I'm planning to get my 'natural highlights' done soon!! Was just going to get my parting done though not whole head - and a trim.

I normally put make up on and nice clothes but just cannot be arsed at the moment - look particularly skanky. Think the main problem is that my trousers don't fit and not quite ready for maternity and just have one pair of black stretchy trousers which aren't very flattering - and don't normally wear black so a bit flummoxed as to what to wear with them - sounds mad I know - you'd think would be easy - but not!

I also have a huge pile of ironing - most of favourite clothes in there and don't have energy to do it - crisis will force the ironing board to go up soon!

EllieMayW · 12/09/2006 16:08

Geordie. Very Very funny re eating own toes, first laugh for me today! Thank you!

hollyhobbie · 12/09/2006 17:34

EllieK- I thought 3 scans was normal... what IS normal in the UK then, 1 or 2?

Last PG I had about 10. Basically everytime you have a doctors appointment they do one. The pregnancy test here (once you've done one at home) is a scan.
I got pics from 6 of them. It was nice to see the baby (now DD) but it felt like too much information too. They found there was a problem with the blood supply that I worried and stressed about for 2 months and had to have weekly CTGs which both me and DD HATED! Then 2 months later the problem mysteriously cleared up...

That's why this time I'm going for the minimal amount of medical intervention.

DH has been downgraded to useless status though- came back from business trip last night to announce that he had an 8.30am meeting, so couldn't meet the midwife with me, which meant that I had to look after DD and talk to the midwife.
DD was also downgraded to useless for waking up 3 times last night, though today she's actually got a temp, so I've forgiven her.

How was your driving test CD? I sometimes feel part of the group, and other times don't. Quite often I'm lurking but can't be bothered to post and then other times (like now) I suddenly find myself going on and on and on and on...

AngeG · 12/09/2006 18:17

Captain Dippy hope the driving test went ok...had everything crossed for you. We all love you please don't go and eat worms!

Twinkle so sorry about the hair hope you manage to sort it out. I am still planning to have my highlights done have spoken to my hairdresser and with highlights no bleach actually gets on the scalp I did with ds also and had no problems. I definitely recommend going to a hairdesser rather than at home cos your hair can react differently during pregnancy.

Holliehobbie 10 scans wow I didn't have that many and I had problems! I'm in Portsmouth and here you get one routine dating scan at 16wks and no others unless there is a problem. In Southampton it used to be that you had 1 scan at 20 wks an anomaly scan and nothing else they have just started offering the nuchal/dating scan at 12wks as well.

I agree with you about CTGs I had to have them every other day for the from 28 wks until 34 wks when ds was born, still really they did save my ds think he might have been stillborn otherwise...sorry still a bit emotional remembering...I'm going on a bit.

emmymummy · 12/09/2006 18:23

Crikey - blink and you miss this thread. Right....

CaptainDippy - please tell us how it went today.

Spots - EllieK and Doghouse, not sure if this is going to be good advice or not, but I have always used tea tree oil on any little spots and pimples, and that includes right through my last pregnancy. It works as a disinfectant, is natural, and is soothing on any red bits. I also use it on my dd when she has bites etc. I'm not advocating slapping it liberally on, just the tiniest little bit seems to work very well and it's got to be better on the skin than some of the harsh lotions you can get from the chemist. I say this all with caution, as the use of essential oils during pregnancy can be a bit dubious, but as I say, never did me & dd any harm. Oh and you can get tea tree lotion, which has a lower % of the oil, so that may be better (the lotion is also great to use after waxing BTW).

Hair dye - had my hair highlighted a couple of times during my last pregnancy and the hairdresser advised there was no risk with this. Can't live without hair dye - everyone would know I've got lots of grey hair - can't be doing with that!

