Is there someone on here called 'veal' who posts on the Guardian talkboard?

If so, do re'veal' yourself

I have just seen what you have said about me over there, and you totally misrepresent what I say!

I don't think that people who don't express 8 times in 24 hours are 'lazy'.

I have never talked about the 'virgin gut' in my life.

I don't think women who give formula have 'risked their baby's life'.

I actually think the idea of nipple confusion is wildly exagerrated and do not think women who use bottles 'give their babies permanent nipple confusion'.

Where am I ever 'stern' with mothers?

I am not a bit bothered about how much Clare Byam Cook is supposed to 'hate' me though Though maybe she doesn't 'hate' me - if 'veal' reports what I am supposed to think so unreliably, then maybe she's got this wrong, too.

So, veal, where on earth have you got all these crazy ideas from???

I've just apologised to tiktok here. It was funnier to use the name tiktok because usernames are intrinsically funny. I think this is a crazy response, and I won't post again.

liath · 14/09/2007 20:04

I don't think it's terribly funny, TBH unless you have a very warped sense of humour.

tortoisekinnockSHELL · 14/09/2007 20:04

yes but if someone read those boards and came onto mumsnet, they would take tiktok's advice as being suspect. And 'Clare Byam Cook hates Tiktok' is pretty explicit.

And I've never seen the advice about expressing anywhere on MN, and certainly NOT from tiktok. tiktok has helped a lot of people on here, myself included, and I think this is absolutely and completely insanely out of order.

pooka · 14/09/2007 20:07

Tiktok is an individual poster. While ascribing all sorts of advice you might have been given to her made your posting easier, it sure as hell is insulting and untruthful. Not to mention hurtful.
Unless you're joking about being veal? You are joking, aren't you?

fireflyfairy2 · 14/09/2007 20:08

Veal should be renamed "vile"

hunkermunker · 14/09/2007 20:08

Macneil, you were out of order. BANG out of order. But your posts on the Guardian site show more about your feelings than they do about Tiktok, so I shall just feel quite sad for you, I think.

Tiktok, you're worth a squillion of CBC, who makes my skin crawl. The idea of her anywhere near my breasts is enough to put me off being a person for life.

LaBoheme · 14/09/2007 20:08

"god, , veal should be shot."

oh c'mon get a grip

callmeovercautious · 14/09/2007 20:10

Well macneil I suggest you bugger off back to the other board. Slagging off other people when you clearly know nothing about them is sheer ignorance.

I am sorry you struggled to BF but that does not give you the right to be poisonous about a very kind and generous person. There are many of us on here that have been helped by her in many ways.

Pick your words more carefully next time.

hunkermunker · 14/09/2007 20:10

Why is it a crazy response?

You've been sprung trying to justify the way you feel about bfing (and after the support you've received on here too!) and you've come up with some sort of mad defence.

If I posted on "lunaticsrus.com" that "I talked to Ken Dodd about how much we hate the poster Macneil on MN for being utterly cheerless and totally up herself" and then said "oh, no, I meant an amalgam of humourless posters" would that be OK? Er, no.

DaisyMOO · 14/09/2007 20:10

Macneil your clearly have 'issues' because of being unable to breastfeed your baby but how DARE you be so gratuitously unpleasant and essentially libellous about someone who gives up their time to selflessly help others. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I think you and I are sitting at computers with a very similar expression on our faces, Prunester - it's kinda like this a mixture of and

pooka · 14/09/2007 20:15

I'm definitely

kiskidee · 14/09/2007 20:15

a well, macneil, TT and I just showed some epathy for your situation on the last thread you posted. here

it is a shame that when you were in Canada no one referred you to Dr Jack Newman's bf clinic in Toronto.

You seem to have a lot of breastfeeding 'issues' and need a bfc to help you get past them and move on.

Macneil, I'm interested, actually, did you talk to CBC about Tiktok, by name?

liath · 14/09/2007 20:18

kjdfhkjadhgjkfd

That was my jaw hitting the keyboard.

TellusMater · 14/09/2007 20:20

macneil - that was an apology in the fashion of Prince Harry.

Worth bugger all.

I am gobsmacked.

berolina · 14/09/2007 20:23

macneil unbe-bloody-lievable.

I have, on MN (not sure whether by Tiktok or not now), been advised to express 8x/day including at night, but that was in a situation where ds was no more than a couple of weeks old, refusing most feeds, and I was desperate to eventually be able to bf him. I was never the champion expresser but following that advice probably helped save my supply and ensure that I am still bf my 2.4-year-old ds today. Tiktok was a wonderful help to me at that time.

Posting under a pseudonym does not mean that one is not a real person. Bleating about netiquette does not mean that one has not done a sh1te thing and upset someone who really doesn't deserve it.

berolina · 14/09/2007 20:24

(for clarity: refusing feeds at breast, not bottle)

MrsJohnCusack · 14/09/2007 20:28

Um if you're expecting everyone to say 'oh, that's OK' now you've 'apologised' macneill, you'll be waiting a long time

I'm quite impressed you've said it's you, but hey, shall I go and post on another board, saying 'I've bonded with someone over how much I hate a poster on Mumsnet called macneil' and see how it makes you feel?
