Ladies, it seems that we do not know when to stop!
Here is another thread. Let?s hope it?s just not the tread that moves that fast - let the weeks fly!
I jsut have to work out how to link the old one now!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They routinely test for GBS in the US (dh is American). I've got to say, I'm torn - generally, I like the laissez-faire hands-off approach of the NHS where they don't weight you at every antenatal appointment and do endless internal exams, but in this case, I wish that they would be a bit more neurotic about US-style testing...

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/04/2009 18:05

Hello! Pleased for you scarlotti, fruitpastels and lemontop on your scans.

I think I am going to go mad over the next seven days. I can feel insanity settling in already. My scan is a week today and it feels like years.

The DSs have just had their tea: bubble and squeak with melted cheese and baked beans and they really do not appreciate good food! They moaned and groaned all the way through. DH and I are having leftovers as well tonight. I quite like leftover Sunday dinner.

I've felt a bit more sick today than I have of late so am taking that to be a good thing.

Is anybody else fed up of getting up to wee three times a night? Or is it just me (as in getting up, not being fed up!).

katster37 · 27/04/2009 18:14

BeckyBL also having the insanity feeling... And I have eleven days! Grrrrrrr. But felt atrociously sick today, so hoping too that this signifies something good. The midwife today said not to expect sickness to go until the 14 - 16w point???? Is that true?? That's ages!! Yep also getting up in the night. V annoying. Also am noticing more and more this excess saliva thing, which is making me sick. I constantly feel I need to spit, and have even resorted to doing so on a number of occasions.... Yuck.

My giant lazy cat is sprawled out all over my knees/stomach. Goodness knows what he will do when the baby comes... Can't see it going down too well with him!

turtle23 · 27/04/2009 18:16

The reason they don't test routinely is that you can have Strep B one minute and not the next and vice versa. Personally, I'd rather stink of garlic than risk it! You can actually pay to have it done/test at home but as I said, there's no guarantee that you won't get it in the meantime.

Ninjacat · 27/04/2009 18:18

Thanks Turtle - That's certainly food for thought.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 27/04/2009 18:20

I am so pleased the scans went well!

Becky - I am hardly peeing at all at the moment , so far I have been 3 times today, first thing when I woke, 3pm and 5:30pm.

Turtle - what are the symptoms of cystisis? Temp is not too raised, but more than I anticipated, between 98.4 and 99. I have no pain when I wee, but I am hardly weeing at all and it is very dark, I think it is due to my constant sickness and consequent dehydration .

Oh and I hope I don't have strep b! I am in particular struggling with the smell of garlic so that natural technique would be difficult to do!!!

Fruitpastels · 27/04/2009 18:21

BBlegs I was up 3 times last night for a wee and felt the urge to wee more often today. At times it's the smallest amount and hardly worth it!

Sickness has been bad today, but I could blame this on my DH's driving and me being a very bad passenger these days.

katster37 · 27/04/2009 18:46

turtle can I ask have you done the garlic thing? You would only need to do it near to the birth, though, wouldn't you?

Bought my first maternity wardrobe item. SOme ankle length black jeans/trousers from Topshop. Really nice, and worringly comfy at only 10.2w. They don't actually look like they would fit a baby inside, but I guess they are not over-the-bump ones, they just have elastic-y bits along the top. Also found some lovely skinny maternity jeans in Topshop - they looked really nice which is amazing, as skinny jeans never have done (on me) before! Daren't actually take the labels off though, in case they need to go back due to bad news...

Pavlov that's because you are being sick you poor, poor thing. You can have very mild cystitis with no symptoms at all, according to my midwife. The usual symptoms are pain when weeing and constant need to wee (I have had it once and it was just awful - like having wee diarrhea). The test for it every time they test your wee I think.

I'm not sure about sticking garlic up my nether regions but it is an interesting concept. Not much gets up there at the moment .

Fruitpastels do you drive? I find I don't feel sick if I drive but if DH drives me I feel rough.

Tamlin · 27/04/2009 18:55

I have a mental image of going into labour soon after doing the garlic thing and all the midwives cackling about the woman in Room #2 whose vagina reeks of garlic...

Fruitpastels · 27/04/2009 19:09

I do drive, but DH wanted to drive to the scan today. I should have known better

sleeplessinthecity · 27/04/2009 19:11

Am with you Beckybendy DH can't wait for the sickness to be over!!! Can't even fathom it myself..I'll stick to my vivid dreams at the mo..it was Jack Bauer from 24 last night

Garlic sounds fascinating..I hope it works and for all of you Strep B know it alls..thanks for informing me.. I had no idea what it was..
Here is Geneva I'm assuming they test for it. They seem to test for everything else. I even get a scan every month.

Katster wish I had TopShop here..sigh..very jealous of skinny jeans buying..

Pavlov hope you feel better soon. Can you not keep any liquid down. Have you tried Dr Pepper..Keeps me hydrated.

