We have just found out we're expecting baby no 2 in Jan 2012 - how excited? I cannot tell you.

Right now though, I'm bogged down with thoughts at how it could all go wrong instead of enjoying...

We have been trying for over 2 years...so this is a much desired little bubba!!

hi Katelyn,

Congratulations! We're expecting baby number 3 on 26th January. Have only been trying since January but had 2 mc since then so v nervous too. However, we need to think positive and today we are growing a baby!

How old is your first? We have 2DD aged 7 & 4.

I've got my doc app this Friday. Want to get in the system as early as possible and fingers crossed get an early scan. Have you booked yours yet? x

Katelyn · 21/05/2012 10:56

MY first is 4 too. We have a doctors appointment next Tuesday....like you, to get into the system quickly. We m/c prior to our first - a very distressing time...but like you say, you have to think positive, afterall - there is nothing to suggest having m/c once that you're more likely to m/c again AND the odd of carrying to full term are FAR more likely than NOT.

:-) Good luck to you. x

Well said!

When in january are you due? Have you many symptoms yet? The only ones I have are v sore boobs and slight lower back pain. Was feeling a bit dizzy last week which made me do the test, but that has worn off now. I hate early pg - it's such a stressful time!

Katelyn · 21/05/2012 12:10

22nd Jan I think - but dates I guess will be more concrete at my first scan.

V. Sore boobs, like you, extreme tiredness and tummy tightening's which I had with my little boy ...

I hate early pregnancy too....I cannot wait to get to 12 weeks! Then I'll relax and start....shopping!! ;-)

Hedging my bets, my best guess of lmp makes due date 31/12 but I'm very unsure of dates - will probably be early Jan!
About 8 weeks now and feeling a bit icky most of the time. Will be my third and I seem to remember with the last two, the sick feeling carrying on to about week 14 (I'd thought it would go at the magic 12).
Am eating often which kind of helps, drinking lots and trying to get to bed early to avoid getting over tired.
Other major symptom is being cold most of the time, but then uncomfortably hot in bed - just don't seem to be able to control my body temp!
Got my scan date through but I'll be 13+3 - I don't think I can hide it at work until then, but really don't want to say anything before....

Dexidoo · 21/05/2012 14:01

Hello ladies!
Lurking in the pregnancy forum and found some other eager testers! By LMP I'm only 4 weeks so EDD should be end of Jan.
I've had sore boobs for a week and a stitch like ache on and off for a couple of days- was expecting AF and stunned by BFP yesterday.
I'm planning on holding off booking in at GP's for a couple of weeks.

Can I just ask advice? I'm considering having a private early scan as we go to Greece when I should be 7 weeks. I know I'd worry about ?ectopic while away if I had any pain. Do you think they would do one at 6 1/2 weeks?

Gorran · 21/05/2012 14:02

I'm due sometime in January, not absolutely sure when as I can't recall when my last period was, so I guess I'll wait for the scan to date me accurately.

This is number three for us, and a complete shock (accident!) - I'm still not feeling overjoyed about it, but it's happening and I'm sure all will be ok.

Katelyn - I also have two DDs age 4 and very nearly 7 (in two weeks) - were your gaps planned? As you can see from above, this wasn't and I'm really scared about going back to baby days, nappies, prams etc. Just as I was about to get some freedom with my youngest DD starting school in September! It would be lovely to speak to someone who's positive about these gaps. All I can foresee are problems; getting all homework/reading done, days out, dragging the baby along to the girls' activities etc. I really need to stop being so pessimistic about it all...

Gorran · 21/05/2012 14:04

Apologies, I meant CountryKitty, not Katelyn.

CountryKitty · 21/05/2012 14:18

Hi Gorran

Congratulations! Yes all our gaps were completely planned but DD1 wasn't! She was a complete life shattering surprise, worst timing ever - we were in the middle of our professional exams, on student salaries, just married (she was a wedding night baby) and quite young @ 22 etc... However, wouldn't change a thing now!

DD2 was timed for DD1 starting nursery school and we decided at Hogmanay to try for DC3. Fell pg straight away but mc at 7 weeks, then got pg 2 weeks after mc and mc'd again at 5 weeks. Got pg again (with this one) 6 weeks after 2nd mc - if you follow! Hopefully this one will stick!

Can't wait to go back to the baby stage and think this one will be easier than DD2 as the 2 girls will be at school during the day leaving me with time alone (in peace) to enjoy the new baby. With DD2 I felt that DD1 wasn't at nursey long enough to enjoy any special time with DD2 etc. Homework time is always chaotic in our house anyway so not too worried about that!

How does your DH feel? Is he in shock too! I always love to hear of other surprise babies as ours brought so much unexpected joy and happy times with her!! x

Gorran · 21/05/2012 14:25

Congratulations to you too! We're reasonably young as well (I'm 30, DH is 31), it's nice to hear of others who have started their families early, I always feel very young compared to many of my daughters' friend's mummys.

My DH is in complete shock too, we found out last Thursday and still trying to get our heads around it. Yes, the gap will be lovely in as much as having time alone with the baby whilst the girls are at school, and being able to nap when the baby does if we've had a bad night etc. I really can only see negatives at the moment (how will I cope if the baby's been up all night, how will I get everything done that needs to be done etc.), hopefully I'll be able to see things in a better light soon!

