@chocolate26 thank you

@Babybird20 I wish I could have honey and lemon but I utterly detest the taste of honey! I am sure the Dr will say it's a viral throat infection or something (I don't have tonsills anymore) but I feel so ill. Maybe there is something they can give me to help with symptoms if it's not an antibiotics job.

Lulubump94 · 26/01/2020 14:01

Hi all, hope it's ok to join in Smile
I'm pregnant with my first, due 25th June Grin

Kezmum14 · 26/01/2020 14:02

Hi everyone.
I’m due my 5th, on July 11th but will be having a c section at 37/38 weeks meaning this will be a June baby. I’m so fed up of being sick and the headaches. I’m now thinking I have a sugar addiction as I can’t keep anything down that is savoury until tea time. Today I tried to have a day of limiting sweet foods but I feel dreadful and my partner is currently at the shop getting me some chocolate. Any ideas on how to have a sugar detox but slowly so I can still function and go to work?

BabyBird20 · 26/01/2020 14:38

@chocolate26 I don't think there are any risks, the nhs website says from 16weeks to 32weeks. I think they're going from 20week as they have the chance to catch women in hospital for their 20 week scans to offer them the vaccine there and then rather than relying on people to book their own and make a special trip for it!

MissisBee · 26/01/2020 14:57

Don't think there's any risks before 16 weeks, just doesn't work as well. Doing it at 20 weeks seems a logical way to improve uptake.
Welcome new folks!

Gigitree · 26/01/2020 15:59

My midwife said it used to be 24 weeks for the whooping cough jab but now it’s from 16 weeks but I think this is a recent change.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/01/2020 17:53

@Rinoa that was our wedding song so it would defo make me emotional af the moment !
@APD1981 poor you, I also have a nose tha running like a tap through the day and completely blocked through the night and my throat feels like I'm swallowing razor blades !

AmyMaria2 · 26/01/2020 19:56

Sorry you're feeling so rubbish @APD1981 I hope they can give you antibiotics am clear it up, I felt awful when I had full blown flu just after Christmas, only taking paracetamol is a nightmare!

I'm going to book in with my GP for whooping cough jab this week, I'm 22 weeks Wednesday and midwife said after 20 so hoping it'll be ok. Also hope it's not to painful 🙈 x

Halloweenbabyy · 26/01/2020 21:41

I’m due the 24th of June. First baby.

UKtoSK · 26/01/2020 22:30

@APD1981 sorry you’re feeling so ill. If you don’t like the taste of honey how about just hot lemon and ginger water? I prefer it sometimes without the honey as it’s less sweet and the ginger really helps.

I still need to ask the doctor at my next appointment about the whooping cough vaccine here and if/when it’s given. I also want to ask if they recommend any vaccines for family members who might be in contact with the baby after birth. It’s going to be hard convincing my in laws to get anything though I bet... they are so lax about safety, don’t even use seat belts let alone car seats for their 8 and 4 year olds...

I’m also a little bit worried about this new Coronavirus. I’m just across the water in South Korea and we have a trip to Guam booked for the last week of Feb and I’m a bit nervous about travelling through the big airport with so many people around coming from all different places... so far 3 people in Korea have been diagnosed with it but they were all off a flight from China.

RunWild · 26/01/2020 22:32

Late to the party here, but new-ish to MN.

Due 20th June, IVF baby after previous miscarriages, 19 weeks yesterday. Not finding out the gender so we can have one surprise in this whole process.

HayleyD84 · 26/01/2020 22:51

Hi @Kezmum14 welcome, I'm also having an elected c-section but they haven't told me yet at how many weeks.
Can I ask if there ha a reason why you are having your section early? Just wondering if they will do mine early. X

HayleyD84 · 26/01/2020 22:56

I've been getting Braxton-Hicks for a while now, I go a bit dizzy, have cramps and my stomach goes all tight. I get them if I've done too much or walked too much.

I've been quite emotional lately, nice to know I'm not alone there.

