Argh well our scan on friday was good but had a missed call today from the screening people (who are now unhelpfully not answering their phones) which I assume must mean the blood tests showed up something (nuchal measurements were fine). So now am anticipating being referred for an amnio which is very scary :-(

So sorry to hear about your scan news Lobster xx

Misty I also have a big birthday this year. In less than 3 weeks in fact. Can't laugh at DH anymore for being older than me!

I've had some weird feelings going on in lower abdomen today felt stretchy and I'm sure it's just wind moving about but it's odd. Then when I was shopping it felt like someone had kicked me between my legs. It was aching so much. Least I'm home now and pants are open. I'd put pjs on but brother in law is round so don't want to be in my slobs. Oh and my face is well sensitive down one side like I've slept on it funny.

Booking appointment went well but was told it will be done in the next 4 weeks so who knows when I'll get one if they are busy. Confused

Lauren82000 · 30/09/2014 18:04

I meant scan in next 4 weeks. Blush

IvegotaCaveTroll · 30/09/2014 18:16

Hi guys especially anyone worrying about age.
I am a Dr (although the only pregnancy stuff I deal with now is headaches) earlier on in my career I was present at a good few births. Ages ranged from early teens to late 40's. Although different age groups do have different risks at the end of the day I only saw healthy babies and these births were all consultant lead.
Bad things can happen but when uv got to 12 weeks most babies are perfectly fine.
Moral of this story is if people were not meant to give birth in their 40's (or even 50's) nature would have put the menopause earlier- evolution has been relatively successful.
Xx

Essence fx everything is okay for you.

Today I had bleeding. Very minimal but enough to freak me out and make me leave work. I have tried to get hold of my MW but no luck so in the end called the Delivery Suite at hospital (being the only other number I've been given!) who said to go to A&E if I get pain and/or more bleeding. It was literally when wiping this morning and I have no pain, just a sort of awareness of where baby is. But I'm still worried!

13 weeks today.

Also had a rubbish day today..must be something in the air!

Think maybe bean is having a growth spurt as I've had some stretching cramps and I'm exhausted! To add to it I've had an on-off headache all day and an "I don't know what I want to eat" kind of day. Finally settled on some minestrone soup earlier and it was tasty Grin

Lauren82000 · 30/09/2014 20:43

Lady that's been me all day but I settled for potato waffles and a small tin of DDs beans and sausage. Was tasty but bit quite enough need something else but I don't think my eyes can stay open much longer.

MissV84 · 30/09/2014 20:51

I know this is late but just saw Lobsters message and wanted to add my love and good wishes - I'm so sorry and I hope you are ok and being looked after. Xxx

daholster · 30/09/2014 21:23

Well I managed my full 10.5 hrs at work today with the croaky voice and tickly scratchy cough talking to people all day and exhausted by the end of it. Came home to a poorly dd who just flopped on my knee and won't eat much. I wonder if she is getting my sore throat, I think so. O felt so poorly... Poor little thing! Still, gallop in and ibuprofen in, and she perked up a little so we bathed and she's in bed... I don't forsee a good night. I'm starving and have no energy to go and cook now! Was planning to see a friend tomorrow that I haven't caught up with in ages with her 7 week old but I think we might end up missing it Sad

daholster · 30/09/2014 21:24

*calpol, not gallop. I corrected that once!!!

sazzle82G · 30/09/2014 21:31

Hi
I haven't commented for a while but have been keeping up. I just wanted to say how sorry I was to lobster. It's what we all dread.

I was doing quite well not worry this week but I'm back on the sofa now it's a week till my scan. All symptoms have gone pretty quiet so it becomes quiet hard to believe. Just wish I knew. Mam started talking about where I was going to keep a pram today and I just got the wobbles and started to feel all embarrassed talking about it. These things only happen to grown ups not me! Anyone else really embarrassed to talk about it I front of their dad's! Haha! Is that just weird. Smile I'm 32 for goodness sake.

RiverRocks · 30/09/2014 21:43

Sazzle that's exactly how I feel! I was so embarrassed to tell my parents even though DH and I have been together 5 years, are married, have a house together, good jobs and my dad has been after grandchildren for ages now!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/09/2014 21:51

Try not to worry EssenceofGelfing, wait and see what the call is about!

Sorry to hear you've been bleeding Rustyzilla.

Haven't had waffles for years Lauren82000 but I don't like beans and sausages from a tin Envy

Been thinking of you today LobsterMagnet, hope all went as well as could be Flowers

Misty try some peppermint tea if you have any in, it's meant to work wonders for trapped wind. I had it the other day and it was horrible, if you google you will find all sorts of home remedies - my favourite (although it didn't work) was to get on the bed on all fours and slowly crawl off onto the floor.

sazzle82G · 30/09/2014 22:12

We're allowed things like rennies aren't we? I'd get a couple of them down you. Along with the peppermint tea drunk while crawling off the bed!

LadyNovember · 30/09/2014 22:14

You could try Windeze if you have any at home Misty. Trapped wind can be really awful, hope you're feeling better soon. X

I've just dared to have a look at the name treads. They're hilarious. Lots of people telling each other what they really think of suggestions like Plum and Elfredo. Think I'll be entertaining myself with them for the next few months. I can't stop thinking about baby names. What a huge decision that will be.

littleluna89 · 30/09/2014 22:46

hiding yes I am a 89 baby

Scan's getting closer, less than a day and a half! bricking it

Ooh, name threads! I'm going to take a peek!

Lauren82000 · 01/10/2014 07:02

Hmm baby names I have a partial one for a girl that I have yet to convince DH with and I think if we actually get a boy we should use a combination of the family names that have been passed down through my family. As there hasn't been a boy since my uncle who died 20 years ago.
Plus it needs to sound ok with DDs name and our last name. Lots to think about but it's still a bit early for the name conversation yet.

dancestomyowntune · 01/10/2014 07:05

Morning all... I'm feeling rubbish this morning and I swear my morning sickness is getting worse not better! I'm 12+4 today and have my scan this morning. My mum is coming with me because dh can't take any more time off work (he had a heart op last week, time off to take dd 2 to hospital for broken wrist, he's been to all three previous scans...). Also seeing the consultant so will find out how often she wants to see me. Midwife said don't be surprised if she wants more regular scans.

12+4 (unless they change it this morning!)

JaneyTea · 01/10/2014 08:42

misty I've found a teaspoon of bicarb in a glass of water the best thing for trapped wind. Hope you're feeling better this morning.

sazzle thank you for pointing me in the direction of the naming threads. Oh my, they prompted a few much needed giggles this morning. On the subject of names, we've managed to agree on a few for each gender, our main problem is the surname. We're not married and even if we were, I'm not sure I'd take his surname. I quite resent the assumption that the baby will have his surname and I'd find it odd to have a different surname to my child. We go round and round in circles with this one.....

I had my reassurance scan on Monday afternoon. They were absolutely lovely in the hospital and everything appears fine. Even managed to see it waving it's tiny tiny arm, which was pretty special. They did move me back a few days, which, when time is moving achingly slowly, was a bit frustrating, but in the scheme of things, I should probably just accept. If they say the same at my next scan in 2.5 weeks, I'll be bumped off into May. DP is worried that labour will coincide with the general election and he won't get to stay up all night being a politics geek..... Hmm