Nice to hear that your unexpected DD1 brought you so much joy and happiness, I'm sure our unexpected DC3 will bring the same, once I've got my head around it!

CountryKitty · 21/05/2012 14:31

HaHa know what you mean about being the young mummy! Both DH & I are 31 and are always the youngest parents. Where I stay, people tend to start having their families in their mid thirties and are still popping them out well into their 40's. I used to feel quite self-conscious about it, but now, with old age, i rather like it!!

SkinnyMarinkADink · 21/05/2012 14:58

Just clicked on thread.

Am also due around 20th January 2013 by online calculations. have today books midwife appointment for in a few weeks.

Bit of a coincidence here...op you spell katelyn the same way we spell my dd name. plus your pregnant around the same time as me

Cejay8 · 22/05/2012 11:45

I'm due January 16th, already been to GPs and have booked MW appointment as currently on holiday for couple of weeks in Greece.Grin. This will be our second, but like others have said I can't really begin to enjoy it until 12 week scan.x

CountryKitty · 22/05/2012 13:21

Hi,

IKWYM re the 12 wk scan. If doc wont refer me for an early scan will book a private scan around 7-8 wks (if still pg fingers crossed) as we have booked our summer hol when I would be 11 & 12 wks pg and don't want to sit all hol worrying about dating scan.

Hope you're enjoying your hol! x

salt1 · 23/05/2012 10:09

i too am due in january, around 27th acoording to online calculations. i am soooooooo excited, but then i keep thinking dont get carried away it is too early. booked drs app for a weeks time. it is very strange to keep yo yoing between happy and scared. i am 37 and this is my first. would love to hear how everyone is doing/ coping xxx

Polyethyl · 23/05/2012 11:18

I too am due on 27th Jan, which is also my and my mum's birthdays. This is my first. I've only been married for 6 weeks. I feel fine, no tiredness. I'm finding this all a bit unreal. I haven't told anyone yet, not even my husband. I'm getting used to the idea still.

salt1 · 23/05/2012 16:14

wow polyethyl all on the 27th that is amazing. it is all a bit unreal isnt is. glad to hear you are feeling fine, i am too, though possible a little tired x

Polyethyl · 23/05/2012 18:44

Bit daunting really. I don't know anyone who gave birth on their due date, but everyone will hope I will, to complete the set of birthdays. My mother has often told me how painful it was giving birth to me, how she screamed in pain on her birthday. (I was face pubis.) So I'm not too keen for history to repeat itself too closely.

Angielka · 23/05/2012 19:28

Hello ladies!
I found out a couple of weeks ago, and seems I'm due mid-Jan. Week 7 or so now and feeling sick sick sick... but really happy. This will be our second - DD is 20 months, so will be almost 2 1/2 when her little bro/sis arrives. Can't quite believe it, as it happened almost immediately when we decided to try for another. I had some cramping and spotting for a week or so once I'd found out, and was so sure it was a bad sign, but now things seem to have settled down.
I agree with you all about it being a stressful time - can't wait to get to 12 weeks.
Looking forward to hearing your experiences Grin

abigboydidit · 23/05/2012 20:53

Congratulations all! Dipping a tentative toe into the thread. Due end of January but have had some slight spotting and have had a MC in the past that started the same way. Early scan on 6th June so trying to stay positive. I have a DS who just turned 1 this week! He took 2 years to conceive so we thought we'd start trying early just in case we had another wait (DH & I are both the wrong side of 35!) so we were stunned when got the positive result. TBH I'm on a total rollercoaster of emotions. Go from being scared that it has happened so fast, to worrying it is too soon and not fair on DS, to being terrified at the thought of potentially losing it. The joy of hormones!

iwantbabies · 23/05/2012 21:13

Congrats ladies!! May I also dip in a tentative toe? I got a BFP today and am around four weeks. Very early days. 1st time I've been pregnant. Quite unbelievable as I've just had an appointment to discuss fertility treatment. It all feels surreal and I'm frightened to get emotionally attached to the idea. Part of me thinks I'm pregnant today so enjoy it but the pessimistic side of me thinks it's all too good to be true. I've had a touch of brown spotting today which worried me but I've read that it could be implantation. Does anyone have experience of this? Roll on 12 weeks!

EmpireBiscuit · 23/05/2012 21:17

Congratulations to all! I'm expecting my first on 19 January, very excited but also very scared.

Bunny222 · 24/05/2012 00:01

Congrats ladies. Again, a very tentative toe here. Got a BfP today 2-3 weeks according the Clearblue. But had spotting just over a week ago for a few days, is this normal? Have PCOS and cycle has been irregular and this is my first time possibly expecting. Don't know whether to believe it. Have has v sore boobs for about a week. Should I go to the GP to confirm it? Would welcome your advice.

iwantbabies · 24/05/2012 06:02

Hi bunny, I am in the same position as you but perhaps a little earlier. I have PCOS and very irregular cycles. From what I can see online brown spotting is a healthy sign of pregnancy but if you have pain and/or red blood or prune juice like discharge you need to seek medical advice immediately. I am going to make an appointment with my GP today in the hope of an early scan in a couple of weeks. In my opinion it's best to start antenatal care as early as possible. Hope that helps.

SkinnyMarinkADink · 24/05/2012 11:12

iwantbabies how do you go about getting an early scan?
