We have just found out we're expecting baby no 2 in Jan 2012 - how excited? I cannot tell you.

Right now though, I'm bogged down with thoughts at how it could all go wrong instead of enjoying...

We have been trying for over 2 years...so this is a much desired little bubba!!

Hope I'm logging into the right one! Very confusing.

adrianastar · 29/07/2012 21:09

Hi bunny! it seems that if youre logged in, it redirects you automatically. I was out of touch for a while- holiday. Had my scan 2 weeks ago. Amazing! All seems good and the down s tests came back as a low chance - so happy! Now - I didnt want to rub it in your faces before but I never had any sickness, any other pains (apart from the breasts and back pain) or smell issues. Thats probably why I couldnt quite believe I was actually pregnant ;)
Not sure if the nub theory works but as soon as I saw the baby on the scan, without realising it I started refering to it as a HE. Weird...
Ladies - let us know what classes are worth taking and if you find an amazing buggy.

I was finally able to get my "12 week" scan yesterday at a private clinic. It turns out I am 14 weeks! And now that I've seen the little one on the scan, it's starting to sink in that I'm not just gaining weight.

I still have another 3 weeks or so though before I hear from the midwife my local referred me to. That seems a bit late to me to finally meet the midwife. The private clinic I went to said that the place my local has referred me to is in the midst of a midwife shortage crisis. Does anyone know how to change locations? I'm not sure of procedure in this country.

And does anyone know anything about these www.bednest.com?

gemmapops · 02/08/2012 19:56

I had to spend the whole day in hospital on Tuesday which wasn't all that fun. Baby is fine and there are no problems there but I have to go back as an out patient in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else experienced a large bleed during their pregnancy? They think it is due to hormones and the bleed is on the outside of the cervix so nothing sinister happening in the womb or with baby. It turns out that I am O rhesus negative which meant that I also had to have the Anti D injection too.

And to top it all off I have been suffering with headaches so I feel for you Bunny222

gemmapops · 02/08/2012 20:04

Oh and I can't get this horrible taste out of mouth. It doesn't matter how many times I brush my team through the day it still feels like I have a sweet type coating on my tongue. Yuk!

americaninbritain · 07/08/2012 11:16

gemma - Glad everything is okay. I hope the odd taste has gone away.

Bunny222 · 14/08/2012 22:27

Hey all! How are you doing? Finally had midwife appt and got to hear the heartbeat - after what felt like ages waiting for her to find it. Very reassuring.

Have now bought furniture for the nursery, a Mamas and Papas set 2nd hand that hardly has a mark on it. So am now planning on getting the silver cross travel system I've had my eye on, DH will have to agree since I went 2nd hand on the furniture...!

How are you feeling? Am still pretty tired!

Natnat29 · 16/08/2012 14:27

Wow bunny good you got to hear the heartbeat- i had my mw app yest and she said she was going to leave it until next time as i have my 20 wk scan on 12th sept i was disappointed :(
Has everyone been organised?! ive not bought a single thing yet as we'v e got the house up for sale so trying to make it look as decluttered as possible so am holding off just yet but have picked out the pram we're thinking of - also sliver cross system Bunny- the surf is that the same one you are thinking of?
Im still feeling tired but not as bad as a couple of weeks ago mainly headaches im moaning about at the mo

Natnat29 · 16/08/2012 14:30

Hope everything ok now gemma?

gemmapops · 17/08/2012 10:29

Hi Nannat29 yes everything is ok now, thank you for asking :0) It turns out that the bleeding is on the outside of my cervix and it happens on contact. There is no threat to baby or myself but they can't treat it (by freezing the area) until after baby is born, but with any luck it will stop after I have given birth so I'll just have to wait and see.

I got to hear baby's heartbeat last week which was lovely and reassuring and I now have a nice bump forming. All the horrible things I was experiencing have now gone but I am starting to get a sore lower back if I sit too long, I have to take a cushion in to work with me.

We have the 20 week scan on the 7th Sept and I can't wait. I am going to find out baby's gender but my husband wants to leave it as a surprise so I'll be the only one who knows :0)

Natnat29 · 17/08/2012 19:44

Glad that all is ok now. Wow on finding out without OH knowing do you think he'll cave and ask you before the baby arrives?

gemmapops · 20/08/2012 10:21

Ha ha! No my OH makes his mind up about something then he sticks to it.

Which can be an admirable quality but his stubbornness about a girls name he loves is starting to annoy me lol I keep telling him that it is important we choose a name that we both like and I just can't warm to his choice.

