OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi Jser - I also have low blood pressure. Mine was 90/60 this morning at my 36 week appointment. The GP said it was probably the reason I have "low" days of feeling weak and useless and nauseous. I wonder if it might be the reason we had morning sickness symptoms for so long? I think you were in this club with me and Hersetta?

Sorry to hear you have not been feeling great. But congratulations on your LO turning in time. You must be so pleased.

Can't remember where you are having the baby - you are in London aren't you?

Hersetta · 03/08/2007 15:46

Not me I'm afraid Kite - no M/S at all for me and BP has been constantly the same at every ante- natal appointment. How dull I am!

JSER - congrats on your shifting baby. I'm not holding out any hope that mine will now shift as she is so big already the consultant said yesterday that the chances of her turning by herself were very slim.

JSer · 03/08/2007 15:49

Hi Kite
I definately get those kind of "low" days but my BP has always been normal till now. I'm not worried anyway - especially as I've started feeling better now!

Ru still working too? I'm in north east england - think i'm the only one up here! I work from home so shouldn't complain as no commuting or anything and stopped travelling to meetings a few weeks ago - now everyone comes to me!!

Hope my LO doesn't come too early as would like to get some pampering time in after stopping work!! Saying that has probably condemmed it to stay in forever and i dont want to be induced either!!

kiteflying · 03/08/2007 15:50

Hersetta are you trying any of the tricks for turning or are you happy to just look forward to the birth as it is?

I think I was probably confused (increasingly common) by the fact that our dates are close and you weren't in the extended M/S club at all. Maybe it was just me there all alone at five months?

kiteflying · 03/08/2007 15:54

Sorry Jser - cross posts. Yes, I am working up to 15 August.
Not bravely but greedily (money being an issue) if that makes sense.
Unless LO arrives before then but so far s/he has not even engaged so I am still hopeful of a full term baby in the last week of Aug/first week of Sept.
Working is rather a euphemistic term though, as the hardest thing I do all day is the commute in. And plenty of ante-natal appointments to take me out of the office as well.

Hersetta · 03/08/2007 15:57

Kite,

no real tricks from me - the sitting forward and being on all fours hasn't helped so am now accepting it will be a C/S. I think my worst nightware would be she turned and then went to terms and I had problems delivering due to her head size - currently way over 100 centile and then had to have an ecs.

I'm still working in the office till next Friday - though it is making me pretty tired and I'm not getting a seat most of the time on the tube (this morning as a prime example, a young girl in a priority seat looked at my bump twice and then went back to reading her newspaper - hope the bitch never gets offered a seat if she is ever 8 months pregnant in August!).

rant over

JSer · 03/08/2007 16:01

hee hee hersetta - sometimes it's good to be dull! think it's nice for the m/w to see an uncomplicated pg. yesterday she was just feeling my bump for ages and getting DH over to feel the head here...limbs here...etc i think it was a quiet day and she was bored!

Kite - I'm working for same reasons as you - money! was already pg when started this job so don't qualify for SMP. i'm finding it hard to concentrate...bought a bunch of second hand nappies online yesterday and am very easily distracted. it's panic that brings me back to focus on work...which i'd better do now!!

JSer · 03/08/2007 16:05

hersetta x-posts - not hee hee at evil people on the tube. that's so rubbish you still don't get a seat. maybe you should start cluthcing your stomach in a "i think i'm about to go into labour" kind of way - that might clear the area

kiteflying · 03/08/2007 16:12

Hersetta, I cannot believe that girl was so rude. I have people popping up as soon as they see me get on the carriage now, but I have been wearing quite fitted tops so the bump is OUT THERE.

As we are into stats today, here are those of us not due until the tail end of the month. Jser you kind of count as the middle, but I was curious as to who might be still working after our chat. I know katybird finished yesterday. I don't think we have heard from ludiloops or peanuthead in months have we? Or Maddison?

saturn · 03/08/2007 16:32

I finished last Thursday, I had planned on staying until two weeks before due date, but just couldn't manage it any more - especially the train journey, got a seat most of the time but if it was busy no one would give up their seat.

Have real admiration for those of you still working, I'm so glad not to be now

Hersetta · 03/08/2007 16:42

I know it's my own fault for wearing loose smock tops so I could just look extra fat, but I do have my baby on board badge as well. Am leaving early today (before 5pm) so hoefully the central line won't be so manic and I might get a seat. Can just about cope in the morning as it is still quite cool but by the evening the tubes have heated up to a very unpleasant level.

bananabump · 03/08/2007 16:47

Hersetta I can sympathise, even at 9 months pregnant nobody actually notices mine isn't just an enormous fat belly. I popped into waterstones earlier and was standing having a look at some baby books when this huge bloke suddenly forced his way behind me, knocking me into the shelf. I was standing side on to him prior to him bashing me so what can I say, the bump is just not highly visible. (Until you tell people, and then suddenly they can "see" it and it's huge!) lol

Had my eyebrows and hair done, although hairdresser wasn't too impressed when I changed my mind from having a wash, cut and blowdry to having "just a trim" but I saved myself £20, which I then spent on some nice pampering things for me and a funny book on Fatherhood for dp.

