I'm guessing 'knickersniffer' or similar isn't what you were thinking.....

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 22:33

LMAO, no something a little less identifiable would be best me thinks!!

I have just had the most painful contraction I have had since this all started, please everyone cross your fingers for me, the longer I have this thread hanging around my neck the longer people will remember it in the years to come!!

Oh NJ, I have to say I do really feel for you...you've been a star all the way through and always around to chat to, it just seems such a shame that you've had to go through sooo many contractions already....maybe that's your curse for being so helpful to everyone else, you can't disappear on me just yet...need your sense of humour and kind words...you never forget to respond to someone and I think that all the girls really do hope it happens sooner rather than later for you - your poor DH must be a nervous wreck by now too!!!!

How is DS this evening, starting to pick up yet?

NatalieJane · 23/11/2006 22:56

Oh my, I don't know where to put my face!! Thank you, that was very kind but I really don't deserve it, there are so many on here that have helped me through the seemingly endless sleepless nights and been just as excited and pissed off with me along the way!

Sorry I took a while to get back though, was doing his medicines, I feel like a right proper little nurse maid!! He is picking up in the day a bit, but night time is bad bad bad, just constant coughing and that achy feeling, he is so bored of being on the sofa now as well he is really looking forward to getting back to school, he never stops asking when he can go back etc. Poor little mite, he has had a shitty time of it this week.

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 24/11/2006 08:46

May be a bit of progress today - Baby has not moved as much this morning - I've been getting a few twinges throughout bump and the need to empty my bowels (TMI I know). I seem to be getting contractions that go straight up from bum to top of bump... not regular or prolonged - but I'm keeping an eye on them. Continual backache and feeling like I'm about to start a period.

Feel a bit tired and fluey as well.. oh and some good - news - Cat is much better and following me around in the hope I'll give him extra food - he looks so much more perky, no droopy ears or face like a smacked bum.

Anyhow - will keep you posted

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 08:58

It sounds like nearly everyone is getting some sort of sign of things to come

DH is home for at least this morning, we have managed to get DS an appointment at the doctors for 12 o'clock, he is no better, cough is worse, still running a high temp when the calpol wears off etc. so time to get him MOTed I think. I am going to take advantage of DH being home and go and catch up on some sleep, I have managed about 4 hours since Sunday night so I wouldn't mind making that up to 6!!

Nothing really to report baby wise, I am getting the odd very painful contraction, but nothing regular, along with the normal back ache and pressure everywhere, pretty much a normal day!!

See you all later, hoping for some news soon xxx

feel so p*ed off had lots of pain backache contractions everything now its gone to nothing, and dh has gone to work, cried my eyes out this morning and practically begged him not to leave me,but as he said he is only a ten min drive away. But thats not the point i have had hardly any sleep, uncomfy and in pain. just feel so upset today.

Kaybee7777 · 24/11/2006 11:09

morning
had something weird (and quite gross ) happen in the shower just before... a sudden gush of water from you know where and when i looked down it looked browny and a bit gloopy (sorry tmi), so i am wondering if it was a show. Unfortunately it disappeared down the plughole before i could examine it...
Am seeing midwife soon for another sweep so will see what she thinks about it all i guess.

DebbsyandBibby · 24/11/2006 11:15

kaybee sounds promising good luck.
hg make sure you drink loads of water with fybogel as it can solidify in your bowels,if you dont.
nj hows ds

harrogatemum · 24/11/2006 11:41

Hi Ladies - I posted over on the other thread but see you have moved! I am looking for some advice.......have had a nightmare night - had constant agonising pains all over abdomen from about 9pm to about 4am. I didnt want to go into the hospital as it was like the pains I had a month ago when I went in and they told me I was contracting but not in labour - it wasnt coming and going it was just all the time.

Finally got to sleep at 4am and woke up with no pains. Great. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I wonder if its totally unrelated to pregnancy, like my stomach, or intestines or something? Am v constipated so wonder if that has something to do with it (sorry TMI).

harrogatemum · 24/11/2006 11:41

and thanks to Debbsy who has already given me advice on the other thread and on this one!

saralou100 · 24/11/2006 12:10

lol, nj, can't believe your still here and can't believe you did the thread title!!! pmsl when i saw it!! definitely time to take your ds to the dr's, he's been poorly all week now isn't it? i hope he gives him some magic medicine to make it all better

harrogatemum... constipation can be really painful sometimes (12 days no pooing was my record) fybogel isn't always the best thing if your already bunged up as it works by bulking up poo, what you probably need is a stool softner like lactulose.. you can also take senna at the same time (although only take one) as this is a bowel stimulant and encourages your bowel to work!! hth.

goodluck rest of you ladies with 'signs'!! me, i'm sat here with nothing, just a big fat belly and feeling like nothings gonna move it!! x

Quootiepie · 24/11/2006 12:16

Kaybee- sorry, was having a broody lurk - did you phone midwife? It might be your waters with meconium(baby poo) in them, in which case, you will need monitoring....I had the same

Kaybee7777 · 24/11/2006 12:23

thanks quootiepie, i just saw the mw who said it was most likely show, and she did another sweep for me.
So hopefully this time we might have some action!

