Anyone suddenly feel HUGE! I don't know if baby has moved or what but I suddenly feel like a very pregnant woman! X

lanalawr · 15/10/2018 19:43

Oh my goodness @LookingAtTheStars89 ! I'm so glad you caught it early. Thank you for the reminders. I'm awful for not drinking enough and getting dehydrated and have been particularly bad the last week or so. This has given me a kick to try to hydrate a bit more.

24 week appointment for second/third/etc pregnancies seems to vary. I don't have one but my friend in a neighbouring health board did. I'm not sure what decides it. I rang the surgery on Friday to request my MATB1 and it was ready for me to collect today. In my area it's never done at an appointment (even in my first pregnancy).

@WonkyDonk87 I had to organise my jabs with the nurse separately to any midwife appointments.

lanalawr · 15/10/2018 19:46

In terms of gifts, most of what we got last time was clothes (mainly 0-3 or 3-6 months) and some stuffed toys. It was all gratefully received but a few items made their way straight to a local baby charity. I've got a couple of things that were never worn/worn once. I'm not sure you can tell people not to buy or what to buy unless they ask. Babies don't need a huge amount so if you've got some basics in smaller sizes and twice as many muslins as you think you need you should be fine!

clairehr · 15/10/2018 19:48

Baby being very quiet yesterday and today, only a couple of kicks which is weird 😔 been told not to worry as not yet 24 weeks, but it's so hard!

hayley013 · 15/10/2018 19:49

@IndiX I get leg cramps occasionally and an Epsom salt bath usually sorts it. I put a decent amount in though, good few big handfuls, it has magnesium in which I think is what helps.

@1stTimeTina yeah I'm getting BH already, I did from 24w with DD, so not far off this time, had them a week or so and 22w now. I usually get them mostly at night, bump goes soooo tight.

emalady · 15/10/2018 20:02

Wow! Can't believe you are having BH already. I'm still waiting for more regular / obvious kicks!

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 20:12

I've never had BH. Never got them with my first or so far? I hear it's not very pleasant x

hayley013 · 15/10/2018 20:45

@Yakadee it's not the greatest feeling to me haha, just goes super tight and rock hard for a minute or two, feels like my belly will just burst 😂

I remember being concerned it was happening so early with DD but I was assured it's normal for them to start anytime, yet others may not get them at all

DragonFlew · 15/10/2018 20:53

I've been trying to get hold of my.midwife for a week to get my matb1. Work were asking for it and I want to let them know about my maternity leave etc but after several.msssages no one is ringing me back. I tried making an appointment but they're fully booked for 4 weeks which will obviously be too late. I don't know what to do, gp surgery can't help and mw office is always empty!

Baby160P · 15/10/2018 20:59

Gift wise we have a nursery list with John Lewis and we log in and scan what we wish for. Anything not bought we will get but better to have things we wish for......

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 21:07

@DragonFlew - it's frustrating isn't it. I was able to make an appointment for Thursday morning but feel bad that I'll be taking up a space just for that. I'm worried now as nobody has mentioned it and then I thought about it earlier and suddenly, I need it now! 😩 x

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 21:13

@hayley013 - aww that sounds rubbish 😔

Since2016 · 15/10/2018 21:14

@yakadee I am HUGE. Someone I didn’t know (met for the first time today at work) said “ooh not long to go then!” 😡😡😡😡 I was like, actually 3 months+?!! SECOND BABY- this is my excuse for everything.

