over here, that came around suddenly

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PrunellaDeVille · 02/08/2012 12:35

as i was trying to say when the thread suddenly ran out.....

bubbless had a very similar situation yesterday, some suggestions were:
ligament pain (predictably)
UTI - if aches continue/wee strong etc
nerve pain - maybe baby movement hitting an awkward spot
appendicitis - if ongoing

called MW and at her suggestion called midwifery triage who said: call again if it happens more than once, take paracetamol if a high temperature appears, see Dr if suspect UTI, and generally it's probably just nothing - but it doesn't bloody feel like nothing does it.
wish i could pass on more helpful stuff but that's as far as i got and today feeling much better so hope for the best i guess. Confused

bubbless definately speak to someone. I tend to find the midwife really dismissive, so have been to my GP with concerns. He always contacts the midwife who then takes me sriously. A lot of effort, yes, but at least I feel more reasured at the end of it.

Also, it's me who also has a scan on the 8th....can't belive it's less than a week away now! Getting a bit nervous, but trying to look forwards to seeing LO again.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2012 13:10

I also have scan on the eighth. Eek!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2012 13:12

Oh Fod poor you Sad hope you feel better soon.

Have been feeling some movement finally Grin

PrunellaDeVille · 02/08/2012 13:14

Willyoudothefandango · 02/08/2012 13:25

Checking into new thread

WeeJo08 · 02/08/2012 13:45

It's been ages since I posted. I wrote a lovely post on Tuesday, referencing individuals, etc and the minute I clicked "Post Message" Mumsnet went offline! Was super annoyed so didn't re-write it! Oh well.

In other news - I survived the Olympics! Woop! We went to the rowing yesterday where we saw Team GB's first gold medal! Then we got on the train down to Teddington and saw Bradley Wiggins get the second gold! We had an absolutely brilliant day and thought the Olympics was so well organised. Mind you, I was absolutely POOPED last night. We walked for miiiiiiiiiiiles yesterday so my legs are pretty sore today! It was worth it though....and I probably need the exercise!

I saw a thread on the Pregnancy board about Paternity Leave and thought I would say about it on here - one of the ladies on there was upset as her husband's company has said he hasn't given enough notice to get paternity leave and is refusing to give it. I had a look into it and it seems that DPs/DH/boyfriends need to give the same 15 weeks of notice that we do. Which I certainly didn't know! Here is an extract from the Direct Gov website:

"You must give your employer the correct amount of notice. You should tell them in writing either:

  • at least 15 weeks before the beginning of the week when the baby's due
  • within seven days of being told by the adoption agency that you have been matched with a child
A simple way to give notice is to fill in a 'self-certificate'. You can download form SC3 'Becoming a parent', which works as a self-certificate."

Here is the link to the website, where you can get the self-certificate they mention:

www.direct.gov.uk/en/parents/moneyandworkentitlements/parentalleaveandpay/dg_10029398

Sorry if I am repeating stuff - you guys probably already know this! But we didn't so I sent it over to my DH this morning Blush I know it's a few weeks yet until we're 15 to go, but for the likes of Clarella, etc it's probably a bit closer! I also read that we can get our maternity form from the doctor/GP from 21 weeks so I think I'll request that soon.

Sorry for the MONSTER post! Blush

Cookiesandcream06 · 02/08/2012 13:47

Oh my goodness a day passes and I've missed the thread ending! Checking in! Smile

WeeJo08 · 02/08/2012 13:52

Oh and sorry to our European and Aussie mums-to-be as the last novel post was about UK paternity leave so not very interesting/relevant for you guys! Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2012 13:55

Dp's boss gave him over three weeks full pay last time! Let him have two weeks from when dd came out of SCBU and just paid him. Dp does pay for it in odd bits of over time though so its all swings and roundabouts.

HoneyMum21 · 02/08/2012 14:05

Checking in on new thread- cardiac scan was good, he said heart looked perfect :)

Willyoudothefandango · 02/08/2012 14:07

Thanks WeeJo I hadn't heard of that. DP works for a small company so they would probably be fine with him anyway seeing as most of it will be over the Xmas hols, but I'll get him to do it anyway.

