Now that there a new thread I'll pop back in to say Hi! Thanks for all your good wishes about the scan - I just haven't had the opportunity to post since it happened.

Well, it kind of went well... In that there is a good strong heartbeat so thats great. I'm about 8+2 tomorrow instead of the 9wks I thought so they weren't able to see any sign of the abnormality. They would like to wait another 2 weeks and try again, so with xmas that means next scan is on the 3rd Jan. So, it was neither good or bad as far as the genetic problem is concerned. My odds are still 25% that its occurred.

On the positive note though, it was lovely to see the little bean and to see its heart going like the clappers!

I haven't had much chance to read back, but welcome to the newcomers! Its a great chatty bunch here isn't it

3flights - Sorry you've had a bad experience re: your situation. I'm really shocked by the insensitivety. My odds of a problem are much higher than yours and the only person who has brought up the subject of termination is me. The medical staff have been really really supportive and helpful. I just wish you were having something similar.

Good luck to those with MS - just wish there was an easy answer to it all

kyte, I would say that I would only buy 2 for now and see how you go in the next few weeks. I would prob buy sports bras from marks and sparks you can pick up a double pack for under £20 I think. HTH. (She says but i havent been in the uk for 3 years so prices may have gone up.... ) I am normally a 38 d/dd in my last pg I went to a 44 G/H!!! With my first I went from a B to a DD...

snowytyphoonsmum · 14/12/2006 18:16

Finally had the scan. There was a heartbeat - or so the sonographer said just looks like black and white smudges. I am officially 7 weeks and 4 days. EDD 29 July.
Maybe having my uniform on wasn't a good idea as the sonographer wrote a very descriptive scan report. Describing corpeus luteum and and area that might be a bleed but they weren't concerned. It panicked me. The consultant wanted to see me but they said it was nothing to worry about she sees all staff members that come thru.
Anyhoo the consultant was busy so I saw a head midwife who said she had shown the scan report to the cons and she said it was all bull and I shouldn't pay any attention to it. Anything she had seen was perfectly normal for seven weeks.
I have a 3d scan at 12 weeks, a 20 week anomoly scan and a 28 week 4d scan. (Staff perks no other reason)
I have two little pictures but it just looks like a smudge and a load of reading to do.

ChristmasCakehead · 14/12/2006 19:12

Good to hear the scans are going well. I had mine today - am 11+6 - and was all OK too. Could see the heartbeat, the two halves of the brain, a black hole for the stomach (just like mum) and little feet and hands. Got some nice pics too. Suddenly made it all seem very real.
Also broke the news to work and everyone's been nice about. It seems there's been a few rumours, due to increased bust size and waist thickening. That's what happens when you work with women (the men never notice...).

twoplusone · 14/12/2006 19:14

Glad the scans went well.

earlyriser · 14/12/2006 19:16

Yeah found you lot again! Was just about to reply to twoplusone when i was told it was too full. Re soup for tea, i gave my dd ready brek for tea last night just had no energy to make anything else. she wolfed it down!

ChristmasCakehead · 14/12/2006 19:20

MMmmm. Ready Brek....

twoplusone · 14/12/2006 19:52

feel a happier now DH has just phoned .. but we used all our time as he only gets 30 mins a week. But never mind. Have told him to get onto the email and send me some emails.
He just kept laughing at me and calling me his baby taxi......

Miaou · 14/12/2006 20:23

lol at baby taxi!

In answer to your question about how the girls are taking this pregnancy, twoplusone, they are very happy about it. I was a little apprehensive of how dd1 would take it as she really values her space and peace, but she is quite happy. She did say she hoped this would be the last one though!!! (I had no hesitation in agreeing with her on that!!). Dd2 is another story - she wants several more brothers and sisters but she'll just have to make do with the one more ! (assuming it's not twins )

twoplusone · 14/12/2006 20:45

lol... I wonder if any of us do have twins....

JennStarOfWonder · 14/12/2006 22:37

Hi folks

Had my scan yesterday and am a week less pregnant than I thought I was so today am 8+4 and due 22 July. I couldn't face travelling all the way back to work for 2.5 hours so told work I puked as I walked out of the hospital. Luckily the locum covering me didn't mind staying.

