Hi, I'm a fatty and can't stand the self conscious feeling anymore. I tried sw but it's not working for me so I've downloaded mfp.

I've got about 3 stone to lose and would love a chunk off by October. Though I know it will take longer to hit target...anyone else just starting? Or just need a bit of company along the way?

Hi! I calorie count on mfp. I've lost 9lb in 6 weeks eating 1700 cals a day. I've got 2st and 1lb to lose to get back to pre baby fighting fit weight.

I lost 4 stone in a year with mfp and kept it off for two (until an inactive pregnancy). I eat most of my exercise calories and I eat up to my limit unless I know I've a big event coming up with lovely booze and food.

I was really ill when pregnant and had spd so I'm really out of exercising but I'm going back to Physio this week to see if I'm well enough to start back at the gym. Zumba is great for calorie burning :)

lifesjoys · 08/05/2017 10:25

I ate cake yesterday Blush

PastysPrincess · 08/05/2017 10:34

@lifesjoys. This is why exercise can really help.

PastysPrincess · 08/05/2017 10:35

Sorry posted too soon. If you exercise you can eat more and still lose weight.

gttia · 08/05/2017 10:58

Lost a pound this week. Still eating the wrong things, can't seem to help it Confused

I'm bubbles402 on mfp, need kicking up the bum.

Looked at my weight five years ago and I was 20lbs lighter, I need to be that weight in August on holiday and again in October for my wedding day! Must try harder...

FluffedIt · 08/05/2017 12:36

So...if we eat junk food...but stay under calories would we still lose weight...?

OP posts:
NightWanderer · 08/05/2017 13:02

Yes, you'd still lose weight but you wouldn't feel well.Healthy food is more filling too.

A1Sharon · 08/05/2017 13:20

I've lost 5lbs!
Shock

PastysPrincess · 08/05/2017 13:28

Obviously you should be eating healthy foods that fill you up; eating foods which contain added sugar aren't helpful as they will cause your blood sugar to spike and then dive which will make you crave more.

BUT in a general sense the more calories you use, the more you can eat (to a sensible degree though)

Having some treats to look forward to can be helpful. So yesterday I was over my calories by 350ish but I was 1400 under my allowance for the week so I could eat and enjoy knowing I'd earned it.

HandbagCrab · 08/05/2017 13:46

Lots of thin people just eat junk but they won't be getting the vitamins and nutrients needed to be as fit and well as they could be.

I aim to eat at least 5 fruit and veg and reasonable amounts of decent carbs and protein and some fat. I'm trying to up my calcium at the moment and eat a bit more protein so eating more dairy. I still eat far too much fun stuff though and I'm fairly sure I'm addicted to chocolate. But I'm not setting myself up to fail and I know if I replace chocolate calories with quinoa and coconut oil I'll not be able to stick to it.

FluffedIt · 08/05/2017 13:56

I was only half serious! Wink

Omg 5lb that's fab well done! Pretty sure that earns you the fluff point! What did you do that was different than normal?

Placemarking to join you tomorrow please! I've got about a stone to lose and sadly it's not happening just because I'd like it to. I know what the problem is - wine, snacking at work and takeaways as a treat to myself after a bad day. But knowing it isn't stopping me from doing it so I need to make a change and stick to it.

The tracking starts tomorrow (because today is already a write-off!).

