We completely filled the last thread so I have started a new one!!

I'll have to go get the list.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chutneymary · 21/05/2008 07:32

Thanks Kayz. How are you this fine morning?

Pixsix - hope you saw my message. I think you would have to be American large before they couldn't see the bits they need to on the scan but there is the TV way.

Am feeling ominously better. 2 days in a row. 11 w today. Perhaps the sickness is ending????

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 07:33

I'm ok thanks Chutney. How are you?

Pixsix, Chutney is right. You have to be huge for them not to see anything.

OP posts:
Verso · 21/05/2008 07:34

Woohoo!!

Pixsix - I have a high BMI too. The first few times I was scanned the sonographer was lovely and my tummy wasn't a problem AT ALL. Last time though, I got someone else and she pointedly asked me to pull my tummy out of the way . Great for one's self-esteem! (mind you I was worried about the scan so a bit of dented pride didn't bother me that much). You should be fine though - it really doesn't affect the scan.

Verso · 21/05/2008 07:35

chutney I feel ominously better too... which is making me worry!! (I am a daft moo - feel free to tell me this).

I'm off to a consultant appointment this morning and dreading it as it will involve the first conversation with him re the c/s. I hope the midwife has briefed him. My DH can't come because his school (he's a teacher) won't let him have any more time off . They've already docked his last month's pay for the scan appointments he came to with me .

Verso in answer to your question about going to the gym. DH will have the DC's while I go to the gym. I'll probably go at the weekend and one night a week. Thats hopefully anyway.

OP posts:
pixsix · 21/05/2008 07:39

Thanks everyone, I feel better now! I've had a TV scan before when being checked for PCOS so I know what to expect with that. I will be prepared for a bit of tummy hoiking and you're right Verso my dented pride is much less important than seeing a healthy baby. Fingers crossed that's what I'll see on tues, I'm counting down the days!

Chutney, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Kayz thanks for the 3rd thread!

Verso · 21/05/2008 07:40

Good thinking, kayz! My DH wouldn't look after DD after a day at work or at the weekend because he has MS and gets quite bad fatigue - so I did all the nights etc with her (he did a couple of hours a night to allow me to catnap). I'm determined to have some 'me' time this time round!!

kayzisexpecting · 21/05/2008 07:43

DH said he would look after them so I could go swimming and to the gym.

My DH is very good, he did night feeds and changed nappies. I'm hoping to breastfeed this time so he said he'll change nappies and then I will do the feeding.

OP posts:
BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 08:35

Morning all! I feel better this week as well (11 weeks and 3 days today). I hope everyone is feeling ok today. I'm embarrassed to say I've only ever been to a gym once and that was on a hen weekend and I looked so out of place as I am just not sporty at all, all arms and legs and no coordination dressed in brand new gym gear that hasn't seen the light of day since!

chutneymary · 21/05/2008 09:22

Good luck for today Verso with the consultant. I am sure that once s/he hears about your last labour a CS will be fine. I expect that s/he will talk about VBAC and the comparative risks of VBAC and CS birth (as they have to), but if your mind is made up then just get the CS booked. You'll feel so much better. And if you come up against a stroppy bugger, ask for a second opinion. WHich hospital are you again? St Mary's or did I dream that?

Glad we are all feeling a bit better. Hope that poor Artichokes is too - she's had such a rough time, the poor girl.

Am working at home today. Might put my head down for 1/2 hour as the girls are at nursery .

chutneymary · 21/05/2008 09:23

and the sickness calming down is because you are coming out of the rough first part. You daft moo

hattyyellow · 21/05/2008 09:32

Verso good luck with the consultant today - I can't believe your husband got his pay docked for attending scans with you - that's terrible! . So sorry you have to go alone - I've a nasty feeling I might have to go to my dating scan by myself due to my DH's work.

I am towards the smaller end of the scale - normally size 10-12 with tiny boobs that ended up shrivelled balloons by the time I finished breastfeeding! Am delighted this time around to see I have a cleavage again! Have gone from 32b to 34D wayhay!

Can I just have a self-pitying whinge? I am so tired, I am so bored of feeling sick and getting indigestion everytime I eat everything. 12 weeks seems to be an eternity away and I am just crawling through each day trying to do all the work I've taken on and look after DD's.

Because I'm freelance I don't even have a helpful boss like last time around who I could tell early on - I'm just an anonymous contractor who they want to just get on with it.

I'm too terrified to tell many people in real life before my 12 week scan (particulary as I'm so nervous about whether it's twins again) and I'm fed up of feeling crap when I see friends and not feeling I can explain why. And all my clothes are too tight but I'm trying to hide my bump so my clients don't guess.

And my DH keeps using the most annoying example possible of a couple we know with 3 kids, she didn't work through her pregnancies and had two active grannies nearby who gave her 2 days off a week to sleep! I'm so so nervous about the scan and all the things that didn't go great last pregnancy and I just want to have my booking in and get into the system and talk to someone about my concerns.

