Weirdly, overall, I feel more mentally stable during pregnancy than normal, but I do have random episodes of wanting to sob my eyes out over ridiculous things.
Haven't been asked to be part of any studies, but would be keen to participate if I did. Last time, I did a survey thing for the physios about back pain and exercise during pregnancy

BabyBird20 · 25/01/2020 23:34

@rinoa I understand that! Any reason to see the little bean again is good!! I was secretly quite pleased they couldn't get the last shots they needed at my 20 week scan as get to have another scan in two weeks!

I'm thinking I'll do the whooping cough trial, I don't get scans as part of it but get blood tests to check immunity and should help give a more specific window for the best time to have the whooping cough vaccine apparently!

AmyMaria2 · 26/01/2020 00:46

When is everyone having the whooping cough jab? I've been told to get it anytime from now, I am 21+3, when's the best time to get it done? x

MrssC92 · 26/01/2020 05:47

I don't know when the best time to get it done is but I had mine at 16+6. Straight out of my 16 week midwife appointment and sent down to the nurse. I was left with a bruise around the injection for 2 weeks!
I've been so irritable lately. I find myself getting annoyed at silly things. Also crying a lot.
Does anyone know what Braxton hicks feels like? I don't know if I felt them last night or if baby was just very active for over an hour. It felt like baby moving at first and my hubby could feel the movements but I don't know if it's normal for baby to be moving so much. I've felt movements previously but just a couple of movements here and there

@AmyMaria2 I'm having mine the day after my anomaly scan I'll be 21 weeks exactly I think the sooner the better than you are both protected

Busylizzie85 · 26/01/2020 07:12

They gave me my whooping cough as soon as I finished my 20 week scan. There was a nurse behind a screen and you just queue up and get it done. They did the same with the flu jab very handy having it all in one place saves booking separate appointments.

newbyxx · 26/01/2020 07:29

@AmyMaria2 I had mine at 18 weeks as you can have from 16 x

hjbows88 · 26/01/2020 09:15

@AmyMaria2 in this area you can only get it done after 20 weeks for some reason so I’ll be booking mine in for next week :)

I have also been very emotional and irritable for the past few weeks! I cry at so much stuff on the TV and in real life, I cried the other day because we had a dishwasher fitted and it turned the water from our taps a bit brown 😂 DH managed to get it back to normal.

I'm having my whooping cough jab on 10th feb 😊 I will be 21 weeks. I had my flu jab when I was 16 weeks as I thought I had to wait to get it done but my midwife told me I didn't.

Pegase · 26/01/2020 09:50

Apologies in advance for this but have just bought some 'full briefs' from Tu @ Sainsbury's, not my usual style ahem, and oh my goodness the comfort is amazing! Grin

peetieswie · 26/01/2020 09:53

I've been a bit grumpy but not overly emotional, so far! I'm surprised as I'm one of those people who if they get really tired, will cry because they're so tired! There's a hilarious mumsnet thread called 'ridiculous things you cried about while pregnant ' which is a good laugh

Blizy · 26/01/2020 10:10

pegase I'm still wearing my full
Briefs from my first pregnancy from 9 years ago 🙈😂

chocolate26 · 26/01/2020 10:27

@Pegase they sound amazing!! I really need to get some comfy big knickers 😃

APD1981 · 26/01/2020 10:30

I'm so ill! Help!

I felt under the weather on Thursday. Really bad headache and generally feeling of not being well. Came home from work early because I couldn't focus etc. Also have been having really bad hip pain.

Sore throat started on Friday and I thought it'd be the start of a cold. But, no signs of a cold yet, just a really bad throat that is making me ears sore too. I feel totally rotten and paracetamol isn't touching it. I'm going to go to Dr tomorrow (even though its probably viral) just to put my mind at rest but in the meantime, any tips on what I can do to help my symptoms? Only being allowed paracetamol is torture. I can hardly speak or eat because moving my tongue is agony. I'm so miserable. What can I do??

Rinoa · 26/01/2020 10:44

I'm getting my whooping cough shot on Tuesday. They told me to get it after 20 week scan. Anyone have side effects from it or is it like the flu jab?

I cried for no apparent reason when Landslide by Fleetwood mac played haha AND it was on an episode of South Park :D I seem to be ok now.

Watched a few episodes of One Born every minute, and DH said I shouldn't as it just adds stress lol

MissisBee · 26/01/2020 11:03

Whooping cough jab is currently recommended any time after 16 weeks. Sounds like the study may be seeing if there's a narrower window that's better. I had a really sore arm for a few days after, but otherwise fine.
Also still wearing my massive granny pants from last time!
In my MN bus last time, we all avidly watched One born every minute, I think the last episode I saw was the day I was admitted. Haven't been able to face watching anything about birth since, used to be a big fan of call the midwife too.

pizza97 · 26/01/2020 11:17

Just joining❤️ I'm due in June 2020 to! My 20 week scan is on Thursday, I bought some things over the weekend, but is this to early to of bought anything?!Confused

Zoey92 · 26/01/2020 11:35

Cornishbumpkin · 26/01/2020 11:43

@APD1981 sorry your feeling so rotten, it may be worth a check up with your GP cause they don't sound like standard cold symptoms.

Had my whooping cough at 16 week appt which was confusing as the poster behind the midwife said women can get it from 24 weeks lol

pizza97 · 26/01/2020 11:59

@Zoey92 hehe thank you! I'm 20 weeks on Monday, and had a private gender scan so already know we're having a little girl! And when I saw an outfit shopping over the weekend I couldn't help myself!! But now think oh shit I hope I've not bought ridiculously early haha!

Pegase · 26/01/2020 13:20

@chocolate26 you do need some- not sure I will ever have the willpower to go back to normal pants again! Confused

APD1981 · 26/01/2020 13:25

@cornishbumpkin thanks. I'm planning on going to the Dr tomorrow as it's my day off anyway. Unless I make a miraculous recovery in the meantime!

I had my whopping cough jab last Monday when I was 20+1. My midwife said from 16 weeks but the nurses at my surgery who do it said they prefer it from 20 weeks. I've felt crap since Thursday and I was told it can give you flu like symptoms so hoping the way I feel now isn't connected.

chocolate26 · 26/01/2020 13:38

@pizza97 I have been picking little bits up like clothes, blankets, socks and stuff since our 12 week scan but we have said we won't buy any big stuff until after our 20 week scan on 3rd Feb 😊

@APD1981 sorry you are feeling so ill 😔 it must be horrible having to deal with that on top of normal pregnancy symptoms. I hope the dr can help you tomorrow.

BabyBird20 · 26/01/2020 13:43

I think at the moment you can get whooping cough vaccine anytime but they've started offering it at 20 week scan clinics to try and increase uptake as apparently only 70% of women get it and the risks to newborns are horrendous! The study is looking at specific windows of 20 - 24 weeks, 24 -28 or 28-32 to see if they need to narrow it down and give a more specific window for pregnant women!!

Sorry you're feeling so rough @APD1981 have you tried hot lemon and honey? It helped soothe mine when I had a horrendous cold recently! But def get to the docs as they might be able to give you something more powerful!

chocolate26 · 26/01/2020 13:51

@BabyBird20 are there risks with having the whooping cough vaccine too early? My midwife told me she tells her patients to get it done after their 20 week scan. I had mine booked for 16 weeks but changed it after my midwife said this as it made me worry and think there must be a reason why.
