Ahhhh...

Be careful about your lower back... it's not because you're hunched over when feeding him is it?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 03/12/2007 19:59

hands up who's getting all teary and broody from reading this thread!

SOOOOOOOOO happy for you DJRM!

moondog · 03/12/2007 20:18

Oh JARM,this is so lovely to read.
Feel a bit teary now (Yes,mean old moonie goes soft!)

Sofa bed an excellent idea.
My sister pulled hers out in the lounge and I thnk it stayed like that for a good month.
The whol family just lolled about on it eating crisps and choccies and watching crap tv. Her baby was born around the smae time of the year.I mean really, what else is there to do but stay in and watch tv?

If your shoulders are sore ask your dh (who always sounds so lovely) to give them a massage.Oh and a foot rub wouldn't go amiss either I'm sure.

Well done you.We know it's tricky, but you are definitely getting there.

moondog · 03/12/2007 20:19

Deep breath before you feed nad consciously drop your shoulders.
Feet up on a stool if you are sitting too.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/12/2007 20:24

Well done JARM. The sore lower back could be from bad posture whilst feeding. I found a stool, or pillows behind my back helped with backache. Oh, and make sure you sit up with your shoulders back, and tits thrust forward ............ well, even more forward than they already are IYSWIM!

DanJARMouse · 03/12/2007 20:34

i just want to say thank you again, honestly, if it wasnt for you lot he would have been on formula yesterday!

thanks for the tips on posture, will try those and report back!

we are all just lolling around on the sofa bed, and no, there isnt much else to do!!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/12/2007 20:42

Oh DJARM - i'm so pleased for you

sparklygothkat · 03/12/2007 20:53

Oh Jarm, told you that you could do it, keep at it bet you end up feeding him till he is 1

sweetkitty · 03/12/2007 21:08

well done JARM I remember feeding all evening with DD2, once you get the Lasinoh cream your nipples will get better too, try when you are not feeding to air your boobs, squirt some milk on them and let it dry in as well, it does help.

Am very of sofa bed in lounge and you all lolling around on it watching TV, a v shaped cushion against your back is good as well.

Am very I will hopefully get to feed another one in July.

DanJARMouse · 04/12/2007 07:57

I think Daniel must had read the manual!

We fed on and off most of the evening, settled himself to sleep at about 11.30pm and slept til 4.15am. DH picked him up while I went to the toilet and he went back to sleep til wanting fed at 5am. Back to sleep at 6am and is still asleep!

He is just perfect and the feeding is a lot more comfortable now.

Can I get any luckier?! A lot of this is down to you guys though, without you I wouldnt have been able to carry on.

THANK YOU ALL OF YOU.

When Christmas is over, I am going to get the addresses of Hunker/Moondog/SK etc etc and send you all a little thank you xxx

Mossy · 04/12/2007 08:06

So glad to hear it's going well now. You must be so happy!

Right, I want another one now...

moondog · 04/12/2007 08:44

Oh this is sooo great!
You are very lucky to get so much sleep.
The only thanks people want is to see you and your baby happy.

hunkermunker · 04/12/2007 09:11

It's honestly thanks enough to see you posting like this, I'm over the moon for you, truly!

Give Daniel a big cuddle from me!

DanJARMouse · 04/12/2007 09:48

i know its still early days but im a lot further on than i ever have been before.

if it wasnt for you guys i know he would have been on formula by now, and thank you for helping me through. just knowing there is someone here to encourage and talk me through helps so much.

you all have no idea how much this means to me, the support and the bfing!

god i love you

MarsSelectionBoxLady · 04/12/2007 09:52

Well done DanJARM. Sounds like you're babymooning which is exactly what you should do with a newborn.

laundrylover · 04/12/2007 11:11

Just caught up with all of this JARM - well done on the birth and a HUGE congrats for doing so well with the bfing!! It sounds like you've cracked it to me - there's a certain point where you think 'aha, it's working' and it sounds like you've passed that magical moment. Of course there'll be ups and downs still to come but you are doing great and I am sooooo pleased for you!!!

DanJARMouse · 04/12/2007 12:04

Thank you all.

MW has just been and stabbed him but also weighed him. He has lost, but not too much. He is now 7lbs 14oz, birth weight was 8lbs 4oz. MW seemed to think that was ok.

Have had a feedathon this morning, but he has just settled to sleep so my cue for some lunch! Havent had a chance for breakfast yet!!!

Thanks again everyone, you really dont know how happy I am that this is starting to work out!

sweetkitty · 04/12/2007 12:10

well done JARM, remember to eat whilst you are BFing as well.

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 12:15

Well done DJarm!!! Look after yourself too hunni!!

Katz · 04/12/2007 12:24

JARM just wanted to add my congratulations on getting this far, you are doing brilliantly.

Liz79 · 04/12/2007 12:37

This thread should be printed and put in with the bounty pack/emma's diary type freebies the midwives give you. Would encourage people to keep going and em know you DO get there in the end and maybe they wouldn't give up early because its so hard.

Wish my baby would come out so I can feed him/her. T+2 now, first baby and head not engaged

JingleyJen · 04/12/2007 12:59

It is so lovely to hear that things are going well. You sound like you have overcome the major hurdle of getting started. If you are planning on going out and about - can I make the suggestion that you breastfeed him whilst sat infront of a mirror at somepoint before you do it for the first time.. it will give you a clear picture of what other people can (OR can't) see.

DanJARMouse · 04/12/2007 13:42

at out and about! The furthest I get is my dads house!

Did go to town yesterday, but literally to the post offic and chemist and home again!

Dont think im brave enough to feed in public for while yet! Still far too much norkage on show!

JingleyJen · 04/12/2007 14:22

Sorry JARM, didn't mean to say the wrong thing.. it was just something someone advised me to do and I had found it helpful

nappybaglady · 04/12/2007 14:44

Oh my goodness, watch out for an increase in the MN birthrate in 9 months. This is such a lovely thread and making me v nostalgic for those lovely early days. It's a good job DH has had vasectomy.

Well done with feeding. On about day 6 with ds I remember him looking up at me after a v painful feed with blood running down his chin from my cracked nipples. We kept going, with loads of supprt from DH. It was all better within 36 hours and ds was bf until 12 months. Boys are great and so are their big sisters
