hi all.

i also have weight issues - am about 7 stone overweight, and know I need to lose some of it. I lost a stone in February this year (the shred!) but then we had problems with the house move, then moved, and it's been busy busy busy ever since - with DS being up all bloody night too, the last thing I wanted to do after getting him to sleep at 9pm was exercise! Now, the new pregnancy is my excuse, so I will get it out of the way, and a few months to establish bfing, then I have GOT to lose weight.

luckily my MW just said I should try not to gain much weight this pg, so will try and do that - I only gained a stone last time, and obviously lost it giving birth to a 9lb baby and huge placenta!! I suspect the hospital MW when I get my appt will be more scathing. one doctor in the states last time

no sickness here today, and boobs nowhere near as sore. but DS did have 2 mammoth feeds this morning, so they are probably still shellshocked and empty from that. still totally paranoid that I'll lose this baby for some reason :( mc in august really knocked me for 6!

I was looking at the baby centre pg app on my phone yesterday though, and was reminded about all the comparisons to fruit. Apparently baby is size of a kidney bean this week (week 8) and will be a grape next week. It will be a pumpkin by birth. I wonder who comes up with these comparisons?!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 26/10/2011 10:02

Awful night sleep here too :( chronic tooth ache which took over the whole right hand side of my face.

I have weight issues too, have done since pg with dc#1 they aren't to harsh with you, you'll be offered a dietician etc, which I plan to take them up on this time.

Tooth agony ache is now a dull ache I felt like I was going insane all night! Makes me feel so awful for the dcs when they were teething.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 26/10/2011 10:05

biglips body armour is the only way

warra · 26/10/2011 10:08

Morning all! Sickness really kicked in this morning! 6 weeks today! Smells from the lamb stewing in the slow cooker really not helping!

Florin · 26/10/2011 10:44

Had my scan and there is a baby! A little early for a heart beat she kept thinking she saw it but wasn't sure so going back next Friday for a rescan to check. Feeling a lot more positive now!

Kayzr · 26/10/2011 10:46

Morning.

I am about 3 stone overweight. I had gone from 15 stone down to 12 stone last year which I was very happy about. But after moving in with DP I seem to have put it all back on again. I am now about 14 stone but still a stone lighter than I was when I had DS2. I was about 8 stone when I got pregnant with DS1 and I would hate to go back to that. I look at pictures of myself and although I know I felt well I look so ill and thin.

Kveta I did the same with DS2. I had put on a stone while I was pregnant with him. Then he weighed 10lb 5oz and so I ended up being my pre DS2 weight within an hour or 2 of him being born.

misslaugh I have plenty of sympathy for you. I don't think I really slept at all last night. Mine was caused by a giant spider. I have a huge phobia of spiders. There was huge one last night in my bedroom. I managed to hoover it up. But then I couldn't sleep for fear of there being another one. Sad

Sickness is still coming and going here. I am fine if I eat and don't get hungry but I don't want to put on much weight so this always eating isn't good. My boob still ache and I have moments when my nipples are really really hurting.

Kayzr · 26/10/2011 10:47

Cross posts Florin Thats great Grin

misslaughalot · 26/10/2011 10:48

Florin that's amazing! I'm soooo jealous that you've been able to see your little one already, you must be walking on air right now!

Miniangel · 26/10/2011 11:08

Florin I am so happy for you. Were you able to see the lil one on the screen? I keep feeling that I have imagined this pg and I can't wait for my scan, it is next Thurs.

ecstatica · 26/10/2011 11:11

oh Florin that's great news!!!! :-)
I still have 10 days to go....

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 26/10/2011 11:14

Oh wow florin Grin

karron · 26/10/2011 12:39

Hello due 5th June and am in total shock as we weren't trying for a baby. Have only just felt to get my life back together after birth of my little man who is now 14 months. Keep alternating between total melt down and extreme excitment, dam these pregnancy hormones.

Rrrrayray · 26/10/2011 13:28

Welcome Karron x

birdofthenorth · 26/10/2011 13:29

Welcome Karron! My DD is the same age as your DS. Planned in my case but I'm still wondering how it's going to cope!

Feeling rough today, nauseas & knackered. Can't concentrate on work. Want to go back to bed!

Congrats Florin, look forward to hearing news of a heartbeat next week!

Kayzr, Seriously, Ecstatica, Kveta, JJ and everyone else with weight worries... me too! About 3 stone overweight here. A stone of that is weight I never lost from my last pregnancy. Lost 4 lbs so far this pregnancy due to nausea but I know not piling on the pounds will be be really tough in the second & third trimesters.

Kayzr I have a gigantic spider phobia so you have my sympathies!

birdofthenorth · 26/10/2011 13:31

How I'm going to cope not how it's going to cope... That sounds like I'd be leaving the new baby to fend for itself!

Kveta · 26/10/2011 14:22

yay Florin great that you saw your baby! hope he or she is going to show you a nice strong heatbeat next week :)

welcome to Karron, put yourself on the list!

we've nearly filled this thread already, how did that happen? Any ideas for a name for the next one?!

TeaandHobnobs · 26/10/2011 15:07

Quick question for those of you who have been there before (or anyone with suggestions!) - I'm going to visit my 34wk pg friend tonight, for potentially the last time before her LO arrives. She's had a bad week, having been in hospital over the weekend after losing a bit of fluid, and is now probably going to be signed off work and be pretty much on bedrest. Knowing her, she will find it immensely frustrating!

