Anyone just starting? I don't think I can do it alone!

Hi, I'm a fatty and can't stand the self conscious feeling anymore. I tried sw but it's not working for me so I've downloaded mfp.

I've got about 3 stone to lose and would love a chunk off by October. Though I know it will take longer to hit target...anyone else just starting? Or just need a bit of company along the way?

I try and plan ahead what I'm eating and then anything left over I can have what I want within the calories. Then the focus is on what you can have not what you can't.

Dottydoodoo · 21/08/2017 18:33

Thank you, that's a good tip. When I first started this I wrote lists and planned everything, I suppose I've become a bit complacent. Back to the planning it is! I've been good today and I have enough calories left for a Milky Way once DS is in bed. I'm going to enjoy it after the day I've had, DS has got his canines coming through bless him and it's been a very long day!

Kimonolady · 22/08/2017 00:51

Hi all - takes deep breath
My diet started today (well, technically yesterday... Monday.) I've been feeling down about my weight for a long time, but the triggers to actually DO something about it were a break-up, and looking at my recent holiday photos and feeling like I hate all of them because of how much weight I've put on. I've never felt that way before, and I don't want to anymore.
Looking for some support here - this isn't something I can talk about with friends since they give the stock response of "nooo you're lovely what are you talking about you don't need to lose anything!" I know that's not true, and although it's coming from a place of kindness, it's not what I need to hear right now!
Downloaded MFP and came pretty spot on to 1200 today. I'm feeling proud and motivated, although my tummy did start rumbling at about 10pm. I'm excited to do this!
How long was it before you all started to see results?

PastysPrincess · 23/08/2017 20:14

It's taken me a long while to get into the swing of things but now I'm into I seem to see results each week. I lost my first 20 lbs September last year but then didn't lose much else until this thread started. I've lost 3 stone so far with 5 more to go.

It's really great you've got the motivation now; just go each day at a time and they will build up.

FluffedIt · 27/08/2017 16:11

Man, it's bloody hard to stay on track...I feel like I have an addiction to crap food! 😂

PastysPrincess · 27/08/2017 17:34

It is so hard isn't it. Theres been snacks and chocolate all work all week cos a colleague was going on maternity leave. So horrible sitting by every else and not eating.

FluffedIt · 27/08/2017 20:40

Oh no I've well and truly strayed from the path this week. Was planning on sorting myself out Tomo but it's bank hol and MIL will expect me to drink wine and try feeding me everything in her cupboard! ... tues it is then!

Im going to try and download a few 30 day challenges like squats etc, and aim to hit my step goal every single day, going to turn September into a month of kick butt kick start kick myself if I don't get cracking.

I got a Fitbit last Friday so I've been exceptionally good this week as I'm all motivated by it. I'm a data analyst by occupation so it's something that really taps into my nerd gene. Lol.

You don't have to drink just because MiL expects you to. Just a simple no thankyou or put some lemonade in it. Or if she is a gobshite like mine just take it and don't drink it.

FluffedIt · 27/08/2017 22:27

That's the thing she's so lovely, I may have the only nice mil ever! 😂 she's already told me she's bought in rosè for me as she only likes red.

She so so nice...she's just a feeder!

OP posts:
FluffedIt · 27/08/2017 22:31

Ps I love my Fitbit, it's def good to keep motivated seeing the steps in front of me than just knowing I've going for a walk what's your name on there and I can add you if you like?

That goes for everyone else too if you are fitbitty?!

PastysPrincess · 27/08/2017 22:34

Aww care to swap? Just accept and then drink slowly??

WonderfullySunny · 28/08/2017 05:03

You two are doing so well @PastysPrincess and @FluffedIt !! The fit bit is great, am similar in the nerd department the tracking is fun. Especially if you're about to go to bed and realise you're less than 1000 steps from 10k, few rounds around the bed before sleep Grin Although have recently found out I'm pregnant (5+5) so probably can't cut down as much as I have recently but will keep tracking everything so I don't end up a hippo by April!!

