Hi all - so sorry it's taken ages to get back - it's been hectic!
Well Effy Marilyn was born at 12:29 on Wednesday 20th August weighing 6lb 3oz!
She's very small but absolutely gorgeous with dark hair. She looks more like her daddy than DS, who is very like me, and she has really big feet with long toes and fingers. I'm totally smitten. I'll put pics of her up when I get the chance. I have some great snaps of her comig out still attached to me, but think they might be a little graphic!
So far DS has been amazing. He was so excited to meet her and he wants to cuddle and kiss her all the time. Also, despite my massive reservations, I'm breastfeeding and it's going realy well. Bit painful but she seems to have really taken to it.
Birth was a good, although scary experience. We arrived at C&W for 8am and there were two other electives also booked in. We were prioritised with me second so, because three emergencies then came in, we had to wait until lunchtime before we got taken into theatre.
I then got really nervous and was freaked out by everyone trying to calm me down but really it was all fine. Got the spinal put in with no problems and I didn't even feel them start cutting. There was lots of tugging and pulling (lovely anaestheist kept us updated) and then they asked us if we wanted the screen lowering to see her coming out. She cried staight away and DP and I both burst into tears. I panicked that she wasn't a girl and asked them to check! They then did her Apgar and gave her to DP.
She was so small that I got a little scared at first and didn't get that huge rush of love I got for DS, but once they gave her to me to take us back to the ward, it came really quickly.
It was a great experience - so much nicer than the emergency last time round!
Thanks for thinking of dropping off a card - very sweet of you all.
Eandz we do have different consultants. For some reason I thought you were under Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who has been fab.
So what have I missed? Can someone post the latest list?
