I name changed, I am a black woman and request primarily black women to send a message in support of Meghan to the royal family. We do not have to explain why we believe Meghan, this is a safe space/board for us.

I am white and a mum of 2 mixed race DDs,
I believe her.

I find it incredible that people try to deny the racism she faced from the press and that some people appear to be shocked when they are told of the racism that happens every day in this country.

If anyone in my family had expressed their concern at the colour of my unborn child i would have made my feeling quite clear.

Suzi888 · 11/03/2021 21:15

I believe the comment about skin colour was most definitely made.

Rege · 11/03/2021 21:15

They were already bitching about her on MN and making digs in the press long before the ‘fab four’ headlines. It was all a lie.

willibald · 11/03/2021 21:18

@Rege

Kate obviously has no conscience. How could she stand by watching for all theses yrs as Meghan was vilified by the press for doing something to her when infact it was Kate all along! Unbelievably entitled she is. She didn’t have to release a statement, she just d to show some solidarity with Meghan especially in public to ease the pain and suffering she was going through. The royal family could’ve released a statement saying there was no rift between the two women and Meghan had been nothing but o,Dasani to Kate without actually going into the actual details. Instead, they decided to keep quite and watch her reputation shredded to pieces. Harry must’ve been furious!
All these years? She was only on the scene for less than 2 years before they left. You have no idea of her character because she's never splashed it all over the media.
Rege · 11/03/2021 21:24

@Will Bore off! She was around long enough for Kate to tell the truth or at least show some compassion. She is selfish and self absorbed and so are all her racist fans. I have no respect for her whatsoever.

Why? Because you have formed an opinion of her? It's just that. I have no respect for Meghan and Harry, personally, and don't see why they'd want to hang onto any titles from his family, much less complain their son wasn't given more, but don't resort to personally insulting people who don't agree Hmm.

anewdispensation · 11/03/2021 21:26

I believe her! The pain was too raw and too familiar

@TheWarbler, I understand it is our board, but this is not the time

Could have just put question to the main board then. This is a Black MN board; It's always 'the time'.

Bear in mind the incidents leading to this section being created.

No matter that some land arrogantly wanting to be the voice of Black women; which is an entirely different and seperate thing from actually being an ally.

The 'I don't believe her's' and justifiers are a waste of space in terms of even bothering to engage.

Choconuttolata · 11/03/2021 21:42

I believe her, I am white with 3 mixed race children, DH is black.

I saw the media coverage of Meghan over the years and have witnessed examples of racism so many times in the UK. With all that we know about institutional racism in the police, the judiciary, the parliament, the civil service, local councils to name a few. I cannot believe that anyone would be naieve enough to believe that the longest standing institution centered around the monarchy would not also have the same prejudices within it.

I cried when I watched that interview. I had post natal depression and PTSD and struggled to get support from outside agencies, but my family were there for me. I can't begin to imagine how lonely Meghan must have felt going through that without access to wider support. What a cold-hearted organisation that would ignore her mental health needs and feelings because the optics would not look good. How cruel.

Spot on!

anewdispensation · 11/03/2021 21:48

MN has disappointed me sorely these last few days.

It has shown that a lot of people are cold, petty, emotionally unintelligent with a healthy dose of bias and racism.

Feminism clearly means white females over any other type of woman. I remember the Me too and times up movement and how the women were supported and not questioned even those with dubious stories.

White women support other white women to fight the patriarchy but will happily throw the black woman under a bus to protect that same patriarchy. So sad and disappointing and it happens all around us. School, workplace, neighbourhood as well.

It will be interesting to see if 'Allies' call them out, won't it.

Omg this is so true.

I have no desire to 'be the voice of Black women'. How could I be? But I am an ally.

AlexaShutUp · 11/03/2021 22:02

I am not convinced that everything that M & H said in that interview was true but I do absolutely believe their claims about racism. I am saddened but not surprised by the ease with which these claims are dismissed by those who couldn't possibly know. Surely, the default position should be to believe someone when they say that they have been victims of racism, just as we would hopefully tend towards believing women who say that they have been victims of rape? I think it's pretty dangerous to just dismiss such claims without any evidence.

(I am white, if it matters.)

I'm sorry for posting on here if it wasn't appropriate.I do generally refrain from posting here, and probably should have done this time.

This, also. The hypocrisy.

They won't call out their own, rather they will attempt to cross words with Black Women.

Not this one. I've no interest in giving that mess airtime here.

Rege · 11/03/2021 22:18

@willibald You’re welcome to go back to your racist threads where you’ll find likeminded bigots. This is a board For black mners and the thread for those who support Meghan and want to fight racism. Cruel, spiteful and entitled bunch.

Quaagars · 11/03/2021 22:18

White and believe her.
This stood out to me too I found the 'recollections may vary' comment in the RF statement shocking
Kind of comes across as a "that's not how we remember it but OK, if you say so!"
bit gaslighty.

Right, so anyone who doesn't believe Meghan is a bigot and you're the moderator of MN Hmm.

Cleverpolly3 · 11/03/2021 22:36

I think if Meghan Markle really wanted to tackle the royal family for being racist then there were better ways to do it than being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey and positioning herself as a million miles away from Black women or indeed vulnerable women per se in her £20,000 of clothes and shoes never mind the jewellery

Living her truth isn’t the firm reality of practically most other women’s and I worry that she will be turned into a poster girl for something that she is fundamentally disconnected from by virtue of her decision to marry a white royal millionaire.

Rege · 11/03/2021 22:39

@willibald Run along now back to your bigoted threads, I’m sure the party is still in full swing.

Can you suggest some better ways to tackle the RF on racism which by the way wasn’t what the interview was about. I didn’t see any tackling going on- it was their chance to correct many lies circulating about them for years lies which the RF staff had put out themselves.

So I’m quite interested to know the ways in which she could have done this better?

The truth is, racism does not choose class or money. When you are black you are black. One drop rule or no drop rule.. a £5 or £1m pound dress will not change that. Mental health problems has no bounds. All problems are relative. Pick something else to shame her with if you must. But please stop acting stupid becuase you don't actually care about the issue.
