I'll start by stating I couldn't give two shits about two people I don't know.

However, I am finding so much humour in the 'non racist' vitriol from people that don't know them, and who seemingly don't care, yet can't get them out of their mouths!

I can't wait for this Oprah interview (that I might not even bother to watch) because I'll find the obsessive thread after thread on this absolutely hilarious.

To start us who have had a lifetime of this shit off, I thought I'd add to the frothing with this gem!

Kelechi, Shola and Gina were so on point and so unapologetically Black!

I'm hoping we can congrats here for our own analysis later!

@peachgreen

I wish I could be shocked by how many people are insistent that asking someone "how dark will the baby be" isn't racist, but unfortunately I'm not. So fucking depressing.
What concerns me is the number of white women who have mixed children in that thread justifying it as innocent and saying context is important. Those poor kids.
Starseeking · 08/03/2021 14:15

I am uncomfortable that Black Women are sought out for public commentary on this, as you know, we do the fightback thing so well 🙄.
But when it's a subject pertaining to the dangerous prejudice we suffer in medical care for instance, they NEVER call upon us to speak publicly, do they...?

I have to say this really annoys me. It's like we are only allowed a voice when they want us to be angry, and speak on a race specific issues that they give us permission to.

Another thing is that they only ever seem to invite dark-skinned Black women to fill those roles, perhaps so they can put us in the Angry Black Woman box.

RedMarauder · 08/03/2021 14:22

I do wonder where's Akala, Rochelle, other Bi-racial notables to speak on this? Are they busy saying "I don't give 2 shits about Meghan?" I saw a little of this on other threas

You mean like this one? www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/mar/05/meghan-britain-duchess-of-sussex-media-palace

I'm not sure if it is Ms Hirsch, but there is a biracial journalist who has refused to and is refusing to engage with the broadcast media over the Duchess of Sussex, due to the abuse the journalist has received herself.

Babygotblueyes · 08/03/2021 14:23

Its the 'no true scotsman' thing isnt it? People have decided they dont like her and that they are wrong and have to then double down in order to stick to their guns when their statements are proven wrong. Great clip on youtube. BTW, am I the only one who thinks Piers Morgan is looking more and more unhinged by this? I get she didnt call him for a second date - makes me warm to her really - but surely he should be over it by now.

You are both absolutely right. They want to reinforce the angry black women stereotype, hence they only call us for emotive topics like this but not things where we need representation and can actually change things.

He shouldn’t really be concerned about dates considering he’s been married to his current wife, Celia Walden, since 2010 yet many people seem to forget/ignore that little tidbit where Meghan supposedly ghosted him.

Cokie3 · 08/03/2021 14:35

I saw the interview a couple of hours ago, and they both came across as incredibly sincere and truthful, and devoted to each other. I've been following American media and American media is very scathing of England and the English press for destroying them. Celebitchy www.celebitchy.com/ is a great site for people sympathetic to Meghan and Harry and has American perspectives.

tara66 · 08/03/2021 14:36

Honestly some people do not know when they are being racists, perhaps because they have never lived in Africa, Middle East or other countries with different races. That can cause their minds to be ''narrower'' - but they don't know it!!

Benelovencd · 08/03/2021 14:37

And Susanna Reid is the epitome of the complicit white women pretending to be anti-racist while she agrees with everything Piers says. I've seen her push back with more oomf when Piers was having his tirades about vegan sausage rolls than her feeble non-attempts today to save face.

Susanna is the colleague that watches you treated unjustly while silently watching then tries to hug you in the break room at lunch saying useless platitudes like "we aren't all like that" and "just ignore him". I have no interest in hanging out with people who I have to convince of my humanity.

I dont usually watch Piers Morgan by choice but gave him some time this morning as I know he feels Meghan Markle owes him in some way and thought I'd see how deranged he would be about her. Bloody hell! Well done Trish Goddard for telling him he's a bully who has no place accusing MM of the same. Whilst he spluttered, Susanna and other participants were laughing at him and agreeing with Trisha. He's an opinionated thug and it's time he got a different job. Horrible man

Yes, the usual suspects will either have excuses for it, or will divert again to some perceived fault of Megan.

I saw the interview tonight in its entirety and what struck me was how committed to each other the couple was. The thing about someone from the royal family asking 'how dark' will their children be doesn't surprise me in the slightest, nor does it surprise me how slimy, smarmy and vindictive Kate is. The pair came across as truthful and sincere. Every single one of the RF, the media, and people on here who slammed Meghan should hang their heads in shame, but you need morals for that and many/most of here detractors don't seem to have any.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/03/2021 14:52

At last, a thread about Harry and Meghan I don't have to hide.

