New thread check in so it is on my 'threads I'm in on'

Denny185 · 08/10/2007 18:20

Went for m/w booking app today - cant believe it takes a hour hour, heard the beans HB and DS managed to behave himself for the whole duration.

The prediction thing was right for DD but wrong for DS, its saying a girl this time but were hoping its wrong as DS has been so much easier. Will try and find out at 20/40 scan although prev not been v successful with baby position.

Clothes - I love e-bay, everything cheap as chips, not into spending loads of money for clothes when only wearing for a short time (last preg started in sze 8 mat wear and staeadily increased to size 14 mat wear - guess thats what 5 1/2 stone weight gain does for you)

Good luck to everyone going for scans/tests this week

WindUpBird · 08/10/2007 18:37

Hi All,

I had my scan and there is a baby! My dates are all wrong though (I knew they were) so I have to go back in 2 weeks for the nuchal fold scan, quite pleased to have another scan . Sonographer estimated the baby at 9 weeks 6 days with an edd of 6 MAY!! So I'm not sure I can really stay on this thread as I will be the only one left at the end when everyone else has given birth!!

I'm so confused about my dates now, my last LMP was 14 July so I thought I'd be further along. But May would be better as DD is April, so it'd be nice to have space between the birthdays!

Good luck for tomorrow EllieG. Is anyone else still waiting for a scan?

motherbird · 08/10/2007 19:53

Just checking in to say hello and I hope everybody is well. Have steered clear for a while as have been feeling a bit worried about things. Have my dating/nuchal fold scan on Weds so will report back after that. Am officially OLD so worried that may have to have invasive test. My risk of down's was 1/100 when pregnant with dd and I chose not to have an invasive test. So am guessing the risk will be equally high if not higher this time round! Currently laid low with a horrid cold/flu type thing, does anyone know what I can take to relieve the symptons? (not lemsip, i believe). Anyhoo .. sorry for very slight moan!

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 08/10/2007 20:08

Windupbird, stay!!!
Someone else was told their dates were wrong (soph, I think)

and they stayed.
You're here now after all!!

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 08/10/2007 20:27

WindUpBird, please stay!I should be May 5th and am only here because I am having a planned CS as week early.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 08/10/2007 21:00

Windupbird you never know you could have your Bud a week early and I have mine two weeks late then I would be the last on the thread come on stay you know you want to x

lorisparkle · 08/10/2007 21:41

Just adding this to my 'treads i'm on' list. Still feeling sick and tired and wishing I could feel more '2nd trimesterish'

Good luck for all the scans and tests

Congratulations on any good news

Welcome to all the newcomers

I'm rubbish at these 'long threads'!!!!

BabyBratt · 08/10/2007 22:51

Hi Ladies

I had my scan today and there is a little baby there, moving and kicking etc. How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sooooooooooo pleased. My due date is 22nd April as I thought. She did not say much so I guess that means nothing is wrong. I have my booking appt tomorrow.

Windupbird, you should stay. My last period was the 14th July and Im due 22nd April. But baby would not straighten his back so she said dating could be a inaccurate.

I am really going to be a mummy YIPEEEEEE!!!

EllieG · 09/10/2007 09:02

Lovely news babybratt!

Am going for my scan in half an hour - wish me luck ladies (nervous emoticon)

Daftmoo · 09/10/2007 09:10

oooh a new thread, exciting !!!

I'm here to have another moan about my gp some of you may remember that last time I saw her she told me that they recommend mothers dont put on any weight now during pregnancy...well i obviously took that with a pinch of salt. Yesterday when i saw her she weighed me and I've put on 4.5lbs so far, I'm 14 weeks ! Now I'm 5'5 and in size 14 clothes, size 16 maternity clothes, I'm not thin, but I'm not massively fat either. When I had my booking in appt with my midwife she said my weight was normal. But my gp tells me yesterday that I should join a slimming class because of my rapid weight gain so far. I came home and sobbed...weight watchers here I come eh !!!!

Many congrats to all those that have had lovely scans recently

Are any of the Londoners going to the baby show at Earls Court next weekend?

www.thebabyshow.co.uk/earls-court-london/

Denny185 · 09/10/2007 10:04

goodluck ellieg

Daftmoo - have u thought about changing gp??? I put 4 stone on in first preg and 5 1/2 stone in 2nd, with both i lost 3 stone of it within 10 days - baby obviously and fluid retention nothing to do with diet, in fact 2nd time round couldnt have had a better diet. Dont go running to ww just be sensible.