I've got my 20 week scan on Tuesday and I'm terrified!! I was the same with DS1. I'm a wreck! Everyone keeps saying are you excited to find out the sex, I have to keep reminding people it's not a gender scan it's an anomaly scan and very worrying!! I'm so anxious I can't wait until it's over Sad

SproutMuncher · 26/01/2020 22:57

@HayleyD84 I’m nervous about the scan too, I always get such bad scanxiety

HayleyD84 · 26/01/2020 23:04

@SproutMuncher Scanxiety i like thatWink when is your scan?

newbyxx · 27/01/2020 05:15

Anyone still suffering with sleep? I seemed to get better after I got my pillow but the past few days I've been taking it out whilst asleep, waking up on my back and awake from 3am again. Works going to be fun today 😩! Xx

Smiffette · 27/01/2020 05:33

@newbyxx YES! I probably have 1 day a week where I'm not waking up 2/3 times.... it's not even to go to the toilet it's just restlessness and I'm a back sleeper so I try hard to stay on my side then wake myself up when I realise I'm on my back!

21 weeks

Gigitree · 27/01/2020 05:35

@Halloweenbabyy welcome! I’m due 24th June too with my first baby!

Pegase · 27/01/2020 06:46

Yes sleeping a nightmare here too. Wake up just once for the loo on a good night. 2-3 times on a bad night - disturbed by the slightest sound like the water heater coming on and also keep waking up from vivid technicolour dreams.

HayleyD84 · 27/01/2020 07:10

I keep waking up allot in the night and on my back Confused I am getting hip pain so it's more comfy on my back, try not too even have a pregnancy pillow but hasn't stopped me rolling onto my back again.

mrssunshinexxx · 27/01/2020 07:44

@HayleyD84 no hip pain here but also wake and always on my back and worry just keep correcting yourself that's all we can do x

BabyBird20 · 27/01/2020 08:17

I'm the same waking through the night and often on my back! Been reading up on it and apparently it's not too scary to wake up on your back in the short term, they just suggest rolling back to your side and carrying on. The risk is from prolonged time on your back over many months in the second/third trimester as can reduce circulation and thus blood flow to baby but by waking up its often your body's way of warning you to roll back over again. However many pillows I prop around me I always seem to find a way to roll over! My poor husband can barely fit in the bed now!! 😂😂

umabb · 27/01/2020 08:22

Sleep is a still a challenge to me too although I've been using the u shape pillow which I became like a lot I still wake up on my back a lot too - many times over night 🤪
Baby has been active every evening when I'm sitting on couch or bed preparing to sleep. Poor husband still can't feel his though as kicks are gentle.
20wk scan at 11:10 😑 excited (to see baby) and nervous at the same time. never get easy with that

APD1981 · 27/01/2020 08:34

Thanks everyone for all your advice and kind words. I have woken up today feeling so much better! Throat is still a bit sore but I can eat and talk now and I feel better in myself. Must've been a virus so I'm not going to go to the gp as I feel I'm fighting it off now. Phew!

I have been getting really bad hip pain from lying on my side. It has been excruciating at times. 2 nights ago I change how I have my pregnancy pillow and put it as a V shape on top on my ordinary pillows (so if I lie on my back I'd be at a 45 degree angle) and then I turn on my side, but at an angle. I've had 2 really good nights' sleep with no pain. So I'm sticking with this now!

@umabb good luck for your scan today. It is really nerve-wracking but I'm sure you'll come out feel amazing when you get the all clear. Try to enjoy it!

RunWild · 27/01/2020 08:42

@newbyxx I'm struggling with sleeping. Nearly every night I wake up around 3am & don't get back to sleep until after 5, then husbands alarm goes off at 5.30. Then I'm in a deep sleep & my own alarm is such a struggle.

Also been thinking of getting a pillow, but there are so many different style out there, I can't decide what's best. Currently just used a folded pillow at my knees, which has helped some back pain.