I firmly believe most of the vitriol is because Meghan is a biracial women who is doubly hated because she is beautiful, articulate and successful. I think the people that run the RF had no idea how to work with this and no intention of changing how they work when faced with someone who, quiet rightly, was capable of thinking for herself.

JayDot500 · 08/03/2021 15:39

The royal family are toxic af! What nonsense in 2021? Look at all of them. Their stoicism will kill off their precious monarchy more than anything. They are pretty useless if they can't even defend themselves. I feel for any child born into that.

CruellaDePaella · 08/03/2021 15:41

Well, if black women stop answering these calls and caping for everybody, no one would force them, would they? Why do they speak up when the favour wouldn't be returned if the tables were turned? If they're called for something that isn't about them, they can decline. Let Meghan's fellow biracial women speak for her - there are plenty of them around but of course black women will answer, then complain about having to speak. Meghan didn't exactly identify as Black in Hollywood till this all happened, did she? (I could be wrong about this one but I still stand by the point I'm making). No one's forced to speak for anyone on these issues.

I agree the Trans Debate and Racism debate is similar in that only one type of woman is truly seen as 'worthy' by those debating.

I agree with this 100%. Always saw this about Susanna in different topics long ago and would rather have direct Piers than cowardly, sneaky Susanna. She just slyly lets Piers speak her mind so he can bravely take the fall for it - knowing he's untouchable. Haven't watched them in probably a year though.

I’m not surprised. Many have asked what has she done that has been so bad to deserve the vitriol she has received.

I constantly see many mn posters want to pretend the States are just as scathing but they’re not. The mass majority of the things she has done that has been criticised wouldn’t have made a bleep by American Standards. Those Americans that do are reading the British tabloids as actual news. Not only that, they like to act as if the States is so much worse when it comes to racism when in reality the U.K. is just as racist but more subtle and polite with it and think that’s better than overt. It’s not.

I find it 🙄 how she’s supposedly a bad actress but somehow good enough to dupe the RF. Which is it?

Also, will add it’s very interesting how she is somehow a bully yet has no reputation whatsoever as one before she joined the royal family and I think they would have investigated the s**t out of her beforehand and something would have come up nor would she have been on a tv show for that long if she was and have so many people defending and speaking up for her.

debbrianna · 08/03/2021 16:13

The tea was brewed in England but served ten fold in America.

I saw this quote and loved how it covered all basis in a few words.

"Colourism is what allowed Meghan to marry into the Royal Family and anti-black racism is what forced her out of it. That’s the nuance you’re looking for."

peachgreen · 08/03/2021 16:23

That's a great quote @debbrianna. So accurate.

Honestly if I hear any more white grandparents bleating on about their beautiful "cappuccino coloured" mixed race grandchildren I'm going to puke.

debbrianna · 08/03/2021 16:26

I disagree with this comment. Replace women who are darker being aired more in this situation..I believe they fought for that space. They have not shied away from the topic. I have followed kerchief, Gina and shola for a long time and they have spoken non-stop. Afua has been at the constant receiving end. Being told to leave the britian if she hated it that much. (Half black/jewish). If tge people to a little more interest in Black-ish they would know she tried to leave the UK. Unfortunately, your home is your home. You just have deal with the racism becuase everyone else sees you as different and not belonging.

I am more disappointed with rochelle Hume.

“The thing about someone from the royal family asking 'how dark' will their children be doesn't surprise me in the slightest, nor does it surprise me how slimy, smarmy and vindictive Kate is.”

Agree! Look outside the British gutter press (basically every paper on the shelf) which has to toady up to the British establishment with the Queen as figurehead. Anywhere else in the world and people are amazed that MM could tolerate the royal freak show for as long as she did.

She may not have identified as black, but a black man offered them saftey when no one else would. She is never going to deny her race again. We are going to here more about her black side in the near future.. the people who have rallied for her without fail has been black. We get her and she knows it.

debbrianna · 08/03/2021 16:51

How dark is the baby going to be? If you listen to what meghan was saying, she states that the conversation didn't happen once. It was her and Harry being sat down to have this discussion.

The other threads are minimising what exactly happened. This is not the usual what colur hair or eye colur. It was in relation to how it woild look on the royal family..

JingsMahBucket · 08/03/2021 16:53

I wish this myth of her denying her Blackness in Hollywood would die. She never denied that. She was being cast for those roles as White women or seemingly ambiguous women. She never lied to casting directors. She's even commented on that before when the myth/lie has arisen. People, both White and Black, keep using this as a stick to beat her with but she's never denied being half Black, ever.
