We have our first 5 month scan coming up - really makes me feel like we're getting there

tonysmum · 12/06/2007 11:33

hi all and welcome new members
Thank you all for your advice regarding the house move, I will try to get things rushed a bit to be able to move before the birth.
Pinklady, I am very lucky with my DS (2.10), he sleeps like a log but he is also very active during the day, my only advice would be to make sure he gets plenty of fresh air and running around during the day.

sparklygothkat · 12/06/2007 11:42

ooooooo a shiny new thread!!

RGPargy · 12/06/2007 12:02

Sparkle sparkle!!

How typical is it that i am last on the list for scans? I dont know why, but our hospital does them at 22 weeks, not 20. Bloody buggers!

Pixiefish · 12/06/2007 12:06

Just signing in. Expecting the midwife round in half an hour- am being apranoid that I haven't felt the baby move yet and after the amnio I am even more paranoid so I have rung her and she's calling over to hopefully hear the baby's heart.

My last pregnancy was so trouble free and easy and I am having nothing but trouble with this one . I hope it's a sign that I have an easier labour

purplepants · 12/06/2007 13:33

Hope all goes well Pixiefish. FWIW DD was a dream pg then DS was a nightmare (all that testosterone!). This one is lovely again which is one of the reasons I think I'm having another DD.

RGPargy · 12/06/2007 13:50

I'm sure everything will be fine, Pixiefish.

choudru · 12/06/2007 13:53

Good luck pixie - nice of your MW to do home visits!

Don't worry too much honey - we're all thinking of you hugs

Pixiefish · 12/06/2007 15:42

It was ok- eventually- took her a while to find the heart though

This one is soooo awkward.

I think if I hadn't had the amnio I wouldn't have worried.

MW is lovely and is rarely at the surgery as she is out on the road most days but agree it was nice of her to pop over

purplepants · 12/06/2007 16:14

Pixiefish I'm so pleased you've had your mind put to rest- your scan's next week I see - you going to find out the sex? I'm very tempted but DH isn't here so we'll just have to have a surprise

Bearus · 12/06/2007 16:30

So sorry have been absent since I introduced myself aeons ago! Have been following all your progress though and lurking a fair bit as I keep flicking to Word so that boss doesn't see.

Can I add myself to the list? Still getting the hang of this board so hope this works!

Glad that most of us are feeling a bit more human these days. Am still feeling nauseous some days. It disappeared with DD at 13 weeks so am a bit peeved this time.

Pixiefish · 12/06/2007 16:46

hi Bearus

Purplepants- I should have been told the sex with the amnio so I may well hang on adn find out for deffo when the next set of amnio results come through- that would be mroe definitive.

Dh wants to know, I didn't but have changed my mind I think. I don't want dh to know though cos he will tell everyone and i really don't wnat the world and his wife knowing.

Mind you i have a boy's name in mind but can't for the life of me think of a girl's so wonder whether it's a boy.....

Also this beggar has been so awkward and a different pg to dd that i wonder if it is a boy

AnnainNZ · 12/06/2007 19:47

Pixiefish, I'm still not feeling much from the baby - nothing at all most of the time - feel the odd pop which I've decided must be the baby but it really doesn;t feel that definite to me so it's not just you not feeling the kicks.

My scan is now 19th June and I'm definitely finding out the sex, I'm far too impatient to wait another 20 weeks when I only have to wait 6 days!

Going to see a specialist obstetrician at the hospital tomorrow as I have high bp (had it before I was pg) and they want to keep an eye on it. All has gone so well so far (apart from that horrible nausea and tiredness in the first trimester) that I'm not stressing about it - stress will only raise my bp anyway! I feel really really well at mo so no point worrying about pre-eclampsia (which I have 3 of the risk factors for - 35, first pg and pre-existing high bp!)

Pixiefish · 12/06/2007 20:06

good luck for tomorrow Annain- does it make it easier to control now that they know you have high bp? At least they know what they're dealing with.

Good luck for tomorrow x

er... you know yesterday I said that I was worried because I had only put on a lb in weight and only weighed 7st 8 1/4oz??? Well today I weighed myself again and I'm 7st 9 3/4oz!!!! How the hell did that happen!!!???

AnnainNZ · 13/06/2007 03:42

SGK I think I put on about 3 lb overnight at one point so I wouldn't worry about 1 1/2 lb. 7 st 9 lb...dont' think I've been that since I was about 14!

