Have just PMd you Orcs. Smile

Medee · 12/04/2011 12:34

afternoon all. Sorry to hear consultant less than helpful Scorps, but hope the crutches arrive soon.

Personally, the theatre part of my delivery for the ventouse was really positive (once they'd got the spinal block in on the fifth go!) - it was dawn and natural light flooded the place, I was surrounded by supportive staff, I felt calm and relaxed (once the spinal kicked in), MrM was finally back at my side and my neighbour was at the business end (she's an obstetrician, good job she's moving soon!)

Muser · 12/04/2011 12:39

Hi Medee, how are you and EA today? You have been asked after elsewhere. I am keeping schtum as requested.

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/04/2011 12:56

Thanks Laydees Smile I am in t'other place and would love to coo at ESH baybees and nose at wedding and other photos I'll put my link on my profile.

The best thing just happened to me while browsing the crisp section of the student shop - stilton and grape flavour crisps! Have locked my office door and scoffed the lot they were sooooo stiltony and delicious!

PS I still have to go to north wales but can let the train take the strain. New manager ignoring my emails though. Will have to go and see her

Medee · 12/04/2011 13:03

She's currently getting her official final dose of antibiotics. Apparently they want to do a headscan which will hopefully coincide, not sure what the purpose is, and then I am going to ask about discharge procedures. I've also asked for some help from the breastfeeding support midwife based at the hospital, in order to ditch the nipple shields, and she's coming to see us this afternoon.

Thanks Muse, shall re-emerge there once we are home.

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/04/2011 13:09

Oooh medee could be today then? How exciting, hope it all goes well!

Orchid12 · 12/04/2011 13:14

Very exciting Meds Will keep fingers crossed that all goes well and the scan gets done quickly.

Polster - thanks for pm - am now an official friend! Beautiful wee girls you have, will have a proper look later when not at work Smile

Bite me have sent a friend request. Profile pic has a pic of me and mini O just so you know who it is!

laurielou · 12/04/2011 13:52

LadyG thanks for the acupuncturist tip. I have my next MW next Thurs (so I have to leave early on my last day in work, damnWink) so my plan is to swim & spend the next 10 days on all fours (easy tigers!). If still breech next week then I'll try looking up a local needles lady. I feel better for having a plan, so
thankyou lovely ladies.

Drom thanks for being honest about coming to terms with c-section. Like you I had my eye on a low key MW led unit where Mr Loz can stay with me overnight. In fact, I'm still going to think along those lines at the moment....

Meds it sounds like the end is in sight. I really hope today goes well & that you are in the midst of discharge papers as I type.

AlpinePony · 12/04/2011 14:06

Like medee my time in theatre was very positive. My pain had gone and I knew that my baby was coming and that we were going to be safe. I was absolutely out of my fucking tree though and later told JB about the sunshine coming through the leaves on the trees outside the window. He laughed and informed me that the OR was actually in the (windowless) cellar. Just say YES to drucks! Grin

medee So very glad to hear you're on your way home. Good job!

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/04/2011 15:19

Drucks sound fabby! I just hope that if I end up taking them I don't start confiding in people that Daniel Craig is the real father of my baybee as i don't think having dirty thoughts about someone is the same having the actual sechs is it?

I have told not so nice manager about new plan re: travelling. She was not so nice. Oh well, going to count my days till leave again and cheer myself up.

I'm off to have a nose at ourkid Smile

laurielou · 12/04/2011 15:43

Manager sounds a delight Bitey Hmm. Just keep counting those days.....

Alps You're no Zammo, are you Grin? Drucks sound great - is it too early to say YES PLIZ now?

Scorpette · 12/04/2011 15:44

I want more FB FESH pals! Nobody loves Scorps, waaaaah Sad

Medee, am so excited for you and EA. Truly hope those are the last of her antibiotics and that she'll be home ASAP. What a fab day :) PS Hope the BFing support goes smoothly.

Fuck Nasty Manager, Bitey. Does she think a work jaunt is more important than your prego health?! Lemme at 'er - am feeling v Scrappy-Doo today Grin

I have some new, weird and rubbish differ symptoms: 1) my pubes are falling out! I was already sparse in that area and now it's ridic. As my evil stretchmarks go right down into my pubic area, it would be nice to have some bastard hair to mask them, arrgh! 2) Tiny, bubbling, erm, um, ahem, fanny farts Blush There's nothing going in or out, so why am I getting them?! Anyone else had similar or am I just a freak?

LadyGoneGaga · 12/04/2011 15:58

Would you like some of my pubes, Score? Oh, oh. And how about some nice belly hair?

Fanny farts are prob due to everything "loosening" up ready for the big day?

Scorpette · 12/04/2011 16:16

Trufax: I have straight pubes. And curly head hair. WHY am I such a goddamn freak? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? I'll say no to your generous offer of a GG merkin, ta

Have just realised something truly terrifying (no, not how much weight I'll have to lose after The Lad arrives, but that too): my Mum gave birth to both me and my bro on the days she hit 36 wks exactly. I am 35 wks tomorrow. I could have as little as 8 days left. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! Shock

And the car set and stuff from JL doesn't arrive for a fortnight and the spare bedroom isn't ready and I've not packed a hossie bag or listened to the hippo CDs properly, or, or, or... waaaah!

owlbooty · 12/04/2011 16:19

Oh, wow. It's all glamour in here.

LadyGoneGaga · 12/04/2011 16:36

Pack the bag, Score. Pack the bag.