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 21:45

@Since2016 - I went out for lunch last weds and a guy at work said the same thing! I'm defo bigger now so much look ready to pop! It's my second too! Lol x

cw96 · 15/10/2018 21:45

Can anybody advise me please? I'm 23+1 and past few days I've randomly been burning up and felt like my face is on fire, I've noticed my urine is a lot darker yellow than usual and I've been extremely thirsty since day 1 but this thirstiness is on another level aswell as a dry mouth, I drink so much water literally all the time so I don't understand how I could be dehydrated?! didn't think anything of it until I googled and saw it could possibly be an infection??Confused I've not had to ring triage or anything before and wondering if this is a cause for concern or do I let it ride out? If if helps, I had the flu and WC jabs on Friday morning so thought maybe possible side effects I've not been told about? What do I do? First pregnancy so never know what the right procedure is! Thanks in advance for any advice etc

AliceRR · 15/10/2018 21:49

cw96 I would can mw or 111 if you are worried - that is always my advice but I am a worrier and like to have some reassurance x

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 21:57

I'd say it's best to get checked out. Could be something and nothing but best to go and be on the safe side. Hope you're feeling better soon x

Notquiteagandt · 15/10/2018 22:25

@1stTimeTina I have had braxton hicks quite few times from about 18w my whole bump contracts goes rock hard and I get pain in my whole bump. Only last few seconds then goes. Maybe does it a few times then goes away. Dr said they happen fairly regularily from about 16w we just wont feel them all or be aware of it. As I mentioned it as i was super worried how early they started.

GeriatricShmeriatric · 15/10/2018 22:27

@IndiX Yep magnesium definitely helps cramps. Echo the epsom salt bath suggestion / Epsom salts are magnesium sulphate & it works really well absorbed into the skin. Better than oral supplement coz you bypass the digestion as it can give you 'loose' bowels. A cup in a bath & soak for at least 15/20 mins or a foot soak also good if you can't be bothered with a bath. I also use magnesium oil - I buy it in a spray from amazon- works almost immediately rubbed into the muscle cramping. Magnesium also really good for general calming & a good nights sleep.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 15/10/2018 22:31

@Yakadee I didn’t think I got BH’s in my first two pregnancies, until a later appointment where the mw asked if I got many as she was measuring me, and I said none. She replied that I was having a strong one right then 🤷🏻‍♀️

I got them loads it turned out, I just didn’t really take any notice of them... 😂

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 15/10/2018 22:35

With regards to comments... I do really think it’s a case of pregnant women being over sensitive rather than people being rude.

We ARE huge! In comparison to a non pregnant person. There’s no getting around that.

We are also going to fatten up towards the end (that facial bloat in the last few weeks is particularly attractive 😂)

Don’t let these comments bother you as A, they’re not a big deal, and B, they’re probably true! Why stress?

Lulabell1 · 15/10/2018 22:44

Im super itchy all on my arm tops of my legs and iv just projectile vomited everywhere didnt make it to the toilet in time think i pushed myself too far today. Done a 12 hour shift and had a slice of toast all day loads of water though and really regretting it now.

Celebelly · 15/10/2018 22:58

My gran told me I was a 'big girl' the other day 😂😂 me and my DP joke a lot about it too (he called me ginormous today, although he claims he was taking about my height in relation to the dog 🤔🤔🤔) and I managed to trap him in a doorway as he was leaving to go to work as I misjudged the size of my belly 🙈

It's not something I personally get offended about as I am quite big I think for my first, but I actually feel really quite body confident right now because I don't have to worry about my tummy sticking out! And I'm pregnant so I'm going to have a big tummy - someone is living in it! But then I'm really laid back about stuff like this. I don't even care if people touch my bump (well not randoms in the street but people I know) as I know they're just doing it out of fondness or interest and it comes from a good place.

Since2016 · 15/10/2018 23:01

Don’t get me wrong - I AM big! I’m just struggling with it as compared to my first I’m at least double the size. So a bit self conscious about it!!!! I felt like this last time - although by comparison I don’t why I was worried - but I didn’t get to the “I’m massive and everything looks hideous” stage till around 30+ weeks so struggling with the fact it’s happenes so much earlier this time!!

I really popped early. I'm a bit concerned as DP is 6ft 4 and was a big baby. I didn't get any details from 20-week scan other than everything looked fine, so I don't know if baby is measuring big or what. I guess I'll find out at midwife appointment next week. But a few people have said that they thought I was further along and this is my first 😬😬😬