Today I decided to try some of those sea-band things (supposed to reduce nausea using pressure points on your wrists). And the conclusion is.... they do bugger all. bah.

weeonion · 12/09/2006 20:40

still no word from captain dippy???? hope you are out girl racing round the place!

it was a stinking day in scotland - seemed to rain none stop all day which didnt lift my mood much! feeling fat and frumpy. have a big work do on thursday - a launch party and i am meant to be the glam hostess. cant seem to get my slinky dresses over the boobs never mind anywhere near the waist!

has anyone tried those pilates exercise balls?? i got one today but no matter how hard i jump up and down on the foot pump - it doesnt seem to inflate! i have wobbled around a bit on it tonight but how that is gonna build up "core muscles" i will never know!!

hope you all have a grand night!

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 21:36

Argh - my boobies are soooooo itchy - driving me insane!!!!!!!

Speaking of driving - my PG Brain let me down, I'm afraid! Pissed up at a roundabout (won't go into details, "pissed it up" covers it nicely, I feel!! ) Thank you soooooo much for all your lovely wishes and for thinking of me - it really meant a lot - you are all so sweet. I'll put the worms away now. (Until I feel peckish in the night, of course - gag, gag, gag ........ )

All this talk of hair dying makes me giggle - esp the comments about "covering up the greys", emmymummy!!

Not much time to reply to everything, but thank you - atm, my re-test is on Oct 26th - earliest possible date they had!!!!!!! Hoping for a cancellation slot sooner ......

Going to go and slob.

Slob. Slob. Slob. Slob.

doobydoo · 12/09/2006 21:51

Ahhh never mind CD.I think you are blimmin brave to attempt it at this crazy mad stage of pregnancy.Good luck for the 26th october.I have failed mine 3 times over the last 20 years.Fortunately i live in the Irish Republic where its legal to drive on a 2nd provisional which i know is mad. There is a year waiting list for driving tests where i live!
I now feel sick in the evenings, which,i think is better than all day.
Goodnight all

CornflakeKid · 13/09/2006 07:30

Oh no CD - I'd have just sat in the car and sobbed until the instructor gave in! Good luck for re-test. I passed my test 15 years ago - don't think would pass it if had to re-take now.

Have a nice day everyone.

CaptainDippy · 13/09/2006 07:44

I was feeling unusually positive and non-hormonal yesterday morning, so I just sort of brushed it off. I think it must have been an unusual reaction cos my instructor was saying: "Are you sure you are ok?" all the way home and when he dropped me up he said: "Chin Up!" I really wasn't bothered at all!! Bless!!

1st day of new job today - working three mornings a week doing admin. Not feeling great - should be interesting!!?

How's everyone else doing??

EllieMayW · 13/09/2006 08:10

CapDiddy - so sorry about your test. Glad that you seem quite chirpy about it all though. Best of luck next time.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a CTG?! Can't find it on the acronym list.

I have had a ms revelation today - I had a particulary bad night with it i.e. woke up twice feeling like I was going to be sick - so I tried shock tactics and went swimming at 6.30am today for 1/2 an hour - BNINGO! It works, I feel great. I appreciate that this is completely impossible for most people but presumably execrcise of any kind might do the trick.

I had started swimming to lose weight just before I found out I was pg. I am now about a stone heavier! Great. Hey ho. However, I much prefer to be fat and pg than thin and not! Am very worried that I will be a complete bloater by April though.

Have a good day everyone.

Greengirlforever · 13/09/2006 09:22

Wow - that took me ages to read and no work done yet!

Captain D - I passed my test 14 years ago - when I was 6 months pg and looked ready to drop. It was my 4th go (test, not pgcy!!!) (all the other tests failed during the same pgcy!) and I think they thought I WOULD drop if they didn't give me a break....

Twinkle - I'm not from Cornwall but from even sunnier Devon! So are we best mates or sworn enemies???

DoobyDoo - I'm originally from Irish Republic - all my family still there - where you at?

Bucky - where are you and is everything ok?

I have my dating scan today at 2.40 - something tells me I will have been way out with my dates so will have to update stats thread. Also very nervous that there is actually a bean in there due to last mc.... I should be 9 weeks or so (never very good with numbers...) Will post later with any news.

zazas · 13/09/2006 09:52

Goodluck with the scan GreenGirlForever. It is nice reading what everyone is up to and how they are feeling - but by the time I have done that I have run out of energy to post anything myself. Feel a bit better this morning due to throwing up last night at 10pm - more a case of night sickness than morning for me. TMI alert but does anyone else throw up until there is blood? Freaks me out and obviously my insides feel very rough after - just disgusting really.

