We have just found out we're expecting baby no 2 in Jan 2012 - how excited? I cannot tell you.

Right now though, I'm bogged down with thoughts at how it could all go wrong instead of enjoying...

We have been trying for over 2 years...so this is a much desired little bubba!!

This is only my second post,
I am due on 2nd January. I had my first Obstetrician appointment yesterday (I have hypothyroidism) and my scan. I had tears in my eyes watching the little person jumping around, waving it's arms around!
The have told me that as I will be 41 and with my thyroid problems I will not be allowed to get past 40 weeks so we know it will definitely be born by the 2nd which is weird!
We were trying for 4 years and this was our third go at IVF. It has been such hard work and I can hardly believe that it is happening at last!!
My sickness has started to lift at last, not felt bad at all today although it does get worse as the day goes on which is a pain as I work from 5 till 9.30pm!

Bunny222 · 20/06/2012 21:21

lucky fingers crossed for your scan! How are you doing? Am starting to feel a bit ick, so having ginger tablets, which seems to help.

saluki girl welcome and hope you're starting to feel better soon!

adrianastar · 21/06/2012 11:42

Salukigirl I read your post and I cried - it could be the hormons but I'm soooo happy for you! I truly can not wait for my scan. Two more weeks! It feels really odd as I didn't have any sickness whatsoever. I think if I did it would make it all a bit more real. Suppose I'm just lucky but really worried at the same time.

SkinnyMarinkADink · 21/06/2012 13:22

Hi all.

Very very tired this end. i can seem to fall asleep before 11 -12pm at night then dd is waking up ib the night so i am exhausted.

Unfortunately i have very little patience for poor behaviour.

Got my scan through for the 12th July very excited!

americaninbritain · 22/06/2012 11:35

adrianastar and goingto - According to one teacher friend, her college told her that if she wanted maternity leave she could time the birth with the summer holiday. Another one had to make sure she saved all personal days, sick days, etc. so she could take 1 week off. And on and on the stories go of returning to work almost immediately unless you work for a very understanding company. Childcare is enormously expensive or cheap and not very good, to my understanding; I've been out of the US for quite a few years now so all info is through friends who are still there.

bunny - Great news!

summerinthesun · 22/06/2012 12:39

Yes due at beginning of January!!! Second DC, just sorting my life out now, hopefully will get it all under control before the new baby arrives!

Wuxiapian · 22/06/2012 12:56

8 weeks pregnant now.

I have a fibroid and endometrial polyp which is causing a pinky/browny discharge. Have been told not to worry.

Looking forward to receiving appt for 12 week scan!

Hope everyone's keeping well :)

Bunny222 · 22/06/2012 20:20

Hey ladies. Had to tell the boss today on account of feeling a bit ropey and their out of hours expectations. Reaction was ok, congratulated me but certainly didn't advise taking it easy, resting or letting them know if I'm feeling unwell... Oh well. How are you doing? Think im 9wks today, feeling utterly exhausted.

boysmama72 · 23/06/2012 02:10

hi!
i am also due around the 24th January....i am a little..no, very.. apprehensive about this little one as last year was an mc...i have 2 sons already...age 9 and 6 although they will be 10 and 7 by the time of new baby birth...i have not been to doc yet because of my apprehension..but i know i should go soon. i have had nausea for the last 3 weeks so far...my boobs are swollen and the nipples are occasionally sore...tired beyond belief but then i am a heavy woman already...weeing an awful lot too...ah the first 3 months are the worst, that's for sure...good luck to everyone...take care xx

LuckyinLondon · 23/06/2012 14:43

bunny Must be a relief to have shared the news with your boss? I'm feeling quite ropey these days, too. Told my husband it was like having a 24-hr hangover... every day! Blergh. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and hoping to feel better sometime soon-ish!

boysmama Congrats! :)

tiredteddy · 24/06/2012 19:32

Hi everyone I said hi earlier in the thread I think, or I might just have been lurking? But I'm expecting dc3 in jan around the 21st ish so am about 10 weeks. I've had my booking in appointment with the midwife and am now waiting for the daring scan which will be on the 6th July. Been feeling quite sick and ill but it seems to be easing off a bit now.

