We have just found out we're expecting baby no 2 in Jan 2012 - how excited? I cannot tell you.

Right now though, I'm bogged down with thoughts at how it could all go wrong instead of enjoying...

We have been trying for over 2 years...so this is a much desired little bubba!!

Hey adriana and congratulations!
Can't say I've had the same problem around the tailbone but have lots of general aches and pains in the abdomen area.
Me and DH fell pregnant way quicker than we expected this time too. He's a bit gutted not to have got more practice in, but I can remember what pregnancy hormones did to my sex drive last time, so I'm sure we'll get plenty more shagging in, just without the intent!

Flossbert · 07/06/2012 20:03

That's great news skinny it's so reassuring isn't it to get past that first hurdle?
george little and often is the only tip from me too. Oh and crisp, crunchy apples in particular were good for the nausea.
I'm only 7 and a bit weeks and I'm going to have to get my maternity clothes out this weekend - work trousers already a leedle bit tight!

SkinnyMarinkADink · 07/06/2012 20:35

Thanks all.

That reassurance has stopped me getting all panicked about the tiniest of things.

Time will fly by now i reckon.

Hi adriana congratulations on your pregnancy, not had a tailbone problem but defiantly the usual aches and groans from what i can remember.

Seems there is a lot of us who didn't expect to fall so quickly.

notsoold · 07/06/2012 23:15

Hi Adriana and congrats.... no tailbone pain but like others it was much quicker than we were told by gp and everybody else....dh feels great somehow???? Like it was all his doing????
Skinny happy for you and everybody else as well I am reading all posts as the wait to my scan is a long one and I am so curious to know how well is everything....will go mental!!!!

adrianastar · 07/06/2012 23:20

Hi Flossbert, I can see we have something in common lol. Its our first though so I think both me and my dh are still in a bit of a shock. I seriously cant wait till the first scan and when 12 weeks finish. Especially that I was too excited and already blubbed it all out... Not very wise... Are you guys waiting until you're 12 weeks?

SkinnyMarinkADink · 08/06/2012 10:05

With dd we only told very close family and kept it quiet however this time literally every single person we know now knows that were expecting.

We said we would keep it to ourselves but neither me nor dh could be quiet lol.

adrianastar · 08/06/2012 12:55

Haha! My dh asked me not to tell anyone until we're sure it's all fine and the next day after we've done the test my sil called me with congratulations! Cheeky boy! The whole family knew by then...

Flossbert · 08/06/2012 13:15

Yeah we couldn't keep it a secret either. Apart from from work. I'm crap at keeping secrets!

american studying whilst pregnant is easy (although i i had awful morning sickness last pregnancy and missed quite a bit) but having a baby and studying is almost impossible. I dont know how im going to do it with 2.

Spoke to tutor this morning and im allowed to be off from mid jan until late march so better than the 6 weeks i had planned. Just means i will qualify for september exam board and not june. Phew, so relieved thats over. Now just to tell the childminder!!!

Lovely to hear about first scans, i cant wait until mine. We have only told people who need to know so far, parents will be told at a later date when i cant hide it anymore because i dont think they will be too thrilled what with DD being so little still and me not having complete my degree.

americaninbritain · 08/06/2012 15:16

goingto I suspected as much, but wasn't sure as this is my first. Also, in the States you get zero maternity leave so women have to go back to work/school straight away which gives a skewed view of what is realistic. Thank goodness for being in the UK Grin. I'll have to see what I can get in before the due date.

adrianastar · 08/06/2012 15:31

americaninbritain - you are joking! How do people manage? I suppose you just pretty much loose your job as soon as you get pregnant? Cause there is no way you can work and look after a newborn......

Goingtorainagain · 08/06/2012 19:37

american so is childcare as expensive in the US then? I told my childminder about the pregnancy today and it is all arranged that she will be looking after the baby 3 days a week from 3 months. Sorted.

Fingers crossed the bean sticks Grin and sticky bean wishes to all of you x

AgathaTrunchbull · 08/06/2012 19:45

LuckyinLondon, I'm due on the same day!

Hello all. We're at 9+6. Actually thought we were further ahead than that until we had our scan today (which was supposed to be a nuchal, but obviously we're not far enough along!). All is well. This is our first and I'm a bit terrified it'll all go horribly wrong, but so far, so good. Only had one week of horrible illness, but my travel sickness has got so much worse. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any pregnancy-friendly solutions?

SkinnyMarinkADink · 08/06/2012 20:23

Evening all wondered if you fancy a giggle at m y expense...

I have some very serious air inside me right now and earlier sat on the toilet i was urmm letting it go..

Dd appeared at the door pointed and shouted 'EWW FART STINK MUMMY'

lovely child Grin

adrianastar · 08/06/2012 20:52

lucky my mum always sticks a plaster over her belly button before travel and swears it helps. Ive never tried it myself as dont have such issues but I suppose its worth a try as you cant loose anything.

allchik · 09/06/2012 20:44

Hi all, I am due on the 8th Jan and very, very nervous.....had a mmc in Feb (first pregnancy) so haven't really been able to enjoy it yet :( Had an early scan at 7 weeks and all was good, strong HB etc....just waiting for my NHS scan now on the 20th.....terrified!!! x x x

gemmapops · 09/06/2012 21:02

Thanks Skinny for the tip but I tried to nibble on things as often as possible but it didn't change anything for me.

AgathaTrunchball I used to suffer horrendous travel sickness when I was little and my Mum reminded me this morning that I used to wear travel bands on my wrists which really helped me. So she went to Boots and bought me a pair to try today because I am suffering with nausea all day everyday. And I have to say, touch wood, that I feel so much better than I have done for the past week. They are safe for mums to be because they use acupressure and there are no drugs or side effects.

ukshop.sea-band.com/

This is the link for the type that I have but they were only about £6 in Boots not £8.15 like on this website.

Flossbert · 11/06/2012 20:27

Just for you, lucky (and me, obvs) I am going to make it my mission to find something that is wine-like in all but it's ABV. Today I am drinking white sorelle, from Tesco where it is currently on BOGOF. It is less bad than the stuff from sainsbos. I saw m and s had a good range of what are patently soft drinks, in wine shaped bottles, which I might try later on in pregnancy (ie when I am defeated in my hunt) but for now, in my mind, apple and blackberry is not an option for my post work tipple!
A PP mentioned schloer, which is ok, but I find it quite sweet.
Anyhoo, hope everyone is doing ok.

CreepyCrawly · 13/06/2012 16:37

Hi all, another January baby due here. My first baby and I'm beyond excited. The doctors thought I was further on than I am, due to irregular periods, so had a scan on Monday (11th) and I'm 9 weeks. EDD is the 14th. It feels like forever away, but I'm sure it'll be here in no time at all!

adrianastar · 14/06/2012 20:18

Hi CreepyCrawly - lucky you. I only just now received the appointment and its for the 6th of July. I cant imagine waiting so long...

SkinnyMarinkADink · 19/06/2012 08:15

Hello everyone how are you all doing?

Bunny222 · 19/06/2012 20:20

Hello all. This thread seems to have gone rather quiet! I had my 2nd scan today all went ok about 8wks and 5 days. Relieved to see that heartbeat. Still feeling a bit sicky and really quite tired noW. How are you all doing???
X

LuckyinLondon · 20/06/2012 08:54

Hi Bunny222! That's fabulous news. Hope you feel better soon.

Flossbert, any luck? I've tried M&S Raspberry and Lemon soda. It's rather nice and in a lovely bottle (nothing like wine, though, sigh!).

I have my 12-week scan a week from tomorrow. I'm terrified but trying not to think too much about it!