A friend of mine was told she needed to loose weight by her hv when baby was only a few weeks old, of course when she tried it affected her milk production. I think there are just some times in life when your meant to be bigger - enjoy it while you can, there will be plenty of time for dieting when the bean is out.

Soph73 · 09/10/2007 10:07

windupbird - stay with me, I was given a revised due date of 5 May and my LMP was 16th July so in my mind I´m 12+4 and in theirs I´m 10+4 - weird

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 09/10/2007 10:13

My scan tomorrow- I shall be 15 weeks,, I am a little worried as the 'lost' notes scnario happened after they realised I wouldn't be having the blood tests for Downs etc, and lo! the scan and meeti with the Antenatal consultant is the day the tests would be taken.....

If the Dr can tell me more about life with SN children then I already know, then I will listen. otherwise I am old enough to make my own, reasoned choices.

WindUpBird · 09/10/2007 10:28

Ok, thanks for the messages, I'll stay now that I'm here Isn't it funny, Soph73? It must be to do with later ovulation or something, the baby was definitely young-looking, so I'm pretty sure the new dates must be right.

Daftmoo, your doctor sounds insane!! A slimming class during pregnancy?!?! I would ignore her advice and listen to your sensible midwife!

Soph73 · 09/10/2007 10:50

daftmoo - do not, I repeat DO NOT take any notice of her. Join weight watchers FGS - I don´t think so. Now I know we´re not supposed to be "eating for 2" (or 3 in some cases ) but as long as you eat sensibly that´s fine. Ooohhh, things like this really wind me up at the moment - can you tell

Daftmoo · 09/10/2007 11:03

Thanks for your advice girlies, my dp was absolutely furious when I told him what she had said. I'm not planning on going to a slimming class because I feel I'm eating really sensibly at the moment. I guess my problem is snacking because of feeling sick...I am keeping it to crackers and apples though. I'd rather be a few pounds overweight than sick anyday.

I'd love to change my gp, so many things have made me question her actions recently, but I really like my midwife....I'm torn.

I'm feeling a bit better about it all today, last night I was feeling like a HUGE heffer

Soph73 · 09/10/2007 11:04

It´s my favourite time of day - my Library is completely empty as the 6th formers have gone off to do their community service at the local hospital, I´ve got the radio on and can mumsnet to my hearts content for the next hour and 10 mins ... well, I might fit in a little work

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 09/10/2007 11:05

daftmoo everything I have ever read during any of ym three pregnancies has said that dieting during is absolutely not reccommended.

Sod the stupid doctor, in fact, get yourself armed with some proper information, and sock it to her, telling her iof she continues to advise you in such a detrimental way you shall be complaining.

I went froma size 12 to a size 22 just in TOPS when last pregnant (a shirt of which I could only just do up) By the time my baby was around 3 weeks old, I was down to a 16, thats due to the baby coming out!!!

Then with breastfeeding etc I got back to a 12/14. Your doctor is talking nonsense, some people just put on more weight!!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 09/10/2007 11:06

Daftmoo i would consider changing doctors if i were you as yours is talking complete crap pardon my french!! this makes me so now i am 16 stone and a size 22/24 and my doc has said to me to really try and eat heathly but now is not the time to start or continue dieting (I have lost 4 1/2 stone this year) she has said that i should try and keep my weight about where it is but that I am pregnant and not to worry too much about my weight but be mindful!

Mid BMI or of average weight is recommended to gain 25 and 35 pounds while an overweight woman with a high BMI is only advised to gain 15 to 20 pounds! in the first trimester it is recommended between 3-5 lbs so although your at the higher end this is still average!

Please dont cry over what some stupid Doctor says I really would consider reporting her! Chin up and enjoy your pregnancy x

Soph73 · 09/10/2007 11:09

Lorayn - I was exactly the same as you with DS. My midwife used to keep giving me sly looks like are you sure you´re not eating everything in sight But by the time DS was a couple of months old I was down to less than original weight while ttc DS.
