Second trimester... eek! Hippo, I can't believe there is a June thread, when I joined I remember looking at the march and feb threads to see what we had in store for us (and to see when the ladies there stopped feeling sick) - surreal to think we're now so far along!

I've got my scan tomorrow morning, I am very nervous. Had a horrid dream last night that I had a miscarriage Sad Still, we've had such lovely scan news on this thread so I'm hoping that I can add to it tomorrow!

Feeling so much better these last few days, still exhausted but much less sick - hoping this is a sign of things to come! I can actually stomach eating proper meals with - gasp - vegetables in, rather than potatoes / plain pasta / plain toast. Am also craving fruit - grapes, apples, raspberries, blueberries, you name it I'm probably chomping on it.

Thinking of you all, will try and post more now I'm feeling less terrible!

Oh, that's a thing - has anyone else noticed that they're waking up from sleeping on their side? I usually sleep on my front or on my back, and never wake up on my side, but for the last few days that's where I've ended up. It's really weird!

Lauren82000 · 28/09/2014 18:31

Yes and my hip already aches. It's starting to feel uncomfortable when I'm on my front. Not even got a bump yet still bloat but I guess everything is all bunched up and lying on it puts extra pressure on it or something.

On a side note think I can definitely feel my uterus now.

I'm really hungry for something sweet and we have nothing in. Might have to make some biscuits when DD has gone to bed. It's that or walk to the shop and get a big bar of chocolate.

Chococroc · 28/09/2014 18:34

Thank for the new thread. I don't post much but always here reading.

littleluna - my scan is also on Thursday, you're in Norwich too right?

minipie · 28/09/2014 18:37

Ooh new thread! Hurrah for the second trimester - this is the nice bit, where we stop feeling grim, get to tell people and be excited and aren't too huge and terrified of birth yet Grin

brixton good luck, I am sure you'll be fine!

annia I think after about 16 weeks it's recommended to avoid sleeping on your back because the baby's weight can squish the blood supply, or something? So maybe your body is just getting ready early...? As I recall sleeping on left side is meant to be ideal (later on in pg) but can't remember why.

BonjourMinou · 28/09/2014 18:40

Hello!

I don't post much either but always read! I'm usually too tired, also my life just isn't that interesting Wink

Still hanging out on the sofa of worry and.. #scanxious.

Very jealous of all you ladies that have had yours already!

Still... 10+6 today. Getting there! x

lila35 · 28/09/2014 18:43

Blimey...second trimester!!! Can't believe it!!!!

littleluna89 · 28/09/2014 18:48

choco yes, I am, my scan's at 9am. How about yours? The letter says to expect the appointment to take 2-3 hours!

I am a front sleeper, but it's starting to get uncomfortable, it's slowly shifting into a side sleep, but either way I'm sleeping badly, I am relying on the small amount of time I get between DH getting out of bed and DH waking DD up due to his fairy-elephant footsteps to try and get some quality sleep in! He got himself a mouthful for coming in and waking me up earlier to ask how I was feeling, and butting in with "Don' say exhausted" before I had a chance to growl "exhausted" at him, I wouldn't mind but it was 9am and DD was away at mums so I had until 12 to sleep and he woke me up anyway >.>

Chococroc · 28/09/2014 18:53

luna - mine is in the afternoon, tagged onto my fortnightly clinic appointment. I've not had a letter as it was arranged while I was there last.

How is everyone doing at eating healthily? My meals are mostly but my snacks are terrible. I think underlying anxiousness is making me crave the faithfull comforts!x

Hello! Found you all!

minipie · 28/09/2014 19:48

um... I have eaten a LOT of butter during this pregnancy so far Blush my favourite snack is crackers with a thick layer of butter. Need to find something healthier!

Lauren82000 · 28/09/2014 19:53

Chilliplant this week I have been really good, I finally had a bit of energy so I cooked from stretch every night except the night we did pizza out the freezer (and it tasted like ass so only managed 2 slices) discovered some new recipes I'd certainly try again and some that just need a tweak. Had baked ratatouille and sausages, butternut squash and chilli soup, baked chicken in tomato sauce and lasagne. Think we had fajitas too but they did have red pepper in so that counts. Oh and tonight I did chicken, bacon, mushroom and leek hotpot type thing. Next week it'll all go out the window because i haven't been shopping yet and the fridge is bare. Who knows what we're eating tomorrow.

BananaToast · 28/09/2014 20:00

Ladies who have had scans, how long did they last? I was wondering this earlier and the comment above about allowing 2-3 hours for appointment reminded me. I've had scans at the EPU and they've been really quick so wondering how it will compare.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/09/2014 20:02

I'm able to eat fruit now as well BrixtonBunny which is lovely!

There's an artery that provides blood to the uterus on the right which can affect blood flow of you lay on your right for too long minipie. First aid courses I've been on always teach you to put a pregnant woman in the recovery position on her left if at all possible but would be scary to have an unconscious pregnant woman anyway!!

Second trimester is great, although I have to say I stayed pretty mobile until I gave birth with mine and not much keeps me awake so I was ok.

Still haven't felt any movements yet :( had felt ds2 by this stage so figured I'd feel this one as early too.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/09/2014 20:06

About 10-15 mins with my previous ones BananaToast and then the 20week ones are longer. I had a general look around body parts, measurements she needed to take and time to get gel on and off and explain what she was doing with both of mine. Ds2's was followed by a blood test and this one will be too. 61 hours to go Grin

dancestomyowntune · 28/09/2014 20:31

Hello everyone! Just checking in as I haven't been here for a while. I am now really looking forward to my scan on Wednesday morning, even though dh can't get the time off to come with me.

I am suffering a bit with pins and needles though. Especially in my hands and feet. Anyone else?

12+1 today