On that lovely note I wish everyone a happy, healthy day!

AngeG · 13/09/2006 10:01

Elliemayw don't worry it's not ignorance if you hadn't had them you wouldn't know we should have explained. CTG stands for cardiotocograph, no closer I know.

Basically it's a monitor placed over your belly to track the fetal heart beat you also have a button to press everytime you feel the baby move.
As I recall I had to sit for about 30mins each time and you can't move around. They sometimes use them in labour to see how the baby is reacting to contractions. Hope that helps

Hope all ok with everyone today. Still thinking of you Bucky hope all ok.

Sorry about your test captain dippy,I passed mine at 17 second time and I know I wouldn't pass now especially with ms.
Good luck for October 26th I won't forget cos that's my 16wk scan day!

Still got terrible bruises on both my arms where the mw tried to take blood!

Have a good day everyone

EllieMayW · 13/09/2006 10:19

Thanks AngeG for the translation. I aot surprised you didn't like it.

I too won't forget 26 Oct as I being scanned then too.I will be 14 week then so am hoping they can still do the nuchal thing.

Good Luck for today Greengirl. Let us know how it goes.

Not sure the swimming thing was worth it after all, am deteriorating into ms again .... yuk. Having had a whole 3 hours without it though I have to say that it is quite reassuring to have it back! Might not moan in future.

EllieMayW · 13/09/2006 10:20

meant "am not" surprised. Pg brain..... Sorry

treacletart · 13/09/2006 10:36

Hi all - not very good at posting but like listening in on everyone else in the boat. I'm 8 weeks, queazy, sore-norked and knackered. Had my first midwifes appt last week to fill in forms to make another appt to fill in forms. She was very enthusiastic about a homebirth (DS was a superquick and unplanned homebirth - hoping to make a bit less mess this time). No cravings and DH is being superfantastic doing almost all domestic stuff inc food shopping/cooking/cleaning and letting me sleep in every morning - he's even taking DS to the inlaws this weekend to give me a break.(Should I shutup now?!)

twinkle183 · 13/09/2006 10:37

Take care

doobydoo · 13/09/2006 11:01

Hope you all have a lovely day.
I feel knackered

doobydoo · 13/09/2006 11:02

That is sooooooooo weird.I did not type in 'I am knackered'That has really spooked me.

doobydoo · 13/09/2006 11:03

Or maybe i did but my brain is fuddled...i am sure i didn't tho.

muminamini · 13/09/2006 12:28

Morning ladies....

I too must apologise for infequent postings...sometimes just don't have the energy, although I do like reading and finding out what everyone is up to. Finding it particularly difficult to post this morning as DS is having a massive tantrum.....oh if only I had some energy.

CD - shame about your test hun - glad you are posative about it.

Glad too your hair is sorted out Twinkle - I bet you were in a state - green hair is a difficult look to pull off.

Had my official first full on vomit yesterday - triggered also by tooth brushing...

Bed last night at 8pm....still exhausted and just woken from a snooze on sofa with DS.
Hope everyone has a nice afternoon - may have more energy to post something interesting later...
x

mammyjo · 13/09/2006 13:23

So sorry about your test CD, better luck next time eh! Twinkle, glad the green hair is gone and back to brown!
Feeling about the same today, generally nauseous all day and actually being sick late in the evening. Getting fed up of it to be honest but I know I would panic if it goes too.

doghouse · 13/09/2006 13:42

EmmyMummy - thanks for tip re. tea tree oil - will try that. It's just annoying - especially as am new to this area and have just had coffee morning with load of other (army) wives who all seem to by 'yummy mummy' types whilst I just feel spotty and yucky and not myself but not even able to say that I am going to be a yummy mummy one day very soon too (still a secret til scan early oct).

Still it is not forever.

geordiemacminx · 13/09/2006 14:06

touche eclait by YSL is great for covering up spots too... bit pricey at £18ish but well worth it,...
