Greengirlforever · 11/09/2006 13:53

Well done Liath.

Well I can't stand pickled onion monster munch and my DP and I are speaking again, so that's me updated!

weeonion · 11/09/2006 14:41

hi there - i am due in april also - wel i think i am! my doc didnt actually say the words "you are pregnant" and i think i am in suspended disbelief!

my DP - well bless him. he really hasnt a clue but has ordered a book to try and get up to speed. he is daunted by the boobs - up 5 cup sizes already!
not so keen on monster munch - no cravings as yet but hoping it'll be for something yum!

mammyjo · 11/09/2006 15:22

Congratulations doghouse and weeonion and welcome!!

MIAM I am with you on the strange taste in the mouth thing. The only way I can describe it is that it tastes like sand. (I dont make a habit of eating sand you understand)! Its vile and actually makes me feel sick but some days it seems to be worse than others. It only goes when I am actually eating then straight back afterwards.

Forgot to say earlier, thanks CD for giving me license to moan! I am actually feeling much better today, obviously had a particularly down day yesterday but have shaken it off.

mammyjo · 11/09/2006 15:23

Doghouse what is your due date? I am 11+2 weeks now and have been given April 1st 2007.

Bugmum · 11/09/2006 15:51

Cornflake - if you get over to the new thread, CONGRATULATIONS!! Whoo-hoo!!

I'm another one with the horrible taste in the mouth, with eating the only temporary respite. No wonder have got so fat

liath · 11/09/2006 16:01

Another congratulations for cornflakekid, great news!

Hi & welcome to weeonion - hurray, another person in the Frozen North (i'm in Edinburgh). Actually it's warm & sunny today AND the tourists have mostly bogged off so nice and peaceful .

Welcome weeonion and doghouse and HURRAH Cornflakekid..what a feckin relief.
Fruit polos workrd for me for about a week to get the horrid taste away but know i can't stand them[so fickle]I want something really refreshing like a sorbet or those sparkler lemonade lollies we used to get when i was a kid.
I can taste chemicals and allsorts now.I think its also because i haven't smoked and my taste buds are returning,as well as being preggers.
Nice to hear how you're all getting on

CornflakeKid · 11/09/2006 17:23

OMG two threads - is this the new one or do I have to read both?!! Could have april1 and april2 on fav list!

Crisps are a fav at the moment - any really - except quavers - still have ms memories of them from last pg!

Thanks for all your messages re the scan - feeling very pleased with myself - and I know it is a girl!

emmymummy · 11/09/2006 17:29

Fab news Cornflake - v v v jealous of all these scans - got my booking in with mw on Weds, so must invent some strange tummy pains in order to get scan sooner than 12 weeks (which is still a month away) - argggh.

Welcome Doghouse & Weeonion.

Well, had some pickled onion monster munch at lunchtime (all you lot's fault for going on about them) and they were yuk. Now have 5 more bags in my drawer at work - can I send them to someone? Salt and vinegar squares are vastly more tasty & appealing and don't repeat everytime you burp (which is often with all the fizzy drinks I'm consuming).

So what are you all eating for dinner tonight? Dh phoned and asked what I wanted (he works in Waitrose so has a vast selection to choose from) and all I fancy tonight is potatoes roasted with Marmite on them. Yum.

CornflakeKid · 11/09/2006 17:37

I have had some frazzles and 2 choc bars for tea - may have a jacket potato later if feeling less sick. MS def better during day now - but by 5pm its raging!

doghouse · 11/09/2006 18:11

MammyJo, my due date is 2 April but then I havenn't had my dating scan yet and as my AF was first after 14(!) yrs on pill, not very sure of who regular I am!

My current craving is hummus ... am eating it straight from tub by the spoonful. Should be grateful that it is so healthy I suppose and have lost my usual craving (when not pg) for anything chocolatey! Weird!

Has anyone else had skin problems (spots on chest and back mainly but also on chin and around hairline) since discovering pg? Driving me mad as thought my spotty days were over?! Can anyone advise when this ghastly condition passes!

mammyjo · 11/09/2006 18:19

I havent had my dating scan yet either but have pretty regular cycles so am fairly sure my date should be accurate.

Really pleased for you Cornflake, excellent news!!

CornflakeKid · 11/09/2006 18:28

Does anyone feel like their teeth are covered in roof felt?

IsabellaMoi · 11/09/2006 18:40

Hi all and a big, warm welcome to the new members!

I posted about a week ago to say my MS was diminishing. I spoke a little early! I still have good days and bad days but I think maybe the better days are becoming a little more frequent.