Quootiepie · 24/11/2006 12:24

oh, ok- good luck! {{hugs}}

saralou100 · 24/11/2006 12:37

ooh, just had another thought harrogatemum about your constipation... (yes i'm sitting here thinking about pooing problems) try raising your feet when when sitting on the toilet so your knees are higher than your hips... this puts you in a squatting position and is a more natural position for you to open your bowels! i have one of those childs stools you can get from mothercare in my loo constantly and don't like to poo without it, it does help. honest!!

i'm missing work obvoiusly, it's been a while since i had a poo conversation (we're obsessed with bowels their!)

NatalieJane · 24/11/2006 13:33

LOL Sara, never dare me to do anything, especially a double dare, how is a girl supposed to resist??!! No seriously, I thought the momentuous occasion deserved a proper marking down in MN history!!

The doctor gave DS some penicillin, and said to carry on as we were really. oor little thing, he is really feeling it today, I think the getting up and out has really taken it out of him.

I have a lovely cold, no where near as bad as DS, but just feeling shitty with it, as you do with ac old, and DH has started with a sore throat so it looks like it is doing the rounds.

Debbsy, I don't know what to say to make you feel better, and I have been through this I don't know how many times now, all I can say is at least you are safe in the knowledge that something is happening. Every contraction now is counting towards the birth of your baby, try to keep that in mind Have you got a friend you could meet for a coffee or something? Take your mind off of it for a bit? Or go and have a nice long bath while the contractions aren't happening, take a book in with you and don't get out until you have topped up with hot water at least twice

I can't help with anyone elses problems I am afraid, hoping the second sweep will get things moving for Kaybee though

Hi again

Hope all is well with everyone (I can't keep up with all these posts) - I have no trouble with Poo - I haven't been constipated at all - although my fondness for wholemeal bread (refuse to eat white at moment) probably helps.

Not sure what is going on with me at moment - baby has moved a little but nowhere near as much as usual and my bump keeps going tight - doesn't really hurt - although backache still pronounced. Still the occasional twinge. Feel very restless but tired.

Ah well, I'm got a new bookcase to fill so I'll just do that to keep me occupied - have to go to corner shop/post office as well - but it's raining - and occasionally going torrential so I don't really fancy it. Still the walk will do me good.

Hope everyone else has a nicer day.

calsworld · 24/11/2006 14:23

Well, I'm having a much better day today - probably at the prospect of mum and dad arriving tonight, it will be the first time i've seen them properly since June as the last visit got cancelled coz grandad was poorly...

Now have just got loads of cleaning and tidying to do before they get here...39 weeks today and still the house is an absolute tip and NO sign of any serious nesting instinct....

Off to see if i can find a local secondhand bookshop to take my ridiculously huge collection of books....

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 24/11/2006 15:36

Hello again

DP was so concerned about me he has just sent a neighbour round to see how I am - I did try calling him earlier (just felt like a chat) and he didn't reply. I haven't heard my mobile ring at all today (mainline is redirected to his business during the day) must be the weather interfering with th signal. Apparently my mum, both my sisters, a work colleague and several friends have felt the urge to call me today. As for myself I feel quite chilled - have a few things on the go (washing, laundrey, bookcase refilling and some photos I felt like tidying) - not being very consistant about finishing one thing before moving on to the next though. Decided we're having curry tonight as I really can't be arsed to cook.

Tightenings are becoming a little more noticeable as is baby's lack of movement. I have to call MW if it doesn't get ten in by 5/6 o'clock. I've only felt one distinct baby movement and about three or four wiggles so far.

Feel sick as well - although that could be because I don't feel like eating much. Every time I go to loo I have to poo (sister is nurse and reckons that's a sign). Still have to go to Post office and thanks to phonecalls - looks like I'll be going out in downpour. We have a severe storm warning here for tonight as well, always felt that baby would be born in a tempest...Just the sort of dramatic effect a child of mine would plan.

Ah well - see what happens I suppose. Although I'm not feeling that concerned at the moment - quite a nice feeling actually.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

Look after yourselves - LA
