No probs usandbump

Are you having a homebirth too?
Just wondered with your mw coming to visit you at home?

usandbump · 04/07/2006 09:46

No not having a homebirth, it seems to be the norm in our area that from 36/37 wks you are visited at home. This is my first home visit tho at 40+1 and I am so glad I don't have to go to the surgery in this heat as I can't drive and it would mean a very uncomfortable walk and bus ride! Not a pretty sight me thinks

OP posts:
agalch · 04/07/2006 10:13

We don't get any visits at home where i am,i am only having them now as i am having bub at home.Whereabouts are you?

usandbump · 04/07/2006 10:20

OP posts:
agalch · 04/07/2006 10:34

Fingers crossed things start soon for you

HumphreysCorner · 04/07/2006 10:43

Morning ladies

How exciting for kayzed and Nixnoo-the race is on. Have brought the list onto this thread ready for babies to be added.

Meant to say that when the 'lovely' MIL came with her mum they called Sophie 'he' the whole time. I mean, how stupid can you be?????? When I asked why this was they said it was because 'he' looks like DH. I said that DD1 had done but soon changed luckily. Girls-be prepared for the outlaw visits-grrrhhhh!!!

On my own today as DH has taken DD to MIL and he is going to work to work on his bike bits-peace!

Health visitor is coming on Monday and unfortunately it is the same one as before-you know the type, skinny and never had children but likes to lecture on bringing up children.

Hope you all stay cool and chilled and prepared. Lots of love and hugs to you all.

Bye for now.

Hi everyone! Sorry, I haven't been around for so long. Have popped in a few times to see how everyone is doing though. Getting quite excited now to see babes are on their way! Huge congratulations to all those who have arrived.

Looks like I am still a while off. Baby not yet engaged. Not due until 22nd but kind of hoping she might come a little bit early. Off to the osteopath today as apparently my pelvis hasn't 'opened' properly and hoping they can help.

Good luck to all those who think it is imminent!

Hi again all

Well m/w has just been, she said I am only just 4/5 engaged!! But she said this is nothing to worry about just that he is obviously in no hurry to come out! BP is up a bit so someone will come out again on Saturday morning just to check it doesn't go up anymore and I have to stay with my legs elevated as much as poss coz I'm so swollen from the calves down (it looks hideous). I am booked in for an induction on the 15th so if nothing happens in the meantime I will definitely have my baby that weekend . M/w offered to do a sweep but I decided that seeing as I'm only a day over I would leave him to it, he is perfectly happy and obviously isn't ready to enter the world yet.

OP posts:
maewest · 04/07/2006 14:21

usandbump - my mum reckons that all three of her babies (inc me) didn't engage until quite late on. In fact I think her words were 'your brother L didn't engage until I was in labour' . Plenty of time in the next 10 day for bub to make his appearance

Had really good mw appt now - home visit because of homebirth plans, but have to go to health centre for the others. Oh well at least the walk there is downhill! After earlier on in pg not feeling supported, feel much better now, discussed birth plans, kept it really simple - my main request was just to see how it goes... Also talked about Vit K - is everyone else having saying yes to this?

I'm off to watch Roman Holiday now with the fan on and a jug of iced water (got a big pile of old films from Amazone, came in the post today)

take care xx

maewest · 04/07/2006 14:22

and apologies for all the typoes inthe last msg - must be the heat

lilianna · 04/07/2006 14:24

hi girls,
Woke up at 3 this morning with really bad bachache and pressure down below, but all had stopped within an hour.
I have the midwife tomorrow afternoon so just gotta to see what she says, hopefully they will give me a date for induction, the 17th would be fine. Must be out by 23rd as it will be ds2's 1st birthday and i don't want to miss it.
So how is everyone feeling today?

take care
lilianna

nixnoo · 04/07/2006 15:46

since my excitement this morning, nothing has happened! Still period type pains but that is it....

hope I go into labour naturally, not keen for induction tomorrow morning....

Thank God for that thunder storm in London, cooled things down a bit!!! Gonna go eat some pineapple now

x

ps: yes, am having vitamin k

HumphreysCorner · 04/07/2006 15:59

I had vitamin K last time and this time.

xxx

Straightforward · 04/07/2006 17:21

Planning on oral vit K - they give the baby a dose at birth, then mw or hv tops it up later. Think at time of dd's birth there was some scare about the injection being linked with leukaemia or something, but haven't heard about that this time round. However, the oral stuff seemed less 'invasive', so thought we'd go for that again.

pinkdolly · 04/07/2006 17:30

Hiya,

Just to say that both my girls had the vit K injection and this one will be having it too.

I read something about it being much easier to administer the correct dose by injection. And it hasn't done the girls any harm.

Well my back is still aching and I feel like my belly is gonna burst. Going for a wee about every 30 mins or so. I am so uncomfy and feeling crappy due to my high BP. I have had enough, need to get this baby moving I think.

37 weeks today!

koshka1984 · 04/07/2006 17:55

Hello everyone!!!

Well, Jake Josef was born on 3/07 at 2.27am!
Had the gel on sat night..nothing happened...
Waters broken on sunday afternoon and eventually had the drip to induce me!

I was so scared that i was nearly hyperventilating!

But now got him, hes 6lb 13oz and is so tiny!!

Good luck everyone im going to keep an eye out for all of you xkoshkax x x

Wallace · 04/07/2006 18:10

madness · 04/07/2006 18:21

congratulations (and good luck for us "waiters".)

Really started to waggle like a duck., but still nearly 3 more weeks. Back is really hurting and people at work are surprised I haven't started my mat leave yet (sure so I can run after dd and ds instead..)

(Other ones had oral vit K, didn't seem to be more hassle)

IamBlossom · 04/07/2006 18:59

Congrats Koshka, and welcome Jake Josef, more great names!

Hot and bothered and too moody to post more. Goddam heat!

kbaby · 04/07/2006 21:26

congrats Koshka, let us know how you get on.

I finished work today and im now worrying about what DD and I can get upto in the days that isnt tiring or makes me hot.

My fingers and feet have swollen up but I dont know if its just the heat or anything else. I havent got the mw until next wednesday. Anyone know how I can see if its just the heat.

ok im off now as im too hot and bothered.

usandbump · 05/07/2006 08:14

Woken by a huge thunderstorm this morning and its now pouring with rain and the best bit its........cool!!

Had a much better nights sleep last night too.

Kbaby, any other symptoms such as high bp, funny vision or headaches? I have family history of Pre-eclampsia and I have been swollen for weeks but m/w said she would only worry if my face was also swollen or I showed another symptom. If its playing on your mind I would make an appointment with your GP just to get checked.

Hope its cooled down everywhere for the sanity of all of you

OP posts:
pinkdolly · 05/07/2006 08:50

koshka- Congrats hon on the safe arrival of your Lo.

Kbaby- It could well be the heat making you swell up, but if you are at all worried phone the M/W that's what they are there for.

I had a better nights sleep last night and as a result am feeling a bit better today. Although my back is still playing up.

DD1 woke up and asked if baby was coming out today. I tried to explain that baby decides when baby is ready. So she started shouting down my belly button "it's time to come out now".
Dear of her.

well another relaxing day for me today, trying to get my BP down for friday as I dont want to risk being sent in.

Have a good day ladies, bumps and babes.
