Oooh can I join in? I'm due 30th Jan if that counts but its most likely to be February.

Both my sisters and I were enormous babies (11 lb 13 for the youngest) so I asked my midwife. She said you obviously had a 50:50 chance of genetics but since my DM gave birth naturally to all three of us then that counted more towards being able to cope than the size of us as babies.

Yakadee · 16/10/2018 15:08

@moonlight1705 - welcome! I'm due 3rd Feb so not far behind you!
Xx

Alicejj8x · 16/10/2018 15:43

Anyone else's bump starts to feel abit tighter here & there?

Yakadee · 16/10/2018 16:02

I'm feeling mega firm now! I'm not sure if baby has moved or what but defo feel like a pregnant lady! X

Alicejj8x · 16/10/2018 16:05

I googled it and apparently from 20 weeks you can get Braxton Hicks! And that's where your body is preparing for labour so they are fake contractions lol so think this Is what it is

DuchieBlonde · 16/10/2018 16:07

I’m def starting to get worried about how big baby will be. My niece and nephew came out at 10lb11 and 11lb8, my sister is tiny. My dad is very tall and big/long babies seem to run in the family. MIL had two ceseareans because my DH and his brother were too big for her small body, 9/10lb babies. Def starting to get the fear now 😬.
Have noticed that my bump has popped a lot over the last week and feels much firmer. A definite baby bump now and no longer just the podgy tummy look.

welshweasel · 16/10/2018 16:11

I feel like I’m carrying much higher this time round and yes, definitely feeling tighter.

Anyone else on second DC are you bigger this time?

I'm so much bigger. I'm the size is was at 8months pregnant with DD now! I know my bump was little and near last time, but this one is just huge.

Yakadee · 16/10/2018 16:44

@Thesnobbymiddleclassone - yes! Defo bigger this time, I showed a lot sooner too x

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 16/10/2018 16:49

So glad it's my just me!

I was able to just hide my bump last time. I'm not one of those who announces their pregnancy on social media or likes to parade a bump around. Just not my thing and I'm finding it harder to "dress it down" this time.

jojo895 · 16/10/2018 16:57

Hi everyone can I join? Due 8th February Smile

I'm getting the occasionally really tight feeling across my bump, I just thought it was baby moving but maybe it's BH!

I'm also worried about how big mine will be - I was only 6lb 2oz but my DP was 10lb 13oz... hoping my body will be able to cope if he/she is a bit bigger!

AliceRR · 16/10/2018 17:16

I read it’s normal to get bigger sooner in second or subsequent pregnancies as your body knows what to do and does it faster!

hayley013 · 16/10/2018 17:27

@Thesnobbymiddleclassone I'm defo bigger this time round. At 22w I'm about the same size as I was at 28w with dd.

Defo feeling the tightness, lots at night. Starting to get organised to move mid-November so think it may be related to being on the go all the time too x

Surprisedmom · 16/10/2018 17:31

Regarding baby size I think a lot of places don’t print the 20wk scan perecentiles (I specifically asked to see them on screen since they didn’t) and at that point babies haven’t gained much fat so I think it would only be a worry if their head/shoulders were very big. My mum (who is tiny and had a 9lb10 fourth baby) said ‘fat babies squish on the way out so fat isn’t a problem it’s big heads or shoulders that are’.

welshweasel · 16/10/2018 17:34

I’m deffo bigger (see pic above!). I’m 24 weeks and a similar size to when I was 28 with DS1. Actually feeling pretty good at the moment though. I never got huge with DS1, he was tiny and born at 35 weeks so kind of hoping I get to the massively fat pregnant stage this time round!!

Got my midwife appointment tomorrow to get my MAT1B - had HR on at me to finialise dates this week so that will keep them happy!

Celebelly · 16/10/2018 17:37

God my bump is huge and I'm not even 24 weeks yet AND it's my first Blush

Since2016 · 16/10/2018 17:56

I’m massive. At least double the size I was last time. I looked like this at 30 weeks 😳 is usually v flat tummied so it was pretty apparent v quickly according to my team!

Defintely showed much much faster and much bigger this time than last!

Oh and suddenly in the last few days non stop movement - made me jump earlier when I saw her kick out of the corner of my eye. A massive relief as I had movement a lot earlier with DD. Possibly because of anterior placenta and being fatter this time 😳😳😳😫

Those of you worried about big babies - there is a school of thought that says that a bigger baby can be easier to give birth to because there's more to push against. I'm not convinced any of the small/large baby stuff is completely true (unless there is a reason they physically won't fit). I think it depends more on the way the baby is lying and how relaxed you are (not necessarily in a hippy/hypnobirthing/meditation way).
I have a friend who found her second labour more painful and that was her smaller baby by 2.5lbs. Someone else I know swears by hypnobirthing and had a great experience. I had a back to back first baby and virtually no pain (until the stitches) with no real preparation or plan other than minimal pain relief if I could. On the other hand I know others who had emergency c sections, some of whom recovered surprisingly quickly. Just luck of the draw as far as I'm concerned.

emalady · 16/10/2018 18:10

I am starting to wonder if I'm having braxton hicks, my bump is definitely getting harder and a bit sore at times. I thought the kicks would be much stronger before BH started.

Alicejj8x · 16/10/2018 18:17

Ladies who have had their 20 week scans

On your notes what was your babies Cerebellum measuring at?

bubblybrit · 16/10/2018 18:53

@Alicejj8x. Mine says 21.1mm. Not idea what it all means though as it’s my first but was told that everything looks absolutely fine at 20 week scan

Alicejj8x · 16/10/2018 18:57

@bubblybrit
Thank you for checking :) I just had a little panic lol I had my 20 week scan like a few weeks ago now and I was just looking back over my notes and my friends and comparing which I shouldn't do as all babies grow diff
And noticed the Cerebellum was on the 20th percentile but was measuring 19.3mm so my auntie is a sonographer and I sent her my notes and she said it's perfect and as long as it's over the 5th percentile that's all they worry about xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/10/2018 19:10

I wouldn't worry about size of babies too much, my DH was 9lb 15 Confused and I was over 8lb. DS was only 7lb 13 though despite being mega long.

Ugh I've got the worst headache today, I'm going to have dinner and go to bed Sad

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/10/2018 19:11

Oh and I feel huge too! My bump is so much bigger than with DS, I'm 21+6 and it only popped at 22 weeks last time! Whereas this time it was before 18!