He likes the name 'Winter' or 'Wynter'. I can see why he likes it but people will shorten it to Winnie or as she gets older kids might tease her or give her a cruel nickname and I can't imagine calling her name out in the park or actually telling other people what her name is.

But what is starting to really annoy me is that he keeps telling me that the people he works with thinks it is a lovely name and that they all want to use it if they have girls. I tell him if the people in work want to carry our baby, give birth to it, raise it and pay for it then they can have a say in what baby is called lol

Is anyone else having difficulty with names and stubborn OHs?

adrianastar · 21/08/2012 16:06

Hahaha Gemmapops -stubborn OH..? Story of my life LOL. We are having a scan this Tursday and we will find out the gender. I am really excited but my DH doesn't seem to be. He is 100% sure that it is a boy and that "he" is going to be born on the 13th of Jan as it is my husband's birthday. WRRR
On another note, can you gus feel your baby yet? I have for few days now and it's such an amazing feeling!
Also - loads of people promissed to give us loads of things so I also didn't buy anything yet and didn't want to take any of these gifts before I know if it's a boy or a girl. So I can see myself visiting everyone after Thursday!

gemmapops · 22/08/2012 20:48

adrianastar i feel for you :0)

I think I have been feeling movements, they feel very low down and weird lol sometimes it's like a flutter and other times it feels like a jabbing elbow.

gemmapops · 24/08/2012 19:02

Have anyone of you had a water birth or are you considering it? If the planets align and the birthing pool is free I am hoping to use it but I was wondering what other peoples experiences are. Did it help with the discomfort? Did you feel more relaxed?

Bunny222 · 26/08/2012 21:55

natnat we've gone for a Silvercross surf travel system. Justified it to myself that as its pram/buggy and car seat it's worth the money. Hope that will be the case! What do you have your eye on?
Adrianastar what a coincidence, my DHs bday is also jan (17th) so he also likes the idea of an arrival on his birthday!

My midwife hasn't mentioned waterbirth, I started wondering about it after seeing a Midwifes episode (BBC2) when the waterbirth looked so calm and easy, but can't imagine it's that easy!!

Have my scan on Thursday, really excited and nervous. Anyone else got scans this week?

Natnat29 · 31/08/2012 10:03

Hi all hope everyone is good. Just wondered if anyone felt the baby move yet? I'm 18 weeks and nothing do far that Ive noticed although as this is my first not sure what to expect? :)

Natnat29 · 31/08/2012 10:04

Hi bunny how did your scan go?

gemmapops · 31/08/2012 10:44

Hi Natnat

I am 19 weeks with my first and I have started to feel some flutterings when I go to bed. They aren't strong enough for my husband to feel yet but it definitely isn't wind lol. Do you have a bump yet? I am starting to show but still sort of looking more wobbly than pregnant ha ha

Natnat29 · 31/08/2012 12:17

Hi Gemma do the flutterings feel weird? Can't wait to feel the baby moving! I have a weird startings of a bump top part of my stomach sticks out a lot more esp at night but bottom bit not got any bigger so have got a strange shelf bump lol- what about you? :)

Bunny222 · 31/08/2012 21:45

Had our scan yesterday, all went fine, such a relief. We didn't find out the sex, want a surprise. Forced my pictures on everyone at work today!

I couldn't work out if I had felt anything yet, but twice during the scan baby did a big movement on the screen at the same moment I felt something, was amazing and such a surprise. Don't think I've felt anything since though.

Any scans coming up?

Natnat29 · 02/09/2012 09:02

Wow bunny that's fab! Can't wait for our scan on 12th sept, we're not going to find out sex either :)

gemmapops · 05/09/2012 22:25

Ah bunny, I'm glad everything is ok :0) I have my scan on Friday and I am super excited.

Natnat it's hard to described how they feel but weird and lovely are two good words. At first it felt like someone swimming past me in a pool lol if that makes sense but now they are definite blunt little pops. My husband still can't feel them yet so I have instructed him to keep his hand on my tummy when we are settling down for the evening.

xx

salt1 · 06/09/2012 11:12

we had scan yesterday, all seems fine, and we are having a girl. decided on the name florence nn flossie x

gemmapops · 08/09/2012 16:01

Awww lovely Salt1, flossie is such a sweet name :0)

We had our scan yesterday and baby was wiggling around causing trouble for the sonographer ha ha. Baby is healthy and growing at the right rate so we are over the moon.
