I think the 'grow' comes with the newborn insert but the Luna without 'grow' requires you to buy the newborn insert?? Also the toy bar is extra, gosh they've thought of all ways to make their money!!!

sianyflewog · 20/04/2020 16:36

My baby rocker was also up to age 4 - as soon as he could move around, he didn’t want to sit in it anymore 😂

Congrats @Piper1879 - it’s a lovely clear scan photo too 💙

Roxy8203 · 20/04/2020 16:37

I've just got the leaf not the grow. There is also an attachment call wind which makes it move rather than having to push it.

ShiningStarz · 20/04/2020 16:47

@Roxy8203 does that mean you had to buy the newborn insert and the wind separately?

Roxy8203 · 20/04/2020 16:49

@ShiningStarz no it says it can be used from baby to at least 4 or older depending on the child's weight

ShiningStarz · 20/04/2020 17:13

@Roxy8203 thanks 😊

Lorna198 · 20/04/2020 19:30

Travel system bought! eBay special, brand new condition, everything with it and nicely priced!
Next I’m on to sleeping, Googled a lot but can’t seem to see a real difference in cot, crib and Moses basket - just personal preference. Has anyone ever tried a baby hammock? I do like the idea of it just not heard a lot about it?

Piper1879 · 20/04/2020 20:16

Ahh thank you ladies ! Can relax now for a little bit 😂😅 hoping to make a start on the baby's room , sometimes it still feels so surreal 😌

ShiningStarz · 20/04/2020 20:45

That's great @Lorna198 how exciting!! I was looking at the snuz pod for the first 6 months. Thinking cot bed after that. Our bedroom is small and hopefully it'll fit in with us !

sianyflewog · 20/04/2020 20:55

We have a Moses basket for downstairs, a Next to Me crib for upstairs (which we keep separate from the bed) and then a cot bed. I may keep the baby in the Moses basket at night for the first few weeks though, as it was just much more snug than the Next to Me. My little boy is a tall 3 year old and he still fits in the cot bed - but he’s going into a full size single in his ‘big boys bedroom’. (I am so not ready for him to be a big boy!)

ShiningStarz · 20/04/2020 20:58

@sianyflewog is your Moses basket on a stand?

sianyflewog · 20/04/2020 21:06

@ShiningStarz Yeah, just a bog standard 4 legs though I do love the rocking stands.

Lilice · 20/04/2020 21:35

Ive got a moses basket with a rocking stand for the first few weeks, for upstairs and downstairs, then I'll be using the cotbed. I usually put the moses basket in the cotbed first to get them used to it.
My four year old still sleeps in his cot bed, converted into a bed of course.
@sianyflewog I'm tempted by a next to me. Would you recommend it? How come you separate it from your bed?

Lilice · 20/04/2020 21:36

@Lorna198 which travel system did you get?

ShiningStarz · 20/04/2020 22:15

Came across this one on Smyth's website.
I'll prob be at my parents house quite a bit during day when partner goes Back to work and this one is foldable and has a bag to transport it.. 🤔

Lazydaisydaydream · 20/04/2020 22:27

@Lilice we have a next 2 me, which we used fastened to the bed. It was good the few times he slept in it, as he was so close and I could put my hand on him, but had my own space and could use a cover etc. However he absolutely hated it so ended up sleeping in our bed most of the time (once I'd learnt about safe Co sleeping)... Which meant the next 2 me just became a really expensive place to store my glasses and phone overnight Blush. Going to give it a go again this time and hope we can get baby to settle in it a bit more. So handy for breastfeeeding during the night!! We bought the one which rocks as well (the dream?) so would detach it from the bed During the day and rock him for his naps which was handy.

Lazydaisydaydream · 20/04/2020 22:28

Oh and just to add he fitted in it until he was over 8 months old (and was on 75th centile) so definitely a longer term thing than a Moses basket.

Lorna198 · 20/04/2020 22:35

@Lilice it’s a merc 3 in 1. She had all the accessories too so that’s a bonus! I’ve got so bored of looking at them. They all seem the same to me 😂

Lorna198 · 20/04/2020 22:36

Thanks for the advice ladies. OH immediately turned his nose up at a hammock so Moses basket it is!

flameprincess · 20/04/2020 23:29

Oooh new thread!

I haven't felt any movement and with not having my heartbeat check I was rather paranoid so I went for a private scan yesterday. Baby was moving loads, having a right wriggle but couldn't feel it - they told me I have anterior placenta so will just be cushioned for me at this stage. Was so relieved to see everything ok with bub. Found out I am having a boy too :)

I'm so impressed with you ladies buying things already I'm just so overwhelmed looking at buggies/travel systems that I'm in denial and refusing to shop. I remember the first time round buying a separate car seat instead of full system and regretting it as had to disturb DS when he would fall asleep in the car - but I keep reading other people saying if you get the full system the car seats don't last very long due to the size? So I don't know where to start!

sianyflewog · 21/04/2020 07:08

@flameprincess We had a car seat as part of our pram - and he fit in it 9 months maximum. He was probably already a bit big before then. It was handy for if he fell asleep in the car though, as we used it to carry him in to the house or to pop on to the wheels if I was at the shops!

@Lilice I loved the Next to Me and Harry was in it until about 7 months when my husband told me it was really time for him to go in his own room! He would’ve fit in it for a few more weeks, whereas he was too big for the Moses basket by 8 weeks so better value overall.
We never attached it to our bed as I didn’t want to co-sleep - I’m a very heavy sleeper and didn’t like the idea that I would roll over and hit him in my sleep 😂 It was close to the bed, I could see him through the one mesh side, but I just didn’t want it to be an extension of our bed.
I know sometimes newborns don’t settle well in there and I wonder if it’s because there’s so much room, in a Moses basket I guess they’re a bit more cwtched in. You can always get a sleepyhead in the crib for that cozy feeling for them though.

emma278 · 21/04/2020 07:37

Oh wow @flameprincess congrats! It seems to be all boys at the mo, had 2 school friends find out boys yesterday too. We are keeping it a surprise i think. Anyone started on names? X

ShiningStarz · 21/04/2020 08:11

Awwww congrats @flameprincess I'm glad all is ok 😊

This advice from the ladies with experience is so valuable!! Can I ask how long did your babies fit into newborn? When did you switch to 0-3?
I don't want to buy too much and I'm glad I can't go shopping as I think it's stopping me from getting carried away!!

sianyflewog · 21/04/2020 09:28

@ShiningStarz I didn’t buy anything in newborn size as a lot of them said up to 7lb, and Harry was expected to be big. We had some Up to 1 Month (which was up to 10lb) and they were worn until he was about 4 weeks old and then he started wearing 0 to 3. He pretty much wore clothes to the age bracket although clothes can be more generous in size from some places, or slightly smaller especially where they are cheaper.
I would maybe buy by weight if you can see on the size guide, rather than buying by size as that will give you a better indication.

Lilice · 21/04/2020 09:48

@Lorna198 thank you, I'll check it out.
@Lazydaisydaydream @sianyflewog thanks for the insight. I think I'll buy one as I think it will help with the breastfeeding. I couldn't breastfeed my second and really want it to work this time. My daughter hated her moses basket at the beginning, took a while to get her used to it.