Pixiefish, yes the bp is all being controlled, I was on medication for it before the pg, my dotor changed the medicine to one that is safe(r) in pg and I'm only on a low dose. I think going to see the specialist is just a precautionary thing, as I've had no probs so far and am really enjoying the pg (apart from that head down the toilet bit, obviously). It does mean I've been advised to finish work earlier than people usually are, at about 28 weeks, which I have no problem with! Been very busy at work and the thought of having a couple of months before the baby's born to sit around and watch Dvd's/read books is heaven...

Pixiefish · 13/06/2007 08:27

fab Annain. Work have asked me to carry on until the baby is here nearly
I work 1/2 a day a week so I have said that I will.

sparkly- I can have massive differences in weight depending on when I weigh myself

So, I lost track of the last thread a bit, am I the only one who has already put on 10 lb? I'm 5'6" and was 10 stone to start with so it is not as though I need to gain a lot! Am I going to be huge??

RGPargy · 13/06/2007 10:35

Morning everyone!

Had a midwife appointment this morning and all is fine and dandy here

Heard my baby's heart beat too (eventually), which was 156bpm. He/she kept hiding from the doppler so the MW had to delve around a bit to find it. It was great to hear it tho - i didn't know we would be listening to the heartbeat so it was a lovely surprise.

My MW also said that i could actually have a homebirth if i wanted (my consultant said no) so i'm going to mull it over. The last thing i want is to be flat on my back on a table like i was with DS1.

Feeling very well and as the title of this post suggests, quite blooming too!!

How is everyone today?

AnnainNZ · 13/06/2007 10:57

Glad your appointment went so well RG. First time I heard the heartbeat I didn't know it would be happening either - it was a lovely moment, put me on a real high.

Feeling very well, just tired at mo(10pm here). Day off work tomorrow, yay.

RGPargy · 13/06/2007 11:17

It's not the first time i've heard the heartbeat, but i just didn't expect to hear it at this appointment. But yes, it's fabulous isn't it!

I was also told that i feel the right size for my stage and i'm not feeling too big, according to the MW, which was a relief too.

Yay for days off!! It's my day off today (i told work a white lie about my appointment time). I'm also off to see our solicitor today to sign the papers for our house purchase so that's really exciting too!

MrsJetson · 13/06/2007 12:04

Hi to all - old and new!!

It seems like forever that I was on here - only a few days.....how sad is that!!

Pixie - what are you like?? I think I shall send DHL to you with a truck load of cotton wool to wrap you up in!

Sparkly!! DHL are on their way to you too with a truck load of chocolate!

I shouldn't worry about weight at this stage - all of mine have completely differed up until the 8 month - and then it all goes on. I was exactly the same with teh boys and only 1lb different with DD.

Right then hope you are all sitting VERY comfortably as I have a story to tell!

As most of you know we are flying this weekend for a few weeks in the UK to move into the new house! Horray - although we have to spend 10 days with my mother until we get the keys - not so hooray! Sister announced she was taking time off work to help - oh bugger so no hooray!! She really has NO idea about kids! DH will only be in the UK for 5 days before coming back here.

A bloody so called 'counsellor' at DS1 and 2's school told us yesterday that I should have the baby HERE (is she insane???????) or if I couldn't face that I should leave my boys here for 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bloody bloody hell! Soooooo angry! She gave us all the buzz words which annoy the hell out of me just to make us feel like she was 'on our side'. Anyway I put my foot down and said not a bloody chance! My poor little men - they are so little still - that would really confuse them. So what the hell do I do now?? I feel so guilty that I am taking the kids away for last 3-4 months of the year - but they are so little we have always made an adventure out of travelling all of the time. Why do these people make you feel like a really bad parent even thought they have massive grins on their faces???

THEN a husband approached and heard that I was going back to have the baby in 6 weeks time - he looked at me and said 'you certainly look ready to pop!'

If I get the hang of putting photos on here I will put my bump on! I am ENORMOUS - although I have only put on half a stone, I am in the same clothes as I was with DD at 7 months!!!!!! I keep saying to myself that it's because this is number 4 in as many years so of course I have absolutely no muscles left in my tummy! I'm hoping to God it disappears afterwards otherwise I'm off to Harley St for a tummy tuck!!

So with regards to the weather in the UK - should I be packing snowsuits or bikinis?? 4 more days of MN for 2 months - I think I might have to rethink that one!!

Enjoy the sun girls....xx

sparklygothkat · 13/06/2007 12:08

Hi MrsJ, Re. the weather, pack everything, the weather keeps changing lol!!

Some people say I'm huge for 19 weeks, others say I am small I will have to put a pic up too.