I can relate to the vivid dreams - and my DH reports that I've been sleep talking. I woke him up last week and asked him (in my sleep) if he had his earplugs in because the baby was crying! (this is our first - so there aren't even other kids in the house!).

I've felt pretty even-keeled so far but just had a big cry for the irrational reason that I just discovered that I'm not getting my scan 'til Oct 9th (I'll be 13 + 2 then. Mumsnet experts: Does 13+2 mean 13 weeks and 2 days?). I'm pretty sure of my due date (April 14th) so I don't desperately need the scan for dating reasons but I just wanted it sooner and feel very frustrated that I still need to wait a month. I guess we'll be able to see more by 13 weeks but it is also a fact that the most accurate dating can be achieved with scans done at 8-12 weeks. I'm annoyed and still crying out of irrational self-pity but at the same time there is a little voice in my head reminding me that millions of women in the world don't have access to ANY antenatal care, let alone ultrasounds.

Great news Cornflakekid! Hope everyone else is doing okay. I'm feeling slightly calmer now that I've been able to vent. Thanks.

hollyhobbie · 11/09/2006 18:45

Hi all and welcome to the newbies.
I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and meeting the midwife in the morning. Hoping that she'll be able to do a doppler to hear the baby's heartbeat. I think they can do that from 10 weeks? This PG I'm only having 3 scans, so still have 1 week to go until 1st scan. Until I see this baby I don't feel it's really real. With DD I had scans from the off (I live in Germany and they are super-medicalised here) I saw her when she was 1mm big, so she was real from the start. if that makes sense.
Re: HOT TOPICS
DH is away quite a lot, so when he's back he does as much as he can to look after DD and let me rest. Maybe those with useless DH/DPs could arrange to have them sent away for a bit!?
Cravings... grrr! It's agony to read all your british food type cravings (crisps of all flavours! hummous!) ...sob! none of them are available here. Will have to get DH to stock up for me when he's on his next business trip to the UK.
My skin is bad too, doghouse, I'm hoping that it will all change once we start 'blooming' at 12 weeks.

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:10

doobydoo - i found lemonade lollies at a kiosk at the weekend, ended up having 2!

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:16

doghouse - i've lost my choccie craving that is normally a permanent fixture too, dp just can't understand it and still keeps buying it! i too have spots, worst ones are on my chest cos i can't wear low cut tops to show off my new cleavage! with ds it cleared up at 12 weeks.

at hollyhobbie's 3 scans, you are so lucky!

have placed another link on previous thread, hopefully all will transfer over here.

and will do a new stats thread too

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:18

and cornflake, can i put threads into a favourites list and name them? please tell me how if i can!

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:19

stats thread

weeonion · 11/09/2006 20:28

well - its nice to be greeted by you all
i was meant to be working at home today but spent most of it reading all your messages! after reading about cravings - felt so went and bought 3 packets of roast chicken crisps. wouldnt mind but i'm a veggie!
liath - good to hear you are in edinburgh - i work over there and finding the 5 hr commute v v difficult at the mo.

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:37

wow, 5 hours weeonion, i an barely manage my half hour journey to work!

weeonion · 11/09/2006 20:53

elliek - dont get too impressed - that is the return journey as well!
i havent been too focused at work - myteam are really noticing a difference as i almost nod off at my pc. i wish the first scan was over so i could break the news! we havent told a soul but it has become almost like an urge to shout it out at times!

EllieK · 11/09/2006 20:56

doing better than me, there's very few people that don't know!
kinda take the attitude that if the worst were to happen i'd have to tell people anyway so why wait.
and i can't keep my mouth shut for that long!

AngeG · 11/09/2006 20:57

Hi everyone

Had my first mw app today same one as with ds. Really pleased she has agreed I should have another c-section(i'm 4ft 11 with size 3 feet) Had c-section with DS for medical reasons, which could happen again but good to know mw is on my side even if everything is 'normal'

Had blood taken, I don't mind having it taken but my veins don't seem to agree! She tried one arm and i've got the swelling and bruises to show for it. Mananged eventually to get some out of the other arm! Still got bruises though. Sorry if tmi for those of you who are sqeamish.

Am booking my nuchal scan for 12 wks only 2 weeks away and can't wait! Then I've got another at 16 wks booked for 26/10. Then no more unless I have any problems.

Beginning to feel a bit better now still eating loads of pickled onion monster munch though.

Hope everyone is ok.
It's so nice to have people to talk to at around about the same stage.

emmymummy · 11/09/2006 21:11

Marmite potatoes were a big mistake. House now stinks of burnt Marmite. Yuk. Am going to bed. Nighty night.