I only half bothered as was meant to be a home birth and had to limp about with baby wedged in the birth canal at 10cm trying to find the last bits before the ambulance turned up.

You're gonna be a Mummy very soon!!!

StiffyByng · 12/04/2011 16:45

Meds, I do so hope today is the day! How bloody exciting!

Rocket, excellent work on the free hippobirthing. It's brilliant stuff.

Scorpo, I am on crutches and am truly shexy. In fact, I turned 37 weeks today and MrByng and I celebrated with some incredibly awkward sex erotic natural induction this morning. The consultant sounds unhelpful, and I know exactly what you mean about this making you nervous of labour. I'm not sure exactly what they mean either about the wheelchair. I needed one the other day for the labour ward tour but I don't think I'm a severe case. Anyway, in case it's any comfort, I've been asking around and I've been told by more than one person that the SPD pain gets less as soon as labour starts, never mind at birth. I don't know (this is probably an annoying latecomer question) if labouring in water is at all an option for you, but it seems to be by far the best way of doing it if you can.

I'm struggling to work out who everyone is on here and respond, so I'm sorry I'm ignoring so many people. I've read everything, I promise!

And my nesting stress is now extreme. MrB has a list of all the things I think need to be done as he asked for it. It's very long. I do know not getting our stuff before the baby arrives isn't the worst thing ever, but we have nowhere to keep the baby things at the moment so the poor little thing will be living out of carrier bags until the drawers arrive! And I wanted to wash it all nicely and put it away and feel really ready. At the moment, it feels like we've done nothing. Sad

Ocarina · 12/04/2011 16:58

Yay for EA being nearly ready for home - hope the last bits are falling into place as I type.

Laurie I think I'd be freaking out at the idea of an elcs (but given that I'm ignoring thinking about how this baby gets out at all it's not an issue at the moment - denial? moi?), but I guess better to have the chance to get your head round the possibility whilst doing everything possible to persuade bug to turn than having it dropped on you with no warning later on. Now young bug, you just listen and get yourself comfortably head down right now .

Stiffy I'm sure the baby won't care where its clothes are kept, but I can imagine the frustration. How soon are the drawers due to arrive?

My adventure for today has been trying to find a maternity suit. For most of life I can get by in pretty informal clothes (although have discovered that while normal trousers are getting too small, my maternity ones aren't staying up...) but there's one particular occasion when I'll be 32 weeks and need to be v specifically and smartly dressed. So suit is needed, but v few places seem to do jackets - any advice? I'd far rather have a shop I can go to and try things on than buy them online and have to send them back when they don't fit, but I guess I may have to bite the bullet on internet shopping on this one.

Muser · 12/04/2011 17:05

I bought an envelope today so I could post your nip cream Score. Will get it posted to you asap in case you do lay early.

LadyGoneGaga · 12/04/2011 17:20

Occy when I need to wear smart stuff for work I wear maternity trousers with a nice top or maternity dress with one of my normal jackets on top (sort of nipped in waist, single button/breasted tailored type ones) but wear unbuttoned.

And very excited about Medee's good news. Forgot to mention earlier in stampede to talk about Scorer's merkin.

Scorpette · 12/04/2011 17:22

Thanks for the support, Stiffy (and the fact that your name always makes me go 'fnarr fnarr' Wink). My hossie is v supportive of me having a water birth, so long as there's a) no probs to contra-indicate it, b) there's enough staff (cue my nightmare of laying on Royal Wedding Day) and c) the pool is free, of course. If it is in use, would it be very wrong of me to burst in on whoever is in there and bellow 'GET THE FUCK AAAAAAHT!' like a banshee until I get it all to myself? PS There will be no erotic induction in this home. TYF is no longer allowed to look at my bare legs (too bloated), never mind the full nekkid me. I have also banned myself from looking at me nekkid

Well, I have just gone and packed my hossie bag (read: tiny suitcase) with as much stuff as I can for now. Am quite smug that I blagged some trial-size samples of my usual skincare a few months ago (yeah, like those will be the top of my priority list once laying!). I stared in terror/confusion at my big pack of newborn nappies and didn't know whether to just take the lot or open them up and take 6 or summat, all wrapped up. Oh god, oh god, oh god.

And do I need some sort of shawl/blanket to wrap him up in once he's here? And if so, what and where do I get one?

MELTDOWN! Shock

BTW, my Mum insisted offered to wash all the newborn baybee stuff for us. She has lovingly packaged it all up in white tissue paper with hand-written labels as to what's inside. Talk about PFGC syndrome! What a treasure she is.
(Trouble is, the labels just say 'baby grow' or 'trousers', so I will have to rip them open to get to the ones I need to take to the hossie, as some are basic and some are fancy, but what a lovely thing to do, eh? I heart my Mum)

Scorpette · 12/04/2011 17:29

Ooooh, cheers ever so much, lovely Muse, most 'preciated

Muser · 12/04/2011 18:38

Hossie will sort out blankets Score. A cellular blanket is good for night time. Don't take all the nappies. Six sounds fine.

Muser · 12/04/2011 18:53

The spa died before we could sort out a new one. I haz made one here if anyone is looking for it. With sparkly new acronym. CRESH Creche

Scorpette · 12/04/2011 18:58

I have about 57 cellular blankets, thanks to my Mum and Aunt menkulising over the need for 'em Grin Good to know about the blanket and nappies though, ta. Love the new name but what does the CR bit stand for? (I like CRESH better than FESH, btw)