Bubble am in Preston and was given my scan date at the same time my community midwife dropped off my booking info. My scan date was a week after my booking, but think I only got my scan so early because I haven't had a period since April last year so they wanted to make sure I wasn't too pregnant. Have you had any contact with a midwife yet?

There was only one little shrimp in there with a heart going like the clappers, but don't get my next scan until 7th March. Am quite disappointed as didn't get to see anything like last time.

Polarbeartime · 14/12/2006 22:50

Phew glad someone started a new thread - got a bit scared then when I tried to write to the last one and it said its too big for new messages!

3flights - the whole trimester thing confuses me too, and the 40wk 9mth thing doesn't add up to me. I was really good at Maths at school, but I still can't work it out! Sorry about your phone call. I still remember last pregnancy when my maternity exemption certificate came thru and it said 'if your baby is still born...' etc. - encouraging huh?

Gingertoo of not knowing you are pregnant! I always wished that would happen, then wouldn't have as many days of worrying! Congratulations!

Hi Bread and Roses! - Wow we have loads of people now!

Twoplusone - i'm PRAYING for twins, not panicking about them! In fact even had a dream the other night that I had two fat little baby boys! But we don't have any twins in the family so much less chance. They do say that 1 in 80 live births are twins - so with the amount of people on this thread now that must make the chances of someone having twins quite big surely?

Chooster - glad you saw a heartbeat!

Kyte - I bought a couple of new bras last pregnancy. I like wearing t-shirt bras so I had a bit of a problem getting any that were not underwired but M&S sell quite a few non-wired bras, and the second time I got a bra I go an underwired t-shirt bra from Matalan and just took the wire out - really easy. The cheap was just as good as the expensive from what i remember. With nursing bras you might want to get a nicer one though because the straps are more supportive and comfy then. And re: sizes I went from 32AA to 34A to 38B for nursing. As for morning sickness, i think some people get it worse in the morning because it can be related to low blood sugar from not eating all night. Last preg I was always really nauseaus first thing till i ate then I was fine the rest of the day.

Typhoonsmum - what is a 4D scan and hows it different from a 3D scan? - don't quite understand that - its like economics - can't get my head around it!

Glad all the other scans went well!

snowytyphoonsmum · 15/12/2006 06:53

Not sure what the difference is between 3d and 4d I just know you get to see the babies face and expression and things.

twoplusone · 15/12/2006 07:40

Morning, I looked up my old pg thread from June 04 in the full pg we had under 900 posts. I read through last night and covered my whole pg and labour with DS!!! lol.

If only things past that quickly. I am so impatient. I want to look pg properly and to be able to feel the baby moving etc.

Boobs have stopped hurting, the nipple is always out which not normally and that is sensitive.

polarbeartime- the 40wk 9month confuses me sometimes too, but hey it works it self out in the end. Just there to confuse us pg wpmen further.!!!

Aunty her hubby and babs are arriving tommorrow for 1 night so really excited, need to get house ready for them though....

Wow on our second thread already!

Not been posting for ages - I keep having a look every so often but haven't found the energy to actually type anything for a while. Things are a bit too hectic for my liking with all the Christmas things to do, plus I had parents to stay and then ds gave me his conjunctivitis and cold. Last night I kept coughing and was getting belly pains every time I coughed; I was convinced I was going to cough the baby out(!) and got really gloomy about all the people I have told, thinking I would have to tell them the bad news - but all seems OK again this morning.

Glad people's scans are all going well. I have booked my private nuchal one as here you only get a 20-week one with NHS; the earliest date they could do was 18th Jan which seems like forever away. I will be 13 weeks then which is nearly the limit so I hope the dates are correct!

Yes twoplus one I really want to start looking pg too, getting fed up with hiding the fact I've got my old fat post-birth jeans on. Time seems to be dragging and I can't believe I'm only 8 weeks...

cazzybabs · 15/12/2006 10:03

ell don't forget the 40 week thing is calcuated from the last day of your monthy period so really it is 38 weeks - so thaty is about 9 months bearing in mind months are actually longer than 4 weeks (months are not 28 days long)

abgirl · 15/12/2006 10:08