StateofConfusion · 02/08/2012 14:16

Hi everyone, mind if I join?

I'm almost 20wks pregnant with dc 3 due 22nd dec. I have a 5yo ds and 3.8yo dd, I lost a baby at 14wks last december so I'd been avoiding groups until I felt 'safe' I'm still anxious but this babys been wriggling away for weeks so its time I manned up and embraced pregnancy!

Bubbless · 02/08/2012 16:05

hiya all, thanks to whoever posted the paternity stuff- got my dp to print it off (hadent even thought about him having to give notice!)

welcome state were a lovley group and never talk about dirrohea, sex, nipples, sick..

Bubbless · 02/08/2012 16:05

pru your more helpful than my --bloody- mw! aha. if it happens again im going to go to a and e.. i think i was just too tired to be thinking straight last night!!

minipie · 02/08/2012 16:09

Hello checking in to the new thread!

State welcome and congratulations! do add yourself to the separate Dec stats thread too. When is your scan?

WeeJo I saw that thread too, have emailed DH to tell him to get on with it as he's only got a couple of weeks left... tbh I doubt his employers would make a big fuss if he didn't give notice but better not to give them any excuse!

HoneyMum that's great about the cardiac scan Smile Is that your last test/scan or do you still need more?

Pru ooh interesting etiquette situation. I reckon say nothing. Did you know she was TTCing?

StateofConfusion · 02/08/2012 16:57

bubbless none of that will scare me im a long term mner Grin and tell all my 1st timer friends when you go to hospital leave you dignity at the door.

minipie 10th august and I can't wait, fingers crossed they can tell me the sex as the dc have fought since 12wks over what it will be.

I'll go find the stat thread now :)

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2012 17:29

Welcome state Grin

honey that's really good news you must be relieved Smile

I'm in so much pain I can hardly sit and driving was agony. I'm not sure if it's baby's position or constipation Blush will be telling dp the former!

Clarella · 02/08/2012 17:29

So glad honeymum!

By the way it seems to be diff for teachers, I have to tell work next week (24 weeks) re maternity leave and it would kick in 6 weeks before due date if I was signed off (after today scenario looking more likely but employing positive thinking!)

Amazing midwife prodded tummy a bit today and within seconds knew where the bum, back head and legs were! Id love to learn, there's a website called spinning babies that helps you learn how.

Welcome state!

I need to check who's had lovely news on earlier thread....

Clarella · 02/08/2012 17:30

Doh 15 + 24 is 39.... argh! I will have a mini human in 15 weeks!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2012 17:36

Eek Clarella!!

utopian99 · 02/08/2012 17:37

hello state! good to have you (and also marking my place...)

our scan is tomorrow morning, I've just remembered! argh!! am simultaneously:

  1. excited to reacquaint with the Crumb
  2. terrified they'll find something wrong with it
  3. excited to find out what team we're on
  4. worried I may react badly if it's not the gender I secretly want (which is stupidly foolish of me, given point 2. means I just want it to be okay..) Confused

will make sure to log on later tomorrow though.. crossing everything till tomorrow on behalf of anyone else who has their scan too.

MyDaydream · 02/08/2012 17:55

I've been out to treat myself to celebrate being halfway through my pregnancy. Got my nails done, and bought baby some very cute clothes. Told myself I wasn't going to get anything else until we knew the sex, ooops.
My DP won't get paid paternity, but his work are happy for him to take time off unpaid since December is a quiet time for his team. If baby comes on time he wouldn't have been working for a lot of it anyway since it's Christmas. I think I need him around more for dealing with visitors rather than baby though.

Honey good to hear everything went well with the scan.
Welcome stateof, congratulations on the pregnancy.
Are you feeling better today Bubbless? I understand being too tired/in pain to think straight, DP has forced me to A&E before when I just wanted to sleep. I imagine when labour starts I'll be sat at home going "I just want a cup of tea and a sit down" and he'll be running around trying to get me to hospital.
utopian good luck for tomorrow.

Mummycox · 02/08/2012 18:05

That came around quick.

Off to see batman tonight Smile

Welcome state

bubbless how are you today?
