Congratulations mini! You must be over the moon!

Sorry to all of you feeling sick around food, not fun at all! My DH is waiting for the day I say I feel sick when he is near me, happened each time before, it was his aftershave and moisturiser!

Congratulations on your little neice Kayzr love the name Maggie.

milly not sure about a vest with support. I made sure the straps were quite tight on my bra so i felt the support but it was still comfy. I suppose if you can adjust the straps on the vest it would work. You'll soon know, try and it see if it helps. Completely understand about just knowing your boobs are there!

Were going away first thing for the weekend and then Paultons on Monday so am expecting to be shattered by Tuesday! Will look forward to reading how everyone was over the weekend and I hope you all have a relaxed, happy, and puke free weekend! xx

ffnorm · 13/10/2011 17:52

Wow, it's been seriously busy on the thread since I last logged in - can't wait til the sky and Internet get installed on Saturday!!! Welcome to all the new peeps!!

Another symptomless person here... It's nice to not be nauseas but the symptoms reassure you that you are still pregnant!

Looks like we are going to be a nice big group!!

ceeej · 13/10/2011 20:43

Yay miniangel that's fantastic news and Babysaurus I just noticed we are due on the same day, how exciting. I don't think it's really sunk in for me yet that if all goes well I will be having a baby, the baby part feels like a bit of an abstract concept still.

LadyGrace I had a sling with DS2 and it was brilliant. I have a feeling I don't have it now though but I'll get another if I can't find it.

I am shattered. I don't remember feeling so shattered so early with the boys.

Miniangel · 14/10/2011 07:20

Good morning . Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :) Hope you all slept well.
Ceeej & LadyGrace - I can totally relate to the wanting some evidence - scan or the actual baby.

Congratulations Kayzr Maggie is such a beautiful name.

I woke up feeling a lil sick and had to constantly pee during the night. Anyone else has urine infection so early on?

Rrrrayray · 14/10/2011 08:25

Morning all

Woke up and went to wee this morning climbed back into bed thinking 5am or so and then DH alarm went off, so slept pretty soundly.

Am also one waiting for scan evidence! :-)

Off to my parents for weekend as DH away.

vix1980 · 14/10/2011 08:44

Hiya, thanks carty for the tips on the bach flower remedy, went and bought it on wednesday evening, yesterday i slept till 7am then today 6am so it is getting later, couldn't be getting up at 4.30am anymore, i was turning into a zombie, now im up early im lucky as i work from home and my bed is so close so i pop in for an afternoon nap too!

Finally visited the doctor on wednesday morning, very self important smug little t££t he was, after the last mc i asked if i could be put in for an early scan which id been told i was entitled to his response..... Oh so your intention is to keep it then. Actually couldnt believe a doctor would say that, but ive had trouble with him previously, as it was open surgery you have no control over who you see, anyway ive made an appt with another doctor who specialises in ante-natal care next week so hopefully will be better.

Were going out with one of dp's on saturday night and he rung last night to say he'd got us a lift of a mutual friends, they were discussing where to go and i heard him asking on the phone well thats if she wants to drink, dp said that id been ill the past week so we would see, no sooner then 5 mins after putting the phone down he text to it was very intriguing i had been "ill" and "wouldnt be drinking". really didnt want anyone knowing yet as its still really early and i wanted to get past the 6 week point after last time, but hes the type who would of hassled me to have a drink so at least he will keep quiet a bit now. Dp only found out last night after he asked me outright, i dont know what i was thinking trying to keep it to myself!

millyv · 14/10/2011 09:36

Morning Ladies!

I had a pretty good nights sleep, was gone by 10pm and woke up when the dreaded alarm went of at 7.30 this morning. It seems to me that once I'm asleep I'm not so bad at getting up for the toilet although I did get up twise whilst trying to drop off!

Vix1980 I know how you are feeling about the going out and not drinking thing, it's a huge give away isn't it if you can't find a good enough reason! I am still struggling to find a water tight one for this family party I have to be at next weekend! I can't use the illness/antibiotics excuse as apart from the fact I usually drink on them my brother is a doctor and would interogate me as to which tablets I was on and then he'd tell me if I could or couldn't drink on them..... any excuse ideas welcome!

I have started sneezing this morning, hope it's not going to turn into a cold - I hate them! Hope everyone has a great day! :) xx

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/10/2011 09:58

millyv, you can say that you're on a health kick for a month, or a diet before Christmas, or that you've got bad heartburn and the doc has told you to stay off spicy food and alcohol for a while and see it it improves.

In extreme circumstances you can accept a drink but take AGES over it and pour it away/down your DH's throat when no-one is looking.

Ok tentativeness over - did a clear blue digi this morning and it tells me I am 2 - 3 weeks. That means 4 - 5 in doctor speak, right? So I think I have now calculated my due date as 21 June (although based on my LMP it will be earlier than that)

ceeej · 14/10/2011 10:52

Waves to Biglips and TeaandHobnobs, welcome aboard

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the doc Vix1980, that's so rude.