A1Sharon · 08/05/2017 17:27

Exercise!
I have never been a gym bunny, but I would have walked and done DVDs at home etc.
But the last year I have just stopped, been eating rubbish, generally not looking after myself.
I think you will only stick at something if you enjoy it, so no more couch 25k, as I hate running. And I don't really like the gym either.
I like ballet, which I do at home, and Davina DVDs.
This week I started walking again, mapped out 3 miles on MapMyWalk, and did 3 miles in an hour. I also dusted down my bike and have done 2 60 min cycles-my arse hurts!
And I have stuck to my goal intake, some days I use some of the exercise cals, some days I don't. I was out for dinner on Sat and had 2 glasses of prosecco and 3 Cosmopolitans Blush.
I am so unfit but it feels good to be getting it back.
Re:food, I believe that if you start denying yourself all the things you love you will fail. You have to eat food you like!
I really recommend Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin.
He suggests 4 rules;
Eat When You're Hungry
Eat What You Want
Enjoy Every Mouthful
Stop When you're Full
I love that! That's how I want to live my life, I want to be in control, not the food. He gives lots of advice for beating cravings, and just thinking, am I actually hungry? Or bored/tired/stressed? Sound familiar if you have kids?Grin
Stop beating yourself up! So you had some cake, I once ate an entire M&S Passionfruit Swiss Roll-for breakfast!
I find MFP lets me eat the way I want, enjoying good food that I like, no forbidden food, just more awareness around food, you know?
It's hard to break the cycle of chocolate for breakfast, cake for lunch and crisps in between, but beating yourself up won't help.
Start small, plan your food/meals on things you like to eat, and clean out a drawer or a cupboard if you get the urge to pick.

lifesjoys · 08/05/2017 17:39

I've eaten 4 digestives today Blush

gttia · 08/05/2017 19:49

My biggest problem is lunch on a work day. I really struggle. I am not keen on sandwiches, salads or soup.

So I eat cake and crisps....

Any help would be much appreciated.

DragonNoodleCake · 08/05/2017 20:34

Gttia what about left over pasta or savoury rice? Chicken wraps? Baked potato?

PastysPrincess · 08/05/2017 20:38

Do you like cream cheese? I do a load of vegetables/salad mixed in with some light cream cheese and 2 boiled eggs. I love it.

DragonNoodleCake · 08/05/2017 20:39

I'm doing something different and aiming to spread my food out throughout the day. I have IBS and going long periods without foods makes me gassy.
I also did an energy course at work that suggested keeping your blood sugar as stable as possible is the way to stop cravings.
I managed it today - having just over 1500 cals (still being under thanks to walking). I'm planning to try this for a full week and report back.
P.S - its mostly healthy stuff (to get nutrients) but my diary is open if you want to see it.

Anyone just starting? I don't think I can do it alone!
A1Sharon · 08/05/2017 20:53

gttia what kind of foods do you like? Can you hear stuff up at work?

FluffedIt · 08/05/2017 21:35

@diamantegal I'm the same with treating myself with food, it's a hard habit to break! I'm sure it's my mums fault, that and stress eating!

What do u have at home that you couldn't have at work @gttia? Maybe we can work out a way u can!

gttia · 09/05/2017 07:54

Thanks ladies

Ok I do like salads and sandwiches but fresh! So a few times a week I treat myself but it's expensive. Today I have some cooked chicken to take with me and I finish at 2.45 so will eat at home later.
I hate lunch on a weekend too - when I lost lots of weight before I just skipped lunch daily which I'm tempted to do again....

DragonNoodleCake · 09/05/2017 13:25

Very fast pace on today's walk.
It does allow me a sprinkling of cheese on my turkey bolognaise dinner tho Grin

gttia · 09/05/2017 13:48

That sounds yummy!

MurielsBottom · 09/05/2017 14:24

I am still here (after a ropey weekend)!

But yesterday and today I have done well. The weekend was just a massive right off, mostly down to pmt I think and decorating downstairs.

So Monday, I have started on mfp logging meals and exercise. Today I have been brave and taken my bike out for ride too. I have three stone to lose and what is most annoying is that this time last year I weighed a stone less than I do now. Oh well, at least that proves I can do it even if it takes a few false starts.

gttia · 09/05/2017 18:03

I have a plan.....

I used to skip lunch totally but don't feel up to it so I'm going to fast 16:8 and calorie count the rest. This will stop my mid morning cake fest!! Hopefully.

My lunch ideas are cheese and crackers, boiled eggs and cheese, some nice ham etc. Let's see!

How is everyone else doing?
