Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

You do know you can customise it so you don't have to scroll pages? It's all on 1 long page

I'll add the list in a second

Didn't know you could customise to that extent - only played with flipping the order. But then I'm a bit of a mumsnet lightweight...

is anyone else on here self employed?? im starting to panic about what im eligible for regarding maternity allowance!

ilikeyoursleeves · 20/02/2009 20:24

Ooooo new thread! Mij on my DS's scan pictures there is no mistaking that he is a boy! There's one with his legs sticking out with his massive boy bits stcicking out the middle, one for his 18th birthday party But it would have been harder to tell what was what by just looking at the scan monitor with an untrained eye.

I tried out my friends Phil & Ted's today- it was fab! Although a few downsides to it too but I guess the perfect pram doesn't exist eh? It's not much bigger than our Quinny so it's in the lead so far before I test out other doubles.

rubyriley · 20/02/2009 23:01

Mij Thanks for starting a new thread, good idea! and Phoenix thanks to you as always for putting the list on it.

I haven't checked out MN for a while as been SO busy. Fetched a puppy for DS on Sunday, OMG is this what it's like (it's been a long time) to have a baby, i.e. all consuming?? 9 wks old, putting out every half an hour for toilet, plus every time wakes up, plus after food. AND wakes us up crying at 6a.m. Constantly cleaning, disinfecting hard floors; trying to obey advice that must not scold puppy, just make minimal fuss, clear up mess and persevere. My youngest DS is 12, eldest 21, so it's all a bit of a shock and me thinks a taste of things to come....... This baby is very much wanted and loved already (my scan due Mon) but confess to thinking WHAT have we DONE!? Haven't even had time to reply to text messages, how pre-occupied is that?!

Anyway, congratulations to everyone who has had good 20 week scans, fantastic news

Hope everyone with ligament problems is getting help and pain relief.

Need to sign off now as home alone tonight, so have to be up at 6 for puppy duty. (unless I put my ear plugs in and sleep til 10 )

ActivityApple will post pic when I find the lead to my phone, put it away somewhere safe..... Or get my eldest son to email me his pics & I'll post them on here..... Lovely puppy, all wrinkles and loads of skin but eek he's lively!!

ilikeyoursleeves · 21/02/2009 12:57

Ruby awwww a new puppy Good practice for your baby coming!

We've just been for a long walk and popped into a cafe for tea and scones and DS fell asleep on the way back so I am relaxing now, was going to do housework but can't be arsed, will tackle the ironing later...

What are you all up to this weekend?

rubyriley · 21/02/2009 13:45

ActivityApple Found my lead and posted on my profile a few piccies, hope you like! Not easy when puppy's lying on my lap

ilikeyoursleeves Can't believe I've agreed to this Was prepared for wholeheartedly looking after another little soul from July but currently feel hoodwinked by DP & DS (the latter whose dog it is) as they're both away for a couple of days. You've reminded me about my huge pile of ironing waiting to be done upstairs. Can't do with a puppy trying to chew the iron elec cord. (at least that's my excuse)

It's a bit pricey for me! If it makes ironing fun do you want to come over and do all of mine?

DS is still asleep and I am munching on a cheese and ham sarnie and about to have lots of choc chip cookies too, yummy. Oh and I just opened up an online Lotto account, we still live in hope that one day it WILL be us!

london11 · 21/02/2009 14:32

Hi all,

Glad everyones scans are going well. Mine is on Tues and I can't wait!

Lydia I am self employed. According to the direct gov site Maternity Allowanve is paid for 39 weeks at £117.18 max per week. You can claim from 27 weeks pg. They ask you to choose the 13 highest paid weeks (don't have to be consecutive) out of the 66 weeks prior to your due date and you must have been self employed for 26 weeks out of those 66. Claim pack is called MA1.

OMG, you guys do ironing? That was pretty much the first thing to go when DD turned up. I have ambitions to start ironing the odd item sometime mid 2012...

BTW has anyone seen the family section of the Guardian today..? About the couple who went for a third child and got triplets? She actually puts make-up on (although doesn't iron any more, I was very pleased to see).

I'm mostly a non ironer too. I have to do my work shirts (Royal Mail) but that's about it unless something looks really bad. I don't think i could part with £50 for an iron unless it actually did it for me

Awwww that puppy is soooo cute Ruby. We got a Lhasa Apso puppy just before ds was born and know what you mean about preparing you for the arrival of baby. We don't actually have the dog anymore because ds terrorised him (so much so that Gizmo bit ds more than once) so he now lives with my friends parents. It was the best thing to do for both him and us, they have a lot more time for him, although a hard decision at the time .

Dh is working tonight and ds has just gone to bed, ah peace and quiet

Misspaella · 21/02/2009 20:02

Hi everyone
Wasn't today a lovely day? I had real happy hormones surging and was in the greatest mood ever (which is a huge change for me).

I finally dusted off my old maternity clothes and packed away all my spring/summer non-maternity clothes. It's bump bands and stretchy stuff from now on. I am going to get some new bits even though this is our last bubba. A girl has shopping needs, doesn't she.

Ruby how fun to have a puppy. I have always wanted a dog and DH wants one. But it is on hold for the next year at least. I can see how you get on first.

Christiana that is a great iron. If I ever ironed I would love it. I have terrible memories of having to iron my very pleated uniform skirt as a child and severely starch my blouses. I now leave that chore to DH.

Phoenix · 21/02/2009 20:13

God i'm so bad, i just ordered a pizza

ilikeyoursleeves · 21/02/2009 20:27

We had a pizza for dinner too but it was a cheapo one from Tesco as we are credit crunching so no Domino's for us like we usually do. DH made some homemade carrot and ginger soup too so we didn't feel too unhealthy.

misspaella you sound all very happy! My day was quite good, big walk this morning then played with DS this afternoon while also tidying out a bookcase, I found photo albums of me and DH when it was just the 2 of us- so young and carefree!