I have also been struggling with people noticing me not drinking, during the week I've been telling people that I'm on a diet and only drinking at the weekend and at the weekend I've been trying to arrange to meet people for lunch instead of dinner so it's less of an issue. We had one family thing with the in-laws where we came up with a very elaborate reason why I had to drive and at my best mates wedding where I was a bridesmaid I had to keep accepting drinks then handing them over to DH when no one was looking.

Kayzr · 14/10/2011 11:00

I'm going out for a curry tomorrow night and I'm also wondering how to get round the drinking situation. My boys go to their dads every other weekend and so I usually go out. I don't want to use the antibiotics thing as everyone seems to use it. Not sure what I'll say yet.

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/10/2011 11:13

You know what? Perhaps it is just best to give no reason and say simply 'Oh, no, maybe later. I'm not in the mood just yet' and leave it at that. If anyone jokes that you're pregnant say 'god I hope not' and change the subject.

OP posts:
vix1980 · 14/10/2011 11:58

I like the heartburn excuse saying the doctor has advised you to stay of alcohol and spicy food, this did actually happen to me once. So could be true. the worst for me will be on sunday, lunch at in laws house who are heavy drinkers and smokers, i cant bear the smell of smoke at the moment and she uses oil to cook everything in, i swear i had a fried salad in her house once!

She's ued to me not drinking as im not a bit drinker just 1 or 2 when im out and not really in the house, but it will be hard to say no to even the 1 or 2.

So many people now pregnant on this thread, must be something in the water xx

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/10/2011 12:12

btw, you do all know that there is actually no evidence that alcohol harms the baby in moderate quantities don't you, and a 'little' evidence that moderate consumption is actually beneficial.

The 'theoretical' risk times are between 5-7 weeks but I think that is because it is when the facial features are developing, and facial features are often an indication of FAS. There isn't even a theoretical risk in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

Course I'm not talking about it being okay to down a bottle of vodka a night, although, many women who do have healthy children.

OP posts:
ceeej · 14/10/2011 12:42

yeah its a difficult one to judge as FAS was originally recognised in kids of alcoholics and as you said, there's very little evidence on the effects of moderate quantities (although some people think the one that showed benefits didn't control for socioeconomic status properly). The kind of stats they use is a bit out of my league so I'm struggling to make my mind up on the data. I think I'll probably not worry about the odd glass of wine with a meal in second and third trimesters. At the mo I'm actually finding it harder to not eat ripened soft cheese than not drink, I had to make a tartiflette last week so I could eat some.

millyv · 14/10/2011 12:50

Thanks for your excuses! To be honest I think it will be too much hassle for me to make up an excuses about a doctor as 1. my dad would know it's a lie as I haven't been out of work and 2. My brother always re-examines us to make sure the doctor is correct and 3. I've never had heart burn before so would have to properly revise the internet on all of the symtoms and possible things the doctor could have said to me.... far to complex!!

I think I might just have 1 glass of wine and try and make it last all night, when someone comes around to top it up make up an excuse of oh not just yet..... A close friend of mine who had a little girl last week used to drink throughout her pregnancy - not properly drinking I should add, but if she was going out for a meal or it was a special occassion she would always have 1 glass!

With you on the cheese thing.. so many nice things we have to do without! I do have a question about food we are supposed to avoid - where do we stand on prawns? Are we supposed to avoid all shell fish or just the ones you eat raw?

xx

Florin · 14/10/2011 14:03

Can I join, tested this morning after putting it off for a few days after a bfn from testing early. Line came up in seconds very pleased as have been trying for 22 months and been on clomid. Dh also delighted!
Think if all goes well I'll be due 19 June
Can I ask if anyone is having mild cramps. I have been having them on and off for about 2 weeks, hoping it's normal stretching but it's worrying me!

Kayzr · 14/10/2011 14:09

Hello Florin Congratulations. I've been having some cramps, I've had them in all of my pregnancies now.

Millyv Its only raw shellfish as far as I know. In the booklet I got given by the GP it says just make sure its cooked thoroughly.

My boob are in agony!! Morning sickness isn't as bad as yesterday today, more in waves of nausea rather than feeling sick all day.

millyv · 14/10/2011 14:20

Welcome Florin Congratulations on your BFP!! :) I have been having cramps for the last few days, I can't say they are painful as they aren't but you are aware of them going in - if that makes any sense?!?! I don't think you are alone, it was certainly a comfort for me to read other people were having the same, other than that I'm symptomless apart from slightly sore boobs!

Thanks for the info Kayzr, I'm a really big fish/shellfish eater - I have read the info about only eating certain fish a few times a week or avoiding other fish totally but forgot to check up on the prawn situation! I hope your MS calms downs soon!

I can't say I've had much on the nausea front just yet, apart fromwhen DH sprayed his lynx yesterday morning and it flipped my stomach and a paricularly stinky delivery man came in the office yesterday! However I have noticed if I am hungry I feel a bit odd, being having random slices of toast and that seems to have helped!

DH told me about ginger nut biscuits - apparently they were a life saver for his sister during her pregnancies, something about gingers calms your stomach? I'm hoping there is something else that works though as I hate ginger! Might be worth a shot for anyone suffering already?

Xx