Made a casserole for DD and have been sick ALL day. So BORED...so thinking of all of you having to be at work and meeting people and kids etc.

anyone else's tummy completely hurting??? Mine starts as soon as I wake and I have to run to the loo at least 2 or 3 times a day..Sorry for TMI but I just want to know. I know some of you are constipated but anyone the other way round...???

raggie · 27/04/2009 19:15

Congratulations on all the happy scans today!

Got my scan and booking in dates today, yay! 14th and 20th May respectively. Still lagging behind you lot of course but making it feel more real now - so silly when I got the letter I was thinking, 'wow, they believed me' (that I'm pregnant?!?!) Pretty weird, it still feels all so unreal without any midwife appointments or scans or anything.

weston I am so feeling you with the sick of being nauseous thing - one minute eating helps, next minute can't stomach anything and ANYthing can prompt the nausea...so fed up!

katster you've told your school haven't you? I think I am going to have to tell mine this week as they have said they have nearly figured out where we will all be next year in terms of year groups and I bet they won't want to put me back in Y6 when they find out my news! How did you tell them/how did they take it? I know they have to be 'suportive' but just wanted some idea from you (and any other teachers out there if you're listening...)

BeckyBendyLegs · 27/04/2009 19:20

I have 'the other way around' too sleeplessinthecity. I have been very productive in that department since conception. I also get stomach ache sometimes. Pregnancy just messes with everything in your body!

turtle23 · 27/04/2009 19:22

Yes, have done the garlic thing. It kills thrush as well. It stinks and your husband wont want to know...but hey...no drugs involved.

katster37 · 27/04/2009 20:55

raggie my school had kind of guessed when I threw up in the foyer and had apparently 'looked awful' for a couple of weeks! I told my Head and she said 'Yes I had already guessed' I was really annoyed actually, but didn't really surprise me... Think I will be given a class for half a term even though I have made it clear I won't be back that school year (except for possibly one day in July so I can get paid over the summer!) but no idea where... Have a feeling they will put me in y5 as the y5 teacher is coming back from mat leave sometime in Nov/Dec I think.... Since then (just before Easter), the Deputy has been lovely but the Head not mentioned it at all - didn't even ask me if I was feeling better, despite knowing I had had bad sickness before the hols! Hmm. I'm sure yours will be fine though, and my Deputy was absolutely lovely.

I am an emotional wreck tonight. Burst into tears on my Mum on the phone when she laughed at my Quaver sandwich and joked about the nutritional content - I burst into tears and refused to speak to her. I am turning into a lunatic. Cannot stop crying!

Good morning! Good luck to any scanners today! I've been up a mere two hours, sigh.

beepbeep · 28/04/2009 08:35

Turtle - unfortunately if i have a 5 min labour they'll give the second lot of IV antibiotics straight to baby. Also been told by MW that the test done by NHS isn't that reliable and she recommended getting the test off strep B website and paying for that one to be processed (you don't pay for test, just the processing).

Am with the rest of you on the sickness, although mine is def getting better (she says hopefully!), have come off the tablets for it and although i feel nauseous every so often it's nothing like it was. With DS it lasted til 20 wks (fingers crossed that doesn't happen again)

Good luck to todays scanners!

skorpion · 28/04/2009 09:46

sleepless - I had a really bad turn yesterday, bent double with pain. Can't go to the doctor with trapped wind though... eek! This pg thing is really messing with my digestive mojo!

Ninjacat · 28/04/2009 09:54

Day 2 under the duvet on the sofa. Dr made me go to out of hours surgery last night to be safe but just a nasty virus that shouldn't affect baby.
Have to stay in Liverpool on Thursday to attend a seminar on domestic violence for work so hope to feel better for that, at least I'm going by train.

With reff to the Strep B test, I'm under the impression that if you get a + result on NHS it is a definite + but if you get a neg it's not a definite neg. All too confusing for me but the risks do seem pretty low.

beepbeep · 28/04/2009 09:56

Ninja - don't know exactly what MW meant, just that they weren't that accurate - what you say sounds about right!

Tamlin · 28/04/2009 10:15

Stuck at home with bored ds, awaiting the midwife - she said she'd call between 9-11, and it's now 10.15. Sigh. So far, we've done some painting, bubbles in the garden, and read 'Where the Wild Things Are' three times, and now I'm running out of bright ideas. And ds, of course, would like to go ouuuuuuut, and keeps hurling himself at the front door by way of a subtle hint... He must think that Mummy is really thick not to be catching on.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/04/2009 10:19

skorpion trapped wind can be really painful. I always get it when I am pregnant and it makes me see stars in front of my eyes sometimes.

I'm stuck inside too Tamlin awaiting for the gas man. I'm doing work in front of the TV though (don't tell my boss!). The DSs are at school and nursery.
