Morning all, glad to hear milly & lady your spotting has stoped and everyone slept well.

My DH spent the night last night writing down his favourite names, listened with one ear, don't want to plan too early. We found a name for DS straight away and by the time he arrived we hated it and changed it!

Found out with both DC the sex so this time I think we are going to try and not find out, will depend if I can be patient or not, which I am not very good at.

Got so much to do today and a sick DD still which is frustrating but had a good nights sleep so am feeling awake so shall keep going til I drop! Boobs have stopped hurting but did wear a bra to bed which I think helped.

All the ladies expecting 3rd DC, what are you doing about cars? Think we wil have to get new car but have no idea which one and need to fit a big dog in too! Any slim booster seats thoughts?

Thanks, have a good day all.xx

millyv · 13/10/2011 09:53

Glad everyone got a good nights sleep!

Dh doesn't want to find put and I have always said I would but to be honest I really do like the idea of a surprise now it's happened! At least I'll try and go for as long as I can before caving in!

The strawberry is a new model they are supposed to be bringing out this year.

Xx

MyMamaToldMe · 13/10/2011 10:19

Ohh just had a quick look at the strawberry - looks very nice - like a sleeker version of the cherry! Hmmm....

Carty do you wear a normal bra at night or do you have one of those sleep ones? I've seem them advertised and if it will help my boobs not to ache so much, I will buy one.

MammaInTheMaking · 13/10/2011 10:42

Must say i've been eyeing up the iCandies too. Will want a whole travel system in 1 so car seat, chair, carry cot etc. Tentatively mentioned this to DP yesterday and he was in total agreement. Really need to keep my feet on the ground though...on Monday i've got my GP appointment and this will also be the point in the last pregnancy where i miscarried. Just need to get over that hurdle.

After saying how well i was sleeping last night i had a shocker. Have got myself a coke to perk me up this morning. A coke here and there is ok isn't it?

Really pleased your spotting has settled milly & lady. It's so scary isn't it. Just need our bodies to play the game and keep our stress levels down. I've been much calmer this time round which i'm hoping is making my body happier.

DP and I are definitely going to keep the sex a surprise for the birth. It's girls galore in both of our families so my money's on a girl.

Welcome to the thread Anna :)

babysaurus · 13/10/2011 11:26

Hello everyone, and thank you for the warm welcome.

I am still semi hesitant about joining this thread properly as its such early days but I will be logging in and having a read even if I am not posting much yet.
Currently not having many major symptoms, only very mild which may be largely in my head half the time. Is anyone else not feeling it much yet...? (I do realise these things vary massively from person to person but it's hard to think of much else at the moment!)

My booking in appointment is on the 24th October, and I have also been 'fast tracked' (I didn't really want or need to be, but apparently it has to be done) to see numerous medics as I am a Type 1 Diabetic. This also happened last time, where I can the MMC spotted at the 12 week scan, so, stupidly or not, is making me rather nervous!

BTW - am not normally neurotic, and hope to be back to my normal self soon! Roll on 12 weeks, eh?!

ReadySteadyDrink · 13/10/2011 11:34

Milly and Lady, I am so glad the spotting has settled. Welcome Anna and congrats! Mamma fingers crossed all goes well past your hurdle!

I am glad you all seem to have slept well. I however, have 'caught' what you had, and woke at 5.30 and couldn't get back to sleep :-(

We kept the sex a surprise during the pregnancy with DS, we both felt really strong about it. This time, DH also wants to keep it a surprise. So, I think we will just wait. :-)

Any of the second/third-timers - did any of you have any probs in your previous pregnancies? I had borderline Gestational Diabetes (GD), so I am trying to eat healthily from now on. Anyone else had GD previously?

ceeej · 13/10/2011 11:37

Glad most people managed to sleep. Think we'll find out the sex so we have some time to work out a name especially as friends have used a lot of the names we like.

Trying to resist looking at things like prams just yet but will definitely need advice when I give it. We've been having lots of discussions about where to have it as I want home birth and DH would prefer to be in hospital. We only live a 5 min drive from Tommies though so could get there pretty sharpish if something goes wrong. Guess it depends on what the midwives think too.

ReadySteadyDrink · 13/10/2011 11:37

babysaurus (great name BTW!) - I don't have many symptoms either. Just a missed period, and tender boobs!

I had MS (well bad nausea only) the first time around, so I am hoping it doesn't start as I have to look after DS. I can't remember when it started first time round, but read on t'interweb that it generally starts week 6 and gets worse between week 6-8 and tails of at week 12.

Kveta · 13/10/2011 11:41

hey babysaurus - my wee sister is a type 1 too (and epileptic) - she had a couple of losses before her wee boy finally arrived earlier this year - he's a huge baby though! was 6lb 12 oz at 32 weeks!! but doing really really well :) hope it all goes ok for you.

DH and I were talking about names yesterday because I've had my heart set on 1 girls name for a while, but DS has 2 little friends with the same name, so I've gone off it now. Anyway, we have agreed on a girls name, but have no idea about a boys name. the problem is, FIL and BIL speak no english, and DH pronounces things weirdly sometimes, so we need a name that we like, and which the whole family can pronounce. DS has the most popular boys name of his year of birth too, so we don't want anything too wacky, as it may not sit right with his name. Also, my name is unusual, and DH's is very unusual in the UK, and our surname is unique in the UK, so we don't want a unique first name too! Oh well, as dilemmas go, it's quite a nice one, deciding a name!!

I'm not looking at pushchairs yet, but think we'll need a double for a while. I may borrow one if I can though.

