another bad day for snacks!

Breakfast - protein bagel with Philadelphia and a coffee
Lunch - Special K with milk
Dinner - KFC rice box
Snacks - biscotti, cup of tea, pickled onion crisps and magic stars

BasinHaircut · 03/03/2021 18:22

Thanks both.

Talking of bad snacks, I made a banana cake this afternoon and I’ve just worked out that the whole cake has 1950 calories in it Shock

I’ve cut it into 250kcal slices. I’m going to have one tomorrow for breakfast I think.

Andi2020 · 03/03/2021 18:40

Is there a calorie app
Need help on counting daily calorie

FedNlanders · 03/03/2021 18:47

My fitness pal?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 03/03/2021 19:22

Well done @BasinHaircut!!

I just don’t lose on 1600 @Mummyme87 sadly! I’m 5’1 and don’t weigh loads, but I’m still 4lbs or so over where I should be and just can’t seem to get them off...! But half a pound a week and I’ll get there 👍

Today wasn’t great but I’ve been busy and active all day and just needed it after not being well aswell.

Breakfast - hot cross bun (287)
Lunch - hot cross bun (287) 😂
Dinner - pasta bake (656)
Snacks - many. (582)

Total - 1812