FluffedIt · 28/08/2017 07:27

That's amazing news congratulations @WonderfullySunny ! Flowers

Drinking slowly is a good idea

My lady time is here again so least I know why I've been struggling so much, just wish I knew beforehand rather than after! Going to start keeping track as I've no idea when it's due since having the coil

PastysPrincess · 28/08/2017 08:27

@WonderfullySunny congratulations! Thats wonderful news Flowers
I've done some jogging on the spot to get my steps in for the hour. Grin

@FluffedIt I use an app called Period Tracker Lite so it keeps track for me. You can log all sorts of stuff about your intimate health. It's really useful for a free app.

I've managed to lose 5.2 lbs 👍🏻

WonderfullySunny · 28/08/2017 08:52

Thanks guys! Still doesn't seem real yet....
@PastysPrincess 5.2lbs is great! You were right about the one day at a time, it's the little things that make the difference a lot of the time.

@FluffedIt I use kindara which is more difficult f a tracker to avoid or become pregnant. It's good for tracking things though so you know by CM when you're likely to have a visit from AF!

WonderfullySunny · 28/08/2017 08:54

Autocorrect fail there sorry! It's not more difficult! It just has a few more features.

FluffedIt · 28/08/2017 09:32

I've gained 3lb!! Boooo!

OP posts:
PastysPrincess · 28/08/2017 11:58

I bet most of that will come off next week. I always lose a lot the week after Aunty Flo's visit.

Dottydoodoo · 28/08/2017 15:10

WonderfullySunny what lovely news, congratulations!! Flowers

I've lost 1 ib over the last two weeks, one lonely little ib! To be honest I have been so bad over the last couple of weeks I'm surprised I have lost anything!! I've eaten far too many chocolate bars and crisps and the pack of chocolate digestives that I bought yesterday for my parents coming round has now vanished...........

But I'm going to get back on track (I say this every week haha). I have half a pound to lose before I have lost a stone, and I've got more to lose after that so I need to get on with it! I just cannot contain myself when it comes to yummy things though, the trick is to just not buy them but I want to be able to have nice things in moderation. Arghhh!

FluffedIt · 28/08/2017 21:17

Yeah I'm hoping it will disappear when flo buggers off!

I totally get the wanting to have a teeny bit then having a snacksident and scoffing the whole thing!! I've realised now I'm a all or nothing kinda girl!

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 29/08/2017 14:32

Hey all, hope you do not mind me joining.

I was doing MFP before Easter and finding calorie counting OK, lost a stone, then just stopped and ofc put all the weight back on.

I am currently 15 stone 12, and want to get down to 10 (which means I am apparently still in the overweight category but cannot imagine being less than that)

I just hate myself so much, I am never in photos, so have very few pictures of me and the children and feel like when I go out everyone is laughing at me or disgusted by me.

Yet, I never seem to stick to anything long enough to lose the weight.

So starting with calorie counting, then hoping to get in some exercise, but I do 4 long days a week so am pretty usually exhausted on my days off and catching up on house stuff.

FluffedIt · 30/08/2017 06:28

So 2lb came straight off, good old lady time bloat!

@BearsDontDigOnDancing (and anyone else too)feel free to add me on mfp I'm FluffedIt on there too, I completely understand how you feel re photos, it makes me so sad that I have barely any photos of me for the last 10 years, and those that do exist are hideous!

OP posts:
FluffedIt · 31/08/2017 08:16

How is everyone's week going?

OP posts:
Dottydoodoo · 01/09/2017 08:34

It's going well over here thank you! So far this week I have stayed on track and completed every day as under my calories on mfp. It's our wedding anniversary today so I might be eating chocolate later though!

I completely get the photo thing, I'm usually the one holding the camera anyway but when I do end up in a picture I just look awful. I do my best to stay out of pictures too. I would love some nice pictures of me and DS so that he has got something to look at in the future - maybe that can be my target for losing what I want to lose!

DonkeyPunch88 · 01/09/2017 13:10

Hello all, can I join in please? I've recently had a baby in June and am looking to get back to my pre baby state by January. I'm trying this MyFitnessPal app to see if it helps, I'm weighing in yesterday at 10st 3lb and want to get to 8st 13lb which is my usual. I'm also trying to get back into hula hooping as I'm a big fan but couldn't do it with a bump in the way! Looking forward to hearing your tips and tricks Smile