LuckyinLondon · 28/06/2012 16:55

I had my 12-week scan (actually, almost 13 weeks now). What a wonderful experience, and so cool to see the little one bopping away in there! I swear, until now, I almost didn't believe there actually was something in my stomach.

All looks normal, thankfully, and the doctor said 'it looks very male'. He's 95 per cent sure it's a boy!

So relieved that's over. I was stressing for weeks.

Bunny222 · 28/06/2012 20:19

Hi all.
Lucky that's great you've had your scan, mine is in two weeks. Do they tell you there and then if everything looks ok with the baby?

LuckyinLondon · 01/07/2012 11:51

Hi Bunny! Enjoy your scan. I was a bit too terrified to relax - plus I was DESPERATE for the loo, and the doc kept pushing on my tummy - but it really is a wonderful experience to see your little baby in there.

The technician or consultant should be able to tell you straight away about the NT test and how the nasal bone looks in regards to Down's. They might also draw some blood, and you'll need to wait a few days for the results.

gemdrop84 · 02/07/2012 08:42

hi ladies, I've been lurking a little while but wanted to join you now I'm a little further on. Expecting our 2nd dc on 21st jan, am now 11wks, very excited and is much wanted as I've had 3 mc's. Going well and first scan on the 11th july! Hope you're all well xx

SkinnyMarinkADink · 02/07/2012 09:04

Hi all.

Just thought id post to see how you are all doing.

I've been better i have shingles so feeling pretty rubbish.

Counting down to my scan next week.

adrianastar · 04/07/2012 15:47

Hi Gem, good luck with your little bean. How far were you before when you mc?
I have my scan this Friday and seriously I have NEVER looked forward to anything as much I do now! I literally can't focus on anything.

Natnat29 · 05/07/2012 09:36

Hi all and congrats!
Had my dating scan yesterday and due on the 30th jan! this will be our first baby and me and fiance are so excited we might actually burst! we have not told anyone yet will be telling our family and our best friends this weekend :)

Complicated24 · 06/07/2012 13:45

I have been lurking for a while too. I have had my 12 week scan (actually nearly 14 weeks now) and was overjoyed to see gorgeous healthy baby looking totally chilled sucking its thumb. We've had a couple of miscarriages so huge relief to get to this stage. Can actually begin to enjoy pregnancy now. Baby due 7 January. My boobs are massive (gone up 2 cup sizes!!!) and tummy bigger but not got a noticeable bump yet. Good luck everyone.

LuckyinLondon · 11/07/2012 18:38

NatNat Congrats!

Complicated24 Congrats to you, too. I'm due on the 7th as well.

gemdrop84 · 11/07/2012 19:13

hi everyone: congratulations and I hope you're all keeping well. adrianstar, I was 7wks pg with 1st mc, 6wks with 2nd mc then 5 wks with 3rd. I've had an amazing first scan today, got a lovely photo and found out I'm 13 wks pg tomorrow, so its a few days further on than I thought. My due date is Jan 17th and I cant wait! x

gemdrop84 · 11/07/2012 19:15

congrats complicated24, it is a huge relief and like you say I think I can enjoy the pregnancy now!

EmiliaM · 13/07/2012 09:49

Hi everyone

I hope you dont mind if I join you. I'm new to all this( mumsnet that is), I'm on baby number 2, due on the 17th of Jan. Had my NT scan yesterday and cant stop staring at the scan photo. Me and hubby are both very happy. My first born is also looking forward to the baby, bless him, he's only 3 and keeps asking where the baby is. Hope you are all starting to feel a bit better now. I stopped having the morning sickness about a week ago but still feeling very tired, boobs are a bit sore but not too bad, also gone up 2 sizes already.
Have any of you heard of the nub theory? Is it acurate or just loads of tosh? :)

gemdrop84 · 13/07/2012 11:49

hi emiliam, im due on the 17th of jan and have a 3yr old dd too! Feeling exactly the same as you, tired, sore boobs and seem to be ballooning (think some of it's wind though Grin). Had our first scan on wed, it was amazing, keep carrying our picture with me as I can't stop looking at it! What's the nub theory?