Treacletart, wow that's some news! The very best of luck with it, you'll be fine.

JSer- great news that baby has turned, amazing that they still can at this stage! Did you feel him turn at all? I imagine it'd be huge movements. I was a bit worried last night when baby was doing huge wriggles and kicks as if he was trying to move round (he's in the optimum position for birth!) I'm ashamed to say I put my hands on the bump slightly firmly to keep him where he was, and then rubbed his bum til he calmed down again. Am I mean? lol

Just put together a little labour bag for dp. I know he's getting a bit worried now. He's scared he'll get tired and be of no use to me/fall asleep and everyone will think he's a horrible person, bless him. I'm trying to reassure him but at the end of the day I have no idea what will happen myself!

I think I've scared him too by asking him to smother baby's bum in vaseline (so the meconium comes off easier) if he is asked to out the first nappy on/dress the baby. Pure fear flashed across his face, poor sod. The next fortnight is going to be an interesting ride, that's for sure!

Hope everyone's ok and enjoying the warm weather!

kiteflying · 03/08/2007 16:57

yes, it is being bumped into by impatient commuters that is actually more scary than anything about travelling at the moment. Londoners do seem to keep their heads down and their ears in theyr Ipods!

Babylovesmuffins · 03/08/2007 18:02

Congratulations Bresha! I'm glad you didn't give birth to a 16lb baby!! Vincent is a lovely name.

Have been doing some catch up reading and noticed you'd all been talking about average gestation periods... We were told at Hypnobirthing that most first babies are on average 10 days late and only 5% arrive on the due date!! We've also been told that we are under no obligation to accept an induction, as "full-term" can range from 37 to 42 weeks. I just heard about one couple today who went 16 days overdue!! (Don't quite fancy that much waiting myself - and their baby grew to 10lbs ). On the other hand, one of the couples from my Hypno class had their baby 4 days early and she only had a 2.5 hour labour!! I think I need to do some more rainbow relaxation exercises...

Have any of you ladies with breech babies tried moxibustion? Just a thought but apparently it's very effective. I can't remember if you'd already mentioned it Annie, or maybe it was you Hersetta??
I'm still not completely convinced that this LO is head down - especially after medical student last week said breech and midwife said head down.

I'm feeling a bit more organised today as DH and BIL put up all the bedroom furniture in the nursery, so I was finally able to sort stuff into drawers - and then realised just how many newborn nappies I've got !!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

mum2george · 03/08/2007 18:46

Hi everyone, haven't posted today because I've been in hospital. We had Emmeline Lucy at 2.45am All now at home and doing fine.

MrsBadger · 03/08/2007 19:03

Hurrah!

Congratulations, mum2george&emmeline!

we're really on a roll now...

Annie75 · 03/08/2007 19:20

Congratulations Mum2George . Did you have any inkling you were going to have a girl? In fact, anyone with a surprise waiting have any strong feelings? I've really started to think of mine as a girl, though we've been convinced it's a boy all along.

Muffins, yep, I tried moxibustion. Def stimulated the baby moving. Had to go to an acupuncturist to get the sticks and see how it worked, then we did it ourselves. Def get scanned if you're worried or unsure how the baby is positioned. No one seems particularly good at telling from palpating your stomach (I was told they were 90% sure it had moved and it hadn't).

Ooh, who's next?

itchyncsratchy · 03/08/2007 19:21

wow congratulations mum2george, that was a suprise one! Emmeline is such a gorgeous name. I'm guessing the birth was 'straightforward' as you're home so soon. Have a lovely weekend you lucky lady xx

I wonder where is conker...?

bananabump · 03/08/2007 19:22

Oh, fantastic mum2george! Love the name Emmeline, that's so sweet! When you get a second tell us how you got on, how big was she?

So pleased for you though, well done!

bananabump · 03/08/2007 19:25

boobooma · 03/08/2007 21:44

Hi folks

Congratulations mum2george and t'other 3 fabulous mammas.

Have been laptopless for a while again. Always takes a couple of hours to catch up. But well worth it to hear all the news.

I've been having fun and games with birth pool. I finally got it out of the box yesterday (as its only a couple of days off my deadline for being able to have a homebirth). So after having the hot water and emersion heater on for 4 hours in preparation spent 30 mins pumping up the bugger only to find one of the valves is completely missing leaving a big gaping hole and no means of pumping up part of the pool. Well, lately I have had a real gift with anger and made a really stroppy phonecall to the company demanding a replacement immediately. This morning a very apologetic woman phoned to sort it out and I felt a bit mean. Still, should be here on Monday. Hurrah. And DS thinks the pump is the bestest toy in the world (please dont break it). So Monday evening I will be trying out my pool with a cup of tea, chocolate and telly. Yum yum.