Phew! That's better -all so minor compared to ummm, probably 99% of the problems and worries posted on MN today but I needed to get it off my chest. Will go and be grateful now for my luck in having another baby and having a job. I think I reached a similar plateau last pregnancy where it just seemed like the first trimester had been going on for months.

chutneymary · 21/05/2008 09:42

Hatty, you poor thing. I am sorry you are still feeling pants. I know what you mean about work. For some reason (?embarrassment - I've only just got back from ML) I haven't told my work and so I am just soldiering on too. I don't have anyone near who can let me sleep in the day and I too have had days when I have felt so tired and so sick that I have felt really desperate. It will get better. How many weeks are you now? I eat Settlers tums with indigestion (a bit like eating refreshers) and they really help.

Can you blag an early to scan to check the number of babies? It's a bit dishonest but you could always pretend you'd had some bleeding. I don't see why your GP couldn't refer you for a scan given you've had twins already.

And can you buy yourself a treat? I have a trawl on Ebay for Isabella oliver mat clothes when I am feeling a bit crap, and last week I went to Jo Malone as I was feeling super crap. It's not sleep but it will make you feel a little better.

Take care darling. Am rooting for you XXXX

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 09:48

Hattyyellow I know how you feel. I've got the same freelance issues. I'm doing some work today and the person I do a lot of work for has just asked if I can do some more this evening! She knows I'm pregnant as well!!! She has three children herself. I think she is desperate though for this work to get completed (so begs the question why am I reading MN when I should be working??).

I'm sure there are lots of us who don't have grannies, aunties, etc who can take over and let us have naps. That would be lovely Perhaps there should be a service Rent-A-Granny for pregnant women with children to look after. It'd have to be free of course and the grannies would have to be nice, a bit like the grannie in Mog And The Granny (if anyone has that book!).

Verso I can't believe your DH had his pay docked - that is really rubbish.

hattyyellow · 21/05/2008 09:50

Chutney am welling up at your kindness, thank you for being so nice . I'm sorry you're struggling with work and kids too - when do you think you'll tell your employers?

I'm about 9 and a half weeks now. Have tried repeatedly to blag an early scan but doctors surgery refuse to see me until next week to book me in and refuse to give me a scan until my 12th week - having had healthy twins last time isn't an excuse for an early scan apparently which I guess is fair enough!

Didn't think of Isabella Oliver E-bay, what a great idea. I had some great stuff from them last time around but moneys a bit tighter now so ebay is a great plan .

hattyyellow · 21/05/2008 09:52

Ooh Becky rent a granny what a great idea- you set it up (with the err 3 minutes spare time you have remaining each day) and I'll be your first customer. Would they all make your grannies raggle-taggle stew as well? Am still daydreaming about that! (despite the indigestion any food seems to give me!)

I can't believe your boss knows and is still asking for extra work - you poor thing!

pixsix · 21/05/2008 09:53

Hatty sorry you're feeling down. Great idea about the ebay shopping though, hope it helps a little.

hattyyellow · 21/05/2008 09:57

Cheers Pixsix -good luck with your scan!

My friend I was supposed to see with her DC this afternoon has just cancelled which has sadly made my whole day!

Now I don't have to be cheerful or active and can be a crap mummy instead and lie on the sofa with DD's watching the Jungle Book, having a cuddle whilst nodding off now and then.

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 11:02

There's a man doing a survey on our house at the moment. I feel really uncomfortable. He looks scary. I'm sure he's going to find out that the house is about to fall down. The DSs think it is great they keep saying 'oooh the man has gone upstairs' and the like.

Verso · 21/05/2008 11:34

He said YES! Am SO SO SO relieved!!! Also said that as of next week's nuchal I can stop taking the aspirin and will no longer be classed as high risk for m/c!!! He didn't even talk about comparative risks for the c/s - once he'd heard the details of what happened he said I shouldn't even think about it any more and that he would make sure it was a positive experience this time!

(and yes, chutneymary I am indeed a mooish sort)

hattyyellow you are totally entitled to have a rant about feeling pants (a pantsrant?) from time to time. The first trimester is knackering - particularly when no one knows. It's classic as well that once you feel ready to tell and start getting loads of sympathy is usually when you start feeling lots better!

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 11:44

That's great news Verso!!! It's nice that you've seen someone with some good common sense!

hattyyellow · 21/05/2008 11:46

Verso that's just such brilliant news! I'm chuffed to bits for you, you sound so happy . Have they picked a date or is it a bit early?

I got to pick the 8th of the 8th with my girls which I liked the sound of!

Love the pantsrant, good word!

Becky I hate surveys - was he allowed to tell you his findings or do you have to chew your nails waiting to find out?

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/05/2008 12:34

The man has gone but it was awful because he asked about flooding and although we weren't flooded last summer when the big rains came we have been flooded before (the summer before during a thunder storm) and I had to tell him about it. Although our purchaser knows about it, it still made me really nervous talking about it and having to answer his horrible surveyer questions. He was quite a scary man as well, he looked like a headmaster and made me feel as if I was in big trouble. Crumbs I hope it doesn't turn out too bad.