Mamma - I had a diet coke every day when pg with DS - I did check, and more than that is probably not advisable, but it was one of the few things I could stomach. I don't drink tea or coffee, so for me it's the only caffiene I have in the day! so I imagine a coke is no big deal :) (DH and I went to the world of coca cola too whilst I was pg, and tried all the different beverages manufactured by the coke corporation, and diet coke was one of the least objectionable by a long way!!)

millyv · 13/10/2011 12:15

Hey!

I haven't been looking for prams or anything yet, saw the I candy a while ago and then went pram shopping with a friend a few months back and decided if we did get pregnant it would be the brand of choice! Everyone seems to have the bugaboo at the moment so it's nice to go for something different!

My DH has decided that he is going to be mr cautious and said he doesn't want us getting too excited and planning things as it's still early days... Such a spoilsport but I suppose he is right in done respects! I think it's a bit different for a man as its not happening to them and so it becomes real when they see the first scan?!

Xx

babysaurus · 13/10/2011 12:20

Kveta its good to hear from someone who knows the difference between type's 1 and two. I often get asked how fat I used to be or have people look aghast when I mention I have had it since I was 4 because most people know someone who is a type 2 and doesn't know the difference. (And why should they, I know, but the media doesn't help with it's constant headlines about 'Obestity and Diabetes'. Grrr!

ReadySteadyDrink good to hear it is not just me with not many symptoms as yet. I realise it is early etc but I felt similar to this when I had the MMC spotted so it's hard to relax. I will try to make more effort in the relaxing department, its just a shame it can't be with a large glass of wine!

Carty80 · 13/10/2011 12:36

Just quick reply to mymama - I found a non wired soft bra in a drawer and wore that. Thought I would carry on with underwired bras during the day for a while but non wired for sleep, probably bit more comfy but still gives a bit of support. My boobs were really uncomfortable last few nights and very achey and wearing the bra def helped. Think I bought a proper night bra with last DC but got rid of it typically!

Welcome to all the new ladies and congrats! xx

MyMamaToldMe · 13/10/2011 13:25

Thanks Carty - think I am going to go ahead and get one.

Welcome to all the newbies! :)

millyv I saw an article in a magazine the other day - Victoria Beckham has an iCandy! ;)

millyv · 13/10/2011 14:13

mymamatoldme My friends would not be surprised at that comment as I'm a bit of a VB fan, having said that I didn't know she had one, I just thought they looked cool!

cart80 would a summer vest with the support panel so you don't have to wear a bra work the same? My boobs are not painful atm but I am aware that they are there, especially moving around in bed - if that makes any sense?

I don't drink coffee but I do drink black tea, I have tried to stop, haven't had any today but did have a cup yesterday, I have moved onto Robinsons Orange squash or Ribena - totally taking me back to my childhood and made me wonder why as adults we don't drink squash as much!?

I have just been discussing the Christmas wine list with my dad, I so wanted to say make sure you only buy bad wine this year as I won't be drinking it - but managed to hold my tongue! I think I am going to struggle more with the giving up wine than anything else as I love a glass! Wine

MammaInTheMaking · 13/10/2011 14:21

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG felt a bit queasy after lunch but colleague next to me eating the stinkiest pasta ever. I want to heaveeeeeeeeee..............

MyMamaToldMe · 13/10/2011 14:40

Uh oh Mamma that's just how my MS started the last time! Oh bless - hope you don't get it too bad!

millyv I am a squash drinker! Nothing nicer than a lovely glass of Vimto! haha

millyv · 13/10/2011 14:40

Oh no mamainthemaking hope you survive! X

MammaInTheMaking · 13/10/2011 14:48

I survived. The pasta is all gone and my lunch stayed down! Geeeezzzzz it was rancid!

BTW - am a major squash drinker. I don't drink any tea or coffee or hot drinks or alcohol at all. Coke is a major treat for me and usually i have a glass of squash (no added sugar variety!) on the go. Scrummy!

The good thing for me is that i don't have to cut much out of my diet, thus not giving away the pregnancy until the time is right. I also HATE cheese. :)

Anyone else constantly knicker checking??

millyv · 13/10/2011 15:14

Im with you on the constantly checking!

Food wise my diet is good, but giving up the vino on a Friday night after the house has been cleaned, step kids and husband are fed and watered is going to upset me!Sad

It will all be worth it in the end though! Smile

Xx

Kayzr · 13/10/2011 15:32

Bleugh!! I've been feeling sick since I woke up and it's just subsided. Not good when we've been shopping all day.

We're going to find out what we're having. I like surprises but I also like to be planned for things and I'd like to be able to buy blue/pink things. Grin

On the names front we have our boys name picked but then again DS2 was going to be Toby until the day he was born. Girls names are harder. I have a list of 50 I like but DP says no to most of them.

My SIL had her baby last night. She was only 35 weeks and my new beautiful niece weighed 6lb 12oz!!

Hope you are all well. I'll try to catch up better when the boys are in bed as DS1 has a friend round.

She's called Maggie. No cuddles yet as they live quite far away. Going down in December. So ages away yet

ceeej · 13/10/2011 16:44

OH and I are both big orange squash drinkers and also keen on elderflower cordial, we like both with soda water. I've been off caffeine for a few years as it makes my mind race in a rather distressing way. Honeybush tea is another naturally caffeine free tea that I really like, it's quite delicate.

I just went out to do a few errands and some food shopping and the smell thing has definitely started, not making me feel too nauseous yet but there were a few really unpleasant ones

many congratulations on your new niece Kayzr, hope your SIL is doing well

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/10/2011 16:54

Hiya, travel systems are okay but car seats are bad for the developing spine so it is recommended that a baby spends as little time as possible in them. Flat lying prams are much better, but best of all are slings.