I wanted to take something to cheer her up a bit - am going to take flowers Thanks, but I thought about a nice treat too. What would a 34wk pregnant lady really like as a treat? (don't say pate or unpasteurised cheese! Grin)

Dalrymps · 26/10/2011 15:42

Hmm, how about some cupcakes or a good book/magazine to read?

Dalrymps · 26/10/2011 15:53

Pressed post too soon!

Welcome to all newbies and congratulationsGrin

Sorry about all those who have had a crap nights sleep and who are feeling rubbish.

The sickness continues here. Have decided to sign myself off work then see how I feel after the 7 days, well
I've had 2 of those days already so 5 days.

Had my booking in last night, the midwife who did it is always very thorough. I was there from 9pm till 10.45pm Shock

Anyway she booked my 12 week scan for 23rd nov so glad I have a date to look forward to (fingers crossed)

BumpleLeeds · 26/10/2011 16:13

Hello everyone!

Just found out last week that I'm pregnant and due on 17 June. This wasn't planned and tbh I'm feeling very daunted. OH is also completely thunderstruck. He just keeps talking about all the things he's not going to be able to do anymore. Sad Does anyone else have an OH who's not too sure about all of this??

Was booked in with the midwife this morning. No symptoms yet - keep thinking that this doesn't feel real. Perhaps when the symptoms arrive thing's will make more sense...

Dalrymps · 26/10/2011 16:34

Welcome Bumple Sorry this has come as a bit of a shock to you both and you're feeling daunted. I haven't really got experience of feeling that way but my ds1 was a surprise and it took a little time to adjust.

I would say that it's early days yet and both of you have plenty time to get your heads round this. Yes, I suppose there are some things that you can't do once you have a baby but most things are just harder rather than being impossible iyswim? Also, maybe explain to your partner that although some things might be harder or out of the question at first, as they get a little older you can easily let family and friends watch them whilst you go and do 'adult' things. So really it's just the initial year or two where you're quite restricted and it gets easier after thatSmile I would also say that you don't fully realise it now (I didn't and no one really can comprehend it) but what you're probably not both able to imagine yet is the totally amazing, super world changing amount of love you will feel for your baby once he/she is born. For some this comes immediately and others takes a while to grow but it is just the most wonderful feelingSmile Somehow it puts everything in to perspective and you suddenly find you would to anything for this little being.

Give yourselves time to adjust and work through the emotions you feel together. You might feel out of control or a bit down or upset. It doesn't all have to be like in the movies but good to keep talking. Even though my first was wanted, the fact he was a surprise made me feel a little as if an alien was taking over my body whilst I was pregnant. It's a rollercoaster of emotions but a good one overall.

I'm really sorry if any of this sounds patronising, it's really not meant that way and I certainly don't profess to be any kind of expert.

Hopefully one of us will have been through the same and will be able to give you some wise words. This is just my perspectiveSmile

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 26/10/2011 17:16

Welcome bumple!

My dp is exactly the same and this is #3!!!! He was fine with the first too but all I'm getting is an outpouring of 'greif' and negative comments about how 3 is soo much harder than 2 etc etc. Its hard :(

misslaughalot · 26/10/2011 18:10

Well considering I didn't sleep much I've had a pretty good day. Meeting up with friends for a Chinese tonight (although still not ready to tell people yet) any advice for foods to avoid?

ecstatica · 26/10/2011 19:12

Misslaughalot - avoid chicken!!!! LOL, 2 of my DC went to grandma's earlier I've got peeps house viewing tomorrow so i got me and DS2 grilled chicken and salad I took all the chicken out it tasted 'chickeny' and weird, i felt cannibal like, lost for words! Enjoy ur night :-) Hope you don't read this after having chikkie chow mein :-)

Hi Bumple i think its only natural everyone reacts differently congratulations he's just probably a bit scared -- aren't we all :-) hugs x

In very strange mood. Went into city centre with DS2 which was really quite pleasant, he was so helpful. Got some perfume, creams, hair treatment, bits and pieces, pretty jammies!!! This is good after moping about pukey for so long but i wonder how much longer it will last. The ginger sweets worked well for the nausea outside :-)

As someone who likes Waterloo Rd I'm off to make a coca cola on ice and retreat for an hour, bath, jammies and bed.

Hurray for us pregnant ladies -- happy vibes

sending happy vibes lol -- must've been something in the water!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 26/10/2011 19:37

Welcome karron & Bumple!

Florin - congrats on seeing your little one for the first time today!

Thanks to everyone for letting me know I'm not the only one worried about weight issues - I logged on at lunchtime for a quick read (but didn't have time to post) and reading that other people feel the same really helped. Feeling much more positive about it tonight now, so thanks.

Well, I didn't make the gym - my gym equipment is in an outbuilding and my DVD player has finally given up after nearly 7 years out there with no heat in winter and about 30 degrees in summer! After DH poked at it with tools for a bit trying to make it work we just gave up and came back in. Much as I want to be fit and healthy, I really can't go on the treadmill without a DVD on, I'll go mad just staring at the wall - DH has promised to fix it at the weekend or get me a new one, bless him.

Have had a few bouts of period-type pain / cramps today which has been annoying. Don't think there's anything wrong (assume it's just stuff stretching & settling in) but it's very distracting and I had to go for a wander round the building while it wore off as couldn't sit still at my desk! Anyone else had this?

Still no call from the midwife to arrange a booking in appt - I'm thinking she might leave it until I've had the appointment with the doc next Monday (I'm really not going to be impressed if they've booked me in for this doc's appt and there isn't a specific reason or need for it!).

Hope everyone's having a good evening!
