I'll start by stating I couldn't give two shits about two people I don't know.

However, I am finding so much humour in the 'non racist' vitriol from people that don't know them, and who seemingly don't care, yet can't get them out of their mouths!

I can't wait for this Oprah interview (that I might not even bother to watch) because I'll find the obsessive thread after thread on this absolutely hilarious.

To start us who have had a lifetime of this shit off, I thought I'd add to the frothing with this gem!

Kelechi, Shola and Gina were so on point and so unapologetically Black!

I'm hoping we can congrats here for our own analysis later!

CruellaDePaella
Well, if black women stop answering these calls and caping for everybody, no one would force them, would they?
Why do they speak up when the favour wouldn't be returned if the tables were turned? If they're called for something that isn't about them, they can decline. Let Meghan's fellow biracial women speak for her - there are plenty of them around but of course black women will answer, then complain about having to speak. Meghan didn't exactly identify as Black in Hollywood till this all happened, did she? (I could be wrong about this one but I still stand by the point I'm making). No one's forced to speak for anyone on these issues

I agree the Trans Debate and Racism debate is similar in that only one type of woman is truly seen as 'worthy' by those debating

Mostly in agreement. However they've said they did it because Meghan's mother is a Black Woman. & The racist gaslighting MM is experiencing now, in some form or other is experienced by Black Women. So I wouldn't call it caping, in that respect.

Meghan hasn't ever denied her Blackness it's just a convenient myth spread by racists. & Misogynoirs.

I am minded also that Bi-Racial women don't say No to speaking on issues affecting Black Women, whereby it's maybe seen as 'not too contentious '. But right now mostly they're M.I.A...

Poor Meghan! There’s no racist like a British racist. It’s the perfect mix of arrogance, condescension and faux politeness.

I believe white British people are so fragile and insecure that they are genuinely intimidated by smart, articulate, black people and feel the need to put them back in their box. A lot of them have the empire, white supremacist mindset!

HmmmmmmInteresting · 08/03/2021 19:15

This is what Meghan has to say on her biracial identity.

No its not harsh @Orchidflower1. It is accurate and please don't tell me as a Black woman how I should feel about YOUR offensive comments. FFS, stop derailing the thread.

BelleHathor · 08/03/2021 19:19

@HmmmmmmInteresting

Sola was amazing this morning on GMB ( I watched the clip because people were sharing it on Twitter) . She shut Piers down and made him look like a fool. She handed him his arse on a plate, basically. It was divine. Don't think he'll be booking her again. Made me buy her book Grin
Shola "I will let you speak when I am finished!" m.youtube.com/watch?v=RsObE9_XVr0 And Trisha to Piers: " If they was a show called bullying you would be the star" m.youtube.com/watch?v=hCodxDpHxhE
Quaagars · 08/03/2021 19:20

Harry himself has probably had to do A LOT (!) of unlearning

I think this is true, as I remember him saying and I paraphrase he didn't appreciate his white privilege until he met Meghan.
Social media including Twitter/FB predictably went into meltdown Hmm
Good on them for speaking out about issues, I don't blame them at all for getting away, the press is utterly toxic.

Agreed
DeeCeeCherry · 08/03/2021 19:24

Trisha Goddard on Piers not getting to define what racism is and isn't...

Tonkerbea · 08/03/2021 19:25

This thread is a tonic compared to the bilge on the main boards.

All white British people? Every single one of them? Have you actually met them all, or are you just judging people by race?
Quaagars · 08/03/2021 19:33

I was saying that IMO you used the definition of gaslighting incorrectly. Gasllighting is awful, perpetual mind games which I have not done-

You said white, black or purple spots, kind of says that you don't see colour, and minimises people's experiences?
Kind of comes across "it's not your colour, silly, I'd be saying that about you if you were purple!" Hmm
Also whataboutery'd bringing in veganism and climate change in a thread about racism.
People should be able to have a thread discussing the racism that's being exposed and their experiences without all this bollocks.
The term gaslighty seems pretty accurate here.

Quaagars · 08/03/2021 19:36

Oh, for goodness sake, if you're not one of the white people who indulges in this kind of behavior, it wasn't referring to you, was it?! So why take personal offence?!
I'm not.
You realise what board you're on, right?!

DeeCeeCherry · 08/03/2021 19:38

Do we have White Women in here aiming to tell Black Women how to think feel and speak about racism?

Instead of joining the twisted toxics on the multitude of other threads - that are not in this section?

Which part of 'Black Mumsnetter' don't they understand?

I do see colour

LifeOnHoldFor · 08/03/2021 19:49

The U.K. are masters of subtle racism. Subtle racism cannot be proven and usually comes off as the person is being over sensitive.

Example: I am white, DH is black. We walk into a shop together, I am greeted he is not. I pay for something the cashier puts the change in my hand. To him the money is placed on the counter. This can be subtle racism, but 99% of people would swear he’s being over sensitive or using the race card.

It’s disgusting, nobody defended her, nobody cared how low she sunk.

The only thing I cannot agree with is, if you insinuate racism tell the whole story. It’s a serious accusation. Name & shame

It's tiresome and tedious. I'm so tired.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 08/03/2021 19:50

@Orchidflower1

Ok *@DeeCeeCherry* don’t take this the wrong way but if my child has a friend who is black, one is Asian, one mixed French ( so the same heritage) and one is white- why does my child need to “see” the colour. I’m not being goady, I’m just asking. I was brought up and I’ve raised my children in a country I’m not from to see people as people They are friends not colours. . I see nice people and I see twonks. Am I doing wrong? I really didn’t mean to offend.
It's not really our job to educate you. Maybe read a book.
Quaagars · 08/03/2021 19:50

Why should they remove the thread?
It's not the OP that's upsetting people, it's the constant shit like this.
